daily 1: march 1st - 1055 words ༉‧₊ (however the extra word doesn’t count as this was edited months after the session ended)

Hey! I’m Elly, she/her and this is my second writing camp session! I’m in the Dystopian cabin.
I’m never good at writing about me’s, I usually just digress and ramble about anything, so I’m going to try my hardest to actually write one! But that will most likely not go well. (Elly isn’t my real name, by the way. I thought it would be fairly unique but I’ve met at least 5 Ellys on Scratch lol)

Since I’ve just been doing some writing, my hand has quite a lot of ink on it. I’m left handed so whenever I write the ink just goes all down the side of my hand. I have a special fountain pen that I’ve used for the past 6 years, so I’m glad I haven’t lost it yet (let’s hope that I haven’t jinxed it.) Speaking about Jinx, I’m currently watching Arcane (I love it so far!). I’m about halfway through season one, so please don’t give any spoilers.

Ah, yes! I am sort of infamous with my friends for giving spoilers. I’m a massive bookworm, so whenever my friend is reading a book I’ve read, I just sit there smiling knowingly because it would be so easy for me to tell them that the main character is going to die or something. My favourite genres are dystopian and mystery and I do like to read light-hearted romance from time to time, as well as comics and graphic novels. I’m currently making slow progress through School Bus Graveyard which is great. I also like Greek Mythology quite a lot and I have read all of PJO, HOO, TOA, MC, KC + TSATS and some side books! Smiles proudly ^^ I love reading, though I’ve been in a small slump lately. If you’ve read The Maze Runner: beware, I’m a Thomas and Teresa shipper.

Some other series I like are The Hunger Games, Keeper of the Lost Cities and The Inheritance Games. I’m excited for The Sunrise on the Reaping!

As for my comfort author? I have a fondness for Noel Streatfeild books, they’re quite old but I adore them so so much.

I’d really like to write a mystery someday.

I also like musicals! My Big Three would be Six, Hamilton and hm, Wicked. I love dropping references to Hamilton whenever I can in real life conversations. =]

I’m also a swiftie, as you can tell, like the Taylor Swift themed username + current pfp isn’t enough. I love all of the albums but I’m currently in my folklore/evermore era. I am also a fan of Olivia Rodrigo, Maisie Peters, Taylor Bickett, Chappell Roan, McKenna Grace and Gracie Abrams. Some bands I like are Self Deception, Train and Imagine Dragons! I also like Melanie Martinez but I haven’t listened to her music in ages (by the way, I do not support what she was alleged to do). There’s more music artists that I like, but I won’t list them all because frankly I can’t remember them all off the top of my head. I don’t only listen to basic stuff but I mainly do.

Oh wait- I am a growing carpenter! (Weirdly enough, I’ve listened to Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter before they became famous but only started liking them after.. is that bad?)

Taylor Swift has always been, and always will be, my comfort singer.

On the topic of music, I like to play the piano! I’ve gotten to the point where I can sight read immediately with my right hand (and my left hand if it’s easy enough - otherwise I just play chords).

One thing about me is that I start series and never finish them, I have at least 15 shows I need to finish right now - not including Arcane. :’)

It’s been around 600 words so far, I can’t think about anything, hm…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned scrapbooking yet so, I really like scrapbooking. I’m trying to get into art. I used to like writing a lot but it’s gotten harder for me lately though I still like doing it, hence the dryness in this sentence acknowledging the fact I am literally writing this for a writing camp.

Oh, and I used to be in a grass-eating club.
No wait, wait, what, I’m willing to wait for it!! Sorry, that went off track, but I just realised instead of saying the randomest things ever, I could talk about games I play. I don’t really play games much anymore but I used to play Dandy’s World, I’m working towards getting the toon Finn right now. (“Right now” I say, as if I haven’t played it in three months.)

I also play a bit of Minecraft, but I’m not necessarily good at it.

My favourite board game is Monopoly. I also know some traditional card games.

I used to griffpatch, I GWDFI now, though! It’s an awesome friendly community so if you’re a GWDFIer reading this, thank you! Another community I’m in is, well, I don’t know if there’s a specific name, but there is this aesthetic swiftie community which is also great, thank you so much <3

Something that I find interesting is reality, but that’s quite deep so I won’t go into depth about it lol. I find history and science fascinating as well!
I usually don’t write this formally, so it’s a bit weird for me lol but no I will not be rewriting this to be less uptight just because I used proper punctuation for once XD

Here are some facts about me academically: I speak English and a bit of French and German. I’ve done a bit of Klingon on Duolingo for jokes and I have learnt quite a bit of music theory. I’m not particularly strong at subjects academically right now but I’m improving! I don’t hate sports but I don’t adore it, either. Something that I have always wanted to do is learn British Sign Language (I live in Britain).

That’s going to be it. Thank you for reading!
Naturally, I have probably forgotten about everything interesting about me and wrote the most out of context things, but I hope you didn’t get too bored.

Part Two: I think it would be a cottagecore-ish castle.

Help, I’ve just realised I’m the first post on both the 3rd and 4th page X-X

⋆ “daily” march 1st: one k word intro
forget august, february flew by like… i don’t know, a train? a really fast bird? that was probably the quickest month i’ve felt in a long time (even if it’s missing a handful of days, my point stands), but that’s not too awful of a thing - it’s swc month! hooray! among some more things i’m excited for; cough, springtime :)
so anyways, this document here marks the very beginning of my lucky 13th session!!! i’ve been looking forward to this number for a while now, and it also means that my very first session i joined exactly 4 years ago in march 2022. do you know how much happens in four years? an extra day gets added to the calendar, the earth has gone around our sun four times, i’m no longer 11 (shocking), and i’ve made it through my entire torment of a middle school career. i still really like it here, if you couldn’t tell.
“that’s a lot of sessions! surely you’ve written enough thousand word intros to be bored of them by now?” nope. this one’s my second. i’ve never liked talking about myself for a prolonged period of time, but here goes <3

hi guys! i’m veni, or juli if you like the sound of that one more, and my pronouns are up to you (she/any). i am currently a freshman in highschool, and i reside along the lovely eastern shoreboard. although that could be up for debate, because the weather here is jumpy as a bunny and it’s supposed to drop thirty degrees tomorrow :P
i’m a camper in illu-fi this session! that message made my day to be honest and i’m so excited it looks so cool - fun fact (who am i kidding everything in this is a fun fact of some kind) this is my second-ever repeat cabin and my last time being in illu-fi was as a leader in november of. 2023? as an artist i love the genre so much haha i think it’s fun to combine words and silly doodles!! and i’m also looking forward to being a camper again, planning a cabin is lots of fun and a meaningful experience obviously but i’ve been liking taking it more chill and focusing on writing and community. plus as much as i enjoy it (co)leading again and again and again gets little overwhelming :,) you’re probably tired about hearing of swc so much, and i’ve been stalling sooo moving on
me, as a person. yay! i’m a certified hobby hoarder and my collection is still ever growing. many of them all trace back to art in some way - visually, musically, you name it and i’ve probably tried it. here’s the list!
- writing, which is first only because i am actively doing it right now. and, sorry to be so repetitive but… swc :) i like telling stories, and i like spilling the voice in my mind out onto paper, or an empty page on my computer, or a random sticky note. it’s relaxing (sometimes) and i like that there’s infinite possibilities with it - there will never be a lack of stories to tell. i thank this community for getting me into writing, my younger self would have not
- reading, although i don’t complete as many books as i would prefer nowadays. i grew up on series like harry potter and percy jackson, and reading has made big impacts on who i am, how i view myself, and how i interact with the world. also you can just escape into some world in your mind and that’s literally so cool?? yeah one of my main goals this year is to read more, especially since i have an endless tbr. my most recent finish was the book thief, and it was so good. someone come yap with me about it teehee
- art!!! i love art. so much. i think my scratch profile proves that. i’ve been drawing for like forever, quite possibly since i’ve picked up a pencil and i can always depend on this as an outlet from reality. i do both digital; which is mostly what i show online, and traditional; where i like to experiment with a bunch of different mediums. pencil is my go-to, crayons are cool, as is marker, and when i’m painting i usually go with acrylic because the other ones scare me a little. oh and also i’ve just finished a sketchbook for the first time yesterday!!
- music! i am both a musician and a listener. i play piano and violin, both long-time hobbies of mine starting way back in elementary school. right now i’m in my school’s orchestra where i met some of my closest friends <3 and the other aspect of music! i would listen to spotify every hour if i could. some genres i like are rock, indie, and folk, but really it’s just a bit of everything.

i also crochet, collect stuff, enjoy fashion, dance, and recently started to ice skate and knit (both of which i suck at). but hey i’m having fun with life and i’m still looking to expand my interests :) what’s life if you don’t go out there and do something?

why am i at the 850 mark and the only thing i’ve talked about is hobbies. umm i really like nature and right now i’m really craving a nice field to go frolic in and make flower crowns! earlier i mentioned looking forward to spring, so yeah i just can’t wait to go outside and look at leaves and bugs and watch the birds!! plants are really cool and every time i go outside i come back in with a handful of them to press in a book, and then i either forget about them or they get promoted to a page in my sketchbook. winter is nice and all and we actually got snow this year so that’s a huge plus, but it’s been so long since the trees weren’t bald. i also like animals and i have one dog, who is my light and joy every single day. love you teddy :D

I HIT ONE THOUSAND WORDS ok speedrun time because organisation is a social construct. i like arcane special shoutout for swc again for getting me into that, i like another show too i just haven’t watched it yet (i mentioned my tbr somewhere i also have an endless watchlist), my favorite colors are grapevine palette (greens!!, purple, and i like that maroon red shade), the sky is blue, i can’t choose a favorite animal right now but that shoutout list is frogs, ducks, geese, red pandas, and sharks. moths butterflies and dragonflies are really cool but i don’t like the other bugs sorry guys :( i like collecting rocks and seashells! there’s currently a jar here on my desk.
well, there’s that, and that’s me. this is laughably rapid-fire and an explosive thing to start the session with, thank you for reading!!

Daily 1 (1/3/25)

Hi everyone! I’m Beatrix (call me Bea if you want) and this is my fourth or fifth session of SWC; the uncertainty of this does make me question my loyalty a little — but this month is going to be good, I can feel it! (Uh, but don’t quote me on that…)
I’m in Illu-Fi this session and I’m really excited! I’ve been reading and writing for most of my life; I can’t really remember a time I didn’t read — all the way from The Very Hungry Caterpillar to Fahrenheit 451. Still two of my favourite books though…
In terms of writing I have an imprudent obsession with semicolons, parentheses and multi-clause sentences (if you couldn’t tell already) but I hope figurative langage can balance it out…And either way my writing style often adapts to the book I’m currently reading (which is now a collection of Russian short stories).
I’m an INFJ-T (I’ve never met another INFJ in person, maybe we really are rare — I seem to be surrounded by ENFPs and INTJs) and am from Britain — more specifically, Wales (or Cymru, as any patriot would correct me). In fact, today is not only the beginning of SWC, but St. David’s day! You’ll know if you’ve seen the Google doodle today — it celebrates the passing of, guess who, Saint David, patron saint of Wales. On a grocery walk this morning, I saw no less than four people in Welsh rugby shirts, but of course the real tradition is the true Welsh traditional costume.
Don’t ask me why I’m not wearing one. No, really, don’t.
Oh, fine, it’s super uncomfortable.
But still very pretty! Hopefully daffodils and Welsh cakes (which are apparently actually a type of flatbread) will motivate me to write today.

I would say my biggest hobby is indeed writing (as well as reading) but I also love drawing and various other forms of art, knitting (I cannot wrap my head around crochet) and playing the piano! Well, I say I love it. It doesn’t mean I practice consistently. One thing I’m grateful to the instrument for, though, is the introduction to classical music.
My favourite composer (if you couldn’t tell) is Shostakovich: he doesn’t have a single boring or unattractive piece and he was such an interesting figure!
One of my favourite quotes is about him:

” He was a great man in a badly gilded cage. Could he have loved his cage? Of course not. He hated it, and broke his teeth and fingernails on its bars. But the roaring of this big hunted beast inside his cage was worth more, much more, than the carefree twittering of many so-called free birds. Why didn’t he emigrate? Because a monument cannot emigrate. And if he had emigrated, not only the members of his family, but all of Russian music would have been taken hostage.”

This was said by Yevgeny Yevtushenko, whose poem Babi Yar was set to music by Shostakovich (Symphony No.13). It really inspired me to learn more about Russian history, which I soon found to be fascinating— but then I find nearly all history fascinating.
Other composers I like are J.S. Bach, Chopin and Tchaikovsky. Although really my main focus of music isn’t classical — in fact, while this may sound contradictory I do have a love for rock. I love Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Royal Blood and the Smiths, as well as many other artists who I do not have the patience to name. (Do it, it’ll add to your word count. Or can you just not recall them?)
I did have a brief K-Pop phase, in which I had a remarkable obsession with Stray Kids, but unfortunately that’s passed by now (I still absentmindedly hum their older songs to myself though).
I also find myself still listening to the soundtrack of Wonka. I know it’s been well over a year, but how can I help myself when it had nearly all my favourite actors? Of course Chalamet was amazing, Atkinson a great cameo, Hawkins nostalgic — but let’s be real, I loved it for Mat Baynton and Simon Farnaby.
Fine. I confess.
I am a Horrible Histories kid.
(Pre-reboot, of course)
That’s probably why history is still my favourite subject to date, and I sing the songs around the house every day: mostly D Turpin (highwayman), the Monarchs song (please someone sing it with me) and Henry VIII.
Nobody who knows me will want to ever hear about this again — but I am extremely enthusiastic about the British Suffragette Movement. Out of all the topics there are in history, the suffragettes — that’s my topic. I could talk about it for hours.
(Please ask me to talk about the suffragettes for hours)
Other subjects I love are art, English (of course; though not grammar, I admit), maths when I’m in a good mood and French — I love languages.
As for sciences — well, my opinions toward them fluctuate often. My ranking of the three would be #1: Physics #2 Chemistry #3 Biology. But then it really depends on my mood.
I’m not a HUGE fan of sports, especially in school, but I do enjoy some, like cycling and rowing (I have not been in a single boat in three months, only doubles, but- oh well-)

In terms of books I really cannot choose a favourite. I’ll say my top three trilogies: His Dark Materials (Phillip Pullman), Inkheart (Cornelia Funke) and Chaos Walking (Patrick Ness) — in no particular order, ALTHOUGH Chaos Walking is undoubtedly one of the best books I have ever read and Patrick Ness a genius. I’m not even a huge fan of the genre, but I would recommend it to anyone at all (just prepare to cry…like, a lot). The writing is amazing and it has so many great messages as well as extremely complex characters.
I do miss my Harry Potter days somewhat, but that obsession’s blown over — my current main book fandom is Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo), which is also amazing — the worldbuilding and character designs begin to make me insecure about my own writing. One book series I’ll never grow out of is A Series of Unfortunate Events (Lemony Snicket). I owe a huge chunk of my vocabulary to it and every time I read it I find new details that add so much to the already intricate plot. The Netflix series is definitely (one of) my favourite(s) and is probably the best book-to-screen adaptation I’ve ever seen.
I also LOVE the Lockwood & Co. series (Johnathan Stroud), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Mark Haddon), How To Stop Time (Matt Haig — seriously, just read it) and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams).

I think that my writing is really just a combination of all the authors I’ve ever loved, from Julia Donaldson to Roger Hargreaves to Enid Blyton to Roald Dahl to Katherine Rundell to Anthony Horowitz to Trenton Lee Stewart to Lemony Snicket to Oscar Wilde to Patrick Ness to-
Yeah, you get the idea.

Well, to summarise, I’m super happy to be back at SWC and scratch as a whole and I’m really excited to get to know everyone! That was the first time I’ve ever done a 1K intro, so hopefully that’s a strong start from me.
So, thanks for enduring my rambling! I’ll see you around — please feel free to talk to me anytime

Daily 1: Intro (exactly 1000 words)
Hi guys—it’s Prisha (she/her), and it’s time for the first daily! Just a warning, this will be a GINORMOUS yap session and I don’t expect anyone to actually be reading this. Let’s start with my hobbies.

My favorite things to do include playing the violin (I’m in three orchestras!), writing (obviously), reading/squealing over adorable ships, and touching grass (which only happens once a year, but it’s still fun). I’m also a professional certified brownie-eater, so GIVE ME YOUR BROWNIES! Another thing I… kind of enjoy doing is biting off WAY MORE than I can chew, because I’m just good like that. For example, the day before yesterday and yesterday (excuse the terrible sentence structure—I’m in yapping mode) I was at an orchestra rehearsal from five-thirty to nine pm, and today I was at an orchestra rehearsal from nine to eleven am (wow, I just realized eleven has one L). Tomorrow, I have…you guessed it—more orchestra.

How did this happen? Well, at the start of the year I had a private violin teacher. He was strict and although he didn’t say it to my face, he could always tell when I didn’t practice (which was to say—always). He ran out of stuff to teach me and said I should join an orchestra outside of school. That’s what I did.

The thing is, this orchestra was on A SATURDAY. And as a professional lazy bigback, that was a lot to ask of me. Like, who even does that? I have a LIFE, ya know? But I continued with it because we had to pay an admission fee and I was not going to let that go to waste. Even though it was WAY below my level.

However, my school orchestra was amazing—the teacher knew how to motivate us and pace us so that we weren’t burnt out. Everyone had a lot of energy and I made a few new friends. But then… there was ANOTHER ORCHESTRA! Our teacher said we should try to audition because it only lasted a month, so that’s what I did.

Oh. My. God. THE MUSIC WAS SO HARD! By now, I had gotten rid of my private teacher because everything was too easy, but this made me reconsider. The music had SIXTEENTH notes—my worst enemy!

This is also why my writing kind of sucks—I got less sleep than I was supposed with all these orchestra rehearsals. HELP ME.

Wow. How did this go from an About Me to a rant? Let’s get back on track.

So… reading. I LOVE books—everyone in my class knows that—especially ones with Greek mythology in them (cough cough Percy Jackson). I don’t know how the obsession started, but I’m not complaining, because our class is doing a Greek Mythology unit right now and I’ve gone nerd-mode. One book I love is “The Sun is Also a Star”, because the chemistry was so beautiful and the themes were relatable to me. There are some parts that are unhinged and a little inappropriate, but that just made it BETTER! I love my unhinged books (cough cough Percy Jackson).
Bro. We’re only at around five hundred words? We can’t have that, can we? ON WE GO!

ANYWAYS, to touch grass more, I’ve decided to bring the grass inside. Nope, that didn’t sound as cool as I thought it would. By bringing the grass inside, I mean planting… plants…in my room. I managed to convince my mom, so I now have two small pots in my room (like, really small). AIR!

Speaking of plants, I’ve always wanted an herb garden. Do you guys have any recommendations for what herbs I should plant? I have a friend with an herb garden and I went over to her house. IT WAS SO COOL! But it’s not as if I’d actually use the herbs, because in my culture we just use spices. It would still be cool, though.

I also have a sticker collection, because I’m just dumb like that. You’ll be shocked how many places give out free stickers. Sometimes I’ve even goaded my parents into buying me stickers from places we go, like in Hawaii. I don’t know what I’ll do with these stickers, but it’s just fun to collect them—like memories.

Another thing I’ve started to get into is poetry and musicals. At the start of the year, I hated both, but now I’m warming up to them. I haven’t actually seen a musical, but I’ve heard “Epic the Musical”, if that counts. As for poetry, the main reason why I hated it was because I thought it had no character growth or internal conflict. I had assumed this because the poems our English teachers showed us were just descriptive and kind of boring, but eventually I learned to write poetry my own way.

Speaking of which, let’s talk about my love-hate relationship with English (the subject, not the language). First of all, WHAT SORT OF DUMB NAME IS THAT? We aren’t in English to learn English—we’re here to learn that language arts. JUST CALL IT ELA PLEASE. For the sake of my sanity. Second, I hate the way English is taught at my school. They strip the creativity from the writing and bore us to death instead of letting us have a say in what we write about. English is art, not math. However, I love creative writing (like, a lot).

Hmm… What else should I yap about? *thinks*. Uh-oh, my mom’s calling me downstairs. NO I NEED TO FINISH THIS IN ONE SITTING OR I’LL FORGET! *sobbing noises*. Almost there, too, at around nine hundred thirty words (spelling out the numbers for the sake of word count—evil grin).

Okay guys, I’m back with something new to yap about: food! I had lunch and… A MILKY WAY! I’m a huge fan of anything with caramel in it except for salted caramel—that is literally a crime to humanity. The ENTIRE point of caramel is to be sweet.

That’s it for now—hope you enjoyed it!

Daily 3: Portmanteaus (371 words)
Picture this: all you could ever want at a beach paradise, complete with palm trees, a relaxing ocean background, seagulls, and… black ugly speakers. Ugly speakers definitely don’t set the mood in a good way, so why tolerate it? Introducing the speanapple (speaker + pineapple)—the perfect hidden speaker, featuring a fake pineapple that looks like something from “Is it Cake?”. Now, you can set the mood for your romantic honeymoon without spoiling the romantic feeling, or just chill with your friends while vibing out to the latest pop hit (they’ll never know you were the one who picked the 2015 songs).

Buy it cheap, starting at the cost of your soul (free soul extractions from one’s body at our speanapple store—why be happy if you can be dead inside?). Why go to the Apple store if you can go to Speanapple? Our store has the perfect beach merged with Spongebob aesthetic, and a free Spongebob plushie that comes with our product. Now, you can have an actual Spongebob that lives in a pineapple! Or, buy a Spongebob bodysuit to really get into the beach vibe (at the cheap cost of all your toes). Buy a matching set that you probably can’t afford for your family, because Spongebob over food, water, shelter, and basic human needs!

Tired of feeling alive? Become dead inside with our soul extractor harpoon! It comes with a suction cup (attach it to your mouth and feel the magic!) and tastes like dirt. Speaking of dirt, we also have dirt-flavored ice cream, because who doesn’t love touching grass? Touch grass without going outside by eating this— guaranteed to make you green!

Disclaimer: None of these products are FDA approved— please check with your local gravedigger for potential safety hazards (chances of dying are ninety nine percent with a chance of extreme brownie cravings). Our Spongebob contains vegetables (GASP!), so please advise your kids to stay away, just in case they’re allergic to vegetables like they claim to be. Guaranteed to make you EXTRA green!

This is why you never read the fine print, kids! Make sure to buy the speakapple before it gets sold out (or banned by health authorities) and have a happy life being dead inside!

Daily 5: Constellations (496 words)
There’s one constellation that has stood out to me for many years— by sheer chance. Aquila. I remember when I was little (I still am little, but that’s not the point) I would read the dictionary like an absolute nerd, searching for new words or names to incorporate into my stories. Aquila was one of them, and I liked the way it sounded on my tongue, like a river. I think Aquila was, like, a gryphon in my story or something? I don’t remember—it’s been a while.

Anyways, supposedly Aquila was the eagle of Zeus, and up until now I didn’t even know Zeus had an eagle (and I’m a huge Greek mythology addict). Aquila kind of reminds me of Garuda (the “a” is pronounced like “uh”) in Hindu mythology, but I don’t know much about who Garuda served. Probably a sky god. It’s so strange how similar cultures can be, even though they’re from different parts of the world.

Aquila seemed like such a fluid name— so interesting and beautiful to say. Apparently the aquila is also some type of eagle, which definitely isn’t a coincidence. I looked up how the constellation looks because I have no interest in stars whatsoever, and I can definitely see the eagle. However, the constellation also kind of looks like… a crossbow? I don’t know, it might just be me.

