The Oregon Trail

RIP KIRBY AND PIKACHU

I was playing Oregon Trail Deluxe and they were the first two, and only ones, to die. I changed my rations and pace from Meager and Strenuous to Filling and Steady afterwards.

The Oregon Trail

I decided to play as Teacher in Oregon Trail (1991), and a thief stole nearly $1000 worth of anti-money. XD

Also, almost all of my Deadly Six Five died near the end. ;_;

Nice Oregon Trail mouse art, anyway

The Oregon Trail

Yesterday, I finally managed to reach Oregon on II (I only reached Salt Lake City previously) and everyone but Blaze the Cat, who suddenly died from a rattlesnake bite, made it. Even though I selected my profession as Banker and role as greenhorn, I went in 1848 and forgot about the skills. I tweeted about this and the official Oregon Trail Twitter retweeted it.

Only buy as much oxen as possible, not any other animal. Buy lots of bacon, preserved produce, and salt (for both preserving meat and treating illnesses), as well as a couple of ropes and chains, winter coats, and wagon supplies. Accidents in hunting are surprisingly common and can land you a quick game over, but fortunately, unless you start your journey with only a little bit of money, you won't need to hunt at all (if you plan on hunting, buy some boxes of bullets, a few rifles, and couple of iodine, hydrogen pyroxide, and isopropyl alcohol to treat those wounds). After all of that, you will not need anything else (okay, maybe some medicine if you're not going steady and eating full meals for the whole entire trip). Most importantly, read the guide book and use common sense.

Since I'm bumping a topic with no posts for over 2 years, has anyone heard of the 2021 game, which aims to represent Native Americans accurately and includes them as playable characters? That is something we really need for the present day, since people have been overlooking the negative impact westward settlement has made on Native Americans.

The Oregon Trail

One day, on Oregon Trail II, I managed to get all the way to Oregon with only horses. Since I had the farming/animal skill one, none of them died. (I like to play as a doctor since you get the automatic medical skill, which will reduce the chances of people dying from disease or injury, and still lots of moneh.)

Yesterday, I was trying to get to Willamette Valley as a banker in 1840. It took nearly a year and I died at the Columbia River rafting part (IT'S SO DIFFICULT TO CONTROL!!).

Apparently, characters in this game can drown in two feet of water. That's fabulous.
Plot Twist: Or maybe the ppl in the game are miniatures.
