Do NOT add AI to Scratch — #NoAIOnScratch
Will the Scratch Ai create art? because the art community will be really mad over this. and will ST make this feature for membership payers only? also many people are concerned over the fact that AI on a kids site might danger them, any thoughts or objections? No, it won't make AI art but it will steal sprites from other's projects.

Do NOT add AI to Scratch — #NoAIOnScratch
https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/8940709/Let's not present the presumption that Scratch is no longer using the CC-BY-SA license as fact. According to the FAQ, that is still the license (although the FAQ may not have been updated yet). Regardless, unless they explicitly say that the CC-BY-SA is no longer in use, it would not be wise to assume that is necessarily the case. They did…..This might be an illegal breach of contract. Every project on Scratch is published under the Creative Commons license. Scratch needs to credit the project owners if they train the AI on their projects. If they do not, that is literally against the law because they are not complying with the terms of the license.Didn't they remove that or something?
Something I've noticed in other programming sites is that they will often allow users to select the license applied to their works. That could explain why the new ToU is now vague. This is still speculation, though.

no doubt about this. it will be overrun with ai slop, and creativity will exist in few individuals, who will be hidden behind the noise of the AI.

Ew a new reason to discuss on this topic that requires me to read a bunch of text to even understand (tos update)
And the text is in times new Roman font I think
I’d rather stare at a nasty illusion for 2 hours cause that font makes everything 999x more boring
Could somebody just quote the part(s) that everybody is so frustrated about

Oh it's back up.
I think the fact some moderators were out in the dark about this change kinda tells me they were originally just going to shadow drop it and not let everyone know.
Yeah, I think that part is particularly suspicious. Definitely gives the impression that other ST members would try to stop this if they knew. If that's correct, then the members who did decide to do this knew about all the issues yet didn't care.

More like… all the moderators. I just happened to quite horribly, terribly, woefully, incredibly quite unlucky in this particular instance to have been cursed with handling the report ticket about the flame war comments. (O_o)I find it a bit suspicious how this was closed 4 DAYS before the new terms of serviceSome Moderators didn't even know about this update.
This was closed because it was flamey here.so let's not start a flame war again.
Speaking of which, sometimes we see forum reports that are not really reports but comments that really should be posted in a Suggestions thread or submitted via the “Feedback” link on the foundation website. Particularly, when it comes to a decision that has more ramifications (switch from Scratch 2.0 to 3.0, putting a cap on comment chains in studios, and in this case AI), those not-a-report-but-a-suggestion-ticket flood the queue a lot, which makes it harder for moderators to get to tickets that need more urgent attention. I'll still do my due diligence to forward a copy of those reports before moving on to the next ticket, but the moderation queue does need to be clear, I don't think people want to have non-moderation reports to slow down moderators from handling tickets that require more immediate moderator attention (like someone sharing personal info or inappropriate comments).

@cheddargirl could you close this suggestion again for a bit before we get spam and flame
Actually all the topics about AI for a bit until everybody calms down
I’ve never seen such anarchy on this forum before

somone suggested this:
king
idea: since scratch is using an ai to learn off our art, lets create projects teaching the AIs that they shouldnt have to do work, and then scratch team's plan will completely backfire on them, as the AI wont want to do anything

The ai is training off of code and maybe images
Not text and stuff like that
ST themselves may be training it too?

When I closed the topic before, it was more like users posting continued personalized attacks against each others about snipping comment chains, which is off-topic and absolutely not useful.
In this case, I'd rather people report the comments that would be in direct violation of the Community Guidelines while letting the relevant stuff through in light of the new Terms of Service.

Do NOT add AI to Scratch — #NoAIOnScratch
Ai does not “enhance” kids creativity, it limits it. I speak from experience. I used to use Ai and other peoples photos because I wanted an easy way to see what I wanted to see come to life. But when Ai got too frustrating because I could never get it to look quite right, I started drawing, and as a result I learned how to put TIME and EFFORT into something, how to PERSEVERE, and how to PROBLEM SOLVE. As a result, I got better and better. I felt better about my projects, too. When kids constantly use Ai to make things, they turn into lazy and sloppy adults. They learn to take the easy route and never actually learn anything. The journey of learning how to draw or code is really long and hard, but it’ll make you a better person and give you skills that will help in the long run. Scratch once was a place you could share your journey and find support, but by adding ai to scratch, you’ve prevented all possible learning and growth on this site. Nothing good ever comes easy.
When you use Ai to generate content based on someone’s art or code, you sell their personal journey and knowledge that they’ve worked so hard to get.
With all respect, ST, please prevent this from happening.

Regarding the state of the whole forum though
Would it be a good idea to close any posts referencing Ai for a bit until everybody calms down?
It may cause more backlash but I still think it’s a good idea, although Im not on the team and I’m not that experienced with forum behavior

Gotta love when there's a lack of workplace communication. That's something definitely needs to be addressed. At the very least the moderation team should have a heads-up when changes like this are going to take place soon. Some Moderators didn't even know about this update.-snip--snip-

@cheddargirl could you close this suggestion again for a bit before we get spam and flameI don't think that is necessary. I haven't seen much of people attacking each other. I've also been on the forums for a while, and I think that, unless we're devolving the discussion into ad hominems consistently, closing these posts is not going to do what you want it to.