Supposedly an aquilifer (is that how you spell it?) was an “eagle-bearer” in old times, kind of reminding me of the Son of Neptune. However, I got ninety percent of my Greek mythology knowledge from Percy Jackson and the Olympians (spelling out the full name to get more words— hehe) and nine percent from Epic the Musical. The remaining one percent I learned from my English class (why are we even studying Greek mythology?).

Also, apparently there was also an Aquila in the Bible, but since I’m not Christian I don’t know most of the stuff. She was in the New Testament or something, whatever that is.

AHA! I knew the aquilifer tradition was Roman! Aquila has Latin origins and was derived from “aquilus”, which means eagle. In Roman culture, eagles were a symbol of power, status, and bravery. Maybe that’s why they were on so many coats-of-arms, likely evolving from Roman culture. Now that I think about it, where did knights originate from? France? Gaul? Spain? Oh my god. Knights actually originated from Greece and Rome’s (insert hard to pronounce word here). Another reason why I love Greek and Roman mythology.

Alas, how did we get so off track? We can’t have that, can we? Well, I’m not much of a stargazer, so I don’t know anything else about Aquila. I learned most of this from a quick Google search, which is… kind of sad. I definitely need to go back through my terrible little-me writing and find out who Aquila was in my stories, because I remember she was a pretty important character. Curse this horrible memory!

Daily 8: Women's Day (306 words)
Dear little sister,
Thank you. For every little thing you’ve done for me that I didn’t have to do when I was your age, like sleeping to the sound of screechy violin in the background, or having to share TV time with me. I know you technically aren’t a “woman” yet, but you’re a girl, so I guess that counts? Thank you for being so annoying and stopping me from dying of boredom over breaks and letting me know that I’m never alone. Thank you for being that person to talk to in the morning about the most silly stuff, like an orchestra group turning into a choir or a poop monster. Thank you for being (relatively) easy to handle— well, easier to handle than your friends. Thank you for honing me into someone more mature and ready to take care of people.
Thank you for indulging me during my strange projects, even if no one else is interested (like the solar oven or the printing press). Thank you for being interested in the most boring things and keeping me awake. I admire you for always being able to get what you want (even if it makes you a little spoiled— haha, just kidding… or am I?). Thank you for being worth writing for, for being someone I can make a guide to middle school for. Thank you for being someone who I can make better than I was.
I know I’m not great with letters and sappy things, and I also know that you’ll probably never read this, but thank you so much. I know the formatting is just a wonky ginormous list, but I appreciate whoever went through the trouble of reading this. Just writing this letter made me feel so much better— so thank you, little sister for that.
From, Your Older Sister

Part 1: Language and Culture of World (385/350 words)

In my world, there are two main cultures with sub-cultures within each other: Verithacan and Emerian (also called Tallenian). They are like light and shadow, and both sides are at war against each other. Verithaca represents “light”, but it is later revealed that they are the bad side. Both cultures worship the same gods, but Verithaca is centered around Abel, god of light, fate, prophecy, and king of the gods. In Verithacan culture, he is said to have killed Zaydinis to return peace to the world, even though Zaydinis was his brother. They have a yearly festival called Avlism, dedicated to Abel’s accomplishment of triumphing over Zaydinis. Warm, honey and cinnamon buns are served and candles are lit, and it is much like Diwali. This is the main festival. Verithacan people usually have pale, European-style skin.

However, Emerian culture is centered around Zaydinis, god of shadow and black panthers. The general “vibe” is an earthy clay red along with dark purple and black. The Emerian flag is a dark purple background and a white crescent with a black star inside it, and the Emerish palace is earthy clay red. They have festivals at least once a month, and they are a bright vibrant culture, unlike Verithaca, which is centered around colors like white and yellow. Black panthers are considered a symbol of luck and are worshipped, unlike in Verithaca, where they are considered cursed. In Emery, spices are used more than herbs (Verithaca uses mainly herbs) and gold and silk are common. Emerish people have pretty dark skin and are known for their beautiful eye shape.

Tallenia is an island, off the coast of Verithaca, but it is part of Emery and has similar culture. It has less of a earthy clay red vibe and more of a black and dark purple vibe, with a little bit of bright blue and silver because that’s the prince’s vibe. In Tallenia, spices are used heavily— much more than in Emery. Because Tallenia is an island, the culture evolved from Emerian culture. However, the language is slightly different and there is more of a fishing culture. Salt is used as currency there, and Tallenia is kind of like Japan. However, Tallenia doesn’t have earthquakes. Tallenian people have caramel skin, a few shades lighter than those of the Emerians.

Part Three: (525/500 words)

HONK.

The people of Verithaca ran to reach their buildings, almost frantic in their attempt to continue with their lives. Atom rolled his eyes to himself.

These people didn’t understand how much effort he had put into keeping the world running. Ungrateful brats. Some days he wished he weren’t the dictator, that the land was ruled by all.

Stupid, he thought to himself. If they ruled the land, who would you be? That’s what I thought— now keep your head down and come up with a plan to stop this.

But he had already come up with a plan— something genius. No one would ever feel left out again. Not like he had.

Atom glanced across the room, staring at his masterpiece— the push that would make the dominoes fall. It was a vial of green liquid— not poisonous, but nearly there. It looked small, discreet, and unnoticeable —as he preferred it to be.

This vial was everything. The king in his game of chess.

“Is everything alright?” Clarinda drawled into his ear. He hadn’t any idea how she had gotten so close without him noticing, but Clarinda was like a sleek cat— slinking in and out of dark places, roaming wherever she pleased. No one could stop her— no one wanted to. Sometimes Atom thought she was more powerful than he, but they both answered to a higher deity.

“It’s fine,” he muttered back. “Get out of my face, will you?”

“You’re in a good mood today.”

“Thank you.”

“When will you use it?”

“That’s none of your business.”

Clarinda rolled her eyes.

“Have you even tested it yet?”

Well… no, but he wasn’t going to give Clarinda that satisfaction. You see, this legendary mixture he had created was made from the ingredients that those puny children had collected for him, thinking they were making a remedy for their sick friend. The ingredients could only be brewed by an innocent hand that hadn’t seen the shadows of the world, so after they brewed it, Atom swooped in and stole the mixture. The children were currently locked up in an impenetrable prison.

The mixture itself was the most powerful thing in the world— elevating his status to that greater than a god. In this world, everyone had elemental magic, like fire or air, and they were heavily reliant on their abilities. Atom had been born without magic and was bullied for it. That was why he had made this— it would rob everyone of their magic, so that he would never be the freak or the odd one out. He would have thought that Liaxe, another person born without magic and leader of the children, would have understood, but the silly boy believed in “empathy” and “kindness”. Foolish person.

His plan? To somehow release a gas version into the air and have it affect everyone. Perhaps through a ginormous reverse vacuum technology? Air vents? At an initiation ceremony? As a food-borne disease? There were so many ways. Maybe even through the water.

He would never be left out again. Everyone would be happy.

Little did he know that Verithaca wasn’t the only place with magic…

Part 4: (804/800 words)

Welcome to Verithaca, Tallenia, and Emery (still coming up with a collective name— the magical continents or something? I don’t know. ), a high fantasy collection of continents and islands where everyone is born with magic— or made to suffer. Tallenia and Emery have similar cultures, while Verithaca is completely different. Currently, Tallenia and Verithaca are at war (well, Emery and verithaca, but Tallenia is technically a part of Emery, so that counts, I guess?) because Verithaca thinks that shadow magic is evil and the majority of Emery’s population has shadow powers that were artificial and created by a god. These powers were not found naturally in any mage (except for Clarinda, but she’s the plot twist that the readers will never see coming— totally), and Verithaca thinks that doing this to mages is wrong, even if they consent.

Atom is an evil mage who originally came up with the idea for shadow magic, but he did so in Verithaca, where he was shunned for thinking of something so “cursed”. He fled to Emery, bitter and broken, and shared his idea with a more open-minded audience. There, he became a legend and close friends with Zaydinis, god of shadows and darkness and patron god of the continent. Eventually, they became so close that they merged as one, but Zaydinis became greedy and started controlling Atom. A seed of darkness corrupted them both, and they became a villain fixed on one thing: stealing everyone’s powers. This stemmed from when Atom had no powers and was bullied for it, so he was trying to make sure no one ever felt left out again. In his twisted evil mind, he was doing the right thing.

The protagonist, also someone without powers, begins to wonder if Atom is really doing a bad thing. He has also been bullied for his lack of powers, and he knows how it feels to be the outcast. However, he is also madly in love with a girl who is sick because she has been infected with a disease that strips people of their powers, ensuring her immune system is compromised. He doesn’t want to take people’s loved ones away for something he could learn to deal with, making him a better person than Atom. Atom is, in a way, the “foil” of the story as Draco is to Harry. However, Atom has a character arch (although it is negative) and Draco doesn’t.

The protagonist’s girlfriend has shadow magic but is ashamed of it, because she lives in Verithaca, where shadow magic is seen as cursed— almost as cursed as not having powers at all. It’s an insecurity of hers, so she hasn’t told anyone. The protagonist finds out but isn’t mad— after all, he’s an outcast too. The two become close friends, then more. The girlfriend’s sister grows jealous, because she thought the protagonist was cute and deserved her. She becomes corrupt and allows Atom’s forces to sway her to the dark side, eventually betraying them and leading to the death of her boyfriend. That snaps her out of it, but she becomes evil again once she finds out that he was dating her out of pity and because the protagonist’s girlfriend was his ex and they looked alike. The protagonist’s girlfriend had told her ex to “take care” of her sister, but the ex eventually fell in love with her. The sister didn’t know, though, and her rage also led to her killing her boyfriend.

This leads her to become angry and depressed, and Atom/Zaydinis fuel these negative feelings. She does something and eventually realizes that they’ve been manipulating her, and she’s the one who ends up killing them in the end. Then, she’s not sure where to go. She leaves, even after Liaxe tells her there will always be a place for her.

There are six elements: shadow, earth, fire, water, air, and ice. Each place in Verithaca has a certain type of mages dominating the population. For example, in Norvadik, a cold place to the north of Verithaca, there are mainly ice mages, because ice mages have colder body temperatures. Meanwhile, Emery has the highest concentration of shadow mages because they have more open-minded people, and Verithaca has the rarest amount because shadow mages are “cursed” there. In Luxuria, a place rich in gold, water, and lush land, water mages and earth mages are most common. For this reason, people with certain abilities often move to certain places.

This story is all about being the outcast and not the “Chosen One” (finally, a break from that trope). It follows a futilite, someone without powers, and their journey on a quest. It also follows their insecurities and has character arcs around each character. The main theme? It’s what’s on the inside that counts— not your powers or hair or clothes.

Daily 10: Describe an image (exactly 300/300 words)

I wasn’t sure what image to do my writing on, so I asked my mom, and she said pasta. Pasta. Pasta. PASTA! At this point, I was fairly sure she was just trying to torture me, because earlier in the day, when I was playing badminton with my dad, my sister was folding leaves to look like pasta. I told her they resembled pasta, and then immediately regretted it because then I wanted to eat the pasta (inner bigback summoned). That resulted in a strange urge to eat her leaves.

To make things worse, my sister kept saying pasta over and over again, as if she was trying to torture me. Then, she convinced me we were going to have pasta for dinner— but we weren’t! OH MY GOD MY SISTER IS EVIL!

So, of course I decided to torture myself again with this prompt by looking up pasta. Instant regret— creamy alfredos and chicken pasta and broccoli and red marinara sauce! Oh my god I want pasta so bad. The picture I’m focusing on has broccoli in it, which I think makes the pasta look even more delicious because veggies taste good with pasta, add flavor, and are good for you. I can also see some seasoning, although it may just be broccoli crumbs, that made me ten times hungrier for pasta.

The background is a table that is probably white, but it looks kind of blue from the shadow of the bowl. I can see a random charcuterie board in the background, although it could also be a cutting board (are charcuterie boards used for cutting too?). Supposedly this is chicken alfredo pasta, although I don’t see any pasta. Oh, this looks delicious— I would definitely make it if I had any cooking skills (which I don’t). Yummy.

Daily 12: Titles (266 words)
Prompt: why do my waffles keep exploding? by Cat_Lover4132

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I mix the batter really well and make sure to turn on the waffle maker and leave it on only for a certain amount of time. I don’t add any blueberries or fruits or potential hazards that could cause this. I even used vanilla extract, which I thought was the answer to everything. The vanilla extract has betrayed me! Oh, please save me from this horrible fate. A world without waffles!

You see, whenever I make waffles, the waffle maker always explodes! It’s an explosion of creamy, gooey unripe waffle mix and dynamite. But I don’t understand why the waffle maker would explode— it’s not as if I put an explosive in it or anything… Oh why, do the gods above wish me a horrible fate?

Maybe some extra dynamite will make it better. But it’s not ACTUALLY dynamite— that’s just the name of the powdered sugar company. Right? Oh well, let me just sprinkle a heapful more because everything is better with sugar (hashtag sugar rush). *Turns waffle maker on*.

See? It’s doing it again— that sizzling and crackling noise. Waffles are supposed to ONLY sizzle, not crackle. Crackling is for fireworks and pancakes (they deserve to burn). Oh no. Maybe the pancake lovers are out to get me! Makes sense, the surly little fun-ruiners. They’re here to sabotage my wonderful waffles!

I won’t let them. I’ll gather my whisk and my spatula and my spoon and turn their precious beloved pancakes into mush! Then, they will never eat pancakes again. Waffles shall rule the world forever, MWAHAHAHA!

Weekly: Total of 2086 words

Part 1: 322 words

(65 words) Enemies-to-lovers is great, but it has pros and cons. For example, while the internal conflict that occurs with enemies to lovers is great and keeps me hooked, the writing can sometimes be cheesy. Also, it’s a bit unrealistic (in my opinion) to go from enemies to lovers in the span of one book, but there are plenty of book series where this occurs more gradually.

(62 words) The chosen one is probably one of the most controversial tropes ever. Sure, reading about a main character who is the main character is great (go Harry Potter!) it can feel a little too much. Like, it’s great that you get special powers, but you aren’t the center of the world. This trope feels unnatural when the chosen one has no flaws.

(73 words) I have a love-hate relationship with friends-to-lovers. Friends-to-lovers can be a beautiful cheesy romance, but I’m so used to reading love triangles where the friend is never the girl’s meant-to-be that it feels a little weird. Also, if not done correctly, it feels like the boy is simping for the girl from the start while the girl doesn’t care. I’ve read great books with this, but if the boy is her last option…

(50 words) The damsel-in-distress trope. I know a lot of people hate this, but I think it can be pretty underrated. Sure, no girl wants to swoon in a tower while a knight in shining armor comes to save her, but being saved by someone doesn’t mean that the girl is helpless.

(72 words) I don’t know the name for this trope, so I’ll just call it beauty-and-the-beast. The girl is petite and super tiny with a horrifyingly skinny waist, and the boy is a hulking brute with a six-pack. This trope can be great, but I feel like many books over exaggerate the contrast between the boy and the girl. The girl doesn’t have to be tiny, and the boy doesn’t have to be buff.

Weekly Part 2: Writing a trope (527 words)
I stare at her from across the room. Although it isn’t her party, she’s the center of attention. I came here only to see her, and a glance around the room tells me I’m not the only guy. We all watch as she talks to her best friend, so deep in heated conversation that she doesn’t notice the eyes on her. The birthday girl is in the corner of the room, looking miserable. I kind of feel bad for her.

“Hey,” I say, walking up to her. “Happy birthday.”

She seems to brighten, glad to be noticed. Like a flower angling itself towards the sun.

We talk, and something clicks. We’ve been friends ever since, and I’m still trying to convince myself that the link connecting our souls is platonic. It is, and I’m just delusional and desperate. Right?

“Hey. Marissa.” The guy is taller than me, wearing a jock’s jacket and a shiny white smile. I feel strangely jealous.

She looks up from what she’s been writing— some drabble about hope and love. She is even more like a flower in that way. She bites her lip nervously.

“Yes?”

“Would you like to go to the ball with me?”

She blushes, and I feel a gnawing protectiveness, a strange urge to tell the guy to back off. She’s obviously flattered.

He doesn’t care about you, I want to growl. Not like I do.

I’m definitely not okay. Love does that to a person, but I don’t even know if this sickly twisted thing inside me is the red rose people say love is. No, it is something dark and eerie, something no one wants to be the receiver of.

“Umm… Sure!”

I can feel the anger building in my gut, the singing of mine mine mine in my veins. How dare she pick a guy who cares less than I? I’m the one. She’s mine.

Suddenly the sickly twisted thing inside of me is growing thorns, and I can’t stop the hateful glare that I give the guy as I storm off. I don’t know where I’m going, just that I must escape before I do something I won’t regret.

“John, wait up!”

I can hear her behind me, upset. Chasing after me, like she should. Mine.

It is all I can do not to stop and claim her like a possessive wolf. I know I should be ashamed, but all I feel is jealousy, an aching pang in my chest. I run, busting open the school doors and stumbling into fresh air. I keep running, and the nature around me soothes me, clearing my thoughts and the thorns within.

Oh shoot.

What have I done? She’ll think I’m weird, will never want to be friends with me again… a broken whimper escapes my throat.

“John?” I hear her then, a few feet behind me. There’s disgust in her voice that makes me want to cry.

So I take off running, fleeing from my feelings and Marissa until they can follow me no more. Mom looks up as I come inside, but I don’t have the heart to explain everything to her. She’ll probably just laugh.

Weekly Part 3: Putting a twist on a trope (500 words)
“What if Harry Potter wasn’t the Chosen One? What if the real saviour was one who lurked in the shadows of a fake celebrity?”

Harry frowned at the strange voice that seemed to have appeared in his head. Wow, when did he start thinking about himself in the third person? All this fame must have gotten to his head (hence the voice inside the head and not, like, broadcasted on the loudspeakers).

“I’m the Chosen One,” he said to no one. “That’s obvious, like saying the grass is green or the sky is blue.”

“Erm actually, due to smog and air pollution, the sky is gray in some areas. Also, some types of bunch grasses are blue (like bluegrasses, which are actually called blue grass for some reason… I wonder why?) and technically not completely green, although they’re a pale bluish-green.”

What the-

“I’m actually losing it,” Harry muttered. “I’m the one who killed Voldemort, therefore, I am the Chosen One.”

See? He could go erm actually too.

“But what if the Chosen One wasn’t destined to kill Voldemort? What if…”

Harry frowned at the oddly dramatic pause and the voice that sounded nothing like his own. In fact, it sounded like the voice of a young girl…

“Who are you?”

“I AM YOUR MOTHER!”

What? His mother was dead. Wait… No, not that joke. The joke that had been around for ages, almost as old as the dinosaurs themselves.

“DId you just ‘I am your mother, you listen to me’ me?”

“Haha, you said meme.”

“But the pronunciation-”

Harry gave up. It was obvious that he was going mental, but he wished it weren’t so easy to tell. Maybe he was so mental that he was diagnosing himself as mental because his inner mental detected mentalness. And yes, he did use mental four times in a sentence (you should have seen the literally war Yume and Prisha had). Wait, who were those people?

Was there… A BUG IN HIS HEAD? Was he a robot? One thing was for sure. He had to find out who these Yume and Prishas were, and get them out of his head—before it was too late!

“You’re so melodramatic. It’s not like I control all your actions and thoughts or anything.”

The voice was female, young, maybe… twenty years old? Wait, what? Twenty-year olds didn’t sound like that. The evil lady must have planted that thought in his head to avoid giving away personal information on Scratch!

She did it again! She gave him information to start searching for her, and get her dirty claws out of his head. Harry chuckled. He had outsmarted the sorceress… or had he? Little did he know that this was all part of the evil lady’s sinister plan…

Part 4: Incorporating a trope into a story (737 words)
“I’m sorry, I know I should stop. I can’t stop thinking about my epic idea. Who knew it was so easy to hack into someone else’s characters and make them feel crazy?”

“BLEUAHH!”

Harry jumped up from the new Muggle creation he had been hunched over— a comp-pooper or something? It was a rather useful device. He quickly shut the pooper and whirled around, hoping she hadn’t see what he was searching about.

Scratch, it seemed, was a coding app where people such as @griffpatch made interesting games that other people “grinded” on. There seemed to be no sign that it was part of the wizarding world, so the evil lady was a Muggle. However, any searches for a “prisha” showed many different accounts, none of which matched the description I had. Then, I searched for a “yume”. The only thing that seemed to pop up was Yume Nikki, whatever that was. A quick search showed it was a video game.

Ah, Muggles did such strange things in their free time. Harry thought about his children, spending all their time outside playing Quidditch and reading spellbooks. Ginny was the more Muggle oriented out of the two of them, always trying to introduce the children to “brainrot” and “memes”. They sounded as bad as they were.

“Wh-Who are you?” Harry asked, turning his attention back to the lady (if he could look at a voice inside his head).

“I am… the ultimate, the mighty, the perfect… I AM THE AUTHOR!”

“As in someone who… writes books? What is an author doing in my head?”

“Authors need to get in the heads of their characters to write stories, obviously.”

“But I’m not a character. I’m a real person.”

“To some extent. You’re in an alternate universe than I am, and I have power over what happens to you.”

“WHAT? B-but everything-”

“Is so real? Yeah, but the power of the imagination is stronger than anything else in the world, the universe, even.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Because I want to write this story in this way, and NOTHING CAN STOP ME! Unfortunately, I need to erase your memory of this to ensure the plot continues correctly and the trope I picked will work.”

“But why do you need to write ‘tropes’? And why are you so… American?”

The girl’s voice guffawed in my head.

“Why, do you want me to talk in a Briht-ish accent? Would you like a boht-uhl of wat-uh?”

Harry gaped at the evil (and American) lady’s imitation.

“British people do not talk like that! Actually, Americans over exaggerate the accent for the sake of memes and gaining attention on Youtube.”

“How do you know about Youtube?”

“I have my ways,” Harry grinned, feeling like an evil villain. If this was how being an author felt, he was going to start writing stories.

“You’re an interesting person, Harry.”

The evil lady materialized in front of me, and her jaw dropped open.

“Y-You controlled the story! What is this evil sorcery?”

Harry grinned and held up his pooper.

“While you were busy mocking my British accent, I opened my computer, found the Google Doc you were writing on, and edited the story. Now, you shall never terrify characters again with this story! MWAHAHAHA!”

The evil lady cackled.

“You underestimate my power, amateur writer. I am not alone. I have the power of SWC!”

“What?”

“Oh, you wouldn’t have found it unless you digged hard. SWC is a tri-annual writing camp, where writers can exchange advice and receive constructive criticism. There are also dailies and weeklies, and this story is part of a weekly. Therefore, when I submit this weekly, someone will realize that I have been abducted by my own character, and while that may be embarrassing, they will rescue me by making a fanfic out of my fanfic!”

“What’s a fanfic?”

The evil lady gasped.

“Scandalous, the lack of education is. Fanfictions are when an author takes a story written by another person and puts their own spin on it.”

“So you’re saying that you didn’t create me?”

“Exactly. Your real creator was J.K. Rowling!”

“So…does that mean J.K Rowling was my mother or Lily Evans?”

“It depends on your definition of mother. Since J.K. Rowling wrote you as being born of Lily Evans, Lily is your mother. But since she made both of you, she is like your grandmother.”

“Huh.”

