People are unappreciated
On Scratch, there are MILLIONS of accounts. Most of those accounts don't have over 50 followers. These people are going to be called ‘New Scratchers’.
And even if you've been on the platform for day, weeks, months, even YEARS, some people are just left in the dust. All they do on Scratch is make projects and advertise on people's popular projects. People refuse to respect people's other opinions on Scratch. My account almost got banned because my friend went on my account and spread hate on a Taylor Swift project. All he said was “She's mid” and left. People who have 51-500 followers are going to be called “Newbies”. They usually have been on the platform for a while and are decent Scratchers. These people should be welcoming new Scratchers instead of hating on them. They also only advertise and make projects. People also need to respect people's projects. Scratch should be putting small and good projects on the ‘Featured’ page because big Scratchers, such as @ceebee, @griffpatch, @Will_Wam, and @CrystalKeeper7,have people only advertizing on there projects because they have nothing better to do. They think people are going to be like “Oh, here's a new game by @so and so, they say it will help them be a better person, I'm going to click on it,”. No, that's not how it works. You should wait for people to discover your projects, it's more magical that way. And too big scratchers, help the small one's out. Thy are new to the platform, they think they should advertize on everything. Tell them to stop, and show them this forum post.

Scratch needs a better discovery system (not to mention a faster indexer and perhaps some form of categorization separate from studios). The current system works for a subset of the Scratch population and the communities of very popular Scratchers, but the ecosystem largely seems to function like a microcosm of Facebook. It is designed to support friend groups who want to keep up with what their friends are doing, but fails at other forms of discovery without alienated scratchers getting airtime within those communities.
The environment actively excludes the content of those you do not follow (or things hitting the front page) as a legitimate means to prevent inundating users with unwanted updates. It also provides insufficient mechanisms to proactively discover that content if you want to, which creates a bit of an echo chamber.
I don't assume that everyone would agree with this, but it remains my assessment.
The Show & Tell forum doesn't work, because it simply gets spammed and doesn't provide any mechanism for those interested to find what they are looking for.
This has all been discussed before, of course, and it seems doubtful that it will ever change. It's a crying shame, because there is a lot of good work out there that is next to impossible to find.

Are you helping them because you want gratitude or are you helping them without any expectation because it's the help you would want if you were them? If you're doing it for acknowledgment, you're allowing a seed to sprout in your heart. That is the seed of bitterness and resentment. It would be advised that you stop offering your help, if that's the case.
However, if you're helping them without expectation of anything because you would want that same help for yourself, you wouldn't worry over gratitude, because anything you do in good will is seen by your Father in Heaven and He will reward you for your deeds, even if the ones you're choosing to help don't.
And, even, if you don't believe in God, God believes in you, so your acts of kindness and goodwill never go unnoticed. They are taken into account, but, if you allow bitterness and resentment to sprout and flourish within you, your efforts will not be regarded as acts of kindness and goodwill because you have allowed them to turn your heart.
All things planted in good faith will bear good fruit. All things planted with expectation will bear a bitter harvest.
Hope this helps.

Funny, but I never discussed helping others.
If one does, I would agree that it is likely better to do so for the sake of being helpful and not for personal gain. That said, your response makes it seem like you are yourself posting this with an agenda and perhaps not with the intention of helping Scratchers.
One does not require the proselytization of another to choose to follow a religious path. They find it themselves or can ask for help if they want it.

I know @dave3m says that was a bad thing to post, but I digress.
The standpoint here is if you advertise, it will be a bitter, bad harvest. Saying that people will ignore you and not think about it. But if you wait for views, the harvest will be sweet, and delicious. Referring to if you don't advertise and wait for people to find you, it's way more magical.
