S3RC v0.1 - A New TurboWarp-Exclusive 2D Game (not posted on Scratch, that's why)
It's been a while since I said anything about a new, vanilla Scratch-free project.
S3RC (or SSI Subspace Research Complex) is a new, TurboWarp-exclusive game, and an attempt to prove that I'm capable of creating a game by myself, that's unlikely to be released on Scratch. I started its progress in March of last year (under realSSERF) though it's eventually scrapped, and decided that this'll be my final “real” Scratch game in September. It went through some pretty fast development through the end of August 2024, when school started to take priority again. This weekend, a lot of progress was made, but before that it went static this August. I decided to start refurbishing it into S3RC two weeks ago!
I'm at a very odd point of development. Through researching on game design as a discipline, my views on games have changed quite a lot, and S3RC goes against a lot of the vanilla Scratch principles, which I'd like to stay true to with my future games. For this reason, it's very tempting to drop the Solarflow Science trilogy, but when I started it, there's one goal in mind: to finish it. For this reason, I'll be seeing it through to the end of September, as a proper sendoff to my Scratch existence. I still enjoy working on it however, and I learned so much with every hour spent on it.
There have been a lot of changes and new things added. I won't go through features and all the coding I've worked on, but aesthetically most of the graphics are great. The old realSSERF went through a great variety of major changes, which I think feels much more bold. The entire scene will soon be more exciting, hopefully! Currently, I'm just trying to figure out how to make a complex P&C game, but I think it has a lot to offer. I'm quite happy with the graphic design so far, but I'm sure there'll be some tweaks to the way it's animated.
I think that's what I've gotta tell you all now. Next week, I might look at making the jump from Scratch to Unity2D, so I can have more freedom in my interactive work. I'll start on early tutorials - although TypeScript is scary, I feel great about it. I expect, I'll be reproducing this final major project in Unity, with translations for multiple languages included too (both here and on Unity). Wish me luck on this sendoff, eh?

By the way, yeah - translators are needed for this self-proposed major project, and this SCGC game wouldn't become a creative milestone without multiple languages. You can DM me here if you want to help me.

Bumping this topic rn, hahahaha. Oh boy.
Anyways here's a hint to the devlog: go to my website (linked in my WIWO), look for the S3RC page and click it.