Hello! Welcome to my one thousand word introduction!! (Well, hopefully one thousand words anyway, I hope I can make it lol) I suppose I should give you the basic information that you may actually use first. I go by Dawn online and my pronouns are she/her. I feel like that's basically all you *need* to know but I'm going to tell you more anyway xP I'm currently in my twelfth/senior year of high school so I'll hopefully be graduating in June!! I'm super excited about that because I am SO done with school. I'll be sharing more of my plans (or lack thereof) for after school later on in my introduction. The last thing I'll mention before going deeper into certain aspects of my life is that I'm Christian. I don't really know what else to say on that aspect but it's an important part of my identity and I didn't want to leave it out lol. Okay, onto my hobbies!!

I have had so many hobbies throughout my life. Was I good at most of them? No. But they were fun and I enjoyed them. I tend to get bored really easily so I cycle through hobbies. I used to do a lot of active activities such as Taekwondo, Aerial Silks, and Gymnastics. However, during covid I was locked up in my house and my interests became more grandma-oriented. I've always loved anything crafty and covid gave me the opportunity to explore more of those interests. I learned knitting, crocheting (sort of, I quickly gave up on that but recently tried to learn it again), cross stitch, embroidery, things of that nature. I also love drawing and painting!! I think that's probably the second-longest hobby I've ever had, with reading being the first. I've always loved reading, ever since I first learned. I was really good at it when I was younger. I started drawing more when I was probably around twelve. I learned digital art with my finger and my mom's phone xD Since then I've upgraded to a tablet and pen, which is so much easier. I still have a lot to learn but I'm planning to attempt at combining to of my favourite hobbies (drawing and writing) and creating a webcomic. It will probably be a few years before I actually release it but I'm currently working on planning the story and character design. I'm thinking of making it a train murder mystery thing with a lot of found family dynamics (and *maybe* a love story or two sprinkled in ) In the past couple years I've been getting back into musical theatre. I did it for about a year (maybe two??) before covid. It's been really nice to reconnect with old theatre friends and become more active again. I now take dance classes through the theatre program as well. Lately I haven't been able to audition due to having less time because of schoolwork so I've started doing tech which is so much fun!! I did mics last show which was a learning curve but so rewarding. Another hobby (I promise this is the last one I'll talk about before I move on lol) I did for a bit was horseback riding. I love horseback riding so much and I'd still do it if it weren't for allergies :'( Horses have been my favourite animal for as long as I can remember and I've dreamed of doing horseback riding ever since I was a little girl. Unfortunately I developed allergies to hay, horses, and dust (as well as cats but that isn't relevant) when I was eight due to some moldy hay at a horse camp. So that put an end to my horseback riding dreams. I still love horses and live vicariously through videos xDD

Okay, moving on from hobbies (finally). Welcome to the section where I ramble about my future!! Like I said earlier, I'll (hopefully) be graduating in June. What's after that? I'm glad you asked. Short answer: I don't know. I literally have no idea. I don't have a job lined up, not even a summer job. I applied to one college for a digital media degree but realized I don't actually want to go there (like I have absolutely no desire to spend any time there) so I withdrew my application. And now I don't know what I'm doing. It's causing me the tiniest bit of stress but it's alright. I'll be fine. If I'm being honest, all I really want for my future is to get married and have kids. I want to be a stay at home mom who lives out in the country with a ton of animals. It sounds so stupid but I have no desire to actually go to college and get a career. But I don't think that will be happening anytime soon (if it happens at all lol) so I need to figure out what to do with myself in the meantime. I wish I could make a living off of art, but that's notoriously hard to do. I do make some money off of art, but it's more extra pocket money than anything I could live off of. So yeah, there's a lot of uncertainty right now. But I'll figure something out. I'm currently looking into gap year programs where I can travel.

Okay, that's enough about my future and all the worries that come with it. Let's move on to a lighter topic. Like music!! I will listen to pretty much anything that's clean (or mostly clean) and not directly against God. Or rock and roll, rap, or punk, not a huge fan of those genres lol. I love musicals!! Musicals are like my one exception to my “has to be clean” rule. My favourites are Dear Evan Hansen, Six, and Epic the Musical. If you ever want to ramble about musicals, feel free to comment!! (Or if you have any musical recommendations send them my way :eyes I also enjoy some pop songs, though admittedly not as much as I did a few years ago. Another top genre of mine is country. Though I have to be careful about what country songs I listen to because my hardcore country friend will slap me if I listened to what she deems “fake country” (jk, I love her <3) Honestly disney and barbie make up a large portion of what I listen to. I don't care how childish it is, I will always love animated movies.

That puts me over one thousand words!! Challenge has been completed. I will now go p̶l̶a̶y̶ ̶m̶a̶f̶i̶a̶ do schoolwork ( Bye guys!!

It was called Not a Secret… and it was a secret because when I tell you this was the worst thing ever written–
I had three main characters: Raini, Hesta, and Daze. Now, Raini was a fine character. A bit annoying, sure. A bit weird, definitely. But not too bad. Definitely not too bad compared to the other two screaming, crying, throwing up

And then there was Hesta. She was so annoying. The entire book all she did was get into fights with everyone over literally nothing and also she supported the queen who was evil sooooooo sucks to suck

If I had more personality traits, I wouldn’t have to write about Daze </3 But here we go. Daze was e-boy. An emo boy. I was obsessed with emo boys. Homeboy was like six and a half feet tall. He had giant platform boots. He had chains for hair (I wish I was making this up). He had a girlfriend, somehow??? One time in the story, a plastic cup rolled against his boot, and he got so mad for literally no reason honestly it was kinda funny

I’m not gonna go all this way, sharing my horrible characters and not share quotes from the book… so here you go </3

Arggggggghhhhhhhhhhh, Daze thought, I hate this school. It’s making me go all soft-y. And I like Nova. NO WAIT THAT’S BAD. How? DON’T EVEN CONSIDER IT, DAZE. Consider the possibilities. NO.

Hesta facepalmed, but Daze didn’t even look at the paper cup, until…
The cup touched his boot. Daze made a horrified face and looked at it.
“You DARE touch my boot!” he screamed at the cup. He picked it up and shredded it. “THAT is what TRAITORS who touch my BOOT get!”

I hope you enjoyed that because now I have to live with the thought that this is on the internet forever :sparkles

Yeah so anyway this month I’ll be writing something else and lets all hope that’s better thanks!!!

SECTION THREE: swc
I lovelovelove swc!!! It’s my favorite thing in the world and I believe I currently have the record for most consecutive sessions :00 anyway! This is my third time in Dystopian and also my third time leading and I’m so excited because I know we’re going to CRUSH it! We have Eevee on our team and last session she wrote like one million words so i’m pretty confident
(but i am also scared because luna isn’t in dystopian, and she’s at 4k words from HER INTRO?!)

SECTION FOUR: fun facts
Okay so this is literally the most random insane facts about me so buckle in:
I am extremely good at getting things out of my eyeballs like cat hair and eyelashes
My hair is red (so are all three of the bathrooms in my house)
Fake plants make me happy (I have like 15)
Jinx is amazing and I love her (not a fun fact about ME but…)
I’m a wanderer main because I love him <3
I love cake
I believe in Blahaj supremacy

SECTION FIVE: hot takes
Here are my hot takes because I need more enemies in my life:
Ketchup tastes good with mac and cheese
Lasagna is nasty
Coffee is highkey gross
Cold showers are NOT good for your mental health, and anyone that says otherwise wants to ruin your life
Pizza is not good
Hot dogs are not good
Dinosaurs are very cool
Writing is very easy its the procrastination that makes it hard
KOTLC is, I’m sorry, one of the worst book series I’ve ever read. When is the next one
Sports are boring all of them
Star wars is really bad
Lord of the Rings is overrated
That stairway to heaven song is literally not good at all i dont know why it like won an award or something

SECTION SIX: current work
This march, i am going to be writing a novel!!!! I really want to finish this one but i highly doubt i actually will it makes me sad because i’ve only finished one novel in my whole life and it was that awful one about those stupid people who are annoying

There’s gonna be a girl group that sings songs and its gonna be a sci-fi cyberpunk dystopian thriller ehehehe

SECTION SEVEN: who am I?
Facts about me!!!! My name is Storm irl as some of you may know :> i have a very dark and desaturated wardrobe and i wear exclusively cargo shorts/pants and leather jackets. My favorite physical activity is trampolining becaue it is awesome and my favorite animal is a bat and a shark. I am an atheistic Satanist and I like to learn about all different beliefs and faiths!! I am running out of things to talk about on fridays i get to go to the gas station where i get chicken tenders and a mountain few. It’s very good. I can’t recommend it because its by my house but it’s very, very good. I also collect Squishmallows.

Wait. Wait. Wait.
How could I forget? My biggest story of all time?

SECTION EIGHT: my crazy story
This isn’t a story that will ever become public, so this is all the information you get eheheh
It’s all in my head. It’s very complicated. Very, very, complicated. Our main nation is very, very powerful, and they are about to be at war with a smaller nation run by the son of the leader of the bigger nation. The bigger nation is going to win. Obviously. They have all the power. They have like a military.

Thanks for reading!!!!!!!!! 1029 words

March 1st Daily (1k intro challenge!) || 1251 words

Hi! I'm 129waterfall, and I'm doing the thousand word intro challenge for SWC March ‘25. While writing a thousand words about yourself is technically not the daily, somehow us SWC’ers created a crazy tradition where a lot of us write a thousand words for this first daily. (Which is always to introduce yourself.) Some might think we're quite self centered for writing so much about ourselves, but hey, it's really fun! I tried it a couple sessions ago, and I've been writing these really long intros ever since. If you're actually reading this post, wow, and I hope you'll get to know me a lot lol- Now on to the actual intro:

I'll start with what I'm doing in SWC. I'm actually kind of an swc veteran at this point. (I don't know if I am qualified to call myself this, but let's pretend I am.) I've been doing SWC since 2019. I participated in two sessions as a camper before deciding I should go for leader! I got accepted as a co in fantasy, leading with pitau and a cs with a bunch of numbers haha. I went on to (co)lead cabins such as sci-fi, and non-fi. I've also been an honorary camper in thriller, and have been a camper a couple more times. I'll try to put together a list of cabins I've been in, but I'm honestly not sure since it's been so long - in fact, I often have to go to the official swc records to remember what sessions i lead. (That's how you know you're getting old in my opinion-) I've been in: Fantasy, Adventure, Thriller, Real-fi, Sci-fi, Non-fi, and I believe more, but again, I can't really remember. I've been off of scratch for a while but I've come back with aCtiViTeA and more swc! I'm easing myself back into it, and this session, I'm a camper in Fantasy! We have an absolutely amazing cabin, with the theme of Wicked, which I love so much. We have a great leading team, and I'm super excited to get to know more people throughout this session. Also, we're determined to win and be active, all the other cabins are simply inferior. (let's go fantasy!!) As an avid theater kid though, I may have to flip our enemies and allies, knowing the true story of Wicked. As any good SWC'er, I am a huge fan of mangoes. /ref hehe. Another note about SWC, March is 1000% my session. It's always such a great session, and I really struggle being active during the other months, but for some reason March I have the motivation and focus for this! (That's also why every session I've (co)lead has been in March too lol) But March always has great people, and SWC in general always has great people, and that's what I love most - the community and collaboration, and friendliness of SWC. This got cheesy, so moving on….

Next, I'm adding a paragraph on Musical Theater. I could have made just a single paragraph on my hobbies, but some of them just have such a big part in my life, and deserve their own paragraph. This one mainly so I can go on and on about the musicals I like ehehehe. I've been singing since I was super little, and listening to disney soundtracks that really got me into musical theater. I love shows such as Wicked (obviously-) Mean Girls, Anastasia (i love it so much) Six, Hamilton of course, Literally anything disney, Literally anything sondheim, but especially into the woods or sweeny todd. I love infinitely more musicals that I haven't listed, I haven't forgot about them but I can't just go on listing musicals for eternity lol. I also got really into musicals that are just fan made for fun, but become really popular because they're absolutely amazing. I am of course, talking about the Bridgerton musical and Epic the musical! It's so amazing to me how they just woke up and decided they wanted to write a musical based on some of our beloved stories, and just did, and took the initiative to make the albums. My favorites in Epic are the Circe Saga, Wisdom Saga, and anything with Athena, Zeus, Hermes, Tiresius. Honestly though, I just love the whole musical. I've been participating in musical theater since I was in like, kindergarten. I've been in a lot of really fun roles, but if I had to pick one favorite I would choose Belle (beauty and the beast). In general, I'm such a music nerd, which leads us to our next paragraph.

Music! I'm such a music nerd. I've been playing violin for a very long time, and also picked up viola. I am self taught (also known in my case as not that great with bad technique lol) at piano, ukelele, guitar, and recently I got a bass guitar. I somehow acquired perfect pitch over the years, and I love to think about how elementary school me was helping everyone with pitches in school orchestra lmao- I've taken some music theory, but it's pretty boring, not gonna lie. (Still essential of course, but frustrating at times lol) I'm both a choir and orchestra kid, which has caused some debates between my choir and orchestra friends about which is better. I do youth orchestra, and audition only ensembles a lot. I'm super into singing, I have some covers on Scratch, but I'm also a budding singer songwriter. (You will not, however, catch me dead with any original compositions on scratch, I'm not the amazing alba haha)

I do have other non music related hobbies, such as reading and writing, or else I wouldn't be here lol. I'm a huge fan of baking, but I unfortunately don't have a lot of time in my life to bake as much as I'd like. But I get a lot of enjoyment experimenting occasionally with different cookie flavors, and cooking my own meals is (almost) always fun. One thing I really want to do is learn how to bake macarons (and execute it well!) but I also need to do so without the best flour for doing so, Almond flour, due to allergies in our family. Maybe one day when I find the time lol. I do a little art just for fun on scratch, but I've never been the best artist, and realism is definitely not my forte. You will not catch me doing sports outside of when I'm forced to gym class though. I'm super unathletic (whoops, I don't touch grass) but I suppose that's okay because it's balanced with how much of the arts I do.

I just put this in a word counter to check how much I had, and I'm already at over a thousand words! This actually went by super fast and only took about half an hour! (Another thing about me, I have a pretty high WPM as long as I have ideas of what I want to write lol) I think this definitely gets easier as you do it more, and maybe I just like going on about myself- (waterfall exposeddd) I'm usually quite the procrastinator, but with the right motivation (SWC!) I get a lot done, and I really just jumped straight into it this time and it worked out! I totally could go on about myself and my life even more, but my wrist is cramping from typing and I've reached the goal, so this was my 1k+ word intro! Yayyy happy swc

1k Word Intro
About The Post
  • points worth: 0
  • words written: 3,047
  • prompt: 1k word intro <3
Hello everyone!! If you don’t know me, I’m Kenzie! I’m a female and I live in the wonderful CST timezone. This will be my 8th session of SWC and 3rd time (co)leading! I’m co-leading Action this session. #actionftw! Although I'm an introvert irl, online I am very silly and friendly. I love making new friends, so come drop by on my profile! I’m a bookworm, writer, volleyball player, math lover, fantasy lover, homeschooler, Christian, oldest sibling, and scratch camp enthusiast.

First of all, I’m a huge bookworm. I mainly read in the fantasy and Christian fiction genre, but I’m open to pretty much anything. I’ve been reading since kindergarten and I’ve been obsessed with books since. Last year, my dad started getting me more into the fantasy genre. My favorite fantasy series are The Belgariad by David Eddings, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The Nevermoor Series by Jessica Townsend, Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Ruthfuss, Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger, and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein. My favorite authors are Patrick Ruthfuss, Nadine Brandes, and
David Eddings. My favorite Christian fiction series include Out Of Time by Nadine Brandes and Millie Maven by Rachelle Dekker and Ted Dekker. My top five books are (in order) The Bible, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Ruthfuss, Book Scavenger by Jennifer Chamlbliss Bertman, Millie Maven and the Golden Vial by Ted Dekker, and A Time to Rise by Nadine Brandes.

Second of all, I’m a writer! I’ve been coming up with stories since as long as I can remember. From 2020-2022 I took a writing class at my co-op. Then, in October 2022, I discovered SWC and started writing more for fun. Currently I am taking a creative writing class at one of my co-ops. My favorite genre to write in is realistic fiction. One of my goals someday is to write a book and maybe even publish it.

I’ve been playing volleyball since 2023. My parents had wanted me to join a sport but there wasn’t anything that interested me. So, they signed me up for a volleyball camp! After that, I’ve been playing volleyball ever since. I’m taking a volleyball class at my co-op currently.

If you don’t know yet, my favorite school subject is math. It has been for as long as I can remember. As of right now, I’m doing geometry. But very soon I’ll be finished with the course and I’ll be onto Algebra 2! My dad has also let me borrow his calculus book, so sometimes I like to look at that.

I don’t just like math though, I love anything stem! I love coding specifically. I know Scratch, some Javascript, some Java, some CSS, and some HTML. I originally joined Scratch in 2022 because I wanted to learn more about how to code.

I’m also homeschooled. I’ve been homeschooled since I was in 1st grade and I love it a lot! I enjoy having the flexibility and free time. It makes it easy when I’m reading a good book that I want to finish. One of the things that I love about SWC is how many homeschoolers there are.

I’m a Christian. I was born in a Christian family and I’ve been going to church since I was a baby. In 6th grade, I became more serious about my faith and started reading the Bible and praying more. I even got baptized that year at church camp! Currently I’m reading the book of Isaiah, and it’s now one of my new favorites along with John and Revelations. My favorite Bible verses are Matthew 5:14-16 (“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand so that it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”) and James 5:13 (“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.”).

I have two amazing (and annoying) younger brothers. Both of them have accounts, actually! They are four and six years younger than me. I love hanging out with them when I get the chance! Whether it’s causing chaos in my room, playing minecraft, or playing monopoly.

I also have two dogs! Their names are Skye and Brownie and they are both very sweet dogs. They’re German Shorthaired Pointers (or GSPs for short), and they’re hunting/family dogs. Every other year I join my dad and brothers to go to my Great Uncle’s farm to go pheasant hunting! Skye is a very energetic four-year old dog (almost five years old). We got her back in 2020, so she’s a covid baby! She’s a tad bit bossy and she loves playing fetch with tennis balls. Eventually she knew the word ball meant play so then we started spelling it out like “b-a-l-l” but she caught onto that too. Now we say sphere, and so far she hasn’t caught on yet. Brownie has 10x Skye’s energy. She’s very hyper, kind of like me when I am in a silly mood. She jumps really high, taller than I am actually. I love both of my dogs so much.

I’ve also owned other pets in the past. I’ve had two cats and one dog before Skye and Brownie! My cats' names were Mouse and Kilobyte (byte for short)!! My dad wanted to name them that since he likes computers. My dog was named Lizzy and she was a beagle but we had to send her to another family when my middle younger brother was born since it would’ve been too much on my mom at the time. My dad had wanted to name her Cat-5, because the name was silly and he liked computers.

I enjoy listening to music! I mainly listen to Christian music, but I have a few secular songs in my playlists. Artists that I like are Claire Leslie, Allison Eide, Allie Paige, Taylor Armstrong, Relient K, JJ Heller, Switchfoot, Skillet, LOVKN, Madison Ryann Ward, Sarah Nathalie, MUCH MORE, RIDERS, Leslie Perez, Audio Adrenaline, ISLY, Claudia Isaki, and PFR. I listen to a variety of genres including Christian rock, Christian indie, and Christian pop.

Most of my hobbies are reading, writing, coding, doing schoolwork, scrapbooking, organizing, and chatting with friends! I’ve played the piano in the past and I’ve been in choir. I was even in a Cinderella play once which was really fun.

My favorite food is mac and cheese. My favorite animal is a wolf. My favorite color changes a lot but I like light pink, light blue, or lavender. My favorite school subject is math. My favorite book is the Bible. My favorite song is Christ Be Magnified by Cody Carnes. My favorite sport is volleyball. My favorite drink is Hot Chocolate. My favorite soda is Orange Fanta.

And finally on to the biggest section… Scratch!! I first discovered Scratch in January 2022 and my first projects were mainly the usual ones you’d see a new scratcher post. Mainly games and other sorts of test projects. Eventually I got tired of that account, and made my ItsKenzie22 account! On that one I posted a lot of content related to me being a Christian and homeschooler.

One day, I discovered a scratcher who was hosting an event that was similar to a scratch camp but not quite exactly. It was like a school. There were different classes you could sign up for. I joined the writing class. I think it ran in October or November 2022 but I’m not sure exactly. Through that camp, I think I followed someone who was also an SWCer and one day I saw the SWC camper signups for November 2022 on my “What my followers are doing” section. I remember asking my mom if I could do it and she said yes! At first I didn’t have a preference, but after looking into it more I decided that I really really really wanted to be in Fantasy or Sci-fi. But, I had to do three preferences and so I put Fan-fi along with them.

The end of October came rolling around and I was sorted into Fan-fi! For a brief description of the storyline for as much as I can remember, we were working for some agency. I can’t remember much since I didn’t participate in the storyline veryy much. But there were different missions too. It wasn’t exactly the cabin I had been wanting, so I was a bit disappointed but I still went along with it. I didn’t do that many dailies or weeklies (maybe a few but I didn’t always finish them) but I was a very energetic camper involved with all of the inside jokes. I even made a SWC account called “SWCmango” where I went by Flora. I think it was also the session that the #SkyTyranny inside joke came from as well.

In January 2023, I decided that I’d apply for (co)leader on my SWCmango account. I didn’t quite understand how to make a good quality application and so that first application wasn’t the best. But, I’m glad that I wasn’t accepted as a (co)leader. If I had been, I wouldn’t have been a thriller camper in March 2023.

March 2023 is my favorite session because I finally had the hang of SWC. Thriller was a very interactive cabin with many fun activities and the perfect mix of people. I loved it so much. Basically we were in an escape room and it went through different rooms like masquerade, musueum/catacombs, snow dome, haunted house/forest, and shipwreck. There were so many cool activities like roleplay, do certain games (like three word story, fortunately/unfortunately), complete puzzles, and more! That session was the one that was Birdi’s last session, and as the sweet camper I was I decided to make a project for Birdi when she left.

That collab brought me closer to many other SWCers and sparked friendships. I still love looking back at our project or forum thread. It even helped me learn about working in a team, since I hadn’t had much experience with that IRL due to being independent and homeschooled.

In July 2023, I decided to try applying for (co)leader again. I wasn’t accepted, so I was just a camper. I was very inactive that session. I was in Dystopian. I think it was basically a Spy Academy one where we were working for a prince and had to help him. Since I was inactive, I don’t remember much.

In November 2023 (my first year!) I was a camper in Horror but I wasn’t active at all that session. Horror was a funhouse type of theme and I have no idea what the storyline was since I was inactive.

Then, I decided to try applying again for (co)leader for March 2024 and this time I was accepted! I led Dystopian with Mouse, Lio, and Allen! It was an amazing experience and although I was a bit inactive at the end I learned a lot. The plot was basically we had escaped from the city nearby, discovered a ruin, and then I think do something which I do not remember lol.

In July 2024, I was just a camper in Fantasy since I was too busy IRL to co-lead. It was a very fun session!!! It was based off of the new Wonka movie!! It was a chocolate shop and it was so cool and Ris was in the cabin yay.

In September 2024, I decided that I’d apply for (co)leader! I ended up being the leader of Hi-Fi TCTWNW and it was the happiest moment of my life. I loved the storyline/plot and all of the campers. The storyline was basically we were trapped in a museum and we had to escape from it by finding all four parts of a key and so we did that by using the time machine in the basement and we travelled to the Dinosaurs, Ice age, Medieval age, and 1800s. Vi and Paige were wonderful to lead with! I’d probably join (or even (co)lead) TCTWNW again since it’s a lot of fun.

