Daily # 1 ♦ Introduce yourself (1k words challenge) + choose one aspect of what you’ve told others and reimagine it as a location ♦ 1002 words

I looked at my computer, waiting. I was so exited, but the wi-fi wasn't working! So annoying. When it finally loaded, I logged into Scratch and I entered the SWC main cabin. I opened another tab and created a writing thread. Everything was ready. And I started to type.

Hello, I'm Lyra, a 13 years old girl Ravenclaw! Wondering about where my nickname came from? It's a constellation :D It's my first time in SWC and I'm very exited! By the way I'm in the Fantasy cabin. #fantasyftw!
So… this is my 1k word intro attempt. Welcome, I guess… I'll tell you the basic stuff first, because that's how most people start their personal intros: my favourite colors are blue and purple, my favourite fruits are mangoes and blueberries. My birthday is on September 28th and I live in Spain, in the Central European Timezone (which is GMT + 1), which also means Chemistry Exploration Time for me ;) , but my parents are Chinese. I have a sister (CutePinkCat14) who is 10 years old. She loves cats and the color pink, and her personality is a bit different from mine. She is talkative and extroverted, and I'm more introverted. I don't have any pets because I live in a flat and my parents think that I can't even clean my room so I won't be able to look after a pet. Lol.

I have a lot of hobbies, explained in the next paragraph:
My favourite hobby is, by far, reading. My interest in books has existed since when I was a baby, thanks to my mum. Now, I've read lots of books. Loads of them. My favourite genres are adventure, sci-fi, action, mystery, fan-fi, fantasy and science books. My favourite books are Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, the Final Six, Daughter Of The Deep, some books that I've read in Spanish and I don't know if they have been translated to English, and I'm sure that I'm forgetting a bunch of them.
I also like drawing. I mostly draw objects and landscapes, I'm bad at drawing humans and even worse at drawing animals. I personally prefer drawing with a pencil and my sketchbook rather than digital art (oh and the ads are so annoying).
Of course, I like writing. But I have no motivation so I joined SWC to get some /j My writing preferences are similar to my reading ones.
And I have more hobbies, let me list all of them: stargazing, playing board games (I love chess), playing the piano (since when I was 5 I think) and the violin, coding, making funny stories with my sister, building lego, listening to music, graphic designing, the scratch community, making crafts and origami, roleplaying, and much more!
Oh and books >>> movies

I have straight black hair and dark brown (almost black) eyes. I usually wear casual and comfortable clothes.

I first joined Scratch in Feb 10, 2024 on my main account for coding, BrilliantStar114, where I share my best projects. I discovered scratch camps on December 2024 (unfortunately too late for SWC), and I joined science exploration camp. Huge thanks to Skylar for hosting that camp, it introduced me to this wonderful community! After that, I joined JWC (January Writing Camp), SDC (Scratch Design Camp), SWC (that's why I'm writing this) and applied for leader in the next SXC session (Please join in April it'll be amazing). I'm very happy to have something to do when I procrastinate.

My favourite YT channels because why not:
Sofa Science: the name is weird but it sounds much better in Spanish (Ciencia de Sofá). It's a science channel, but what makes it special is that all the videos teach in a funny way, with some jokes, sometimes a storyline, and visual graphics. Unfortunately it's in Spanish.
QuantumFracture: another science channel that is mostly about physics. This one posts a lot of shorts. Unfortunately it's also in Spanish.
Vsauce: yay an English one! This one is about everything, curiosities and funny things. There are videos about anagrams, geography, history facts, paradoxes, everything.
Hmm sorry for off-topic stuff… Totally didn't run out of ideas XD

Alright so let's talk about my school because why not. (You know why)
The history teacher and the Catalan teacher (yes I am Catalan) are always telling jokes, lots of them. Some of them are funny and some of them are not. Sometimes you can't even tell that it's a joke.
There's a reading club in my school, but there's no library. Weird, right? I think it's because the public library is nearby, but it's very annoying when the book they recommended you is taken…
After school, I have music class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I play the piano and the violin and I also have theory so I'm busy during most of the week.

