Blocking people
Dear scratch team
Why can't Scratchers block people? I know you think that blocking people is something like getting a temporary ban on someone, but what I mean by blocked is like blocking a contact, in more simple terms, in my way of blocking people, is that you should make a button on users that says “Block” and when you press that button, a message will pop up saying “you have blocked this person”. So what happens? Well, when you block someone, they won't get a message saying that someone blocked them. Instead, when the person who is blocked want to go on your profile, they will receive a message saying “this user has blocked you”. Another thing that happens is that all the comments that you have posted will be disabled through the blocked user's acc, and if you are on any studios, then your acc won't show up on their acc, too. But YOU can still go on their profile (if you blocked them, first). NOTICE: If you have already blocked someone and don't want to block them anymore, you can simply go on their profile and click the “Block?” button which has turned into an “Unblock?” button. And then they will be allowed to see your user again.
I believe this new feature will have a great impact on scratch, like if someone's being cyberbullied or harassed, they can simply use this feature!

Unfortunately, this suggestion appears to be rejected.
From The Official List of Rejected Suggestions:
From The Official List of Rejected Suggestions:
8.6 Blocking or ignoring Scratchers
This suggestion refers to an optional system that makes it so that you do not have to see comments that a particular user posts. This feature existed in Scratch 1.4, but the Scratch Team found that it buried any problems rather than solving them. Even if you block a user, that does not stop them from harassing other Scratchers, and also does not stop them from making more accounts to harass you further. The Scratch Team also found that some would use the block button in ways that were unwelcoming to other Scratchers of a certain identity. For more information, see this post.
If someone is being disrespectful, be sure to report that user with the Report button, or use the Contact Us link if the situation requires more explanation.
However, a system to block users while simultaneously reporting them is NOT rejected. You can discuss it on this topic.

The block and report system would work well.
