You could just store the stickied comments with an extra attribute like “stickied = true” then, the JavaScirpt would just look for that param.Would it really? I feel like you would have to make a new structure for comments, because I don't think it would just take a button and a conformation, it HAS to have JavaScript to work.It would be easy to add to scratch it would only take about a few weeks to implement
True, can't just slap on a button and call it a day, but it's possible, Like the Ideas Page layout change, but a bit harder.

You could, but then they would need to store the attributes' definition. I suppose they could use the API.You could just store the stickied comments with an extra attribute like “stickied = true” then, the JavaScirpt would just look for that param.Would it really? Hi everyone!
I know this thread is pretty old, but I wanted to add my support for the “pin comment” feature because it would really help studios and projects stay organized.
For example, in my Weekly Shoutouts studio, having a pinned comment for important info and rules would make it much easier for new members to see key messages without scrolling through tons of comments.
I hope the Scratch team sees this and considers adding the feature soon!
Thanks for reading!

Yeah i think you should have to be at least a scratcher to use this feature just to prevent bots and spam. Small question:
Would you like to have a small setting where turning it on means all your comments can be pinned,
or
The owner of the project has to send a request, and only 3 per hour to prevent spam?
Also, should the account be at least be Scratcher status to use this feature?

I agree. Also, would anyone's messages be able to be pinned by the profile/project owner, or just the owner's comments? I feel like the latter would be better, just to prevent trolling.Yeah i think you should have to be at least a scratcher to use this feature just to prevent bots and spam. Small question:

It would also prevent new troll accounts from pinning messages that break the guidelines. I can think of some ways it could be abused in if new troll accounts have access to them.
Also, in the case of projects and studios, you can just put an important announcement in the studio description/project “Notes and Credits” section.
So, overall, I support, as long as:
- A Scratcher can only pin another Scratcher's comments with a request. (Please see https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/41402/?page=45#post-8684613)
- Comments can only be pinned in profiles.
- Only Scratchers can pin/sticky comments. New Scratchers should not be able to do this to prevent paid promotions and such.
Thanks!

Not true. Look at the first sticky in this forum. People rarely read the sticky topics so why would they start when they don't read project notes either?

You're saying this to someone who isn't on Scratch anymore..Not true. Look at the first sticky in this forum. People rarely read the sticky topics so why would they start when they don't read project notes either?
Also, he does kinda have a point for stickies. If more people would have read the stickied topics, then there wouldn't be that many rejected suggestions here.

If stickied comments were highlighted and displayed right below the comment box it would be harder to miss however. You're saying this to someone who isn't on Scratch anymore..Not true. That's a great idea, but 1 per hour seems like a lot. Maybe 15 minutes?I agree. Also, would anyone's messages be able to be pinned by the profile/project owner, or just the owner's comments? Quoting their own comments would be the safest option, but sometimes we get some funny comments from others that we want to pin. I see a lot of people that don't read the instructions/NnC that go straight to the comments. Putting the funny comment in the NnC would be nice, but not a lot of people would see it.
Maybe the owner of the project could send pinning requests to the commentor, only 1 request per hour to prevent spam. I think that would be a good solution. Also the commentor has to be at least a Scratcher to get pinned

I wonder, which one would be better? 1 request every 15 minutes, or 4 requests per hour?
1 request every 15 minutes, because there will very rarely have a scenario where a Scratcher needs to make 4 reqs at once.

this is good bc if some1 had to put smth (like an ad for a new project or smth) they would have to close comments and make sure their the top comment