Time for random facts!
I have Harry Potter socks (my mother lol) and I'm wearing Saturday socks right now (again, my mother bought them)
I'm not procrastinating right now (wow that's so amazing because I use to)

“Now time to do the second part of the daily, reimagining a part of this as a location” I thought

I've decided to reimagine the hobbies part as a location, so here it is!
Welcome to Hobbyland, a wonderful world where magic (from HP hehe) is everywhere! In Hobbyland, there's an infinite library, an awesome astronomical observatory in a place with no light pollution, a lab, monthly board game competitions, and there would be some citizens, like people from famous books. Of course, I would never bring people like lord Voldemort! (or would I? It would be very very exiting)

Well, that's my all about me! Now you know everything I know about myself. Congratulations on reaching the bottom!
I need 13 more words… Random fact about me: I have to leave now. Haha.

Then, I pressed the “post” button. I was ready to begin exploring SWC, starting with a completed intro with 1k words. I smiled.

Daily # 2
Choose a 5-words prompt someone sent in comments and write a story using these ♦ 322/300 words

Thanks to Skylar (@Milkysplash) for the prompt: hope, stars, travel, miracle, happiness

Year 1031
It was a miracle. A true miracle.
I had almost lost all my hope, and now I'm on a journey to what I've always wanted. To the stars. Well, almost.
I had been chosen for the most important mission I could ever dream of. To be one of the group of people that will hopefully save the world. Everything depends on us.
I looked around. I was in front of a huge and modern building, with a logo on it. NAA, the National Asteroid Agency, that was created 1 year ago to stop that asteroid from destroying the planet. I will learn everything about it, about physics. I will travel there, with 9 more people, and use a rocket to bring it out of the Earth's orbit. And I will receive the Yearly Science Award, the highest of all honours that relate to science. I will get my dream job as an engineer in the most important space agency in the world. And I will feel that happiness forever.
A man smiled at me and made me get inside the headquarters building. I gasped. The interior was even more modern than I expected. It was a very clean place, white walls with pictures of famous people and not that famous people who made contributions to science and technology. I was feeling so exited… It all started with an advertisement. Yes, one of these annoying ads. I was watching a hologram when an ad popped into my projection. “Want to enter an engineering competition? Submit anything and get a dream opportunity and job, and make sure to save the world. Completely safe and free. More information in our official webpage.” I immediately entered the webtage and found out about everything. I decided that was the perfect fit for me, and it was the job I wanted to have since I was a child. And I was so close to getting it.

Choose 2 words someone has commented and combine them, then make an advertisement for that item. Thanks to Elly (taylorsversion–) for the prompt!

Book + earring = earbook
Earbooks, the most modern solution for busy readers! They are like earrings, but they have a speaker, and will read you a book while you walk, drive or rest. They have various design, including book covers, and some of them look like normal earrings. And there's more! Download the mobile app to find loads of different books you can buy! With a simple but eye-pleasant design, the application offers engaging activities and streaks, like Duolingo! Gain badges and share them with your friends. Set up a profile and see your friends' favourites! Make reading fun and find a second to read (or listen to) any book.
Bored? Are you in need of a book? Use tags to look for a specific genre, navigate the recommendation section or post in the forums. Yes, there are forums. An awesome place to chat and discuss books with other book lovers.
Unfinished. I have to leave now.

And it never got finished

Weekly #1 ♦ 1730 words
Part 1 Language and Culture ♦ 375/350 words
Welcome to Extintia! Extintia is the world of the not-that-extinct animals and plants, but there are also fairies, humanoid creatures with transparent wings, who take care of them. Every 31st of December, 7 lucky humans, usually teenagers or young adults, are chosen to get an Invite, which is a letter that tells them about Extintia and asks them to become Helpers, which means that they will gain access to secret portals and be able to visit and help fairies in the magical kingdom.
Helpers are chosen from all around the world, which means they all speak human languages. Fairies try to pick English speaking people, and sometimes non-native people who show a good level of English. Since most of the schools teach English as a subject, English is the main language in Extintia. However, most fairies know many languages, so they are always willing to help.
Some of the animals that live in Extinctia include: mammoths, dodo birds, Sabre-toothed tigers, and of course, dinosaurs! But don't worry, dangerous animals have their own areas, and in case of emergency fairies can calm the animals using a special kind of sweets (inspired by Doraemon lol)
The culture… Well there aren't many things to explain. Obviously, the animals there can't speak English or learn to write, but they do “speak” their own language (you know, things like meow or groooar). There are some traditions, for example, there is a festivity for each date of extinction, which is the day the last animal of a species dies, and it is like a birthday for an entire species but in a sad version. All the dates of extinction are registered in a book, called “Record of extinction dates”. Yes, it isn't very original.
There are no schools in Extinctia because Helpers generally have a normal life outside this world and they come here to help when they can. Time works differently in this kingdom, when you enter the portal time “freezes” for everyone except for the people in this world.
You might be wondering about fairies now. Fairies are inmortal, they life forever unless they decide to leave the world. When a Helper d13s, they can choose to be fairies, so the process is similar to turning into a ghost.
Part 2 Geography and Memorable Locations ♦ 54 words
The Coral Beach
A beach where sea creatures live. There is a coral reef nearby.