And finally, this session I was debating on whether or not to apply and I decided to! I’m so glad I did because I get to co-lead the (best /j) spiderverse cabin with Ris and Ayla!! I don’t want to spoil anything though but it will be very fun!!

Onto other scratch camps that I’ve been in, I’ve been in soo many different camps. I’ve mainly been a camper, but I’ve been a co-leader a few times and a leader once.

Out of all the camps I’ve been in other than SWC my favorites are JWC, SRC, and Camp Kitchen (that camp should be brought back. I loved it so much).

I’ll talk about a few sessions/months that were really memorable to me.

January 2023 was amazing! It was my first time in JWC and I was in the Sleuth cabin led by Piper and Pineapple. I think we had to escape a library (hmm so many cabins that I have been in have been about escaping someplace xD) I miss this session so much. It was filled with lots of roleplaying, puzzles (my clue group was so chaotic xD we kept trying to decipher the clues even further past then what we were supposed to), and chatting.

April 2023 was a very chaotic month for me. I was a camper in around 8 camps! I can’t remember the exact number though. It was fun.

Finally, October 2023 where I led a cabin for the very first time in a small camp called CKS (Camp Keyboard Smash) will always have a place in my heart. I led Mystery and we were trapped in a mansion.

Phew! That’s a lot of information. But, I’m not done quite yet because I want to write as much as possible.

My goals for this session are to write 15,000 words, do 15 dailies, do two weeklies, do 15 critiquitaires and word wars, and participate in both cabin wars (if IRL events don’t affect it). I have a feeling that I’ll be able to pass my word goal this session! I hope I can.

So many words woah. I want to write more then Mouse because why not > I have just given up on not doing emoticons xD

Hmmm, I could talk about all of the really cool people that I’m friends with!! Or people that I admire a lotl. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to include everyonee but I’ll include as many people as I can think of.

Mouse - FELLOW CHAOS CAUSER AND HOMESCHOOLER AND CHAOS GANG MEMBER!! hellooo you’re so cool <33 I love chatting with you!! I don’t even know when we first started talking but I think sometime after March 2023 xD So almost two years :00. You’re so amazing at art!!

Ris - HIII BESTIE I’M SO GLAD I KNOW YOU <33 The first time we interacted that I can remember is when you and Dawn were roleplaying and I didn’t know that you had special names for eachother so I thought Dawn saying something to Siri was that she was talking to Siri the iPhone assistant xD I was so embarrassed when I realized otherwise- I love chatting with you so much ) the library was so cool (iykyk).

Bella - YOU’RE SO COOL AND SILLY <33 I love hearing you talk about your crush! He sounds amazing and it’s so cute )

Vi - I MISS YOU ALREADY </3 I’m so sad that you left ( But at least we can still kind of chat!! You’re so cool and fun to chat with and you’re just amazing <33

Poppy - YAY ACTION HONORARY!! I’M SO HAPPY YOU SAID YES. You’re so sweet and mature and I admire you so much <33

Eevee - I love talking with you, you're so cool and a few Christian homeschooler!!

Alex - We need to talk more, I don’t think we’ve talked in quite a while.

Ivy/Jasper - YOU’RE SO COOL AND I STILL LOOK UP TO YOU HEHE <33 You’re soo amazing at art!! We should really talk more.

Sage - I’m still so in awe that you managed to become a leader for your second session, that’s so cool!! I had a feeling that you would. I love how chaotic you are!

Yume - You’re so chaotic and sweet honestly. You’re amazing!!

Okay, I can’t think of anyone else at the moment so sorry if I forgot you.

I’m very excited for this session!! March sessions are always really fun. My favorite sessions are March sessions.

This month I plan on writing short stories mainly. Probably dailies, weeklies, and other things and then I’ll just add onto them. In the past, I’ve had ideas but then I’ve never started or finished them. Maybe this session I’ll work on some of those stories. In my creative writing class, we write different stories in class each week. This past week it was on Imagism which is mainly poetry and it’s like describing things in a way that gives you a clear picture in your mind quickly. I made two poems describing spring and summer.

The week before that, it was on Fables. I wrote a fable on honesty with two other girls. Our teacher had us draw three random animals out of a bag and we ended up with a Dinosaur, Giraffe, and Gorilla. It was a very weird combo but we made a story.

Other stories that I’ve written for that class include a poem on sledding, a sci-fi story where an alien came to visit earth, a fight on a beach using only dialogue, and more.

Well, unfortunately that’s as far as I can get for now. Thanks for reading all the way to the end, if you have!!! And that’s it for my introduction <3

word count: 1000
hey everyone, im angie, and this is my 3rd swc session! (new account)

hobbies ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・:
reading - i read 100 books last year, and my goal this year is 125!! my fav genres are contemporary fiction, the L-word genre that scratch wont let me say, and fantasy, with a sprinkle of dystopian. my favorite book of all time is the summer of broken rules by K.L. walther, with a runner up of divine rivals.
writing - i’ve been writing since i was little. i take a creative writing elective at my school, which has given me a lot of inspiration to write. i’ve been working on a novel recently, but i kinda gave up on it because of all the plot holes that appeared throughout.
tennis - i’ve played tennis since i was like 4, hitting the bright green thing against my grandpa’s garage door. don’t ask me how many fell into my neighbors yard. i play every weekend, and i’m nowhere near professional, but i’ve always found it slightly enjoyable (as enjoyable as sports can get)
music - i listen to laufey, stephen sanchez, billy joel, taylor swift, gracie abrams, keane, billie, and the smiths. i’ve been to laufey, taylor swift, and stephen sanchez’s concerts (i saw gracie as an opener for taylor) and im going to billy joel this year. my current (changes every…. day…) favorite song is you’re on your own, kid, by taylor swift.
rock climbing - i love rock climbing (primarily indoors), specifically ropes. i dislike bouldering. i am terrified of bouldering. do not ask me what my boulder rating is. i do not boulder. i can climb a 5.11 a/b maximum, and i’ve never done a competition before, but i would like to (eventually). hot take: chalk doesnt do anything.
baking - i bake every weekend, and its usually cookies. i bring most of them to school, which scores me some popularity points and makes some people hate me (yall i cant help if i run out PLEASE). people say they like baking because its relaxing, but im pretty stressed when i bake, and i like it because it takes time and leaves me with delicious treats.

school - my school is considered very advanced, and i take all three sciences every week (physics, biology, chemistry) which is fun but also a lot of work. my teachers arent very good, so i often find myself teaching the material to myself and my friends.
future - i want to become a doctor, specifically an immunologist or internist or oncologist (whatever i like best during my med school rounds). if you can’t tell, i was pretty inspired after watching house md. i like immunology and oncology because they’re just generally interesting, but i like internal medicine because house is basically an internist. the whole puzzle solving thing is so interesting and i just… im sorry. im obsessed with house.
personality - im very ambiverted. terrible social skills, but i’ll fake confidence all the way through life and im pretty comfortable around my friends. my social battery is pretty short lived, and i only have one friend that doesnt burn out the battery. after a day of school, i’ll usually do my homework and then lock myself in my room to read or gossip with the aforementioned friend.

favorites ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・:
book(s) - the summer of broken rules, divine rivals
⇢ the summer of broken rules is the cutest ya i totally recommend!
⇢ divine rivals has been a reread for me for like a year, perfect cozy
movie(s) - poets society
⇢ deceased poets society makes me cry everytime (robert sean leonard (neil perry) is my baby) and the whole thing is just so poetic and sad and im crying thinking about it
show(s) - house md, gossip girl
⇢ house md is the show that got me thinking about going into medicine. best show known to man. foreman, chase, and cameron were my favorite team. if you name a diagnosis, i can tell you which episode its from, and quoting house is my entire life.
⇢ gossip girl is so perfectly dramatic. the gossip at my school is terribly nonexistent (courtesy of the intense academics) and your girl needs her drama. serena annoys me so bad but i’ll push through as long as i can see blair and chuck being perfect per usual.
artist(s) - taylor swift, gracie abrams, billy joel, stephen sanchez, laufey, keane
⇢ the eras tour was probably the best day of my life. i was totally far away from the stage but the experience was so good anyway!! getting to see gracie was such the perfect bonus, i could not be more grateful (thank you mom)
⇢ laufey’s concert was everything you’d expect and more! she’s such a queen omgg
place - nyc
⇢ since i used to live there, i can actually proudly say this. i am not a tourist, and yes, i have actually experienced new york. moving to arizona has basically just shut me down, because, its just so slow here compared to new york. im not trying to be cliche, but new york is always awake. its always magical and beautiful and awesome.

anyway, im gonna try to cap this off at 1000. again, im angie, and im so excited to be a part of scratch writing camp march ‘25! im in the myth cabin, and my goal is 15k words. and my favorite color is blue. and my favorite food is ramen. and i have a dog and she’s a husky labrador. and i’ve edited this so many times because scratch is not very fond of me and continues to give me a warning, so here’s me again. are we going to hit one thousand? last four words here!!

sincerely,
angie

☀ Muxa :: Daily #1 ☀
Long Introduction (Story Edition?!?!?!)
Ah, Scratch Writing Camp. It has been a long time since I have participated in Scratch Writing Camp. How about you sit down, grab some water and maybe a snack or two, and we can go on a trip Magic Schoolbus style (not really) to comprehend my mind. Oh? You don’t want to be warped into my brain? Too bad.
A hand grabs you from the screen, and suddenly everything around you changes from something familiar to something unfamiliar.
“Um. Well, stink. Guess this is second person now, huh?” You hear a voice echoing around the corners of your mind. A cacophony of sounds of beeping and errors startle you. You struggle to resist plugging your ears, but the sound is in your brain… Wait. Why is it in your brain?!?!?
“… Why is this in present tense? No, no, if this is going to be a story, this has to be in past tense. Second person? Doesn’t matter, whatever, but not present tense,” the voice said again.
“Much better.”
Suddenly, a figure appeared next to you, somehow you knew it was just Muxa. Wait, where WERE you, anyway? Weren’t you just looking at the SWC megathread for the March 2025 SWC? A hand grabbed you by the shoulder, leading you forward through the strange darkness. In the distance, there was the soft hum of music.
“Alrighty, hello, we are now in my mind.” Muxa grinned, putting her hands together mischievously. As curious as you were about this introduction, you started to feel that this had gotten a bit… too far.
“Too far?! Insanity!” She cackled, throwing you into the abyss.
You find yourself stabilizing yourself with two hands, somehow not injured, on the floor in a dimly lit room. The music had silenced here, only a soft hum of computer fans remained and the sound of distant typing on a mechanical keyboard.
The source of the typing and humming was in the corner right in front of you, a ragged office chair with its back turned towards you. The rainbow LED lights from the computer underneath the desk flickered, the source of the fan humming. Whoever was in the chair must have been the one typing.
“Ah, welcome to my gamer pad!” The chair spun around to reveal Muxa stroking a feline. You jump again, startled by her appearance as if she was some apparition haunting you. She probably was at this point.
“You must have many questions for me, like why there are chairs scattered all across the room.” Muxa gestures to the chairs levitating around the room with one hand, the other stroking the feline under the chin, a void opening up behind you with nothing but chairs filling the space. You turn back to Muxa, seeing her lean over the darkness of the light covering her face.
“But that does not matter now,” Muxa chuckled, standing up to grab a chair floating above her to put it on the ground next to her. You blinked, standing upright before you were teleported down onto the chair.
“Perfect, cool, so I am going to start with the rad stuff I do on this janky PC. I am quite a computer enjoyer,” Muxa began explaining, but you could not see the computer.
“What.” She turned to you, then turned back to the computer screen. Muxa then punched the screen. The feline got up onto the desk and began rubbing her face all over everything anduuuuuuuuuuYTTTTTTTTTz=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-/dddddddddddddddddddddddddd23]==========================================================
“Tiger, get off my desk,” Muxa groaned, shoving the cat aside. Tiger sat in the corner of the desk, tail lashing as she purred – likely proud of her own work. The feline got up, again, stepping along the keyboard and rubbing her face against the mic arm stand.
Muxa stared at the cat, letting out a sigh of defeat as she gave the kitty the pets.
“Well, now the monitor works at least,” Muxa said, putting her hand back onto the mouse to promptly close the Word window she had open to show you around the computer. There was noticeably a Minecraft screenshot being used as a desktop background, a tranquil night scene of some taiga woods. Purple and white were decoratively dotted around the forest. The focal point of the screenshot was distant fireflies beneath the starlit, cloudy sky. Along the bottom of the desktop was an equalizer that was bouncing up and down. You heard a familiar tune similar to that of the hum from the shadowy abyss except clearer, the sound of it going along with the equalizer you saw on the screen. (Ominous Music Playing) scrolling across a box with Ugress underneath it was in the top right corner alongside the text Now Playing.
“Hmm… Where to first… Oh, I know, my favorite games. This is an introduction, I have to actually introduce myself not write the most goofiest stuff detailing my life,” Muxa pondered, a button appearing on screen with the text Continue Game inside of it. Immediately, she put her hand onto the button – no, into the monitor – allowing herself to be absorbed in through the monitor. Soon, the darkness overtook you as well.
“Hollow Knight, still haven’t 112 percented it yet, but I’m getting there,” Muxa explained as you walk alongside her through the underground area, going up through the lush gardens.
“Oh, wait,” she paused, glancing around. A gigantic mantis started pounding down on you and Muxa, but Muxa grabbed your hand and jumped out of the window and off into the blurry backdrop of the battle area.
“My bad, not sure how we ended up at the boss I still haven’t beaten yet just to actually progress in my own save… That’s not important,” Muxa rambled, running through the greenery. Eventually, you start falling down into a blocky world… except, you are not falling, you are flying. Well, Muxa – who had an elytra – still had your hand so you were technically flying, just your legs were dangled down freely above the blocky, snowscape beneath. You had no idea whether to panic or be calm about this scenario.
“Minecraft, been playing since 2012. This is an SMP I was on briefly, not sure if it still open to be honest,” Muxa told with a chuckle.
“There’s my house, it was a modded SMP so it looks a bit unique and not vanilla.” She pointed down to a house made up of some dull-colored wood and stone bricks. Loud meowing radiated from the building.
“I have many cats. The server had the Simply Cats mod. I love genetics especially cat genetics,” Muxa explained, “I once was on this different server with that mod before, and I had over 300 cats all in one chunk. It was pretty funny because no one could enter the chunk without lagging.”
You suddenly started falling down into the white, until it morphed and changed into an expansive cityscape. Muxa grabbed you to stand you up right onto an invisible platform. Panic swept over you as you realised you were levitating.
The view shifted to a household with a bunch of people walking around with gems floating above their head.
“Sims 3, best game ever. I don’t need to elaborate.” Muxa nodded, telling one of the sims to go to bed. You glanced over and saw the user interface, nodding because the sim’s sleep was incredibly low… yet she, for some reason, had not gone to bed yet.
“Only I’m allowed the bad sleep schedule smh.” Muxa shook her head, walking off of the platform. She grabbed you along with her, dragging you down into the abyss once more.
“We’ll be here all day and… let me check the time…” She summoned many clocks into the abyss space. 5:05 PM.
“Geez, guess we gotta hurry. I only have two hours left to introduce myself properly,” Muxa tutted, moving her hand up to her face in pondering.
You only wanted to know how long it would be until you would stop falling.
“I know, I know, let me figure this one out.” She shook her head, still deep in thought.

Waiting.

“Hobbies!” Muxa exclaimed, stepping down to land as you fell face first onto the ground. At least it didn’t hurt. Hey wait a minute- didn’t I mention I would do-
“Shush, person creating this elaborate introduction.” Muxa waved her hand at the bird plane that levitated above her head to give her the insight. It blasted off into the abyss. She waited for you to stand upright before she started walking forward into the darkness. You reluctantly followed her until you ended up back at the chair void with the corner of what you assumed to be part of Muxa’s room.
Muxa paused, stopping suddenly to grab a chair and sit down. Confusion was written all over her face. She rubbed her face to wipe it off before getting up to continue forward.
“Well, I guess we’ll just return to my gamer pad. We got too tilted it seems.” Muxa kicked a chair off into the abyss, sitting back down into her office chair. Tiger reappeared behind you, meowing incessantly.
“I enjoy drawing, I would insert a couple of drawings here… But uh, you could just check out my art on my Scratch profile as I put up art dumps instead of actual programs on this site,” she began, gesturing to her drawing tablet and to her black screen. Muxa turned back to her monitor with a frown.
“I use a Wacom Intuos Comic to draw,” Muxa explained her tablet. It was a rectangular plastic slab that was black and mint blue. The pen surface had small mint blue dots in rows and columns across. On the top of the tablet, there were two black pill-shaped buttons containing two separate buttons arranged at a diagonal in the corners.
Muxa suddenly smacked her hand onto the tablet, which comically enough was about the same size as the tablet.
“Mind you, this is a small, anyway pretty sick right?” She grinned, “me and this tablet are best buds of eleven years now.”
“Ignore the scratches on it though.” Muxa shot her head into your direction, staring into your eyes.
“Wait, this isn’t talking about hobbies… And we’re nearing the 5:30 mark!” She suddenly began freaking out, gesturing towards the time that said 5:24 PM in Comic Sans font that suddenly appeared on the screen.
“Other hobbies of mine are video editing, streaming, and computer programming,” Muxa quickly ran through the list, “the last one is pretty funny considering, well, is it still a hobby if you are pursuing it for a future career?!”
She suddenly turned to you.
“That’s right, I’m not even pursuing anything related to writing.”
Thoughts were injected into your mind like ‘why do you write then?’ or ‘what is the point?’, definitely not given to you by the one authoring this piece of introduction. I, too, question this every single day, but I am an enjoyer of the language arts and creative writing – even the computer language arts and creative writing. Computer programming could be poetry too you know!
Muxa squinted at the other Muxa across the room that was typing.
“Don’t listen to her,” she turned back to you.
“I am currently working on two programming related projects!” Muxa changed the topic like a coward, because she is a coward and refuses to address the elephant in the room. She turned back to the Muxa across the room that was now staring back at her, with an elephant right next to her.
“YOU.” She pointed, shouting to the Muxa across the room.
“Alright, that’s it-“

(disclaimer: this is not real.)

You blink the sponsorship out of your eyes to find a bookshelf before you.
“She has been dealt with,” Muxa said, emerging from the books. At this point, you were unphased by her antics because of the untamed chaos that had been unfolding before you had made you completely numb to what was happening.
“Anyway, now for something more fitting… Books. I don’t read a lot, which you may find shocking, but my favorite book series is the Guardians of Ga’Hoole book series by Kathryn Lasky. I grew up with a lot of other books like The Familiars tetralogy, Warrior Cats, as well as various mystery novel series. I was a huge fan of mystery novels as a kid, and I still do love to indulge in a bit of a mystery.” Her eyes glimmered as she presented a variety of books.
“Buuuut, I haven’t read a novel in a while. I mostly read fanfiction because it’s more easily accessible now. My favorite fanfiction are crossovers, and I also really enjoy fanfiction that rewrites stories with a twist to them. They’re pretty fun.”
“It’s really hard to find a good new novel to pick up and read. I love novels with fun characters, interesting plot and lore, fun worldbuilding, that is also something fantasy. Really hard to tick off these boxes… Especially since I’m not a huge fan of romance focus, which is prevalent in a lot of fiction. I just don’t have a lot of time now that I am in college,” Muxa rambled, putting the books back. She started walking past you.
“Don’t give me any suggestions now, we have one hour left. Not enough time to go through suggestions and pick something new to read,” Muxa laughed, gesturing up to the large clock on the ceiling that said 5:48 PM. The clock ticked audibly, causing Muxa to cringe and delete the clock.
“Hmmm… You know what, I think we will start wrapping up now.” Muxa pulled out wrapping paper, everything slowly fading to darkness as the world got wrapped up.
“What do I have planned for SWC this year?” Muxa, now a voice in the distance again, chuckled.
“Well… A lot of things. I plan on doing mostly dailies and weeklies this time and also using this as some motivation towards my main project. I have been working on this book series for the past eight years, and I still have yet to finish it. It all started in a dream where I was not myself and there was a world that sprawled before me, and ever since then I have been dreaming of that dream to become works on a page for more people to experience beyond myself. Will it be great? Probably not. Will it be good? I really don’t care at this point, I just want to tell my goofy story.”
The typing noises began again, with the same soft hum of distant music. Soon, you were back staring at your screen again reading this SWC introduction.
Heh. Well, I suppose we’ll conclude it here. I’m Muxa, and I am back here for my …th (I do not REMEMBER WHAT NUMBER I’M ON) return to SWC! The last time I showed up was back in 2022, which was a LONG TIME AGO, and I stopped showing up because I was unsure if I would have time since I had started college. But now I’m here! I’m back! We’ll see if I return in a future session. There’s still a lot I could have included into this introduction, but I wanted to make it really fun and write a sort of “story” (even if it is absolutely chaotic) out of me showing the reader/you various different things. I could have presented more, or spent more time with different things, but I think this is good enough!
I am looking forward to the rest of March. Maybe I should’ve written this like a screen play or something…

3/1 - 1334 words
“I met you in the yellow light of a sign that bore your name”

