Do NOT Add Cat Blocks to Scratch
I know no one would say this ever but DO NOT, because it's going to be for the Membership.
Oh and Cat Blocks will get a high contrast mode too i guess.

Do NOT Add Cat Blocks to Scratch
Well they weren't going to do that anyways.
1.10 Permanent option for cat blocks
The cat blocks were created by the Scratch Team as a part of April Fools' Day, where some Scratch blocks like the one below had cat ears and a face on them. Many Scratchers adored the cat blocks and have suggested that the Scratch Team permanently keep them in the editor, or otherwise make a permanent toggle so users can turn them on or off. However, the cat blocks were intended to be temporary, and the Scratch Team has stated that they do not plan to bring them back as a permanent option. However, it is possible that they may temporarily come back during future April Fools' Day events.

https://github.com/scratchfoundation/scratch-blocks/pull/3411I used a TOLORS quoter that didn't close the tag, I don't usually mess up like that.
Someone forgot to close their tagsss!!
Anyways, that's a shame that a such beloved feature is now going to be paywalled.

Bump. It's practically at the second page, just 1 post away.

Bump. It's practically at the second page, just 1 post away.I would remind you that this is an egregious bump but I believe it is justified in this case.
Adding this only proves people already upset about the membership (which was meant to be a donation!) that it is becoming a problem.
Cat blocks should be added for everyone or no one. In between doesn't work.

It is not. This topic won't be obliterated if it gets off the front page. You are not allowed to bump a topic if it's still on the first page, no matter how much time has passed (and from the looks of it, it was only two hours anyway…)Bump. You can think of Scratch Membership like a yearly donation, with some fun surprises included. They said it was like a donation. It is called a membership though, and they made it very clear that people would be getting perks other people would not get getting.

And that's the issue. These kind of perks and advanced ranking were originally rejected by the Scratch Team for fears of bullying, a feeling of superiority, and scenarios like:Adding this only proves people already upset about the membership (which was meant to be a donation!) that it is becoming a problem.https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/843390/?page=1#post-8756510You can think of Scratch Membership like a yearly donation, with some fun surprises included. They said it was like a donation. TimmyScratch3: Grrr, how does Johnny get Cat Blocks and cat ears on his profile picture and not me? He thinks he's bigger than the program.. grrr!!!
JohnnyScratch9: Haha, Timmy is too poor to afford a Scratch Membership!
It was originally for April Fools, almost everyone loved it, Scratch didn't want to make it permanent, now they're locking it behind a paywall. Not cool.. Scratch Team.Cat blocks should be added for everyone or no one. In between doesn't work. Why not? I'm curious as to why you think that

I guess that might be. I don't have too much of an opinion on Scratch Memberships, I was more trying to clear things up. However, I don't get most of the hate. I don't know, it's not like I'm prevented from doing the stuff I used to do. Scratch has probably already accounted for hate/bullying against people with/without memberships, maybe they're training new mods or something or they have a new filter that might work better, or maybe they're just hoping it won't happen, I don't know
I'll be honest, I looked at the pull request and I didn't really understand it much. But I don't think we know for certain if they're going to be adding it. And we also don't know if it will ever be available to everyone. If it was “Members get Cat Blocks until we finish 4.0 or 4.5 or whatever, then they're for everyone” people would probably care a lot lessIt was originally for April Fools, almost everyone loved it, Scratch didn't want to make it permanent, now they're locking it behind a paywall. We just can't know for certain what Scratch will do, even if they tell us, because plans can change

Do NOT Add Cat Blocks to Scratch
snipThat is like saying it is okay to let some people break the law, because who knows, that might not be a law later.
It feels scummy to me. It has been repeatedly asked to add cat blocks back, and the ST rejected it because it was for april fools. Now, they are making it so you have to pay if you want them.

Rejected suggestions are not rules or laws. They can also be changed at any point in time
SourceScratch is going against their own policies that a former ST member (Za-Chary) made.Hold up, I didn't make these policies. Other Scratch Team members stated their rejections (not “policies”), and I forwarded their messages. Note that the status of rejected suggestions can change at the discretion of the Scratch Team.
And we aren't even sure if they're 100% going to add it or if it will stay member-only forever

Do NOT Add Cat Blocks to Scratch
snipJust a poor analogy, that was on me.
I still believe that it is not a good practice. The community at large has been requesting this feature for several years. it sets a bad precedent to add it as a paid feature rather than for everyone.

Also the precedent has been set since scratchr2 went closed-source honestly
Rejected suggestions are not rules or laws. They can also be changed at any point in timeAgreed (e.g rejection on censoring “mild swears” was removed) and frankly rejected suggestions should not have any bearing on what developers can add (given they are, suggestions, not whole feature additions)

support, if they add this for membership, along with the badges thing, it WILL cause a rift in the community, and we might even have another thanos cat incident (before you say I wasn't there, I was there at the end of it so I remember what happened.)

If S.T. adds cat blocks to the membership, they will probably get major backlash.
