Lemme try that. I created a new game called Stormy Blizzard (Demo.) The game is a scrolling platformer where you collect sticks for your campfire, while traversing the levels. (I accept feedback.)

Sorry to be a pessimist, not that this isn't generally good advice, but honestly even if you do all of that, most likely your topic will still get very little egagement.
The truth is that most people only come to the show and tell forum to promote their own stuff, they don't bother checking out other people's stuff.
I put hundreds or hours into a game, followed all these rules, and only have about 300 views on my topic after a few weeks of bumping. The only reply other than my own being a sarcastic remark about me still bumping. Frankly that is still probably much better than what most people will get.
I think the only way you get a succesful topic is if:
1. You are already well known on Scratch.
2. You are at least part of some kind of group on Scratch and people within that community are active on your post.
3. Other people have something to gain out of your project; for example, a game engine that can be easily modified.
If you have little established presence on Scratch your post is probably just going to be crushed under the never ending torrent of other posts.
But your advice is still true, it's better than posting “Check out my game!”, that for sure will get nothing. But people should still manage their expectations. I think the true secret to being succesful at Scratch is mastering the social game.