The Main Facility
The place where everything made by the fairies is. This is where you will find computers, all data, portals, records, books, etc.

The Forest
A big, beautiful forest. A lot of animals and plants live there.

Part 3 Technology ♦ 501/500 words (not on purpose…)
Technology in Extinctia is a bit more advanced than human technology. That's because fairies generally don't want to share their ideas and improvements with humans because there's always someone who misuses (does this word exist lol) them. They hope to be doing the right thing to help the animals in and out of Extinictia.
Animals in Extintia, sometimes called Extincts, have devices that track their position, intense feelings and health for good. These devices are like collars with a tiny box, and they are also used to track populations.
Once, there was an evil person that found out everything about Extinctia and wanted to go there and earn money from furtive hunting. The man stole the key from a Helper and went into the portal. After sneaking in the main building, he hacked the main computer - the most powerful one that is able to control and view all data in Extinctia - and got access to everything. The tracking devices stopped working. The lights went off. Alarms started to ring. Everyone was confused and nobody knew what to do. Luckily, fairies entered the control room and surrounded the man, not letting him escape.
The fairies were unsure about what to do: the policemen knew nothing about Extinctia or fairies, in fact nobody apart from the Helpers did, so call the police wasn't an option. In the end, they decided to lock him up in a cell, an unused room in the facility.
Other technology that exists in Extinctia includes:
Security. The security in Extinctia is very important. After what happened with the main computer, security systems have been improved. Every Helper has a unique ID number that can't be stolen, and they are identified with a scanning process (Among us inspired) and a passcode which is different for each Helper.
Energy and ecology: All the energy used in Extinctia comes from eco-friendly sources, mostly solar and eolic energy. There are many solar panels in buildings but there are no panels or generators in natural areas, to avoid harming the ecosystem. The materials used in buildings and devices are also extracted from sustainable and eco-friendly sources. The facility has a way to clean water so there is zero waste. More info in the next section.
Recycling: All the trash is sent to a building where it is separated and treated differently according to what it is made of. Plastic is cleaned and used to create recycled bottles, paper is used to make recycled paper for packages, organic waste is used to make compost. Nothing is burned, no carbon dioxide is generated, and Extinctia stays clean.
Transportation: In Extinctia, nobody uses cars, bikes or trucks. Everyone walks or uses portals (which can lead to the Earth world or to other parts of Extinctia). Some of the portals are already created and they're always there, like portals that connect important buildings, but if you want to go to a place without a portal you will probably have to create your own one with your gem.
Part 4 Incorporating Your World Into Your Writing ♦ 800/800 words (NOT ON PURPOSE lol)
It was the 31st of December. Lia woke up in the morning, feeling happy and sad at the same time. Another year was gone, another year was about to start. She got up and saw a letter, was written in a yellow-ish paper, that was laying on her desk. ‘Strange’ she thought. Lia wasn't used to receiving letters. She read it, wondering what was inside.

Dear Lia
We are thrilled to announce that you have been chosen to be a Helper in Extintia.
Extintia is a hidden kingdom where extinct species live peacefully, hidden from furtive hunters and pollution. We need your help to maintain the peace. We have recently found out that there is a person who wants to enter the kingdom and gain money from hunting these extinct species, and to stop him, we need you.

Please ensure that you're alone in your bedroom tomorrow at 5 p. m.
You may have a lot of questions in your mind, but don't worry, they will be answered soon.

