Solution to bringing back the remix tree
I have a solution to bringing back the remix tree that likely won’t take that much work to implement compared to the other solutions, provided that the ST still has a (private) copy of the remix tree API lying around somewhere and they didn’t completely erase it from existence.
Basically, the reason the inappropriate thumbnails would show was because the indexer broke. Because of that, here is a solution:
When the indexer is actively indexing the newest projects, the remix tree can be accessed. When the indexer is broken, the remix tree page should display the remixes page instead.
There should be a way to check if newly shared projects are added to the indexer in order to make this work. In addition, a project’s moderation status (not reviewed, FE, NFE) should be removed from the remix tree API.

Nice solution but maybe they could just stop displaying thumbnails while the indexer is down? I doubt anyone would really notice with how odd the site is anyway

Rejected:
4.5 Bring back the remix tree
The remix tree was a feature in Scratch 2.0 that allowed users to view a “tree” of remixes of a project. The button to access the remix tree was removed in Scratch 3.0, but its URL was still accessible for some time, until it was eventually removed due to the fact that it could be used to view deleted content. The Scratch Team currently has no plans to bring back the remix tree functionality.

Solution to bringing back the remix tree
In my opinion this sounds funny at first but I would not bring the remix trees back without a proper rework. Yes, they were cool and stuff but the page was kind of broken (glitchy top bar etc) and I don't know if we should “readd” something in that state.
