Add a "curators only" option for studio comments
I 100% support this! For added measure, maybe ST can implement something that allows all managers to close comments? I’m sure that that would stop the Scratch Elites in their tracks, considering most of the time the current hosts are offline which leaves an ST member to close them for us

Good idea but if the comment is only curators(lets assume st didn't make the curator only a separate comment section), how would someone apply to join? Would they have to comment on a curators profile? One other problem, if a curator leaves, what happens to their comments?I said it would be an option, and you can close and re-open comments to non curators whenever you want.
I think this would be helpful, however, simply turning off and on the comments would still make it hard for people to become curators. Also, this would discourage the share part of Scratch, and others might feel left out by this. Some could even do this on purpose.
But with GWDFI and the Hive you can ask on their profiles, and besides even if they did do it on purpose that would actually be beneficial for some people. There are people who might try to harass or spread rumors about someone, most likely the studio host and all that and having the curators only option would keep away cyberbullies for the most part.

support; everyone else on both this and the last couple pages have already said what my reasoning for the support is. (spam raids on bigger studios, rule breakers on smaller/other studios and seperation of curators and non-curators in certain cases [ie. organized roleplay studios with the toggle on to encourage signing up elsewhere <on scratch> for an invite to be able to comment] are the only 3 reasons actually)

I am unsure if this has been proposed already, but alongside this there could be a whitelist feature for trusted Scratchers who are active on the studio, in case they choose not to curate.

Sometimes you want a studio's comments to be spam-free, and in RPs people dont want comments like “this is bad i dont want to join” or any useless stuff like that. This could solve the problem. It will be an option, like “allow anyone to add projects”. And people can't PM because everyone can see the comments, and they would still be reportable. An alternative is add a “curators board,” which would be like the comments but only curators can post. NO saying support/no support without any reason.I support and don't support at the same time. What if its a studio where you have to ask to join? There would have to be a request for joining, and to managers it would have to say “Username has asked to join studio name.” I kinda support though.

What if people wanted to join the studio?they can ask a manager
But how? Would they have to go to their pf? Because they couldn’t comment in the studio.

Also, a lot of studios have a, “Sign up studio”, where you request to join, even though commenting is already turned on. I'm sure studio hosts will think about how to add new members beforeWell yeah,, how else???What if people wanted to join the studio?they can ask a manager

Support! I think it'd be nice to have an announcements tab for managers as well! This would help keep studios WAYYY more organized and be good for group projects as well!

Support! This could help increase the emphasis on collaboration and learning for people because having exclusive comments helps with a feeling of inclusion and dependency. Outside people with ideas can put them on other places, where it can be sorted out with any spam at certain times. This will help people who want a more close-knit group of collaborators for specific purposes.
(I know there are a lot of support reasons, but most of them are based in chatrooms which are not really the point of Scratch, so if we want this in Scratch we need to find ways this will go into Scratch's design philosophy.)

I'm bumping this up because I still feel this is important. The spam on popular studios has only gotten worse, and more inappropriate. And it's branched to other studios that aren't as popular as well. I feel my previous posts made in this thread still stand as well.

Commenting here again—I think this is needed now more than ever. If there will be ONE time Scratch implements a widely wanted feature in the near future, I think it needs to be this one. Spam now has grown to contain offsite links and genuinely offensive content, and I've seen trolling using different symbols. (Such as earlier today with a really gross bypassed discussion post).
This is generally a feature that would be in the best interest of studio managers and the children that are meant to be protected on this website. We cannot have comments closed all the time because there are not proper precautions to ensure this won't happen.

Absolutely agree- I would argue that at this point its the only way to stop mass spam- which is unanimously problematic. Spammers aren't going to stop and its not just a problem of annoyance- its genuinely causing distress. This feature is not only nice but necessary- bumping. please add

If it's a studio like that than just make it so anyone can comment, simple as thatSometimes you want a studio's comments to be spam-free, and in RPs people dont want comments like “this is bad i dont want to join” or any useless stuff like that. They said that this would be optional, so if it's an ask to join studio than just keep it so anyone can comment. Also, a lot of studios have a, “Sign up studio”, where you request to join, even though commenting is already turned on.
