She is a very kind, motivation person. She makes a good impression on everyone, and everyone trusts her.

appearance: long brown hair, brown eyes, average height, wearing a white masquerade mask (with what seems like cat ears on them)

background information: As a child she loved to talk to animals so her parents thought she was prodigious, she was sent to an academy and then ran away where she grew up in a nice household, with an old woman. She's quite temperamental, and even though not in fact prodigious, she is very clever yet very genuine.

background information: She's a former politician/secretary general of the space un, and she failed to stop the apocalypse. She found herself working for some kind of rebellion as a secret agent because of an evil alien galactic empire invasion, and then while trying to time travel back to try and fix the past mistakes, she got stuck in the current era. She's extremely smart, witty and intelligant, she prefers not to be dishonest, but is still quite guarded and still truthful when she can.

background information: A (supposedly) orphaned heiress with no living family, Ruby's vivacious and bold personality have taken society by storm. In reality, her goods are ill-gotten gain. She is not one to be trusted, and is quite witty with an edge of malice to some conversations. She's extremely curious - could be considered as nosey.
occupation: Unconfirmed, but said to be a thief.
appearance: Curly brown hair, green eyes, almost always in red, such as her mask, dress and bag

name: Elliot Williams-Jones (@surfdudewave)
background information: New to Victorian society, elliot is an arriviste whose mysterious source of wealth is attributed to a recently deceased uncle who was known for his reclusive habits.They are intelligent and well-spoken, though evasive when questioned about their past. they are friendly and interested in the other members of the ball. Tends to dance around matters they would prefer not to discuss and is willing to distort the truth for personal advancement.

appearance: They have wavy black hair grown out to their shoulders, gray-green eyes, and a light dusting of freckles across their face

name: Fini Holmes (@essayist)
background information: Fini holmes was the firstborn to the holmes family—brilliant, observant, and far too sharp for her own good. Her birth, however, was seen as a curse by her deeply superstitious parents. convinced that a daughter would bring ruin, they buried her existence in family records and cast her out to live with a distant aunt in rural scotland. Cunning, strategic, clever and ruthless, extremely smart and can speak several languages.

background information: Szeyan was born in a middle-class family in hong kong, and she always aspired to be an idol. Was never originally meant to come to the party. As she received a mysterious phone call from an unknown agency that pays for her flight to what was allegedly where the company's building was located, but instead it was the manor. She's very pure, and is not one known to be truthful, however does not know many at the event and is soft spoken.

appearance: slightly wavy, medium length hair that is naturally brunette but dyed a shade of light dusty pink, wearing a formal dress with a blazer over the top, as she wasn't prepared for the masquerade.

name: Nycren (@28thDimension)
background information: An enigmatic former con artist and current magician/illusionist who may or may not also happen to be a professional assassin who is, as of now, wanted across 27 dimensions. Elusive and intimidating, can be deceptive whilst speaking, not likely to give out much information, may or may not speak in riddles.
occupation: Illusionist and Magician
appearance: Light skin, shoulder-length choppy black hair left down. She is only ever seen in one outfit and one outfit only at any given time of year, which consists of a white dress shirt, black blazer, dress pants, top hat and cape, as well as white gloves.

name: Lynx (@icebunny11)
background information: Lynx has no home, constantly wandering wherever she sees fit for her survival. She grew up nowhere and everywhere, and is a pessimist if you're ever seen one. She will steal if she needs to. Lynx is someone who only trust you if you get to know her motives properly. If she doesn't know you and she has no reason to trade with you, you will probably be met with a dead end just for the fun of it. But she is pretty candid, and nice once you do meet her. Loves to have a good drink.

Daiyu is very composed, calculated, and enigmatic. There is rarely a smile on her face. When there is, it looks obviously rehearsed. She views everything as a negotiation or business transaction. Her actions can be explained by the passing of her older sister, leaving her lost and her company crumbling.

name: Dr. Iilysh Graves (@cceaneyes)
background information: A physician that was widely recognised, Iilysh left the public eye after rumors spread that she had intentionally prolonged the illness of a noble patient for study. Though never proven, the scandal ended her career. Now she appears only at select masquerades, clinical and composed, observing others with unsettling precision. She speaks rarely but remembers everything, and is good at finding out trued intentions even when it's hidden behind a facade.

appearance: Tanned skin, dark red gown with high collar and long sleeves, deep red mask with a subtle matte finish. Always carries a small purse with essential medical equipment in it. Wearing a dark red shade of lipstick.

I think since this is the first round of questioning, maybe we should ask pretty simple questions like “Where were you when the doors locked?” or maybe “Did you see any suspicious activity before the doors locked?”

Ooh yes those are good ideas! So maybe we could ask 3 questions each, the first 2 could be the same/similar and then the 3rd question could be personalised to the suspect. Unless anyone thinks 3 questions would be too many?

I definitely agree! I'm okay with questioning anyone, but I'm also okay with letting someone else do it if they want to! And for Xu, definitely offering something in exchange for information (mangoes? money? other information?).
