Source? You did not provide proof that those 2 new sprites are AI. This would be spreading rumors, please dont do that.

Their adding an AI Assistant and no they are not adding AI Art Image whatever you want to call it
2.10 AI image generation in Scratch
The Scratch Team has experimented with AI image generation for Scratch in the past. There are benefits for enhancing creativity, including making it easier for Scratchers to make the costumes they want for their projects, as well as inspiring Scratchers to make new stories based on the images they generate. However, there are also many downsides, including ethical concerns arising from AI images using copyrighted material, biases present in AI which reinforce harmful stereotypes, the ease of creating inappropriate content, and the difficulty of accessing AI. For these reasons, the Scratch Team has stated that they will not be adding AI image generation to Scratch anytime soon. For more information, see this article.
However, the use of AI as a virtual assistant is NOT rejected. You can discuss it on this topic. In general, AI in Scratch is not entirely rejected; it depends on the specific use of the AI.
Also, note that the use of AI images in Scratch projects is allowed; for more information, see #3.7 on this list.

Top right, and that's the opposite of what they're asking, though it's still rejected:aight thanks.snipThe title…

3.7 Ban the use of AI images in Scratch projects
It is not possible to tell with 100% certainty whether or not a particular image was made with AI, and this would only get more difficult as AI improves, so it would not be possible to enforce such a ban. Moreover, AI has some benefits for enhancing creativity, including making it easier for Scratchers to make the costumes they want for their coding-focused projects, as well as inspiring Scratchers to make new stories based on the images they generate. As long as proper credit is given to the tool used to generate the images, it is allowed to use AI images in Scratch projects.
Note, however, that the Scratch Team will not be making a built-in AI image generator to the Scratch editor; for more information, see #2.10 on this list.

Anyways, rejected, as for what @mingo-gag stated. Not really. That TOLoRS quote is talking about AI image generation, while this one (as I see it) is about using AI generated art in the Scratch editor.
Obviously, though, it could go both ways. It's hard to tell what exact this is about. The OP should clear that up.
EDIT: Actually one post above me there is a much better reply.

if was actually AI generated
then you would have seen defects (especially on some llms)
and also also some LLMs has a weird habit
of adding a yellow tint into their images it generated
after looking at the sprites, they are definitely drawn by a human
and not an AI image generator
AI has an art-style that I can tell compared to non-AI art