Hello there! I’m Wylan, yes like the Six of Crows character. It’s my favorite book, he’s my favorite character, and the name’s quite nice so I thought I’d steal it for myself. Because that’s obviously how names work. I’ve got a lot of names, actually. You tend to accumulate copious amounts of nicknames the longer you’re on the internet for, and I’ve been here for five years so, four nicknames. Yeah, that seems about right. I also go by Wilbur, Avian/Avi, and Rory! You can pick whatever name floats your boat, as I like them all. If you’re indecisive like I am, you can just call me Wil. Oh! Also my pronouns are it/they/he but im generally chill with anything.
If you’re beginning to notice a theme of “I can’t quite pick just one thing” you’re catching on quickly to my personality. I don’t do very well with decisions. For example, when asked my favorite book, I often need clarification. Do you mean my favorite book series or my favorite standalone book? Do short stories count? I have different answers for each category, as any normal human being would. My favorite series, as we’ve previously established, is Six of Crows. It’s a masterpiece, god is it a masterpiece. The characters, the setting, the plot, just everything is so perfect. Please read it if you haven’t, it’s amazing. My favorite standalone… well, I can’t pick one. A few weeks ago I would have told you The Girl Who Drank the Moon, a fabulous book that I’ve been rereading since I was 8. I love it to pieces. However, recently I read Solitaire by Alice Oseman and when I tell you I spent every waking moment thinking about that book you have to understand that I am only slightly hyperbolizing. It’s such a good book, Tori is an amazing character, I relate to her far too much, just, amazing.
Now, short stories. This is a can of worms that shouldn’t be opened. I should probably be given a shirt that says “Do Not Ask About Short Stories” and yet here we are. You cannot escape. The doors are locked. The windows are barred. You have to sit here and listen to me talk about dead white men. Several times as a very young child I read All Summer in A Day by Ray Bradbury. I think it was supposed to be in the curriculum to teach us about bullying? Or perhaps we simply read it because of who the author was. Neither of those things mattered to 7 year old Wil. Or modern-day Wil. What mattered to me was the worldbuilding, a completely normal thing for a 7 year old to be fascinated be. This short story affected me so deeply as a child that I am intending on making a story that takes place underground. I’m so intrigued by the idea of worlds that take place entirely underground. I want to know how they work, how they get water, how the electricity goes, are there any side-effects, are the depression rates up because of lack of sun, can you grow plants? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS. And Ray Bradbury did not answer any of them. Also I was sad every time I read the story because Margot wasn’t let out and William wasn’t punished. Justice did not, in fact, prevail, like I was told it was supposed to, and I am still upset about that.
“Wil”, you ask, “you’re only being slightly obnoxious about short stories. You’ve only talked about dead white man, singular.” Oh, my friend, I’m about to talk about dead white men, plural. My other favorite short story is Tell Tale Heart, by Edgar Allan Poe. If you take a quick jaunt over onto my profile page you’ll see a quote there, “true!— nervous— very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad?” This is from Tell Tale Heart. I am disappointed by this quote, not because I don’t like it, I love it, but because I would have liked to quote the entire story. That is how much I like this short story, I want people to come to my profile page and see not any information about me, just this wonderful work of fiction. And it is a wonderful work of fiction. I’ve always been wary of Poe’s work (I’m easily scared and The Raven scarred me as a child) but the style of this story is just so fascinating. I love how the narrator is constantly trying to justify that he’s not gone insane and that backfires on him in the end. And… not to spoil too much, but the title of the story is absolutely perfect. I can’t recommend it heavily enough. In fact, I’m so serious about my recommendation that I’m including a LINK, how wild! A link in my intro! Unprecedented!
Now that you know about my deep fascination with the written word, you should probably know a bit more about me. I, like a lot of people, have hobbies. I enjoy drawing, hiking, making bracelets, reading, and writing (obviously). I also fence foil, though I’m not very good. I’ve also got interests!! I’m really into dogs, linguistics, grammar, history, space, plants, and trivia (as in random facts). Did you know that Julia Child worked for the CIA? Or that in Britain they don’t sell Dasani? Well now you do! I have a dog of my own, his name is Max, he’s a Great Dane/Pit Bull mix and he’s 10 years old. He’s the sweetest thing ever and I love him so much. If anyone’s actually read this far and wants a picture of him just ask! I’ve got loads.
It’s time for the Miscellaneous Facts About Me portion of the program! This is where I feel you’ll truly get a good grasp on who I am, if you didn’t from my semi-crazed rant about Tell Tale Heart.
— My favorite TV show is Joe Pera Talks With You, please go watch it. The show feels like a bowl of warm soup, it’s also funny. This is the best pitch I can give, just trust me on this.
— I’d like to be a comedy writer or an author as an adult
— My favorite color is blue
— I’m vegetarian and lactose intolerant, so vegan on a bad day
— I enjoy complaining immensely. This is the only positive side effect of my chronic migraines and stomach pain.
— My favorite punctuation mark is the comma, if you don’t believe in Oxford commas then I don’t believe in you.
— I really like Hermitcraft!! I watch Mumbo Jumbo, Geminitay, Pearlescentmoon, and Zombiecleo
— I’m Jewish <3
— My favorite band is The Crane Wives (I love them so much please talk to me about them). I also really like Chappell Roan and Good Kid!
— My favorite comedian is Taylor Tomlinson, I write this knowing full well I am the only SWCer writing about their favorite comedian. To push myself even further from the crowd, I also like Gilbert Gottfried.
— Despite having listed several favorites here, I actually find picking favorites to be a stressful task because I like so many things.
— My rapper name is ‘lil stitious. Because I’m not superstitious, just a little sititous.
— It’s generally agreed upon by myself and most of the people I’m close with that I’m actually a middle aged man trapped in a teenager’s body. Not in a weird way, in a, I have an “old soul” (I hate that expression) way.
— My birthday is March 28th
It seems to me I’ve run out of things to say about myself, and I don’t think you want to hear me talk about books again. I suppose I’ll let you go. Watch your step, I lowered the lintel so tall people have to duck! They have far too many advantages, we have to keep it even.

1k intro!! i actually had thought of the cottage intro before i saw the other part of the daily but hey it fits haha

You peer around the trunk of an old, gnarled tree and see…

A cottage? You've never seen it before. That's odd.

It looks like a real life daisy cottage–gently twinkling lights, flowers, mushrooms, the whole deal. It looks bright and inviting. It is rather chilly today. Surely it wouldn't hurt just to see who lived there…

You knock and a brown haired girl opens it. She's a bit tall, you suppose, with glasses; you can't really tell what color here eyes are–gray? blue? Examining eyes color isn't important, though (I mean, really–she probably can't even tell if they're gray or blue herself.). The cottage has posters hung up all over the walls and you can't even count the number of books on that bookshelf in the corner. The room is brightly lit by a fireplace, making it seem perfect for a chilly winter day.

“Oh, hello there,” the girl says. “Why don't you come in and have a cup of tea, and I'll tell you why I'm here in this cottage like I'm sure you're wondering. Shall I?”

❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀

Hello, hello! I'm Natt (or Alex–either one!) and I use she/they pronouns. I'm your local bi-writer-bookworm-artist-fangirl extraordinaire who will be very impressed if you actually read all of this :zany:

Anyways, I'm (kind of obviously–I mean, I am in SWC after all!) a writer! I usually write short fantasy or sci-fi stories, but I'm also an amateur poetry writer. This will be my third SWC session, with my first being July 24 in sci-fi and my second in November 24 in paranormal. This session, I'm in the wonderful incredible amazinglicous ✨✨ myth ✨✨

I've been writing for years–it's always been something I enjoy–but in the past two years I've really started doing more of it (mostly because of SWC ).

Anyways, moving on to the bibliophile part of me ✨✨ (be prepared for ramblings about various series. you have been warned) I have many, many favorite series and I physically cannot choose a single favorite, sooooooo…

You get to read my entire list of them!! Yayyy!! (aren't you excited?)

So: the list (and yes you should read all of these because they are amazing): PJO+, KOTLC, TMR, Lockwood and Co, and I swear there's at least two more but I can't remember them right now so I guess you're getting the abridged version after all

And now fooooooor…. NATT R̶A̶M̶B̶L̶E̶S̶ ̶A̶B̶O̶U̶T̶ ̶A̶L̶L̶ ̶O̶F̶ ̶T̶H̶E̶M̶ TRIES TO CONVINCE YOU TO READ THEM ✨✨

Our first contestant: PJO!
First of alll: Greek mythology. Any Greek mythology geek has to read Percy Jackson. It's basically a rite of passage.
Second of all: shipping galore. Both the character kind and also the actual boat kind if you're into that, I don't know?

Next up: KOTLC!
Elves. Magic. Magical fantasy land. UNICORNS AND GIANT PUFF BALL ANIMALS. ✨SUSPENCE AND PERIL AND DANGER ✨✨✨✨✨
(and also sokeefe. iykyk)

Neeeeeext…TMR!
So basically these teenagers get sent into this maze and they have to escape. And yes this *probably* doesn't sound very interesting but I promise it is actually really cool I just don't want to spoil anything–

And finally, the incredible amazing glorious LOCKWOOD AND CO <3333
Okay so I lied. This might actually be my top favorite. It's just so GOOD AND AKSJDHJAKSLDJFHAHJAFJ I LOVE IT <33 it's about a ghost hunting agency turn by these three teens, Lucy, Lockwood, and George and there's also a very awesome very cool ship that is locklyle and aksjdhjakdh they're so sweet to each other and i love it and did i mention that I love this series?
(you should read it i need someone to ramble to about it :zany

I'm also a big fan of musicals! I haven't seen very many, but my favorites are EPIC and Hamilton. and of course we love our pancake polites <3
(side note but i was actually listening to epic was i was writing this haha)

I'm running out of how to creatively introduce new topics about me so: Academic Team! It's basically a quiz bowl team–we compete in teams of four with other schools at the league matches and then at District (and on to Regionals and State if we advance). We also have written assessments at the competitions, and I do quick recall (the quiz bowl part) and the ELA and math written assessments. I advanced from Regionals in ELA which means that I'm going to the State competition around the middle of March! I'm the youngest on my team to be advancing so I'm very excited for it DD I doubt I'll *actually* get in the top 10 in the entire state, but it'll still be really fun!

okay 200 words left, i am not used to telling this much about myself i need to think of something else to yap about twt

Okay we're doing music I guess? I kind of already did this with musicals but whatever–

To be honest I don't have a lot of artists where I listen to more than maybe 3 of their songs, buuut the lucky few who I do listen to regularly are JVKE, Taylor Swift, and then also EPIC The Musical and Hamilton I also like artists like MICO, Fleurie, and Chappell Roan but I son't know a ton of their songs.
OH AND ALSO I haven't *yet*, but I'm planning on watching Newsies and Into the Woods soon since they're both on Disney+! I think I'll (hopefully) like them–they both seem pretty interesting and I know Newsies is supposed to be really good, so I have high hopes for it in particular

I STILL HAVE 100 WORDS LEFT. SCREECH

Alright! Uh–shows I like, I guess? I don't know I'm running out of ideas :sob:
I've seen pretty much every Star Wars shows (and by that I mean all the live action ones and the main three animated). The Bad Batch is and always will be my absolute favorite because I am a sucker for the found family trope and why have one space dad when you can have 5? (well. really four. rip you-know-who-if-you've-seen-the-show </3) but Ahsoka is a close second.

i literally have nothing else to talk about :sob:

❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀

“Well–that's about it. It's getting a bit late. Should you be heading home?”

It had gotten late, you noticed; the sun had begun to set and the fireplace had burned to only a few small flickering flames. You probably should be heading back to your cabin, actually. You stand up and thank her for the tea.

Sophie's March 2025 Writing! (SCI-FI)

DAILIES

3/1/25 - intro (1022 words) + reimagining it as a place (237 words)

Hello! My name is Sophie and my pronouns are she/they. I'm in the central time zone, and I've participated in SWC before (to be completely honest, I'm not sure how many times - I've forgotten; but I have co-led multiple times (again, I'm too lazy to go check how many times but I think it was two? I don't really know and it's not that important so I'm not going to go check)).

I have a lot of hobbies and interests, and in my free time (other than writing) I enjoy reading and listening to music. I just finished reading The Great Gatsby (for school) and I'm currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and a book about Russia just for funsies. I prefer reading fantasy, mystery, and adventure/action, but I'll honestly read most fiction. Lately I've also been liking nonfiction history books; not really sure why. I prefer to write train of thought ramblings and fictional stories, especially in the fantasy genre. I listen to all sorts of music, including but not limited to songs from musicals, alternative, rock, indie, and pop. I tend to find an artist or song that I like and listen to it obsessively for a while until I get tired of it, so my favourite artists tend to vary a little bit. I also have a ton of Spotify playlists, which I suppose could be considered a fun fact about me. I always love talking about books, musicals, and music, so feel free to talk to me about any of the above! Some of my favourite musicals at the moment are Hamilton, Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, and more!

I'm also on my school's robotics team, which is pretty fun. I started quiz bowl this year, and I study mainly geography and history, and I honestly dedicate a fair portion of my time to studying for quiz bowl since I just find that super fun. If anyone has any tips for studying for quiz bowl though, that would be greatly appreciated - right now I just do searching rabbit holes, looking at class history notes, playing online, etc., but if there are other tips I'd love those too! I also do Model UN and I do lots of volunteering with my local animal shelter, like walking the animals there.

I've been a figure skater on and off for a while now, but continuously since probably around 2021. I love spending time at various rinks around the city that I live in, and it's so fun. I'd say I spend anywhere from 1-4 hours practicing most days, though I usually try to take at least one day off per week, maybe less, maybe more, depending on schoolwork, et cetera. I also used to do ice dance, so I know a bit about that too. I hope I'll be able to start that again sometime soon as well. I enjoy watching skating as well (even like pairs and dance and mens) so I'm always happy to yap about either skating as in like doing the sport but also watching skating! (Please talk to me about skating I love talking about skating lol) I don't have as many favourite female singles figure skaters since I think I'm more appreciative of the discipline (since it's the one I do as well), so they're all my favourites haha. I do really like Kamila Valieva's skating though, despite controversies about it - I just think it looks so beautiful and graceful! I also find Amber Glenn's, Alysia Liu's, and Jia Shin's skating really pretty. I'm sure there are more too I just can't think right now. For men's skating, I really like Lucas Broussard's, Francois Pitot's, and Adam Siao Him Fa's skating. There are also probably more skaters that I enjoy watching I just don't think my brain wants to cooperate with me right now. My favourite pair skaters are Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea (they seem so nice too!) or Lydia Smart and Harry Mattick - I'm not sure what it is, but their skating is just so pretty! Then I'd say the discipline where I have the most concrete favourites would be ice dance, where my favourite couple that still competes is Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, because their skating just has such an energy to it that I don't really see with anyone else. I also love Gabriella Papadakis' skating - I saw her perform live one time and it was absolutely breathtaking; plus the fact that she's working to push the boundaries of the sport with Madison Hubbell is so awesome to me. In summary, yapping about figure skating = yes.

Since I still have a bit more to write before I make it to one thousand words, I suppose I will continue to give more random information out about myself. I love learning languages, and I've been speaking French since I was little. I take French right now in school, though I've taken Spanish a bit in the past and will likely also take it next year. I'm also trying to self-study languages like Japanese, Italian, German, and Russian (I chose Italian mainly because I'm basically over halfway there since I can speak enough French and Spanish to kind of work my way around the language lol - I mean, if it works, it works, am I right?). I also really like traveling and just exploring the world, as well as learning about different cultures, lifestyles, and traditions (and food! I feel like the United States has one of the most overall “boring” foods that are actually American, since most of our foods are just borrowed and altered from other cultures. Although I will say that our mixture of cultures makes it fairly easy to find all types of foods from all different cuisines from all around the world, which is nice (although it's not always the most authentic lolol).

