My browser / operating system: ChromeOS 14541.0.0, Chrome 138.0.0.0, No Flash versions detected
It rarely happens, but I noticed if you refresh the page on 3.0 and 2.0, they'll start displaying a different set amount of messages rather than staying true to the message count that is set currently live.
Never seen the message count do this before.

Similar thing's happening to me - 2.0 pages show an increased message count, probably with a longer range for unread messages.

This bug is occurring on all my devices, Windows, Ubuntu, ChromeOS (don't ask why LOL), all processors, Intel, AMD, MediaTek (crappy I know), and all my browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and tested on Edge).

I really don't know why.

Wow, that is very strange. I wonder if it’s one of those issues where everyone else is experiencing the same thing happening.