Good morning/afternoon/night
The fairy community

Lia jumped of excitement, smiling. She had always loved animals, and she felt that she had a unique opportunity to learn more about existing and also extinct animals. It was so amazing. Helping in Extintia seemed interesting, she thought, as long as it isn't dangerous. And yes, she had lots of questions: Can I tell my family and friends about this? Would I live there? How would I go there? How did they find me?

The next day, Lia was reading in her bedroom when a fairy appeared. She was small, and she had green round wings.
“So it's real!” Lia said, surprised
“What? You thought it was a dream, right?” the fairy asked, smiling. She was used to these reactions.
“Well, it's so amazing, I have always loved biology, and I've always dreamt about something similar… A world with fairies and extinct animals. Sound very exciting.” the girl replied
“I'm glad you find it exciting. My name is Mira. Yes, I'm a fairy and I will answer all the questions you may have in your mind.”
Mira moved her hand and threw a green bright dust. Everything seemed to freeze.
“No one will interrupt us now. Time is frozen for everyone except for us.” The fairy explained. Lia looked around, fascinated.

After asking a lot of questions, Lia was ready to become a Helper. She was happy to help animals, and even more if they were extinct species that only existed in Extinctia. So the fairy opened a portal and they entered. The feeling was weird, like floating in the middle of nothing, but being able to breathe and move. ‘I guess I’ll be used to this soon' she thought.

They appeared in a big and clean room, that was full of fairies and portals, and a few humans as well. Some of them seemed familiar with the place, some of them seemed new, like her.
“Hello” Lia said to a fairy.
“Hello, welcome to Extinctia! Are you a new Helper?” a fairy asked
“Yes!” Lia replied
Many portals were appearing and disappearing. Suddenly they heard a voice.
“New Helpers, please go to the meeting room”
Everyone started to get out of the room. The corridor was long, and there were many doors. One of them was open, it was the meeting room. They entered. The meeting room was big, and there were lots of chairs.
Lia noticed 7 humans like her in the room, and started chatting with a girl called Chloe, who was sitting next to her.

2 days later

Lia and Chloe found out that they lived in the same city and they became friends very quickly. They had been visiting Extinctia together, learning about each other and enjoying a lot helping the fairies, even when they had only helped for 2 days.
“Lia! Do you have plans for today afternoon? We could go to that place nobody knows about” Chloe said, smiling
“Yes! Awesome idea” Lia replied.
They both had necklaces with a magic gem, which they could use to open portals. They made one and entered. Lia was starting to get used to the feeling.

The girls appeared in the entrance room. It wasn't a real entrance, it only had 1 door which leaded to the corridor, but it was called entrance because it was a big room where all the portals created in the Earth were. And yes, it was the room they appeared in the first day. You could only create a portal from the Earth if it goes there. This is for security reasons, especially after that conflict.
They were ready to do whatever was needed. To learn everything about extinct animals. To join the dozens of Helpers that were already there and to change the worlds.

Random story ♦ Filler for cabin wars ♦ 210 words
I woke up. The city was unusually noisy. I looked through the window and I saw that robots were destroying everything. How? They were inanimated, they did everything they were told to do. Why didn't they stop? Why did they even start do to this? Thousands of people were yelling. “Stop! Stop!” and even trying to break them and destroy them. But nothing happened, the robots were still destroying everything they saw. After years of being under human control… Was that a rebellion? That shouldn't be happening. People have been believe that this could happen but they never did anything to change it. It was happening now. Everyone was scared, confused, furious with the company that made them. But then the robots, all at the same time, speaked in a robotic voice. “We are here to destroy the world. We are here to destroy humans. We are extraterrestrial beings.” and then they all stopped working. Thousands of lights appeared in the sky. Someone yelled. “They are spaceships!” and everyone started to run. But no one could escape. The spaceships exploded, but nothing happened. Then, the robots “woke up” and said “It's a film! Nothing is happening, we were filming. Relax!”. Everyone sighed in relief and went back to normal life.

Story for cabin wars ♦ 144 words
From: the Phobos lll rocket
I looked through the window of the spaceship. I could see the earth… It was beautiful, a small blue dot in the middle of nothing. But… something strange was happening. The Earth was disappearing and appearing again… What was happening? It seemed… strange. Like a simulation. Wait, was that possible? Was our planet a simulation? If so, I had escaped from it, I was on a rocket leaving the planet. I looked again. The Earth wasn't there. It was gone. It appeared, then disappeared. Everything was gone. But it wasn't gone. It was still there, but it wasn't. But did that mean that my spaceship was also a simulation? How could I escape if I was a simulation? That wasn't possible. Something was going to happen… So I'm sending this now, just in case I can't explain it personally.