Anyways, since that is around one thousand words, I will stop yapping about myself for today, since no one likely even wants to read all of this information about me haha. Bye!

~~~~~~~~
(reimagined as a place)
If my figure skating were a place, it would be a frozen kingdom in the mountains. The mountains would be interspersed with small to medium-sized frozen lakes, that you could skate on. All the buildings would be shaped like skates, or they would be frozen, twisty spires, rising through the sky. There would be white and blue buildings built into the side of the mountain, many of which would have things like ice rinks, skating gear, or warm, cozy rooms with fireplaces and mugs of hot cocoa to warm up from the chilly outdoor weather. You would be able to do different elements on different lakes, which would be named after what you were allowed to do there (like program pond, or lutz lake). That way, it would be harder to run into other people since everyone is doing the same thing, and the ice would also be less damaged when you're trying to do more delicate footwork. The entire kingdom would be in pretty shades of icy white and blue, with the occasional row of more brightly coloured buildings, or wooden cabins. Much of kingdom would be fairly deserted, rather than being industrialized. There would be certain areas where you can socialize, and others where people practice to be left alone. It would often be snowy, and the kingdom would have the most gorgeous, long sunsets and sunrises in order to have the most picturesque practices.
3/2/25 - story using five words (324 words)
words used: demon, sunrise, ink, clouds, violin (provided by @TokoWrites)
Ghostly violin notes drifted through the sky as the sun pushed its way through the clouds. The sunrises used to be beautiful, now they were gray smoke drifting upwards in wispy tendrils. A loud crash echoed across the vast emptiness as the ink jar shattered on the floor, blotting the world out black. The sky turned inside out, and the world restarted again.
This keeps happening, and you don't know why. Not that it matters, you're the only one left anyways. You'll deal with it. The smoke cleared again, thinning just enough for you to push your way through, grasping for some hold to reality. You grab onto a rock, the rough edges jabbing into your hands. You don't even notice the sharp, stabbing pain, though; you're too tired to notice, too tired to care.
Beams of red appear through the dark shadows of fog, lasers of red light. You push closer through the thick, misty fog. This is new. Suddenly, a figure jumps at you, a snarling mass of gray, yet another gray part of the world.
It's a demon.
You'd been warned of these when you were little, but that was before. Before everyone was gone, before you were the only one left, as far as you knew. You thought it was simply a tale to keep children at home at night. Plus, you had never seen one before. But apparently it was real now-perhaps a product of this twisted reality; perhaps something that had always been, lurking in the shadows, hiding and waiting for the perfect time to attack. Maybe this is where everyone went. Maybe the demon appeared from the emptiness. Who knows.
You are abruptly jolted back to reality from your musings as you remember that a demon is currently attacking you. But you retreat to your thoughts once more, realizing that there is nothing you can do, other than accept your fate as everything fades away to darkness.
3/3/25 - portmanteau (377 words)
words used: goldfish and soap (@zparkly)
Have you ever felt like your goldfish was just so incredibly dirty? Like no matter what you tried, your goldfish just simply refused to stay clean? Well, that's an issue that many of us have encountered. Fear not, though, for now there is the world's latest, trendiest new invention: Goldfshoap(TM) (pronounced goh-ld-f-show-p)! With this invention, you can save yourself hours of pointless attempts to clean your goldfish (trust us, we've tried - it won't work, no matter how long you try). Now, you might be thinking: what's the point of soap, especially soap for your goldfish, if it's not ACTUALLY shaped like a goldfish? Don't worry; we've got you covered - we've thought of absolutely everything. Not only is Goldfshoap(TM) the most effective goldfish-cleaning soap on the market, but it is also shaped like an actual, real goldfish (we've made sure to pay close attention to detail, of course). You can choose one of several colours for your Goldfshoap(TM), so that it can best match YOUR goldfish!
Goldfshoap has been found to be the most effective soap on the market by all the major reviewers in the business, and nine out of ten veterinarians would recommend Goldfshoap for your goldfish. And if you've never considered washing your goldfish; now's the time. You wouldn't spend your entire life without cleaning yourself a single time, so why would you force such a thing on your goldfish? Studies have shown that only forty three percent of goldfish owners were previously aware that they needed to be cleaning their goldfish regularly. So, one of Goldfshoap(TM)'s missions is to promote goldfish cleanliness around the world, and to bring this pressing issue to light. We also use all natural products in our soap, using algae extract to scent our soap, giving the goldfish a luxurious taste of home. We use all-natural dyes, so that your goldfish can have the most pleasant soap experience, and feel perfectly clean and ready to tackle the day.
For only 499.99, you can buy your first Goldfshoap(TM) product today, and leave your goldfish feeling happier and healthier (and cleaner!) than ever before! Trust us, your goldfish will be thanking you a million times over. It's worth the time and the effort.
fantasy (187 words)
watch us as we defy gravity
in our wicked cabin -
or should we say, cabin of depravity
where even the magical could happen
we are fantasy, the land of your dreams
where anything is possible, no matter how impossible it seems
with the power of our pens
we imagine worlds by the tens
just for this third month of twenty twenty five
we live in a cabin of illusion
where our writing can truly thrive
until the month ends, perhaps too soon
we are fantasy, the land of your dreams
where anything is possible, no matter how impossible it seems
with the power of our pens
we imagine worlds by the tens
fantastical worlds, mythical beings
fairies bearing iridescent wings
anything is possible in the fantastical realms
under the branches of extraordinary elms
we are fantasy, the land of your dreams
where anything is possible, no matter how impossible it seems
with the power of our pens
we imagine worlds by the tens
our power to create
our power to believe
will lead us to our truest fate
that of victory, for which we will be relieved
adventure (184 words)
an accident, we once encountered
but we'll hold out strong,
our strength, no, it never floundered,
we never once thought we could be wrong
adventure is superior
all the other cabins are inferior
our resilience will guide us to victory
and from the mountains, we will finally be free
though we may not yet know where we are
our curiosity keeps us going
holding out hope like wishing on a star
our stamina is better than a Boeing
adventure is superior
all the other cabins are inferior
our resilience will guide us to victory
and from the mountains, we will finally be free
about our adventurousness we shall not brag
but perhaps brag, in fact, we will
because we have this session in the bag
though it is the fourth of march still
adventure is superior
all the other cabins are inferior
our resilience will guide us to victory
and from the mountains, we will finally be free
this session we will win
with our adventurous tales
that recount our victories with a grin
for we love to explore victory and what that entails
3/6/25 - constellations (782 words)
Though you may have never heard of the constellation Crux (sometimes also written as Cru or Cruc), you have likely heard of the Southern Cross. If that name still does not ring a bell for you, perhaps you’ve seen the flags of Papua New Guinea or Samoa. Still no? What about the flag of Brazil? Or, where it is more visible, the flags of Australia and New Zealand? If you still haven’t seen any of these flags, then to be completely honest, I don’t think I can help you. If you have, though, then you have seen the Southern Cross, or Crux constellation at some point in your life.
In the year 1516, the Italian explorer Andreas Corsali, who worked under Giuliano di Lorenzo de’ Medici of Florence and Lorenzo II de’ Medici, duke of Urbino, was the first European to ‘discover’, describe, and draw the Crux constellation, while on a trip from Lisbon to India. Corsali was also famous for his voyage to Asia and the south seas (on a Portuguese ship), and for the accounts of his journeys. He had two of his letters from what was at the time referred to as the East Indies published in Florence, as well as in Giovanni Battista Ramusio’s Delle Navigationi et Viaggi in 1550. He is also famous for noting that Sumatra and Sri Lanka were two separate islands (they were once both believed to be the same island, which was known as Taprobane), identifying New Guinea for Italians, and hypothesizing that Australia existed.
The Crux constellation is located at the southern part of the visible band of the Milky Way, and is only ever visible past south of around thirty degrees north (latitude). However, even as late as 4000 BC, they were visible even in Britain. The precession of equinoxes caused the constellation to move below European skies, leading Crux to be forgotten by those in northern latitudes. By the year 400 AD, Crux never rose above the horizon in Europe. In tropical areas, the Southern Cross is seen from the month of April to the month of June. The constellation is directly opposite Cassiopeia, so the two can never appear in the sky at the same time. Currently, in towns south of the thirty fourth parallel south, Crux is considered circumpolar (meaning it appears in the sky year-round). The brightest star in the constellation is Acrux, which is also the twelfth brightest star in the night sky.
The Southern Cross contains the Coalsack Nebula (which was also sometimes referred to as Magellan’s Spot), a dark nebula visible to the bare (original word redacted) eye. In Incan astronomy, the nebula was called Yutu or Tinamou, named after a South American bird. In Australian Aboriginal astronomy, the Coalsack represents part of the head of the Emu in the Sky. The Wardaman Aboriginals, on the other hand, see it as the head and shoulders of a law man who supervises the people to enforce traditional law. In a legend, the law man is referred to as Utdjungon.
Despite being the smallest of the eighty eight modern constellations, covering sixty eight square degrees, or 0.165% of the night sky, its four main stars have an apparent visual magnitude brighter than +2.8, making the constellation quite visible in the sky and making it the subject of numerous myths and giving it significant cultural relevance throughout the Southern Hemisphere. The brightest star in the constellation is Acrux, which is also the twelfth brightest star in the night sky. Thanks to its brightness, Crux was also used as a celestial landmark for explorers and travelers in the Southern Hemisphere, which likely further contributed to the constellation’s cultural significance.
Crux was known to the Ancient Greeks, and Ptolemy believed it was a part of the rear legs of the constellation Centaurus. In Dante’s Divine Comedy (written in the 14th century), he describes four bright stars in the southern sky, which could have been a reference to the Crux, though it could merely have been a coincidence. Joao Faras is usually believed to be the first European to correctly draw the Crux constellation, which he sketched and described in May 1500 (in Brazil) in a letter to the Portuguese monarch, though he referred to it as “las guardas”. Emery Molyneux and Petrus Plancius are considered the first uranographers, or mappers of the sky, to distinguish the Southern Cross as its own constellation, in the year 1592. However, they both misplaced the constellation in their gloves. In 1598 and 1600, it was correctly placed by Petrus Plancius and Jodocus Hondius. It was first considered separate from Centaurus in 1603. In 1930, the Belgian astronomer Eugene Delporte set the official constellation boundaries.
3/8/25 - International Women's Day Letter (419 words)
Dear (name redacted for privacy),
Happy International Women's Day! You're one of the people I Iook up to the most in my life. Thank you for being such an enormous source of inspiration for me. Your constant support is so amazing; I know I can always count on you, whether I need help choosing an outfit or need an adult to sign off on the reliability of my actions. Thank you for always being the one to agree to go skate with me, no matter the time of the session or how far away it is. I admire your incredible resilience and ability to face any challenge with your infectious joy. Your constant happiness and just overall joy of living despite any challenge life may throw your way is something I aspire to be able to have. You treat everything like a fun game (in the best way possible, by no means is this an insult) and you approach everything with such a positive mindset; it's honestly incredible. And from you, I have learned so much, especially just about life in general. Your past life experiences, I think, have provided you with so much understanding and knowledge of life, and I think that that is a very powerful tool to have in life. You have shown me that you do not have to have everything figured out, or have every single detail of your life planned to the second. Though things sometimes may not always go your way, you always figure it out. Plus, your chattiness, friendliness, and lack of fear inspire me so, so much. Not many people in this world can just go up to a random stranger and tell them their entire life story, without fear or hesitation. I think that you are one of those very few people, and I admire that. Your chattiness has allowed you so many amazing, incredible opportunities in life, like getting that shirt for free. I look up to you and aspire to have that same level of bravery as you do, in that sense and in so many others. Please, never stop talking about everything in your life– it's so fascinating, and I learn so much, and because of that, you serve as a beacon of light in so, so many people's lives. Never forget how much of a difference you have made on so many people's lives, of how you have pushed through despite so, so many difficulties. Thank you for being such an amazing friend and role model.
Sincerely,
Sophie
3/10/25 - picture description (based off of sleep - 8 hours) (403 words)
Moments, so small, so fleeting. What, truly, makes a moment? A second, something that we may only see once, or something that we may see many times, perhaps every day. But would each of these truly be the same moment? Or would they each be different? Nothing is ever the same. So, what is a photo? Consider the chances of this perfect moment being captured, of the clouds in that exact position, with the sun perfectly slotted through the center of the tree. Consider the redness of the sky, the perfect level of the waves, rippling out in the reflection of the sun. The moment had to be captured at the perfect time. Perhaps it was taken on a whim. Perhaps the photo took weeks, months, years, even, of planning. Of sad evenings waiting for the perfect moment to never come. Until that day. Perhaps it was the result of many, many failures, or perhaps not failures, but simply less preferred, less ideal instances of the image, with the photographer returning each evening in hopes of finding perfection, and yet never quite reaching it. Perhaps it was a spur of the moment, taken with a regular camera during a moment enjoyed among friends. Perhaps the location is in an area that is hard to reach, so the photographer knew that they would only have a minute, if not less (perhaps even seconds) to capture this perfect image. Maybe they knew it would be their only chance, that their would be no do-overs. Maybe they knew that they would have this opportunity, and this opportunity only, to capture the fiery reds as the sun began its journey below the horizon. Or did the nature know it was being photographed? Perhaps it decided to pose for the photographer in a sense, the sun making an agreement with the tree, with the water, with the clouds, to make a beautiful image so that it could look pretty and feel pretty. I mean, how else could you explain the perfect alignment of the sun and the tree, the beautiful symmetry of the water as it flowed in a v around the tree, the perfect, slanted texture of the breathtaking clouds. How could one replicate such a scene? It is truly a beauty of nature, a once-in-a-lifetime scene. And how could one replicate that beautiful silence, that delicate emptiness of the photo? The mysteries of life are beautiful.
3/11/25 - fairy tale rewritten (719 words)
Having finished all her chores, Cinderella eagerly prepared herself to attend the ball. Maybe she'd even get to meet the prince! That would be a dream for her. She raced upstairs to her stepsisters and stepmother, excited to tell them that she had finished her work early enough to be able to join them at the ball. When she made it up the stairs, though, they all just stared at her disdainfully.
“What do you want, Cinderella?” her stepmother spat harshly, “Shouldn't you be cleaning?”
“Well- I- I finished cleaning, so, uh, well, I thought that maybe… perhaps… you might let me go to the ball with you…?” Cinderella's voice trailed off tentatively. She could already sense their response, though.
“ABSOLUTELY not!” cried one stepsister.
“Yeah, she'll ruin it for us! And look at those ugly clothes,” the other continued.
“Your stepsisters are right, Cinderella. You cannot go to the ball, certainly not looking like THAT!” her stepmother declared, enunciating each syllable, her spit flying everywhere with each consonant she uttered.
“But-” Cinderella began to protest.
“Whoops!” one of Cinderella's stepsisters announced as she knocked over a flowerpot. “Now you have something to clean!” she giggled.
Cinderella sighed, then knelt down to begin cleaning, watching defeatedly as her stepmother and stepsisters bounced giddily down the grand, ornamented staircase, heading to the ball.
She looked to the ceiling. It was honestly just unfair to her. Her stepsisters got everything, and she got nothing. Purely nothing. She wished that she could have a win, even just this once, and she would stop complaining. She begged to the universe beyond, hoping perhaps for a stroke of luck.
Out of nowhere, there was a /pop/, a crash, a BANG, and smoke filled the room.
Waving her hand in front of her face to clear the fog, Cinderella peered around the room, hoping to find the source of the noise. A snap sounded, and suddenly the thick smoke cleared the room in an instant.
Cinderella had to blink twice to make sure her eyes were not deceiving her. Nope, the scene seemed to be very real. Before her stood a giant… cow? This had to be some sort of a fever dream, Cinderella thought to herself.
The cow moved very loudly, then appeared to… cough? By this point, Cinderella was beyond confused. The cow seemed to be clearing its throat, which would of course be absurd because why would a cow want to do that?
“That's better!” the cow announced. Cinderella nearly fainted in shock.
“I- I'm sorry. Did- did you just… SPEAK?” she asked incredulously.
“Why of course I did; what do you take me for, an idi0t?” the cow replied. Cinderella took a step backwards, her mind reeling. This was far too much information to absorb at once, she was experiencing a slight bit of shock (reasonably so).
“Did you not request help?” the cow continued, as though nothing had happened, as though Cinderella were not on the verge of an existential crisis. She nodded fearfully and uncertainly, still evidently in shock.
“Well, I'm here to help you. You wanted to go to this ball, right?” Cinderella nodded once again, her brain not quite ready to form any words yet - it was still trying to recover from the shock. “Well, it looks like you might need some transportation, and an outfit. We can't have you going to the ball in THAT, now, can we?” the cow asked with a tsk-tsk. The cow looked upwards pensively. Then, with a stomp and a tap, sparkles appeared, followed by a flash, and, all of a sudden, a gorgeous ball gown appeared - a soft, iridescent blue with a billowy tulle skirt that flowed outwards in a sea of fabric. Cinderella gasped at the sight of the dress. There was another flash, and suddenly she was wearing the gown. She stared down rather disbelievingly. The cow stomped again, and delicate glass heels appeared on Cinderella's feet. Cinderella could do nothing but blink and stare at the cow, mouth agape. To be completely honest, she had no idea what was going on.
“Now, let's get you outside, and into a carriage.” the cow announced matter-of-factly. Cinderella stumbled along dazedly behind the cow; she would later recall that the scene felt entirely unreal, like a figment of her imagination.
3/12/25 - main cabin title (406 words)
title (from @–Artsy_Girl–): Duolingo's Villain Arc (Spanish or Vanish)
Spanish or vanish. We've all seen the notification pop up, just minutes before midnight. We frantically open the app, sweat rolling down our faces, pressing buttons and hoping desperately for the little “ka-ching” noise of a correct response, for the fanfare announcing a completed lesson. But why do we feel this terror at not having completed our lesson? Well, that would be because of the thr3atening, lime-coloured owl, Duo. Where, though, many wonder, did his thr3atening nature come from?
Well, Duo was once a regular owl. A regular owl, that is, until he fell into a vat of neon, radioactive liquid as a small owlet. The radioactive material provided him with supernatural powers; the powers of speech. He uttered his first words (at least those intelligible to the human ear) at the young age of 12, back in the year 988 B.C. Ever since that day, he dedicated his life to learning the remaining languages of the world, becoming fluent in all existing languages by the twenty first century (A.D.). However, Duo felt a bitter resentment at the lack of effort on the part of everyone else to learn other nations' languages. Humans mocked him for centuries, not only because he was a talking, green, owl, but also because he found languages interesting. Owls mocked him because he was no longer truly one of them – he was seemingly immortal (or has at least lived for an exceedingly long period of time), and he had the ability that none of the others had - the ability to communicate with humans. As a result, Duo never truly felt like he belonged anywhere, left out from all sense of family, friendship, and belonging. His previous friends and family abandoned and disowned him, claiming that he was no longer one of them. Duo spent centuries wallowing in bitter resentment whilst increasing his linguistical prowess, so by the time the internet was created, he felt prepared. He leaped at his chance to create a language learning app, to finally force his talent on those who had mocked him before. He used k1dnappings, thr3ats, and bribes to lure the foolish, naive humans into his trap, and thus began the true evil of Duo the neon language owl as we know him today. Duo did not become a villain of his own volition; his evil side was rather created by centuries of human and owl h8te and mockery.
WEEKLIES
weekly 1 - worldbuilding (1896 words total)
Part 1: language + culture (436 words)
The people of Blorbia live in peaceful harmony with one another, and they believe in coexistence and acceptance of everyone, which are the core beliefs of their society. They celebrate holidays like Blorbian Friendship Day (celebrated on April 24th each year), which celebrates the friendships between all Blorbians, since everyone in Blorbia considers each other to be a friend, and National Neighbour Week. National Neighbour Week brings neighbourhoods together through community-based and community-building events, like neighbourhood barbecues, collective games, oudoors and indoors, and more. They also celebrate The Day of the Blorbs in November, where they simply exist as Blorbs and do absolutely nothing except be a Blorb (it's a bit complicated). There is little to no social hierarchy, with elders meriting slightly more respect than the youth. However, overall, everyone is treated as an equal, with their opinions and ideas valued equally. Everyone in Blorbia (aside from the children) makes the same amount of money, and it's essentially a direct democracy (at least, according to Google, that's what it's called) with anarchical aspects (in that there are few rules, even those created by the people, other than the respect of others and the emphasis on kindness, teamwork, and community. Also, in Blorbia, it is illegal to not use the Oxford comma when writing or typing. The Blorbians also have a tradition of cooking their favourite food on the last day of National Neighbour Week. On this day, Blorbians spend all day preparing the largest building in the town for the final celebration of the week. Blorbians bring their favourite food, which they have made, to share with others at the annual National Neighbour Week Culminating Potluck (it's a very important aspect of their society and culture, arguably the most significant and exciting moment of the year). The only moments of overall unhappiness occur in the nation when the Blorbians get into disputes with their neighbouring nation, Florpia. The Florpians are an overall hostile people, and have a strong tendency to try to come into conflict with their neighbours, which is rather unfortunate for the peaceful Blorbians. However, it is Blorbian culture and tradition to attempt to handle these disputes without starting a major conflict. Some may describe the Blorbians as people-pleasers, which is rather possible; no one knows for sure. Overall, though, the Blorbians tend to keep to themselves - while they are not against including neighbouring nations in their festivities in principle, these nations have a tendency to receive these invitations with hostility, taking the Blorbians' kindness and peacefulness for weakness. Perhaps the Blorbians are weak, but perhaps they are truly the strongest of all.
Part 2: geography (106 words)
Friendly Forest: This forest is a key gathering point in Blorbia, and many meetings and events are organized there.
Mount Blorbia: Climbing this peak is considered a key point in maturation, and all students prepare for and are expected to climb it upon their graduation. This mountain is part of the Happy Range and overlooks the Friendly Forest, and can shapeshift.
Third slide (mislabelled as national neighbour week): this slide shows the locations associated with National Neighbour week, including a neighbourhood (most neighbourhoods in Blorbia look similar), and the building and table in which the potluck is held (plus some examples of food and a barbecue).
Part 3: technology (532 words)
Recently (around 4 months ago), Blorbians began making significant technological advancements, discovering futuristic technologies previously thought uncreatable. The first of these discoveries was that of shape shifting technologies. Since Mount Blorbia could always change its shape, the idea of shape shifting was something that had always fascinated the Blorbians. However, it was commonly accepted as a bad idea to interfere with such a technology, as it was deemed a force of nature that should not be meddled with. Plus, many thought that it would be too difficult, and chose to instead concentrate their efforts elsewhere. However, one man, Blorbus Blorbman the Third (almost all native Blorbians have Blorb mentioned at least once in their name), decided to take matters into his own hands and investigate this technology. Precisely four months ago, he achieved the impossible and created a preliminary prototype for shapeshifting technology. However, he has since been barred from continuing by popular vote due to the aforementioned fear of meddling with natural affairs. As a result, this technology has stalled, although there are murmured rumors of attempts to continue Blorbman's work in secret. However, these rumors have yet to have been confirmed. Blorbman's experiments spurred a wave of attempts, both successful and unsuccessful, at technological advancements. For instance, Blerb Borblorb, Blorbia's most well known and most celebrated female scientist, began investigating climate impact. She has since concentrated her research to finding ways to lessen Blorbia's effect on global warming. However, the past technological advancements that not everyone agrees with Blorbia's policies of kindness and respect, and this has continued to show with protesters outwardly expressing their dissent at Borblorb's actions (no one actually knows why these protesters dislike her actions; it is generally assumed that they just dislike Blerb for whatever reason, which does also go against Blorbia's core values of appreciating all. Investigations of these protesters are currently underway for failure to follow Blorbia's few rules. They may be banned soon, if tracked down and confirmed). Fergus Blorbson has also reportedly begun research into time travel and time machines, using the shape shifting technologies created by Blorbman. Word around Blorbia is that Blorbson aims to have a functional time machine built within the next three years, and that he will build and test it entirely by himself, with only the help of his beloved Blorb-dog, Borgus Blorbgus. However, like in the case of Blorbman's shape shifting technology, many feel uncomfortable with and dislike Blorbson (and Blorbgus)'s efforts. Blorbians tend to believe that, like shape shifting, time is something that should only be determined by nature. If Blorbians attempt to intervene in such affairs, many fear that this will lead to disaster, destruction, and ruin. Plus, many have expressed concerns at Blorbson's access to such technologies, and wonder why he would be allowed sole responsibility of such an important task. They fear the power that this might allow him to wield, which would also potentially upset the delicate balance of equal powers between all, and equal income. Overall, the issues of the technologies concern an overwhelming majority of Blorbians, who fear for their safety if their fellow countrymen begin attempting to meddle in affairs that they should not be meddling in.
Part 4: story (822 words)
The bright orange Blorb-bulb sank slowly below the horizon, leaving the sky a watercolour of pinks, oranges, and reds that faded slowly into a dusky darkness. One by one, the lights along the streets of Blorbia flicked off, as usual. All went about their regular nightly routines, before all going to sleep at the same time. While the Blorbians were doing this, though, one Blorbian broke his routine: Fergus Blorbson. Though he should have been sleeping, he instead crept downstairs to his secret basement, its existence known by none save for his Blorb-dog, or his most trustworthy companion, Borgus Blorbgus, or Borgus for short. Borgus's feet clicked down the tile of the stairs as he followed steadily behind Blorbson down the stairs in total darkness. As they reached the bottom, Blorbson tapped his secret code into the hidden key panel in the door, then knocked three times. As the door creaked open, Blorbson tiptoed through, with Borgus still at his heels. Fergus closed the door quickly, then groped through the darkness to find the string hanging from the ceiling. As he found it, he double checked that the door was fully closed, then he tugged gently at the rope, and the lightbulb switched on. He went to the closet, whose door opened in a puff of dust - it hadn't been opened in a bit, and began searching for his materials. Borgus let out a mechanical bork noise. Fergus turned around. Borgus's green ears were perked, and he was staring intently at a shelf. Fergus followed his gaze, and noticed that Borgus had, in fact, found exactly what he needed. “Thank you, Borgus!” Blorbson exclaimed softly (he had to speak quietly, just in case a nosy neighbour happened to be listening in to his conversations). He reached for the vial, then grabbed it and turned around, almost tripping over Borgus's tail in the process. He proceeded to his lab bench, moving his white lab coat with a dramatic flourish as he sat down, with Blorbus lying down on the ground next to him.
Suddenly, Blorbson became acutely aware of a faint tapping noise. Borgus sat bolt upright, ears raised in alarm. “Quick, Borgus, hide,” Blorbson hissed. The two bolted for the closet, but it was too late. They reached the closet door just as the basement door groaned open. Blorbson and Borgus froze like deer caught in headlights, staring at the door, hoping desperately that it had just somehow been a particularly drafty and powerful gust of wind.
Their hopes were crushed completely when they saw a face staring back at them, the person's eyes blinking rapidly to adjust to the light - in Blorbia, no one's lights stayed on past 10 P.M. “What do you with your lights on past ten?” the figure demanded. Blorbson peered at them closely, trying to figure out which one of his neighbours it could be.
