AI on scratch?
Hello,
Recently I've been hearing a lot of my fellow Scratchers warn me about the new implemented AI being used on the platform and many have been saying not to post art on here. I read the updated teams of service and the “lines in the sand” but I'm still confused and there's a couple questions I want answered before I feel comfortable posting my art on here again.
My main question is: Will you be feeding our art into AI? This is what I've heard from a lot of people and when I checked the TOS it said this=
“By Posting User Content to or via the Service, to the maximum extent of your rights to do so, including under applicable law, you hereby grant: (a) other users of the Service a non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works of such User Content solely for personal use within the Service and subject to these Terms; and (b) us a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license (with the right to grant and authorize sublicenses) to publicly display, publicly perform (including by means of a digital audio transmission), reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, and otherwise use and exploit the User Content to provide the Service, for internal business purposes, to advertise, market, and promote the service, and to otherwise improve our products and services and create new products and services, including through the training of AI models.*”
This makes me really uneasy as this highly suggests that any art I post on this platform will be fed to ai to teach it to generate more convincing ai “art” which if this is the case, does this mean that anything posted before this update will also be used for AI training?

AI on scratch?
Will you be feeding our art into AI?We're not 100% sure about AI taking art. Even if it will take art, it'll only be used to suggest the assets from other Scratchers (I think).

AI on scratch?
I'M NOT A LEGAL EXPERT THIS IS JUST SOME BASIC RESEARCH I DID. TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT
This just means that whatever you post on the website, Scratch has the legal rights to do whatever it wants with it. Sell it, advertise it, or even train AI with it.
I'll try to break this down.
Non-exclusive: You still own your work and can license it to others
Perpetual: It will never expire (forever lasting)
Irrevocable: You can't take back permission
Royalty-free: Scratch needn't pay you to use your work
Sublicense: Scratch can grant licenses to others without your permission
Which further means that even if you delete your projects or your account etc. Scratch still can use your work for whatever it deems fit.
Though this does not necessarily mean that Scratch will use it to train AI, just that it can. Even if Scratch did, you have already agreed and cannot cancel or opt out.
Actually, I think these conditions have always been like this.

I believe your Art will not be fed to the AI, Scratch is programming site, to I feel like it will be trained off of Coding blocks and stuff like that. (I believe what's said in the TOS is legal issues, I'm not a lawyer or an expert on legal stuff besides Copyright and Fair Use.)

AI on scratch?
Posting this mainly to BUMP it and hopefully get a Scratch Team member's attention.
This has always been my main concern of Scratch implementing AI; them using user-created sprites to train their AI. I could care less if they use my scripts to help younger users solve things.
Considering they've already said they won't be implementing AI generation I don't see much of a reason for them to train off of user-generated sprites, but it still worries me and I would at least like to get some confirmation before anything drastic happens.

Could you please provide a source from a Scratch Team member or official Scratch/MIT announcement? Thank you.