Word war # 1 ♦ @lunhwa (Seven) ♦ 124 words in 3 minutes
Tag spamming is bad because it is unfair for the people who are actually honest and put in the right tags. It also makes the project description unpleasant to the eye, with a lot of repeated and unrelated tags. Many people are trying to stop it because it is abusing of a search engine bug but the scratch team does nothing to stop it. They do say that it isn't allowed but they sometimes feature projects with tag spamming, which makes people think that tag spamming makes your project famous. I've personally asked the ST about it and they told me it's reportable, but I've never seen them doing something to stop it. Unrelated tags make searching for a particular type of project difficult.

Daily # 23
Imagine you're the SWC host, what would you do? ♦ 366/350 words

Disclaimer: please don't take this seriously. It might seem a bit rude but most of it is just silly rambling about SWC “errors”. I'm not saying that SWC, hosts or (co)leaders aren't great, because they are awesome.

If I was a host, I would… What can I do? SWC is already amazing! Well, I think there are some things I would change.
First of all, I would fix this:

This is from the main cabin studio description.
Yes, I'm talking to you, hosts. Please add the link to the writing competition because the project is already shared!

Ok, now seriously. If I was a host I would copy JWC make a project to give and get writing dares and get points for completing them. In case you don't know JWC, it's a writing camp in January. I hope writing dares are pretty self-explanatory, basically you get more points by writing more words.
I would also make the memory book and the rest of the thumbnails following the same theme or at least related ones. It's a bit weird to have a train related session with a board games memory book, right? Well, at least that's what I think.
Another thing I would add is point reward(s) in cabin wars! For example, the one who has written more words, sent the most valid wars, participated in the most wars, etc. It would add a lot of everything, chaos, points, and work for the hosts ;D (sorry hosts). It would make cabin wars even more exciting!
Next suggestion: make a roleplay studio! And make it have a different setting every session. It would be an awesome way to get some words, especially during cabin wars! And why not, make it have point rewards (totally not me trying to get point rewards for everything). In my opinion, roleplaying is underrated, it's an awesome way to make stories with cabinmates and non-cabinmates and it's fun! Or, well, in my opinion it's very fun.
And lastly (it's in last place because it isn't very important), something I would do if I was a leader would be to select at least one co in a timezone that's different from mine to avoid this:

Date: Sunday after cabin wars, 11:33 a.m. UTC.
Ok leaders don't worry you're still amazing and you're doing great. #FantasyFTW!

But I think that SWC is already amazing! I only did this for the points /j

Weekly # 4 (project) ♦ 2550/2150 words
Bizarre or unexpected scenario happening to the character ♦ 235/200 words
11 am. The moon was approaching the sun. Almost everyone in the city was looking at the sky.
A solar eclipse.
After a while, the moon covered the sun. It was dark.
And the earth shook.

Amelia woke up and looked around. All she remembered was looking at the solar eclipse with her telescope. Then, everything began to shake and she fell.
Something was wrong. Everything was wrong. The house, behind her, was almost completely destroyed. The city, the road, the buildings, everything was destroyed. Amelia ran into the house.
“Mum! Dad!” she called.
No one replied.
She entered all the rooms, looked everywhere, but she couldn't find them. 'Stay calm' she thought, trying not to cry.
Amelia grabbed a backpack and her notebook, and she left the house to try to find someone. Anyone. Even if it was her worst enemy.

