Allow Scratchers to update the Scratch website and its editor
NONONO TS IS NEITHER #7.4 NOR #7.1 ON TOLORS READ THE WHOLE POST HWFEYSKDFGHBEVRK8ISFRUJQ3REKGH
When a Scratcher's account turns 2.5 years old, They can know how to make complex stuff in Scratch, like RPGs with cloud saving, 3D visualizers, etc. However, they might grow out of Scratch, thus leading to the user of the account departing from Scratch. Since the Scratch website and editor are made out of JavaScript, how about we let Scratchers with accounts older than 2.5 years edit the website and editor.
(record scratch)
Wait a second, evil abusers can abuse this to insert inappropriate stuff!
So, how about, we can get a “consent ticket” from the primary owner of Scratch by asking them? ScratchCat will then check ALL of your projects, unshared projects, comments, forum topics, etc. If they DON'T condemn your request, than you can edit the website or editor FOR ONLY ONE TIME. Also, you cannot have more than one consent ticket.
That way, most of the abuse can be prevented.
Also, do you want to know why I am suggesting this?
This is because updates take a seriously long time. For example. Scratch 2.0 took ALMOST 6 YEARS to update to 3.0. I know, patience is key, but Scratch 2.0 almost died due to this, simply because it was made out of Adobe Flash!!! Also, Flash can cause harm to your device, as many hackers have found the sneakiest cracks in the security wall and started massive breaches. We don't want that, do we?
!!! NEW SUB-SUGGESTION !!!
Scratch_Cat_Coder8 says that all updates made by ordinary scratchers must be reviewed by the Scratch Team. This can be useful as it prevents more abuse.
!!! NEW SUB-SUGGESTION !!!
TheWolfyGirl says that if there's only one person checking everything, then that would be very tedious. So, how about we let members of the ST like Paddle2See and cosmosaura also check everything?

Support. Could probably help the ST maintain the website and speed up update stuff and add things but would probably have to be shortened to a “only few applicants allowed and every request to change the website must be reviewed” situation
Also I think I have a skill issue cuz I’ve been here for over 4 years and dont even know how to build a basic scrolling game properly lol

Allow Scratchers to update the Scratch website and its editor
I guess this is a nice idea. But like… A Scratcher whose account is 2.5 years old doesn't automatically mean they know literal javascript.. Neither would that mean they can make complex things. My account is four years old, about to be five in two months. I don't know how to make 3D visualizers, or RPGs with cloud savings. It's a very bold assumption that people will know how to do all that within two and a half years. Sure, there ARE Scratchers that may be 2.5 years or older but Scratch's coding is wildly different from literal JAVASCRIPT. I don't know the population of people on this website who know javascript, but considering that this website aims for kids and is used by children, I feel like those chances are low???
As for people putting in inappropriate stuff.. Even if they were under review and got their consent ticket, what's stopping them from turning on the ST right at that moment? What if they accidentally break something? And how in the world would the literal owner of Scratch know that they can do javascript?? Speaking of the owner of Scratch…. I feel like that's a lot of work for them. Going through all those projects, both shared and unshared and even possibly trashed, all their comments, their forum posts, their bios, the studios they participate in, their favorites, and maybe their loves if they can get access to that… It's too much! This also implies there's only one person doing it, so that's even worse.
No support. There's so many things that can go wrong, and it's too much work for possibly one person to do. Even if there was multiple people working on it, there's only so much people in the ST. There are so many accounts at 2.5+ years of age, and I feel as if it's too much. And again, how many people even know javascript on here????? While yes, it takes so long for updates. Even bugs like comments not loading or being eaten when trying to reply have been around for at least over a year haven't been fixed yet. There are other things that haven't been fixed, and they most likely will take forever to be fixed. But even then, I'd rather wait than be at risk of some irresponsible guy who went under the radar and now wants to use their consent ticket for evil.

