A button to both heart and star

A button to both heart and star

Suggestion:
Right now, we have two seperate buttons to heart and star which is good. However, really a lot of Scratchers commonly do both and so I suggest there is a button that does both operations in one click. This would be commonly used by a lot of Scratchers if placed right and saves a click every time.

Benefits:
This is not hard to implement and has no real downsides. It would show that Scratch understands what it's userbase does and be a practical comfort feature.

Why is clicking both painful? Is it not just 2 taps? Sounds kind of pointless.

I don't think clicking the screen twice is very difficult, so it seems kind of unnecessary in my opinion.

I still find it annoying and I mean yeah its not the most effort a work has ever taken a human but it doesn't cost much either, am I right?

Except valuable space on small screens (your suggestion is literally targeted towards small screens!!!!)

It would be like the set thumbnail button. Many people dislike it because of how it looks, and how much space it take up. I feel like a similar thing would happen with this.

Scratch doesn't use the space efficiently you can easily just fit that button in there.

I don't exactly have a plan for how it shall look like yet. Also how it was finally implemented is not the fault of the concept of the set thumbnail button .

Support

This can be very useful if you really like a project.

However, I don't want it to be the ONLY button because I know a lot of scratchers who just heart a project

great idea though!

when [❤] key pressed
say [❤+⭐]

I feel you made this suggestion just cause you can.
“why not” is not good reasoning for ANY suggestion

I didnt make this outta peak lazyness but I do encounter people who only favorite or alike and just because it is not the Idea that keeps the servers running for the next 50 years and rather a quality of life thing it doesn't have real downsides (other than that it saves a click).

Sorry, no support here. Hearts and stars serve different purposes on the platform. Hearts contribute to the project being on the explore page and the “What the community is loving” row on the front page (granted, that second one doesn't apply currently since the front page is on life support). Stars/favorites are for projects that you enjoyed enough to want to share with others, hence why your favorited projects are visible on your profile. The only reason the two are typically lumped together is because they're directly next to each other and their individual purposes aren't immediately obvious. I feel like encouraging Scratchers to just click both for any project that grabs their attention kind of defeats the point of having 2 like systems in the first place.

I agree that hearts and stars serve different platforms (adding to the favorite list of expressing that you simpply like it). However, they are also sometimes served alone (for example when you want to just express you like it or just have it in your favorite list). Still, many people see it as an expression of their appreciation of a project to LIKE and FAVE and this encourages that; they are two different signs of positive appreciation and expressing you like a project and lots of people wnt to give both. This would just make it easier to share do both and therefore save a click whilst keeping the old system and you can choose to “just like” or “just favorite” like before.

The systems go along together really well and instead of merging them into one this button would help the common users who press both whilst leaving the individual space and traits of the old two systems.

As someone who has used both their phone and tablet to use Scratch, I can confirm it's not painful to press two buttons.

I agree with those feller right here. “Why not?” is not a good reasoning. This will just take up space on the screen. Just because it makes it easy to heart and favorite doesn't mean it needs to be added. All you have to do is tap twice and it will work. You will be okay tapping twice, I promise.

Saving a click is crazy. Are you saving up? It's two clicks, it's seriously not that hard. Your quality of life is not going to be impacted by clicking twice. What WILL impact your quality of life is constantly looking for shortcuts for things that are already short and cannot be cut. I doubt this is an actual problem too. This will just take up space and if anything, people are probably going to get mad and I think people are already mad at Scratch as it is. They shouldn't be focusing on meaningless things like a button heart and favorite at the same time anyways.

That sounds sad. This is not a “why not” reasoning. Really a large ammount of Scratchers just in fact gives both and I think we should represent that by adding a button that adds both. This is a representation of the thing that most users do.
Also, saving a click is a benefit. There are thousands of scratchers who would use thios and there are no downsides.
This button is not meaningless but showing that Scratch understands what a lot of users do.

Is it really that hard to click 2 things that you need another button to do it for you