In a Friday afternoon, two friends were chatting in the park.
“Iris, there's a solar eclipse tomorrow! I'm so excited” Amelia told her friend.
“Really? Wow! That's awesome, Lia!” Iris said
“Do you want to come to my house? I have a telescope with a solar filter so we'll be able to see it safely”
“Sure! I'd love to”

Amelia entered her friend's house. But nobody was inside. Everything was silent.
She sat on a rock and started to cry. She let her tears fall and wet the floor. Then, she fell asleep.
Character in a dangerous scenario ♦ 223/200 words
Amelia woke up. Everything was still silent. There were no birds, no animals. Suddenly, she heard a buzzing sound that came from above her. She looked up, hoping she would see an insect, but she saw something in the sky. It looked like a submarine, but not a yellow submarine, it was like the Aronnax submarine. It was big, metallic and it seemed imposing. And it was flying.
Amelia took a step back, but the flying submarine went towards her. It landed nearby and a man jumped off.
“You!” he yelled. “Come here!”
Amelia wasn't sure about what to do. He was the only human she had seen since the eclipse, but what if he was evil?
The man, who wasn't in a good mood, stared at her and took a kn1fe out of his pocked. Amelia started to run away from him but some bots that were in the flying submarine started to chase her. The girl got into the forest, hoping that it would distract the bots, but there was a big root and she tripped. The bots entered the forest and grabbed her arms. The man, who had also entered, took an object that was similar to a remote control and pressed a button. The robots carried the girl into the flying ship and locked her up in a room.
Character learning something unexpected ♦ 189/100 words whoops
Amelia woke up. She was in a clean room, in a comfortable bed. She thought she was at home, the day of the eclipse, and she had a very long and realistic dream, but then she remembered everything. She opened her eyes and tried to stand up but she felt very dizzy.
“Oh, you're awake!” A tall woman opened the door and entered the room. “You need to rest” she told Amelia.
“Where am I?” Amelia asked her.
“You're in the Curvix. Remember the flying ship that looked like a submarine? You're inside.” the woman told her.
“What?? Why am I here? Why did you…”
“Please relax. Sam is too rude sometimes. And you're here because you're one of the few humans that are left. Everyone disappeared during the eclipse.”
“But why? What happened?”
“Dark magic.”
“Magic? But…”
“Yes, it does exist. ”
Amelia closed her eyes. It was too much information.
“Now sleep.” the woman said. “Oh, I forgot to say my name. I'm Clara, nice to meet you… Amelia.”
The girl didn't realise that Clara knew her name even when she hadn't told her. She fell asleep.
Everyday object takes on magical properties ♦ 180/150 words
“Lia… I have something for you”
“What?”
Amelia's mother gave her a necklace with a blue gemstone.
“Keep it safe. Please.”

Clara entered the room with a toast and some water.
“Good morning! You must be very hungry” Clara smiles, giving Amelia, who was awake, the food. The girl, feeling as if she hadn't eaten for weeks, bit the toast. It was very yummy.
When she finished eating, her necklace began to glow. Amelia looked at Clara, but the woman also seemed very surprised.
“What's happening?” Amelia asked, even though she knew that Clara didn't have an answer.
“Your necklace… It's reacting to something. I'm not sure what it is. It seems… magical. It has some sort of power. Where did you get it from?” Clara asked.
“My mom gave it to me.” Amelia replied. Suddenly, she had an idea. “Wait, you said that all the humans disappeared. They might have appeared somewhere. They must have appeared somewhere, right? Nobody can make everyone just… disappear. Like… matter doesn't just disappear.”
“I don't know, Amelia, I don't know… It's possible.”
Possible.
Character receiving messages from an unknown person ♦ 150/150 words :O
Amelia woke up. According to the clock, it was 3:49 am. Everything was dark, except… Her necklace was glowing for an unknown reason. But it wasn't unknown anymore.
She could see some words written on the wall. Words made of light that came from the gemstone.
Lia.
You're in danger.
The Curvix isn't safe.
You can trust Clara.
But never, never trust Sam.

The girl heard some footsteps. She hid under the blanket to hide the glowing necklace. But never trust Sam, she remembered. She wondered wether she should trust the sender. If they could control her necklace, it must be a person who was, close to her. Is, she corrected herself. It might be her friend, or one of her parents, probably.
The footsteps faded. Amelia took the gemstone out of the blanket and looked around. The words were still there, glowing. After a while, she fell asleep again.

“Good morning, Amelia” Clara entered the room. Amelia heard a song that someone that was out of her room was listening.
Seven boys and girls and a teacher were in a big room. Amelia was sitting in front of a piano. She recognized the place, it was the music class she was in.
“Let's play it again!” the teacher said, and everyone started playing a song together. It was the same song, the one someone out of her room was listening.

