Does someone have a working example of how to use Snap's connectivity to remote resources?

See the github link in my signature. I've made a bunch of Snap! Hardware interfaces using this strategy.

No, actually, several of us are adults – teachers and/or computer scientists – and we get together at conferences IRL.So you're colleagues or something? (I guess that^ explains why your domain ends in berkeley.edu
)and we have hypnotized you into revealing that your name is David!
That's obvious.P.S. I kind of wish you had continued BYOB instead of making Snap!. (I mean applied the updates to BYOB and still had the Squeak interface).
Why:
- What if you want to use Snap! on the plane?
- For some reason, Snap makes my only-7-month-old laptop NOISY!!!
- There is one thing we won't forget about BYOB: its ability to create screensavers.

So you're colleagues or something? We're all colleagues, even the young ones. But, yeah, some of us are occasionally-f2f colleagues.
What if you want to use Snap! on the plane?Agreed. A standalone version is coming. (Meanwhile you can download the source and run it from your own machine, although things like cloud access obviously won't work offline.) The thing is, the teachers who are our primary target audience told us that they're often not allowed to install software on school computers, whereas Snap! runs in the browser and is therefore okay.
For some reason, Snap makes my only-7-month-old laptop NOISY!!!Agreed. I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro. I think this is a result of having our own thread system instead of using JS native threads, but I'm not sure. Jens?
There is one thing we won't forget about BYOB: its ability to create screensavers.Pfui. Can't you just hit PRINTSCREEN or whatever to take a snapshot?
(@Hm: You should have known he's a Windows user; BYOB screensavers only ever worked on Windows.)

I don't know how Wndows screensavers work, I just pointed out that it's at least theoretically possible with Mac (which is kinda ironic now, since earlier I had spent ages figuring out how to get my BYOB stuff working as a screensaver and the Windows guys seemed to find it annoyingly easy).

To make a screensaver from BYOB:
- Download avast! Antivirus. It's the fastest antivirus program there is. And you need it for a BYOB screensaver.
- Open your Scratch/BYOB project in BYOB
- Choose Share ► Compile This Project…
- Wait for the compiling process to finish.
- Go to the directory where you compiled the files. BYOB should have generated two files: a .exe and a .ypr. Double-click on the .ypr, then exit the project.
- Right-click on your desktop and click Properties.
- Click Screen Saver on the bottom (Win 7/8) or the Screen Saver tab at the top (XP).
- From the drop-down list, select avast! Antivirus, then click Settings
- Select BYOB from the drop-down list
- Click OK twice
- You're done!

PS Here I am in Beja, Portugal for a teacher workshop pre-Barcelona. Free internet at the hotel. Why is it always free at the cheap hotels and $20/day at the expensive ones?

If you ask for a password for a group, you can sometimes get a free rate.

You can pack the project into an exe (with the BYOB software) and rename it to a scr file.IDK, but that's how it works. avast! has a screensaver that runs .ypr's.Download avast! Antivirus.
