Every 6 years, a new Scratch update would be put into the main website, the previous one also being added, but in offline mode. Scratch 1.0 comed out in 2007, 2.0 in 2013, and 3.0 in 2019. Since 2019+6=2025, it means that theoretically, Scratch 4.0 will come out this year. And if thats true, what new features will there be? Will the forums finally have a newer UI, will we have a better reporting system (you can get banned by simply mentioning social media), will we have new blocks that can FINALLY make projects better in every way? I wanna know! Imagine having 120 FPS, high quality pen, maybe even new extensions, who knows? Only time can tell.

Also, there are no public GitHub repositories by the Scratch Team for 4.0, and pages are still in 2.0. I honestly feel like Scratch 4.0 would be very rushed if it came out this year too. When 3.0 was in development, there was a public beta.

No, development started does not mean development finished. 2.0 was announced in Jan of 2010, and released May 9th, 2013. Development takes a long time.

3.0 still isn't finished - it's gonna be a while before we see 4.0.