Was it Blorberb? He seemed innocent enough; he probably wouldn't rat Blorbson out, but he also probably wasn't intelligent enough to find this basement. No, it couldn't be him, Blorbson decided.
Perhaps it was Blorbina. Unfortunately, if it was her, she was a huge rule follower, so basically, Blorbson wouldn't stand a chance.
Blorbson couldn't think of the rest of his neighbours, but it didn't matter anyhow. The figure needed an answer, and they needed it now.
“U-Uh… Uhm… I…” Blorbson stammered.
“What.” the person snapped in response.
“Well, I've got a better question for you first. What do you on my property?” he demanded.
“Investigating a claim,” they responded rather matter-of-factly.
Blorbson knew at that moment that his lab would be taken, he would be punished, it was over.
“If you have not an answer for me now, we shall take you to the Hall to investigate further come morning.”
Fergus sighed shakily, nodding his head in response nervously. The figure turned around with a flourish and strode out the door, climbing the steps gracefully, yet powerfully.
The Hall was the largest building in Blorbia, best known for being the location of an annual potluck. However, few knew that the rest of the year, it held various events as well as (and this he knew most about since it was most likely to pertain to him, due to his line of work) trials of those who were found to be violating the (very few) rules of Blorbian society.
Blorbians focused on respecting one another, and on accepting everyone as equals. However, this also came with a strict sense of moral correctness, which involved a dislike of all forms of science that pushed the bounds of nature, like shape shifting or time travel.
Unfortunately, Fergus had taken himself down a path of scientific exploration that had led him to experimentation in time travel and an attempt to make a time machine. So, he knew it was his own fault; he'd have to face the fate he'd built for himself come morning.
weekly 2 - rule breaking (1543 words total)
Part 1: breaking common rules (537 words (260+277))
(following rules)
“Good morning, all!” the mayor shouted across the entirety of the town. His voice was rather loud, and the town was rather small, so this worked fairly well.
“Good morning!” chorused the town in reply, each replying from within the comfort of their own homes.
“This is a friendly reminder that our town meeting will take place in thirty minutes, and your attendance is expected unless you have valid reasoning for your absence!” the mayor announced.
“Okay!” came the synchronized reply from the town members.
“Wonderful!” exclaimed the mayor.
Humming echoed throughout the entirety of the joyous town as everyone prepared themselves (both mentally and physically) for the meeting to come.
“Alright everyone, you have five minutes until the meeting! You should start making your way here soon!” the mayor reminded loudly.
The town-members groaned collectively, trudging through the deep snow towards the city center.
“I feel like this could have been an email,” one town member grumbled.
“WHAT WAS THAT?” the mayor's voice boomed across the town (for, in addition to a rather loud voice, this mayor also possessed particularly good hearing).
“Uh- uh… nothing?” the member stammered nervously.
“Well that's not what I heard!” the mayor accused. Right after, though, he continued, “Not that I have an issue with that! Next time, I would just appreciate it if you could express your complaints directly to me so that I can better fix our meetings to benefit the people!”
For the mayor, at heart, was a very nice person (despite what his thundering voice might lead people to believe).
(breaking rules)
A girl approached me silently. I was sitting alone on the bench, and I thought that I had made it rather clear that I did not really want to be bothered. Apparently not, though.
“Hello!” she said brightly.
“Hello.” I said in response, attempting to make her go away. It did not seem to work though.
“My name is Sarah! What's yours?” she said in an annoyingly chirpy tone. It was rather frustrating, to be completely honest.
“Charlotte. Now can you please go away?!?” I said unhappily. She had rather interrupted my process of thinking deeply whilst staring out into the depts of space (also known as the bark of the tree that sat directly in front of me).
“How rude!” she said to me in response, looking genuinely offended by my remarks. I mean, come on. What random stranger past the age of, like, six took offense when another random stranger didn't want to talk to them? Honestly, though, if someone were to seem offended, she seemed like the type of person to do so. Not that I would ever judge anyone based off of first impressions, but… well. It was the truth, what can I say?
“…Ok?” I said in response, not really knowing what to say in response to that, and also, quite frankly, not really caring. She stared back at me, as if waiting for a longer response. I stayed silent. Again, I didn't know what she wanted from me. After all, SHE approached ME, not the other way around.
“Well, aren't you going to apologize?” she said accusingly. No, actually I was not, in fact, planning on it, I thought to myself.
Part 2: purposefully incorrect grammar (259 words)
The stars shone brightly. Too bright, for a night like this. It wasn't fair. Not fair. Not fair not fair not fair. I repeated those words, the syllables falling in line with my steps. Why me? I wondered, and just like that, the repetition changed. Why. Me. Why. Me. Why. Me. Each word, another step, propelling me onwards, forcing me to make it. Almost there. So close. And yet. I looked ahead of me. It seemed so close, yet so far. I couldn't do it. How was I meant to keep going, after… well… after? It wasn't fair. Not fair at all. And what would I do about it? The future was bleak, there was nothing else left for me. And yet. And yet I was forced to keep walking, to keep pushing onward. As though the walking could erase the past. No it wouldn't. Who was I even trying to convince at this point? There was no one left. At least, no one of any importance left. All that mattered had gone. Gone. Forever. The words became the new fuel to my steps, each stride another stab of guilt, hitting me right in the heart. But I couldn't stop. If I stopped, I wouldn't ever start again, I feared, and all would be lost. If it were all lost, then this would have been for nothing. All of it. And I couldn't let that happen. Couldn't. Wouldn't. But shouldn't. It shouldn't have- well… none of it should have. None of this should have happened, I thought to myself.
Part 3: asyndeton (312 words)
I felt happy. Full of joy, exhilaration, energy. Today was a canvas of bright colour, a splash of paint on a dull surface, a win after a streak of losses. Everything felt vibrant, alive today. I was on top of the world. Ecstatic. I mean, honestly, everything just seemed to be going right for me. Nothing had gone wrong (at least so far, not to jinx things). I wanted to skip, to sing, to hum. I wanted to climb a mountain and scream off the top of its peak in joy (not in annoyance). I felt like I could do anything. And most of all, I was proud of myself. I felt capable, strong, powerful. Honestly, after I got that result back, nothing mattered anymore. Nothing, that is, other than my pure bliss. I was free, finally, at long last, from the chains of despair. I looked around me. The trees seemed greener, the sky bluer, the clouds fluffier. I felt the sudden urge to look up hundred of motivational quotes and create a positivity P1nterest board. THAT's how happy I was. I truly just wanted to run down my street, to knock on all of my neighbours' doors, to shout in joy for the whole world to hear. I had done it. I had succeeded. Nothing felt better than this. Nothing would ever beat this moment, I was sure of it, with not a single inkling of doubt in my mind. So this was what true happiness was supposed to feel like. I understood it know, why so many people strove for this emotion that they called happiness. It was, truly, worth it. I felt like singing, though I couldn't even sing; like jumping for joy, though I could hardly jump high; like calling up everyone I knew, even though I only had two contacts saved in my phone (don't ask).
Part 4: non-sequitur dialogue (435 words)
“Come on, come on, come on!” I shouted, hoping that my frustratingly slow computer would FINALLY decide to submit the weekly. I had been trying to submit it for the past thirty minutes, and there were now only three minutes until midnight. Some may call it procrastination. I, on the other hand, would argue that I was rather on top of the weekly this week. After all, I had finished it with over thirty three minutes to spare. The only issue was that it appeared that my laptop was a chronic procrastinator as well. How unfortunate. I needed this weekly to submit, it was the only way we would be able to move up to first place. Our cabin needed one more weekly to move up, and they were counting on me. Unfortunately, we were all counting on someone else - while they were counting on me, I was counting on my old, slow computer that hardly even functioned anymore. If this weekly didn't submit… well… I didn't even know what would happen. It would be bad. Very bad. I would let down my entire cabin, which was honestly just not an option. I NEEDED my computer to cooperate, needed this weekly to submit. I frantically spammed the wifi button, turning it on and off repeatedly in hopes that it would save me. Just then. What was that? The page reloaded! Did it- I didn't even dare finish the thought out of fear of jinxing it. But it seemed like- maybe- perhaps? I jumped out of my chair, shouting in exhilaration. It had submitted. Finally. I checked the clock. Two minutes to spare. I desperately searched for the tab with the main cabin open. Not being able to find it, I opened a new tab and opened the main cabin link. There. I copy - pasted the link to my weekly, and to my shock, it posted almost immediately. Feeling rather satisfied, I leaned back, letting my frantically beating heart slow down. I decided to catch up on all of the comments that I had missed while I was busy writing my weekly, when I saw it. The top comment (well, below mine). “We regret to inform you that this session of SWC has been CANCELED”. What? I thought to myself. I couldn't believe it. This all had to be part of some sick joke, some elaborate prank by the hosts. But no. Just below it: “This is not a prank. This is real.” I couldn't believe my eyes. I sank to the ground, my mind melting into a puddle. Tears began to stream down my cheek.
WORD WARS
3/4/25 - 242 words (with prompt)
Prompt: @AmazaEevee: The sun isn't just a spicy dish to eat on birthdays.
The sun isn't just a spicy dish to eat on birthdays. I mean, come on, seriously? It's 2025; you cant really be telling me that you are still only eating the sun on your birthday, or on somebody else's birthday? Please be so for real there is actually absolutely zero way that you are doing that. And if you are - well I mean, come on, get with the times. That has been so out of fashion since like the 1800s. You can do better. See, all of the cool people nowadays are eating cake on their birthdays. The sun is honestly more like an everyday commodity now, something you might eat when there is no food left in the house and you are so hungry that you just have to eat something right then. Also, it is past time to start being more inventive with our sun dishes. Eating the sun plain is so boring - the spice is so strong and it honestly does not have all that much flavor except for that extreme heat and spiciness. It's just an overall unpleasant experience. We as a society need to learn to do better, in my opinion. Personally, I have been experimenting with my sun by adding it to different dishes. My current favourite is steak with the sun used as seasoning. It is a great option and has lots of flavor and protein. I'd also recommend adding other herbs and spices like
3/6/25 - 252 words (with prompt)
@ButterPopcorn8: “is now a bad time to tell you that i'm claustrophobic?”
“Is now a bad time to tell you that I am claustrophobic?” asked the character (who shall not be named because I do not currently have enough brain power left to come up with a name for them, so they will remain character one). The other character, (who also shall not be named anything other than character two for the reasons mentioned above), cried out in annoyance. “You always leave things to the absolute last minute!” they screamed. The two were already several hundred miles deep into a cave far below the ocean. In other words, no, it was not exactly a very good time for character number one to tell character number two that they were claustrophobic. In fact, it may have very well been the absolute worst possible time to share such a statement. “What are you, an idiot??” they cried out. “You have literally had all day - no not even all day; you've had days, weeks, months, years, even; WHAT were you doing all of this time as we eagerly planned out this trip to go cave diving?” “Well I guess that I felt bad,” admitted character one. “FEELING BAD IS NOTHING COMPARED TO GETTING STUCK IN THIS CAVE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” screamed character two. "Now what will we do? We need to find a way to get this magical treasure out of the cave somehow but now I do not now how we will ever do such a thing. Thanks a lot for ruining everything bro
3/8/25 - 938 words (with prompt)
@lilyjen: “If you're the mango, what am I?”
If you are the mango, then what does that make me? This just really feels like the most unfair game we could possibly have come up with. I mean, how come you always get to do the cool stuff? This is so boring and really not fun whatsoever for me. Could we PLEASE try to make this a little bit more fair - i am begging you at this point, to be completely honest. The mango costume is way cooler than literally everything else we have here available to us. Like you have at this point already gotten to be the mango, AND the writing, AND the cabin wars. I just do not really think that i can continue to make an swc themed play with you if this is how you are going to behave. And what is next, you are going to tell me that I am not allowed to write anymore? This is just pure, absolute, ridiculousness, and needs to stop instantly. What we will do, is I will get to be the mango, and not you, to make things just a tad bit more fair. NO?!? Fine then, I see how it is. I guess I just wont be the mango, since you never actually cared what I get to be, you only care about yourself and what you want to get to be in the play. This is just the worst. Seriously why did I even decide to agree to work with you on this? So anyways, if i were to let you be the mango, then what would I get to be? Because there is not really anything else involved in this scene sooo…
WHAT?? YOU SERIOUSLY WANT ME TO BE A TREE STUMP?
DO I look useless to you?
I refuse to be a tree stump. I dont care that it shows wisdom because its old - wait are you calling me old? seriously?!?! I am literally younger than you seriously come on this is just terrible
Anyways, if you keep behaving like this, then I will have to leave.
Fine then, I am out. You will just have to continue planning, creating, and performing this play by yourself, i guess. Have fun and good luck. Or don't. honestly, at this point, i do not even care what happens because i am so done with your exclusion. It is hurting my feelings and is just, to be quite honest, selfish and not fair to the rest of us. You will have a hard time finding someone else who will put up with this more than I do - I already put up with you so much more and for so much longer than just about anyone else will, since I was hoping you were nice down below. Turns out I was wrong. I should have just gone with my first, initial instincts - they are rarely wrong after all. But anyways, have fun trying to find someone to be your tree stump.
Meanwhile, I personally, am just going to go write my OWN swc themed play because you clearly do not need any more help over here. And mine is going to be better than yours, so so so much better than yours - I will be making sure of that, that is for sure. And this way, I will get more words for my own cabin rather than just following whatever you write, which will only give you points for your cabin rather than for mine. Honestly I do not even know why i decided to try to work with you in the first place - it literally does not benefit me or my cabin in any way, shape, or form. MY play is going to be so much better than yours, and it is going to have ALL the mangoes. Everyone can be a mango - everyone, that is, except for you. IF you wouldn't let me be the mango, then I will not let you be the mango either. Ha. See. That should show you. And I am going to schedule the performance of my play for the same time as your play's performance because, first of all, it will force people to decide whether they would rather go to your play or to mine. It will show who truly cares about me and who is my real friend, and it will show me who is a fake and would rather side with you, despite your annoying, rude, selfish personality traits. See, it will be an all around good play. Plus, everyone will be so stunned, shocked, awed even, by the amazingness of my show - of its plot, of its stellar reviews, and of my amazing advertising skills, which will be put to good use, fear not (featuring lots of mangoes, of course. because why not) and everyone will want to come and watch my show instead of going to see yours since your play is LAME and BORING and mine will be so, so, so much better, far more interesting, far more fascinating, far more entertaining. The audiences will be in stitches, doubled over laughing at how incredibly funny my play is. And your play? Your play, well- your play, on the other hand, the entire audience will be snoozing. They will be asleep in their seats; fast asleep - snoring and everything. And dont worry. Every single one of them will enjoy your play because of how well it put them to sleep. I bet they will have the greatest dreams of their lives in that sleep - maybe they'll even be dreaming about what would have happened had they chosen to go watch MY
3/9/25 - 583 words (with prompt)
@ReadWriteSing: The hidden Cabin of Mangoes was going to win this session of SWC.
I, personally, feel as thought the hidden cabin of mangoes is honestly something that we do not speak about anywhere near enough in our life. I mean, come on. Like yeah, I suppose that it is hidden, meaning that perhaps not that many people on this planet will truly know about it because it is a hidden secret. However, I know about it. You know about it, clearly. Word wars know about it. So therefore, anyone who has done a word war with a prompt and also whoever gave that prompt seems to know about it. Soo why are we not talking about this? I mean, I feel like this is a very relevant issue. It is rather unfair for a hidden cabin to have a chance in this session of swc because we have no way of seeing their score and thus can neither verify their score nor can we see it and use it as more motivation for us to write more words. Therefore, it is very unfair to us. Anyways, apparently this hidden cabin was going to win, which is not the greatest. I mean, it is flat out unfair. Anyways, no one even knows how many points they have at this very moment. So we all collectively believe, honestly, that this is not a very fair race. As a result, there is currently a very popular movement among the members of swc, to ban the hidden Cabin of Mangoes from participating in SWC. Though they are still allowed to write, the movement is currently pushing to have the hidden Cabin of Mangoes qualify as a cabin that will not win, just like fairy tales is. Because, honestly it is just very unfair for a cabin that very few people even really know about to have a chance at winning. Personally I agree with this movement. I mean, how can these cabins with lots of hard work be beaten just like that by a cabin that they did not even know existed? At the same time though, I suppose that they did do all the writing and get all of the points that they needed to win so perhaps it would only be fair to give them the chance and the opportunity to win since they were still writing like the rest of us. Honestly, I think we may all just be very very jealous that they get to represent mangoes, whereas the rest of us just have to be part of cabins relating to boring, generic genres of literature. I mean imagine getting to participate in the cabin of the mangoes. I mean, that just sounds incredible. What is not to love about mangoes? They are truly one of the greatest things ever. Honestly, mangoes are just so very lovely and great. I love mangoes. But the sour mangoes are supreme (this is also sort of a bit of an obscure reference but also just truth to be honest) and the sweet ones are honestly kind of gross. I used to like them less, now I will tolerate them but like still I do not really love the very sweet mangoes. Anyways, I think that i have well established the idea hat the cabin of the mangoes sounds cooler than all of the other cabins because they get to have and be mangoes which honestly sounds like so very much fun. And also like imagine getting to be in the cabin of the mangoes - like?? That sounds awesome because
@PixelDucko: Dear Santa: for Christmas, I'd like a peaceful life for a change.
Dear Santa,
For Christmas I would like a peaceful life for a change. I've been having it a bit rough this past year; you probably know that. I mean, a fire last Christmas day that burnt down our entire house? NOT a good Christmas present. Like come on bro, what did I do to you? I know that you are supposed to give coal to those who don't behave themselves well but like. That feels a little bit extreme. It is supposed to be coal, not ashes. Really? Give me a chance, please. I know I may not have been the best behaved either of these two years, but honestly, still, do you really believe that I need to have my house burned down? Just please at the very least do not replicate that again this year. Also I just need some quiet. Like everything has been so hectic, between having to move and ending up in the loudest possible neighbourhood without realizing that it was loud until we moved there. Come on, I have had a hard time and my request is simple. Please just give me even a little bit of silence; it would help me out so, so, so very much and honestly my entire house and family would be very, very grateful for your help and your contribution to improving our household. Anyways, please consider giving me my request since that is literally all I
3/12/25 - 430 words (with prompt)
@TheBibliophile7: “do you… really want to touch that?”
“Do you… really want to touch that?” she asked. “Why would I not,” i responded. I mean there did not seem to be any reason why i would not want to touch it. After all, it was just a mystery box. You know, one of those games that sometimes goes viral when people record and post it for youtube videos? Yeah it was one of those types of boxes. Honestly, how bad could it be? I knew my friends; they probably wouldn't put anything toooo too bad in there… right? I honestly was now beginning to second guess my decision because what if they had suddenly turned super mean and decided to get back at me for doing… well, honestly i wasn't really sure why they might want to get back at me for anything but still… I mean maybe it could have been some elaborate but also quite mean prank that they had decided to play on me. Honestly i was not really sure of anything anymore since they had caused me to start second guessing literally everything. Oh well, I thought to myself though and just decided to plunge my hand in (still tentatively though). I put my hand in the hole very quickly then paused in hesitation. Perhaps I was a little scared. I mean to be completely honest if my friend had not said anything to me before then I probably would have done it without even giving it a second thought but now all of a sudden I was honestly quite nervous. I debated just taking my hand out and walking away, but i really didn't want to seem like a coward in front of all of my friends. “Scared?” one friend asked. That was the last straw for me though, and with that i plunged my hand in the rest of the way, squeezing my eyes closed tightly and hoping very much so that there would not be anything harmful or gross inside of the mysterious box. Had it been something weird, I honestly did not know what I would do. As i reached though i did not feel anything. That was strange, I thought to myself. Surely there had to have been something inside of here otherwise what even was the point of playing this game? I thought to myself. I reached around the inside of the box trying to find whatever was hidden inside there, when i suddenly felt it. A wet messy blob of well… something. To be honest, i was not really sure what could possibly have been in there.
The story of the kev*n is one that is not well known by many. Not well known by many, that is, except for the itp, which is actually also the reason why the story is not very well known. That is to say, the itp has been actively censoring much of the information that has surfaced about kev*n and bartholom*w for many reasons. Mainly, though, they hope to halt the spread of harmful rumors which honestly do not do anything to help in the search for kev*n. they require the censorship of this name because they would like to raise more awareness about the issue of kev*n, which is very relevant and important and also they just do not like kev*n and as a result would also like to censor his name to stop the spread of people talking about him. However by stopping these rumors they do overall stop the spread of misinformation surrounding the situation of kev*n. the itp also tries to root out potential traitors by censoring those who do not censor the name kev*n as they are likely traitors and helping or harboring kev*n, which the itp does not like. The itp is still currently on a search for kev*n and bartholom*w due to the evils that they have committed in this world as many well as many other worlds and so they hope to find and catch the two so that they can put an end to the two's reign of power which has lasted for far too long. Many fear kev*n/bartholom*w and speak of the horrors that they have experienced at their hands. It is not good. In other words, the itp is currently working for the good of the people and to protect everyone on this planet as well as on so many other planets and in so many other universes and time zones because they want to help the world overall by keeping it safe from all sources of evil which in this case have surfaced in the form of the evil known as kev*n, or one of the most horrible people in all of the galaxies and parallel universes.
First of all, I just wanted to say that I love your piece. I think it's a super creative and cool idea to have letters tell a story.
I would say that, in general, your story makes sense. However, you may want to consider clarifying some of the points mentioned (particularly the oath, and the jumping - I was a bit confused about those two parts). On the other hand, though, it adds a sense of mysteriousness to your letters, so I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. If it was intentional, then I honestly kind of like it, but if you were asking about clarity of it I would say to look at that again. Also, this is just a small detail, but in all of the letters, I noticed that Friele signed them (whereas Avis did not). In Friele's second-to-last letter, though, Friele did not sign it. I'm not sure whether or not this was intentional (again, if it is, then no worries), but I wanted to mention it in case you overlooked that.
In terms of character voice, I really enjoy the way in which you portrayed the characters. I think that your use of specific voice really creates a strong distinction between the two characters. However, I will say that there were some points in the text in which either each character sounded like the other (i.e. Avis sounded more like Friele, or vice versa), or when their character voice just seemed to change rather drastically. Obviously they can have some overlap, but there were some specific moments that stood out to me. When reading the letters, it seemed to me as though Avis has a more poetic voice and has a tendency to be repetitive (basically pretty, dramatic writing), whereas Friele is a bit more direct (aside from the Nature discussion). For these reasons, I'll continue to talk about what I noticed in the context of the observations I just noted.
I think the most evident part was the
“Friele, why are you telling me what I already know?
I know you can't change my past.
I know you can’t protect me. Please don’t make empty promises.”
Something about this just seemed a bit off for Avis' character, I can't fully place it, I think it may have something to do with the desperation of it – while I think adding the desperation could be an interesting change of voice, perhaps we're seeing Avis' slightly less filtered remarks, but I think that's something you may want to consider (if you haven't already) since the rest of Avis' writing seems to have a bit more of an indirect/roundabout way of addressing matters.
This part also felt a bit out of character to me:
“Avis, I apologise for not understanding what your letter was truly about. I understood, but I did not want to admit it.
That would make it real.”
I just think that it feels a bit abrupt, as though you were perhaps just trying to convey your point as quickly as possible. I don't know, it just kind of feels like a break in fluidity that you could consider looking into.
Honestly, though, I'm just being a bit nitpicky to offer advice and mention things that stood out to me as I read so that you can look into them and evaluate the intentionality of them. Overall, as I said before, I love the piece and I think it's really well written and just an interesting concept! It looks great!
First of all, I really enjoyed your story. I think it's overall beautifully crafted, full of mystery and suspense.
While I do like the suspense, you may want to consider giving some detail earlier on in the text so that the reader is not left questioning the entirety of the story until about halfway through. Obviously, I understand why you would want to withhold information about Ghislaine, etc., but you could consider just describing the monastery a bit more before you continue (for instance, what bed? what color was the room? what did the room look like? what did the man's voice and tone sound like? et cetera).
Two other things that I saw overall fairly often were:
Firstly, you switched from Augustin to Augustine quite often. You may want to consider picking one, then keeping it consistently the same throughout the entirety of the text.
Secondly, you had a number of fragments and run-on sentences. Though I understand that it is a tool that you can use to further your storyline, add nuance to the flow, and make certain ideas stand out to the reader (which I did definitely see at certain points, which is why I did not note those), I think there were certain points in which these stood out to me in a negative way - in other words, it seemed overly disjointed of fragmented. I have a list below, which you can look over and consider whether or not they were intentional and how/whether or not they contribute to or take attention away from your purpose.
For instance:
“She spoke with the simplest of tones, trying to administer within herself a feeling of warmth that her late friend, Jean Norman would have portrayed when faced with such a question had it been she who had survived.” The second part of this sentence feels like a run-on. Overall, it's just a bit confusing and difficult to understand as well (mainly after Jean Norman), so you may want to consider rewording it to further add clarity to your work.
“But supposedly it seems he would not get an answer from this woman who sat on the bed.” This is a fragment (also because it starts with but), which is perhaps not as much of an issue in this instance, but the sentence overall feels a bit unclear (supposedly and it seems being used in the same sentence is also quite redundant)
“His narrow yet sharp jaw moved with a sort of essence of authority, as he spoke in a chipped voice, his broad shoulders tensed, as one of his hands found their way to rest on the door panel, while the other continued to rummage through the woman's bag, filled with cosmetics and dirty rags.” Honestly, you could probably put a period after authority. I also think you may use the word as a bit excessively, which is further contributing to the disjointedness of this phrase. You may just want to try reworking this sentence (and maybe read it aloud too to see whether it makes more sense) to clarify your point.
“That and the fact the government was looking for a certain Ghislaine who had not only nurse a German soldier back to health, but had also led to the German troops finding their way to the little village, that was bringing the kazi an inch closer to capturing the whole of France.” This is just confusing (and almost definitely a run-on sentence). You could consider adding a comma after the first that, also you likely mean nursed, not nurse? The last clause of this sentence also doesn't work amazingly grammatically. Not sure, you may just want to try to rework this a bit.