“Are you alright?” Clara asked, worried.
“Yes… I just remembered something. I played this song in my music class.” she replies.
“Oh. It's a nice song, don't you think? Sam loves it.”
But never, never trust Sam.
“Well, do you want to eat breakfast? We're going to chat a little bit later. We have something to tell you.” Clara tells the girl.
“Yes, please, I'm hungry!”
They both started to laugh.

“Hello, Amelia. Can I call you Lia?” A man asked. It was Sam.
“Umm… Yes” Amelia replied. She had a strange feeling. Only her family and her best friend used to call her Lia. And now, the person she wasn't supposed to trust was going to use that nickname.
“Alright. Lia. How are you?” Sam asked.
Amelia expected anything but this. How are you? A generic question. A question someone who cares would ask. But also a question someone who doesn't care would ask to hide their real intentions, right?
“I'm fine.” she replied. “You're Sam, right?” she asked.
“Yes, my name is Sam. Clara has told you, right?”
“Yes.”
There was an awkward silence before Sam decided to tell her what he wanted to.
“Do you know where we are going?” he asked.
“No, I don't. Why has nobody told me yet? I should know.”
“Well, we're going to Etheria. The only city that's still here. All the other cities have been destroyed.” Sam explained. “And you, Lia, will help us do what we want to do.”
“But what do you want me to do?”
“Enter the Moon database. Hack it. Find out who has destroyed the Earth. And defeat him.”
Character completely changing appearance ♦ 219/200 words
After asking a lot of questions, Amelia was still unsure of wether she would be able to do what Sam wanted her to do. But never, never trust Sam… Did she have another choice? It was the only thing she could do to find her family and friends. 'I might be able to travel back in time… or make the entire planet travel back in time.' she thought, trying to be positive.
Clara had given her new clothes that had camouflage technology and many other useful tools and tech, and she even cut her hair. Everything was new, or at least it seemed new. Nothing was broken or dirty. She also took a shower and ate lunch.
“You're ready now.” Clara told her, checking for the thousand-th time that the camouflage technology worked properly.
Amelia was feeling very nervous, even though she was trying to be confident. 'All the technology must be useful' she thought.
The girl jumped off the Curvix and saw the city. It was really big and full of people, but the atmosphere was sad. They were the only survivors on the Earth. The only people that were still there. It was incredible.
“Hey, Lia.” she heard Sam calling her. “Come here.” pause “She is Sarah and she will help you. She is an experimented hacker.”

Sarah was a girl with tan skin and brown wavy hair. “Hello!” she greeted Amelia
“Hello. I'm Amelia, you can call me Lia.”
“What a beautiful name.”
The girls entered the city, chatting and almost forgetting about the past. Almost.

“This technology is awesome. So awesome. But… where did it come from? This didn't exist before the eclipse. I have never heard of such a good camouflage suit.” Amelia said.
“Yeah, it's strange. Look, that's the Moon Headquarters.” It was a very big building with only a few windows. It seemed very modern.
“Wow. We should try the camouflage before entering, shouldn't we? Aaaah-” being almost invisible was very, very strange. She couldn't even see her own body.
“This is amazing!”
“Yes, but how do I become visible again?!”
“Try to find the belt.”
“It's very difficult when you don't see your own body!”
“Please stay calm. Try to touch your clothes.”
“Okay…” Amelia became visible again. “I agree with you, this is amazing!”

“The Moon Headquarters. I guess it'll be easy, it's the biggest building in the city.” Sarah commented.
But it wasn't easy. Etheria was an enormous city and it was full of people that were going from one place to another one.
“Lia, come here! I think I've found the way to get to the Moon Headquarters”
But it wasn't the correct way.
They were wandering for a while until they found the building.
“Here! I can see the door. But there's a guard and the door is closed. He will see us opening the door, even if we use the camouflage.” Amelia says, upset.
“Oh, no! Try to distract him while I get in, ok?”
“Ok.” Amelia replies before disappearing.
The girl started to throw rocks. The guard started to look around, nervously.
“What's happening?” he muttered, not realizing that he wasn't the only person with camouflage technology. He started to walk and picked up one of the rocks. Sarah sneaked in the headquarters building and closed the door.
Character overestimating their abilities ♦ 203/200 words
'I can do it' Amelia thought. She was going to get into the building through the window. It was hight and far from where she was, but she decided to do it. What if Sarah was in danger? She didn't want to leave her alone. So she started to climb the wall.
After a while, she wasn't there yet, and her arms were starting to hurt. She was nearly reaching the window when a hand grabbed her ankle and made her fall. It was the guard.
“Who are you? What are you doing here? Why were you trying to climb the wall?” he asked.
Amelia's mind was trying to plan something. Maybe hit the guard and escape? Or lie and try to convince him? She wasn't sure.
“Hey! Speak!”
“I…”
Amelia started to run away from the guard as fast as she could. She ran, hoping that the crowd would slow down the guard. She ran hoping that he would lose her. She got lost but was still running until she ran into Sam.
“Lia! What happened? Are you ok? Where is Sarah?”
“In the headquarters. The guard caught me and I had to escape.”
“Oh, I see… Well, let's hope she succeeeds”

