I've seen a couple of topics recently about teachers not being able to add an entire grade to a class, due to newly lowered class size limits- and they can't just add a class of students per actual class, because they'll be in different classes next year and therefore those groups will be split up (and nobody likes loosing access to their work).

I'm proposing a way to move students between classes- but with the limitation that they can only be moved between one teacher's classes.

you have to request a teacher account here. keep in mind you do have to prove you are a real educator as the form asks for real credentials like the school district.

Maybe the transfer system should be where you can seamlessly move an entire class to another one. e.g. 6 classes. Class 5 needs to move to class 6 for the new school year- class 6's accounts can be ended or be added to a new 7 class. Then Class 6 is empty and class 5 can join in

I was thinking more like you can select students, up to all of the students in the class, and just select another class to move them to.

Kind of like moving files from one folder to another, where you can select individual files, multiple files, or all of the ones in the folder and move them somewhere else.

Moving all of the students in a class to another sounds good on the face of it, but it ultimately runs into the same issue teachers are having now (students aren't always in the same class next year), and there's also a chance that a student gets held back or moved up a grade, or scheduling makes them attend a different class than some others who were previously in that class, something that is fairly common in schools with a peroid-based daily schedule.

Unfortunately, there's no real way of knowing- there are topics from 2013 suggesting things that people continue to want (such as a dark mode), but haven't been added yet. It's only a suggestion at this point, and I don't even have a way of knowing if a Scratch Team member has seen this topic yet.

Great news! As of this morning, the cap on students per class has been raised from 40 to 150. This change was based on feedback from the Scratch community (including you!), which allowed our Product and Engineering Teams to determine a configuration that is both practical for educators and considerate of platform security for the larger Scratch Community using the platform.

That's good, and it fixes the main reason behind why I made this suggestion, although I'm going to keep this suggestion open for now, just in case that another use for this pops up in the future. I can still see this being useful for people who don't want a new Scratch account every year, for example.

2. Contact ur current teacher.
3. You will have to go on a new account if ur new teacher will use Scratch.

Even if the original reason is no longer as much of a problem, this would still be a nice feature to have, especially if a student transfers between classes at some point after account setup, or so that they can keep the same account as they move through grade levels without (as much of) an administrative mess on the school's side.
