“Save Now” button doesn’t appear when you show/hide a variable in the project editor.
My browser / operating system: IPad iOS 16.1.1, ChromeiOS 134.0.6998.33, No Flash version detected
Expected Behaviour
You should be able to save the project when showing/hiding a variable in the project editor.
Actual Behaviour
The Save Now button does not appear when showing/hiding a variable in the project editor.
How to Replicate
1. Make a variable. Name it anything you want.
2. Hide/show the variable.
3. The Save Now button should appear, but it doesn’t.

Are you sure that it's supposed to show the save button? It's been like that for awhile, and considering how you can use blocks to change a variable's/list's visibility, scratch might classify it as an in-game change.

The “Save Now” button also doesn't appear when you add/remove items from a list.

An easy fix is to drag a block in the code area, or drag one of the blocks in the pallet slightly to the right. That will cause the “save now” button to show up.
You can also go to File > Save Now

If you click on “File” at the top left, there is an option to manually save the project.

That's what I usually do, but here's the thing- if you close the tab, there's no “Leave site? Changes you made may not be saved” popup in web browsers. This can mean that you lose all of your work with lists (I've done it) when you close out of the tab, forgetting that you needed to save the project. Oh, I usually don't edit lists by hand so I've never had that issue lol

Whether or not the save now button appears, you can always do ctrl+s to save your projects after minor edits.

This. You definitely wanna get into the habit of pressing Ctrl+S. For me, when I'm working on something in any program I just spam Ctrl+S, unless I'm making a change that I'm unsure about. It's better to overdo it than to lose your work.