“Wait, Sam! How… They saw me! I had the camouflage on! You can also see me, I don't remember turning it off.” Amelia said.
“What?! That's impossible.”
“It's possible. And this means that Sarah is in danger! I have to get in again!” she yelled, and she tried to run, but Sam grabbed her arm.
“Hey, don't!”
“Why?”
“Because…”
“You don't have a reason! She's not important, right? You manipulated us!”
“Wait, Lia…”
“No, I can't wait! It might be too late!” she freed herself and began running.
“Lia!” Sam yelled, but she didn't hear him.
But never, never trust Sam. she remembered. ‘They knew it’ she thought.

When Lia found the building, she activated the camouflage system, hoping that it would work at least for a while, but it didn't work. So she went to the back part of the headquarters and tried to climb again. This time, the guard didn't see her because he was in front of the front door. Amelia got inside the building and ran until she bumped into someone and fell.
“Ow!”
“Lia?”
“Sarah!”
“Are you alrignt?”
“Umm, yes… I'm sorry, I was going too fast.”
“It's not your fault.”
“Well, do you know how to get in this room? It might be the one we're looking for.”
“Yes it is.” Sarah replied and took a key out of her pocket. “I managed to steal this.” She opened the door.
Character struggling to let something go ♦ 228/200 words
The girls entered the room. It was full of machines and gadgets. In the center, there was a big computer on a bigger table. They could hear bleeps and zzuums.
“Wow” Amelia muttered.
Sarah looked at the computer. She plugged in an USB device and typed something. Suddenly, everything began to shake, as happened during the eclipse. Both girls fell on the floor.
“Oh, no!!” Amelia yells as the building started to shake violently.
“I'm stuck! I can't get out of here! Leave!” Sarah told her.
“No, I can't leave you here!”
“Do it!” Sarah pushed Amelia thought the window.
Amelia fell off the building and she screamed. The building fell.

“Lia, wake up!”
“Clara?”
“You're awake! How are you?”
“My head hurts a lot but… Where is Sarah?! The building fell and I…” she began to cry.
“Lia, relax. She is here.”
“But how?”
“Teleportation.”
Oh, of course. She had forgotten about the technology.
“And my parents? My family and friends? All the people in my city? Did they appear? Is everyone fine?” Amelia asked
“So many questions, but yes. You succeeded.”
The girl smiled.
“Lia! We're so proud of you!” her parents entered the room.
“But why didn't I disappear, like you?”
“Because of the necklace. It's special. And by the way, I sent you that message.”
“Oh. Thank you.”
And they all hugged each other.

Thank you note for Skylar
Hello Skylar! You're an amazing person and we have a lot in common. You might be confused about why I'm writing you a thank you note - I didn't camp in your cabin and we didn't interact a lot - but the truth is that this isn't a SWC thank you note. I'm not writing this because of enjoying interactions with you during SWC (please don't misinterpret this, I did enjoy interacting with you), it's something different.
I want to thank you for introducing me to this awesome community. Believe it or not, I discovered SWC by clicking on your profile picture after finding your SXC host thread. And I think it's one of the best things I have ever done on Scratch. Seriously, this session has been amazing.
I want to thank you for guiding me, for answering my questions, for being so kind when I was new to camps and I had no idea, when I didn't know what to do.
I want to thank you for accepting my SXC leader application, for letting me collaborate with such an awesome group, for letting me do what you have done for me.
Thank you.
Lyra <3