Edit it for themselves or for everyone? If for themselves, instant support. If for everyone, this might be a little bit risky… if the ST is going to check all of the user's projects and stuff, that would be a lot of work…
Also, why are they checking unshared projects? A little unnecessary imo
Also II, isn't this pretty much a Github PR lol

bBumpYou don’t need to bump the topic if it’s already on the first page and if it hasn’t been 24 hrs yet. It isn’t necessary.

Basically this just sounds like your average GitHub PR system imo and it’s not really needed.
Plus, giving Scratchers control of what should be administrative tools would defeat the purpose of the ST adding features in.

Allow Scratchers to update the Scratch website and its editor
There are people on scratch who have joined less than a year ago and can already code very complex things. So a minimum account age requirement would be completely useless, if not, could actually hurt the developement of the scratch website because people who know a lot about js who want to contribute would have to wait a long time and possibly by then they wouldn't be interested anymore

Allow Scratchers to update the Scratch website and its editor
Something about this suggestion seems a little misguided.
As an example, I have 14 years of Scratch experience, but even still I certainly should not have the authority to edit non-trivial things about the Scratch website.
Note that someone can have thousands of forum posts and comments by the time they reach an account age of 2.5 years. That would take a really long time to check all of them.

Since the Scratch website and editor are made out of JavaScript, how about we let Scratchers with accounts older than 2.5 years edit the website and editor.Abuse aside, there are Scratchers with more than 2.5 years of Scratch experience that have no technical ability to edit or maintain the Scratch website. Edits take quite a bit more effort than you might expect.
As an example, I have 14 years of Scratch experience, but even still I certainly should not have the authority to edit non-trivial things about the Scratch website.
Also, you cannot have more than one consent ticket.I think the skill level and appropriateness of someone's Scratch projects doesn't exactly translate to how well they will be able to edit the website itself. I'm not entirely sure how forum posts or comments are relevant, either.
Note that someone can have thousands of forum posts and comments by the time they reach an account age of 2.5 years. That would take a really long time to check all of them.
This is because updates take a seriously long time. For example. Scratch 2.0 took ALMOST 6 YEARS to update to 3.0.I'd argue that there didn't need to be another major update sooner than 6 years. It took around 6 years for Scratch 1.0 to get upgraded to Scratch 2.0.
I know, patience is key, but Scratch 2.0 almost died due to this, simply because it was made out of Adobe Flash!!! Also, Flash can cause harm to your device, as many hackers have found the sneakiest cracks in the security wall and started massive breaches. We don't want that, do we?Sure, but this isn't entirely relevant anymore, since Scratch no longer runs on Flash. Are there major security breaches with HTML5 or any threats that HTML5 will be terminated that warrant an immediate upgrade of Scratch?
!!! NEW SUB-SUGGESTION !!!Scratch Team members like @Paddle2See and @cosmosaura do not necessarily have the ability to review the updates made by ordinary Scratchers. They are primarily moderators, not developers, and even if they did the comment-checking rather than the edit-reviewing, that would take their time away from handling the report queue, the slowness of which Scratchers already frequently complain about…
Scratch_Cat_Coder8 says that all updates made by ordinary scratchers must be reviewed by the Scratch Team. This can be useful as it prevents more abuse.

This is a logistical nightmare.
For one there are 1000s of active Scratchers that meet your oddly particular criteria. Huh its funny, your account just turned 2.5 years old!
You can't trust anybody with that level of access and there is no feasible way they could be vetted anyways. Even professional developer environments keep good track of who pushed updates, and any edit they made.
You want to play with JavaScript? Go make your own website and host it locally, you'll learn more that way anyways.

No support. This would be so easy to abuse. I am approaching my 2nd year on Scratch, and am still not as good a coder as some other Scratchers with the same time frame. This shows that not all Scratchers develop the same, and might not know how to use this editing properly. As IndexErrorException said, if you're interested in JavaScript, you can make your own website and host it locally.

But when you're that high up in a company you tend to deal more with logistics than the actual product, so the owner of Scratch would not be the best person anyway.
