For making complicated custom blocks that need variables, it seems kind of strange for them to need to use global or sprite variables that come from outside the block. Here's my idea of block variables.

This is where you can add variables, it's in the “Options” part.

This is where it appears on a block. (Say number + 3? Why does this need a variable?)

EDIT, REALIZED I FORGOT TO INCLUDE THIS: You drag the variable out of the definer like you would out of the block palette to add one. If you use it outside the custom block definition script it will report nothing. Also, when variable setters are put in the custom block definition their dropdowns change to add the block variables.
