Will it ever reach a point when Scratch is gonna use face verification
If so, DON’T unless you want 8 yr olds getting paired with 18yr olds

Scratch is likely not going to do that. The size of the website and its intent as an all ages programming education platform does not align with a need to use ID or face verification to verify ages.
And additionally, I personally do not believe that Scratch will implement verification features like the website you are referencing does (Especially since Scratch doesn't answer to “investors” as a for profit company). Their moderation does well to protect children, albeit it could use some work.

Not perfect but good engouh, scratch moderation.Adding that in Roblox, kids could easily bypass cheap ai verification and it also makes mistakes.
For instance,a parent posted that their child was supposed to be in the 9-12 age group but stupid ai put him as 17 turning 18 next month
Plus, The company that powers the AI is against a lawsuit for storing the photos, even though they claim not to.
So yea,Scratch is likely not going to do that.

They're a nonprofit, unlike Roblox.
They will never ask for your face.
They will never ask for your face.

Scratch = children before money Roblox = money before childrenHonestly, this is a good analogy.
The FAE platform that Roblox uses, Persona, has had their fair share of scandals.
I am never giving my face to Roblox or any platform.

Scratch is likely not going to do that. The size of the website and its intent as an all ages programming education platform does not align with a need to use ID or face verification to verify ages.In addition to post #2, Scratch probably would not have sufficient funds to be able to get face verification as Scratch, as stated above, relies on donations and is a non-profit.
And additionally, I personally do not believe that Scratch will implement verification features like the website you are referencing does (Especially since Scratch doesn't answer to “investors” as a for profit company). Their moderation does well to protect children, albeit it could use some work.
In a nutshell there would be no benefit and a lot of drawbacks.
Scratch = children before money Roblox = money before childrenPlease keep the topic relevant as Roblox is not Scratch and this is Questions about Scratch
Thanks

Scratch Membership is already pushing the limits of 501©. If Scratch adds FAE, they would be the first word of my username.

Scratch Membership and Face verification aren't related? In addition to post #2, Scratch probably would not have sufficient funds to be able to get face verification as Scratch, as stated above, relies on donations and is a non-profit. Scratch Membership is already pushing the limits of 501©. If Scratch adds FAE, they would be the first word of my username.
Besides, the Scratch Membership donations are for the organization itself not for any private interests, which is the key base of a 501©(3) organization. (see below)
According to irs.gov:
A section 501©(3) organization must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, such as the creator or the creator's family, shareholders of the organization, other designated individuals, or persons controlled directly or indirectly by such private interests. No part of the net earnings of a section 501©(3) organization may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. A private shareholder or individual is a person having a personal and private interest in the activities of the organization.

Shortened. If you stand and think for a few minutes, don't you think a nonprofit taking AI pictures weird? It's already abnormal that regular corporations are asking for a “selfie.” Roblox isn't a nonprofit, rather a publicly traded corporation. Scratch is private.

Yes, but legally Scratch can use face verification. There's no problem theoretically. They could just not collect data if they make one?
But it would get a lot of backlash from people if that's the point you're trying to get across(?)
Also polite reminder this is QaS not Questions about Roblox and Scratch

P.S. i don't support face verification

We have zero plans to institute face verification. And I think I can say with certainty that we never will