“After all, almost everything had been drained in attempts of freeing France from the War. From the German's clutches.” The from the German's clutches part seems a bit disjointed - I get the idea of wanting to separate the two sentences but I'm not really sure, something seems a bit strange about it. If you like the disjointedness it gives though (like as a way to further your emotions being conveyed in the story, etc.) then disregard this - it's just something else to think about!
“Some stained with bl00d, others filled with tiny letters scribbled on them with perhaps squid ink.” This is not a full sentence, so you may want to consider adding a verb or incorporating it into the sentence that you wrote before this one, to allow for a smoother read.
Now on to other random things that I noticed:
I really like the “to the best of her abilities” part, I just think that's a really interesting way of putting it (in a positive sense) and it adds a sense of suspense that draws the reader in quite well.
“almost brown to many” this part is a bit unclear - are you trying to say that many people thought it almost looked brown? That's what I gathered but it kind of took me a minute to figure that out; you may want to try to clarify that so your reader doesn't have to pause to ponder what you're saying (unless you want them to ponder that, though, of course)
“yet straight back, and yet small woman whose” this also feels a bit redundant and also unclear - why is having a straight back a ‘yet’ idea to having narrow shoulders? I don't consider those two to be contradictory (nor do I see someone being small as contradicting these); not sure, you may just want to rethink your transition words.
“meaningfully” - what does staring meaningfully mean? maybe clarify this a bit, since it's not super easy to picture.
“His warm hazel eyes conveying a hint of intrigue, yet most of it only showed the impatience the man had towards her and the countless injured he would have to tend to” This sentence doesn't quite make sense grammatically (verb tenses seem off - I think the use of conveyING may be throwing it off but I'm not one hundred percent sure).
“And yet, even then, the French found themselves being forced to flee or getting hurt under the control of the once suppressed but now furious men of the country of Germany” (this is purely a personal opinion, do with it what you want lol) I honestly think this sentence could be more powerful without the use of the world “being” before forced to flee. I just think it can make the sentence more direct, make your words more final and dramatic, in a way.
“Her eyes and her elocution drafted, almost to match that of Jean.” To be completely honest, I have no clue what you're trying to say here.
“These men would not know who Jean was, or who she was. And the identity certificates did not contain pictures. So it would be impossible for them to put apart she and Jean.” Lots of fragmentation, so you may want to try to vary sentence structure. Also her and Jean, not she and Jean.
After “Augustine” and before “that is”, you probably want to add a comma. Also, “narrow shouldered” is usually hyphenated.
“However this lie was crucial” you may want to add a comma after however (there usually is a comma (in most cases) after the word however). “Not now, not never.” You could probably change never to ever for more clarity. “ A child that is” consider adding a comma after child? “The Germans, because they wanted to k111 any thread related to their own mishaps before their great siege and the Allies, because well…she saved a German.” maybe consider adding a comma after the second because (the one before well). “she claimed was hers'” - dont need the apostrophe. “lady of the Augustin manner” Do you mean manner or manor? “Safer than here, where the hills were being concurred by the Germans.” Did you mean to say conquered here? “wonder if they were in any way, of benefit to him.” Here, your comma feels a bit off. I'd recommend either getting rid of it or putting a second comma after were (so I suppose actually a first comma but you get the point XD) “The true Jean that is.” you probably want to have a comma after Jean. “god in such manner!” God is usually capitalized.
“To the point he was completely ignoring the Mother Genevieve standing beside him, who was watching him abashed and horrified of his insistent manners towards a poor damsel in distress.” Though I can't fully place what feels off, you may want to try to revise the grammar and phrasing of this sentence.
“Ghislaine forced herself to stop herself from smiling at the sight of the nun who stood by Rooney's side, smacking him in the head.” This sentence feels a bit confusing. It also kind of sounds like Ghislaine is the one smacking Rooney in the head. I'm not sure, it's just a little bit confusing.
“Rooney couldn't stop staring at Ghislaine. Or the woman he supposed was Ghislaine but was going under the name of Jean Norman.” You probably will want to add a comma after Ghislaine. Also, this also just feels a bit off again.
“One that he could not get rid of from his mind.” For clarity and ease of reading, you can probably just say ‘could not rid from his mind’.
“The reason he was insisting on so much on the woman being Ghislaine Augustin was because everyone knew from the rumours that the woman was mad.” Your use of ‘the woman’ feels quite repetitive, you may want to work on editing that.
Anyways, a lot of this is just pretty nitpicky, and though it seems like I may have had a lot of critique, I honestly liked your text a lot - it is just fairly long, which is likely why I had so many edits for it. Also, sorry if it seems like some of my critiques were very harsh (or like blunt or straightforward); I'm not trying to be mean with them - I am just quite tired and doing my best haha. Anyways, I love how it looks. As for the analysis of World War two, I think your portrayal is quite good! I'm not super familiar with France during that time so I may not be the best person to say for sure, but it seems more or less accurate!
I love this story, I think it's really intriguing and excellently written. I really enjoy how it directly throws the reader into the scene with little context, it's very eye-catching and engaging. That being said, I think you may want to consider adding some more clarifying details somewhere in the text, if you can – even something like going further into detail on the difference between the city and the island, or what the island looked like, et cetera. However, I do still really like the lack of information, (I don't mean for this to come across in a negative way I mean this genuinely) but, again, I think just a tad bit more background could be beneficial. At the same time, though, if you like the mysteriousness of the way it currently sounds, I do think that makes a powerful statement as well.
I also think you may want to consider your lack of quotations. Is this intentional? It seems that way (possibly?), but it's a little unclear why. The lack of quotations also makes the text a bit confusing in some places, particularly this paragraph: “It's our culture, she says quietly, filling the silence of the nights. Tonight no crickets chirp, there is barely any rustle of trees in the wind. It's our culture to appreciate and love the stars, and the fishermen use them to chart paths. She points at the shadows of ships that live at the edges of the horizon. The soft swoosh of the beach water warms me, and when I look up, my heart races.” Though I eventually figured out that the first and third sentences were spoken aloud, but I just think that it got a little confusing for a moment. So basically, you may want to add quotations to make it a smoother read for the reader. However, if this pause is intentional to make the reader wonder, I also think that is really interesting - just something for you to think about.
Speaking of clarity, this line “They are like guardians, the eyes of the night, spying on them for us”, gets a little confusing - who is them? I figured that the “they” refers to the stars, but who are they spying on? I'm not completely sure what is going on here and it could be a bit difficult for the reader to work out. You may want to just rewrite this sentence a little bit to increase clarity. Unless, of course you meant to make it a little bit mysterious, in which case disregard this (like I said for the past few - all of these things that I am noting may have been intentional on your part, in which case don't pay attention to them - regardless though I think it will give you something to think about ).
I also think you may want to go back to the Halo Girl part - that was something that definitely stuck out to me as I was reading it. I liked the addition of having the speaker's mind name her that, but then you continue to have the speaker refer to her later as Angel. Obviously, I understand why she would say so aloud to her mother, but then the speaker continues to think about her as Angel. It just didn't quite seem clear to me, so you may want to revisit that idea (for clarification, I like the idea, but I think you should maybe try to continue it throughout the text). Also (this is purely just a personal idea, do with it what you want lol) you could perhaps consider having the speaker pause for a moment before saying that the girl's name is Angel (like a little mental moment of ‘Halo Girl - wait no Angel). I don’t really know, honestly; just a suggestion to think about it.
However, these are all just little things that I noticed throughout the text. Overall, I love the story. I'd also be curious to read more about what was going on - I think the story is very powerful on its own since it leaves the reader to wonder a lot, but I also just want to know what you intended by it lol. Honestly in general (this is totally random but) you could even continue this into a longer work that goes into more detail later - I think that would be really cool to read (If you do please let me know I'd love to read it!); honestly just random though lol.
CABIN WARS
fan-fi war - 300 words about someone's OC (310 words)
I stood up with a yawn. I had not slept well. I had been up nearly all night watching the stars outside with my telescope - it was a particularly clear night. I could see so many stars! I smoothed my rainbow fur, and began getting ready for school. On my way out the door, I grabbed toast with mango jelly. I had always loved jelly – I mean, what's not to love about it? It's fantastic. I love trying different types of jelly, and I usually vary my jelly choices in the morning. Today was mango, though. Some of my favourites are mango jelly, passion fruit jelly, and strawberry jelly. It's rather hard to choose just one favourite flavour. I headed off to school, where my first class was technology. I loved having technology first period – it was one of my favourite classes, which made it the best possible way to start out my day. Today, we had a substitute teacher, so I just got to do fun tech-y stuff on the computer. I won't get into too much detail here, so as not to bore you, since you (the reader) likely don't actually care all that much about what it is that I did today during technology class. Next, I had astronomy, my other favourite class (mornings at school are the best!). I got to class early so that I could talk to my teacher about my stargazing activities of the night before. I was so excited to talk about it, since most of my friends had gotten so bored of me talking to them about stars and astronomy. My teacher, on the other hand, loved hearing about it. So it was a win-win situation, honestly. We chatted for a while, until class finally started. That class always goes by too quickly, just like technology. It's all so much fun!
fan-fi war - 300 words about someone's OC - continued with same character (324 words)
As I exited the room of my astronomy class, I suddenly felt the inexplicable urge to go sprint outside. So, for some reason, that is, in fact, what I ended up doing. Everyone was staring at me, but it didn't even really matter, I had some free time since lunch was next. Strangely enough, as I looked outside, there was a rainbow! How symbolic, I thought to myself. Weirdly enough, though, it seemed as though the rainbow was- maybe… emerging from my hands? Wait, no, that couldn't be right. That would not make any sense whatsoever. So weird, I thought to myself. But nope, it was definitely coming from my hands. A big, bright, sparkly rainbow, emerging directly from my hands. I began to panic just ever so slightly internally. What was even going on? This was by far the weirdest day I had ever experienced at school. And it was eventful too, for sure. Maybe I was hallucinating. After all, I had not slept all too well the night before, I recalled. Still, though, this seemed very real. And very weird. And I honestly think that it was so weird that I could not have even possibly have been imagining it. I mean, this was the kind of thing that was so crazy that I could not have made that up all by myself, even if I had tried. But honestly, I had no clue what I was supposed to do with this information. Like yay, I have rainbows coming out of my hands? WHAT? That's just insane. And no one would believe me anyways. So, in other words, I was a bit stuck. I couldn't go inside right now since someone would see and I would get in trouble, or get sent off to a lab to be studied, or- or- I don't even know. But something bad would happen if I returned to that dismal school building, I could feel it…
action war - dare from main cabin (314 words)
Screams echoed all around. You look around in a frantic panic, searching desperately for the source of the screams. Then, it hits you. You see the tower tumbling, crumbling at the base, and headed… right towards you? Uh oh. You scramble backwards, following the flood of people scrambling to safety. The Eiffel Tower was falling. Crashes resound, and you hope that the tower won't fall on you. You watch helplessly as it continues to tilt, closer, and closer to you, its shadow looming above you. You could feel it about to fall on top of you, and close your eyes tight, hoping that the tower would not land on top of you, leading to your certain crushing. The tower creaked and groaned, the hinges and bolts beginning to pop - you could feel it. But no, it was far worse not being able to see your fate, to be forced to wait with your eyes closed in hope that you would be safe. For it was far too late to keep trying to run, and the tower was too tall. Suddenly, with a loud BOOM and a CRASH, the tower came down, shattering instantly into thousands of pieces. You blinked through the debris of the fallen tower. Somehow, miraculously, you had managed to survive (in one piece, at that). Thankfully. You looked around, hoping that everyone else was okay as well. You had friends who were there with you, and family too. You did not even know what you would do if they had not been okay. Thankfully, everyone seemed unscathed. It appeared that the bricks of the Eiffel Tower had ended up being more or less harmless. Not a single person had even lost their hair, heads, or legs! What a miracle. Oh, yes, you suppose that you forgot to mention that you are a Lego. This was a Lego Eiffel Tower, for clarification.
Hello, hello! My name is Krm (she/her) and I’m very excited to be part of SWC this session. :0 This March I’m really looking forward to getting to do some more writing (maybe even working on a novel of some kind?)—I love writing, but I haven’t been able to make as much time for it now that I’m such a busy high schooler. :’)
I pride myself on my many (and by many, I do mean many) interests. I’m kind of a split between a STEM kid and a humanities kid. For humanities: I’m a history nerd—sadly, I don’t know all that much history, but if there’s anything you’d like to talk to me about, I’m more than eager to learn. I’m a writer (evident, I’m sure, because I joined SWC) as well. Also, I adore reading! I’m currently reading Storm by Virginia Bergin, which I’m enjoying a lot. My favorite genres to read are probably fantasy, mystery, and thriller. In addition, I love drawing. While I’m still a beginner artist, I find drawing a lot of fun. As for STEM, I’m a robotics club kid—my school has an FTC, or First Tech Challenge, team. I project manage our team, which is a lot of fun! I know the slightest bit of basic java, as well as a little bit of python, HTML, and CSS. I have a lot of fun coding. I enjoy math and science as well.
Outside of school, I’m part of a mock trial team. It’s a lot of fun! Last time, I got to play a ‘lawyer’ conducting the direct examination of a witness. (Basically, interviewing the witness.) As a result, I know a lot about objections and arguing against them. Mock trial has also influenced some of my writing, and I’ve found being a mock lawyer is a bit like being a detective: you need to find the clues that will boost your case.
Another one of my obsessions is card games. I have no idea why, but I love strategic TCGs so much. I’m a Yu-Gi-Oh! Card game player, even if I’m a little rusty. I have a younger brother who I play Pokemon cards with a lot. As people whoa actually play the card games are a rare breed, it's always very nice to meet new people who understand what I say when I refer to “Ash blossom” or simply “Nibiru”. Sadly, my Magic the Gathering knowledge is lacking. If you’re a Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG player, I have no doubt we’ll be fast friends.
On the subject of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, I’m also a huge fan of both of those outside of the card games. My favorite Pokemon is Sprigatito, but I’ve been following Pokemon for quite a while in both the manga and the anime. Yu-Gi-Oh! is the same; I’ve read the manga and watched the anime for a few of the seasons. I think, based on the manga, ArcV was my favorite.
Another area of interest: the enneagram! I absolutely adore this thing, and I think its a great tool for writing and even thinking of the world. <3 The enneagram, for those who don’t know, is a way of categorizing humans into ‘personality types’—but instead of these types being based on their personality traits, the sorting is mainly rooted in a person’s core belief (which might be subconscious). In other words: what do you deeply want? Not deeply want as in “to become a doctor” or even “a bar of chocolate” (though, I’ll admit, there have been times where I’ve felt a bar of chocolate was my deepest desire); what do you want if you take away the specifics? It boils down to nine types, separated into three categories. There are three head types: twos, who want love; threes, who want recognition; and fours, who want a unique sense of identity. Likewise, there are three fear types: fives, who want knowledge; sixes, who want stability and support; and sevens, who want to avoid problems. Finally, there are three gut types: the eight, who wants control; the nine, who wants peace; and the one, who wants moral perfection. If you’re interested, or you already know what enneagrams are and are equally obsessed with them, I’m sure we’ll get along!
Pivoting to writing, I’ve never really written anything longer than the forty page manuscript I co-wrote with my cousin. Currently, the longest thing I’ve written is a seventeen chapter Pokemon adventures fan-fiction that I supposedly co-wrote with my brother (who gave up after the first page) who knows how long ago. But I’m looking forward to changing that! Currently, my writing consists mainly of short stories. I’ve recently begun jotting down any writing ideas that pass my mind and make me think to reflect on and experiment with later. Most of my writings currently are very silly concepts; namely, I’ve been planning to write a story about an underground mafia who sells counterfeit goldfish, and a political thriller about Santa’s north pole elves. It’s all in good fun, and I’m incredibly excited to write more silly things. Aside from funny smush-together of archetypes and genres, I’ve recently begun writing what I now know is called xenofiction, writing about an abstract idea or from the perspective of something irregular. My recent favorite strange narrators have included the shadow of a girl, and the concept of fire itself.
Oh, and puzzles! I’m a huge puzzle nerd. Please talk to me about riddles, mysteries, escape rooms, or really just logic puzzles of any kind. Part of the reason I love math is because each problem a bit like a puzzle. I’m better than I should be at solving ‘jokes’, often being the one in my class to shout out answers to cheesy jokes such as “what shape is an empty parrot cage?” and “what do you call a monkey that isn’t composite?” (the answers being ‘polygon’ {Polly-gone} and ‘primate] {prime-ate}, respectively) whenever our math teacher reads them out in class.
I can’t wait to get to know more people, and if you share any interests with me (or hey, even if you don’t!) don’t be afraid to reach out and say hi.
i’m aster, i use they/fae—I’m currently experimenting with pronouns, I’ve gone through a whole bunch so far, hoping I’ll find the ones i really like soon—and im in the ct timezone . this’ my 7th session of swc! i was in hi-fi nov 2022, dystopian mar 2023 , steampunk july 2023, epistolary mar 2024, solarpunk july 2024, sci-fi nov 2024, and now I’m in mystery mar 2025! that is indeed seven, well done, me! anyways, I like psychology, writing, reading, my ocs, horror, and music—i play the viola and i sing . I’m a theater kid! I was matilda in matilda jr, but then I was like ‘nah, I quit lol’, and I came back doing sound and light crew until this year, where I tried out for James & the giant peach, our shows are in two weeks—dress rehearsal next Saturday—and I’m an ensemble role, I’m pretty happy with it, it’s been a while. I play viola, as I said, and it’s my main hobby—I got accepted into a higher level orchestra this year and I’m second chair, and I’m waiting for a result on my audition for next year…hoping for the best…I’ve only actually been playing for four years, and just got serious about it last year, but my neighbor teaches me, and he’s a really good violist, it’s really fun…join our ranks.
I love project sekai, may have an obsession with tsukasa tenma…and I do have a plan to tier top 10k on his world link soon…ive gotten 3k before on an unmissable spirited affair or whatever it was called lol, i think i can!! >:]
I’m a teenager, and my birthday’s april 16th, I’ve been on scratch for almost 5 years, including older accounts…I think I got into swc because of me and moss having extremely similar usernames, or maybe I just found it on the trending page of scratch? Could be either! :3
I’m going to ramble about my ocs for a bit now, because I love them! It’s kinda Doki Doki Literature Club style mixed with a Needy Streamer Overload bit , so I can't really post too much about their lore on scratch, but if you do want to read about them, I have other places to find me, with the same user as here…I do a bit with them, though, and there will be warnings about the story, though, so do read at your own risk, it may be a bit heavy, and there will be mentions of religion. I do the flower daily with them a lot, so I can't wait for that! I love the flower daily so much, I adore symbolism and deliberate color choices in art and stuff like that!!
Umm…what else
there’s still more words to do aaaa im not finishing this bruh , it’s five min until 6 :sob:
Just some stuff about me that’s literally random: I’ve eaten rosin before, I want to dye my hair dark blue, I love space, I’m taking ap precalc , I draw a bunch, I’ve never actually been to McDonald’s before, my first fandom was Kirby, I know morse code, my favorite color is dark green, and I rlly rlly like cats!
um
I’m crocheting an army of whales right now, they’re adorable, and I’m making plushies of my ocs…I should’ve probably wrote about me reading now, I’m finally realizing, but I basically read psychology textbooks and nothing else…oh, yeah, I wanna be a psychiatrist when I’m older! I love the human brain, it’s so rlly interesting, people are so odd and silly it’s amazing…I also really love grammar, you can't tell in this since I’m speedrunning it lol, but it’s really close to my heart, I’m the first person in my family who has English as their first language, everyone else knows Hindi, and my English and grammar is something I really pride myself upon!
It’s 2 min until I have to stop, so I’m just gonna end here, sorry for the abrupt finish, but it had to be done…farewell, I really hope to get to meet some of you! also mystery for the win lol
1k intro!
Hello everyone! Most of you have probably heard of me, but for those who haven’t, my Scratch nickname is Soki and I use she/they pronouns primarily. This session is my twelfth session of SWC, which means I’ve been participating in SWC every session for a full four years! To be honest I find that quite hard to believe.
My first SWC session was in July of 2021 when I was a camper in the Realistic Fiction Family Reunion, which was led by Bright/Ryann and co-led by Elle and Wishes. My second SWC session was in November of 2021 when I was the leader of the Thriller Detective Agency or Thrillee Dective Ahenvy, which was co-led by Luna and Sai. My third SWC session was in March of 2022 when I was the leader of the Science Fiction Space Wreck, which was co-led by Hop/Aspen, Sai, and Waterfall. My fourth SWC session was in July of 2022 when I was the leader of the Adventure Parks, which was co-led by Dawn and Jess. My fifth session of SWC was in November of 2022 when I was the leader of the (first ever) Bizarro Fiction Cinema, which was co-led by Stingray, Skye, and Mayhem. My sixth session of SWC was in March of 2023 when I was the co-leader of the Fantasy Wishing Well, which was led by Lio and also co-led by River. My seventh session of SWC was in July of 2023 when I was the leader of the Script Circus which was co-led by Katie. My eighth session of SWC was in November of 2023 when I was the leader of The Voyages of Folklore, which was co-led by Alex and Bee. My ninth session of SWC was in March of 2024 when I was the leader of the Fanfiction Variance Authority which was co-led by Vi, Bookie, and Nini. My tenth session of SWC was in July of 2024 when I co-lead the Non Fiction Parliament, which was led by Fini and also co-led by Willow and May. My eleventh session of SWc was in November of 2024 when I was a camper in the Steampunk Arcane Lanes which was led by Luna and co-led by Reese and Snowy. And this session is my twelfth session of SWC, and I’m a camper in Illustrated Fiction Across The Spider Verse, which is being led by Mouse and co-led by Ave and Cat. I’m excited for this session!
Besides obviously being an avid participant in SWC, I’m also an active member of other communities on Scratch. I’ve been a camper in SAC, SEC, and TC, and a host of SIC and SRC. I’ve been a manager of several featured studios and a host of one. I’m also an active member of Scratch’s neurodiversity community, running the yearly Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month studios in April and helping with the ADHD month studios in October, as well as being a manager of several of the communities largest year-round studios. I’ve been on Scratch in some capacity for nearly eleven years now on two different main accounts and four different alts, but it would take a lot for someone to bribe out of me the names of most of those accounts.
I suppose I should talk a little bit about what I’m like as an actual human too lol and not focus entirely on things I’ve done on Scratch alone. I’m a genderqueer biromantic asexual seventeen year old enjoying my last month of childhood before I turn eighteen in April. I have diagnosed autism, synesthesia, SPD, and an anxiety disorder, as well as probably ADHD, OCD, and C-PTSD according to myself, family, friends, and medical professionals, but none of those three are officially diagnosed yet. I also have several physical disabilities, including mild haemophilia, scoliosis, and migraines, as well as two or three other things that doctors haven’t managed to put a label to yet. As a result, I’m quite active in disability communities online and in person. I was homeschooled, largely due to these various disabilities, until this year. Currently I’m studying in Grade 12 and hope to graduate this spring and take a gap year before going to university for psychology and English. I do a lot of community-focused activism in my free time, most notably working with OneChild as a member of their Youth Advisory Squad, the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion as a member of their National Youth Ambassador Network, Promise 1000, and the Students’ Commission of Canada, as well as local community-based organizations including youth centres, the local newspaper, initiatives based in my school, and an organization seeking to reduce substance abuse and other risk behaviours in youth by increasing access to community involvement and community services. My other hobbies include writing (obviously), theatre (performing, working behind the scenes, and reviewing) and art forms such as collage, fibre arts, jewelry making, and acrylic painting. I also love music. I don’t have specific genres, styles, or eras of music I like or dislike. In general, I pretty much love everything. I also love social sciences and humanities, with my main interests being in psychology (specifically abnormal psychology), sociology, social psychology, sociolinguistics, modern world history, philosophy, politics, and political geography. I live on a farm in rural Ontario in the EST portion of Canada, on the outskirts of a town of less than a thousand people, about an hour outside of Ottawa, Canada’s capital city. I live with my mom, my two younger siblings, two cats, a dog, a flock of chickens, and at any given time anywhere to ten thousand to several million honeybees. And I still have to write sixty more words and I don’t know what to say so I’ll just mention my undying love of Star Wars, Marvel especially X-Men, Doctor Who, and the Marauders and how much joy both rereading and writing fanfiction for those four fandoms in particular but others more broadly and well and hope that about covers it. I hope you all have an absolutely fantastic March SWC and I can’t wait to get to know any of you that I don’t know already!
Daily 2: Choose 5 Words for a Story
word count - 343 words
words - tree, bird, silver, paint, moon
As the clouds drifted revealing the crescent moon, the cave walls gave off a luminous glow. The silver streaks of paint from a millenia ago still shone brightly, etched into the markings that were from our ancestors. The cave of history, one might call it. But to me, it was more than that. The Wakne'ui voices sang into the night. It was the sound of battle, of a looming darker presence that was to challenge what we knew as fate. Our leaders had prophecies of such a time, but nobody seemed bothered with all these “what ifs”. Why worry about the past, when you have a future to look forward to?
Granita Oak. Our monuement, my home. On its branches I swang as a kid, falling down from time to time, yet still having the courage to pick myself up. I was a reckless kid as most of my aunties would say, but my wits are what have kept me intact to this day. From songs of praise, to echoes of evil, I've seen all, been all, fought all, and conquered. Our battles have proven victorious and I can't see why now, out of all times, people are doubting me. Questioning my strength, my dire passion to keep the flame of vengeance running.
Ocassionally, fate would test my patience but I stood strong. Alone. That's what the life of a great warrior was. My father had told me that I was destined for great things, but do these great things mean I am alone? Is the only way to be “great” to fight the loneliness, and pick yourself up again when no one else will? These are questions I would ask myself as I sat around the burning fire. Embers, flying into the air, lighting up the sky with its magic. It was at these times, the fire bird would come and wreak havoc. After all, peace is all but a perspective, is it not?
1k intro
Today seemed like a normal day. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Some kids were playing make believe on the playground while the older children were playing baseball just as they normally did in the summertime. Everything was great! You pass an alleyway and catch a glimpse of something quite unusual. A light green spark. You wonder if you should walk away but your curiosity gets the best of you and you walk towards it.
You find yourself standing right next to the spark- no. It was some kind of gem or crystal floating in the air. As you reach out to grab it, you wonder how you're going to explain a glowing green crystal floating in the air. As soon as you touch the crystal, it consumes you. You get pulled into a green void with no escape. No way out….
“Welcome to the Sageverse! Or in other words- The World of Your Worst Nightmares! Oops! I suppose I should introduce myself!”
Hello! I’m Sage, a curious kiddo with a lot on her mind✨ I’m a female writer who lives in the Eager Succulent Tyranny (EST)! When I’m not procrastinating, I’m either reading, writing, causing chaos, or practicing for softball, archery, quiz bowl, art club, drama club, chess club, or band! I’m also the Leader of the Mythology Battlefield! This is my second session and I’m leading with Wonderful Willow and Kindest Kat! To have such wonderful co-leaders, I feel like the luckiest leader ever! We’re working hard to give our campers an amazing experience this session!
As I previously mentioned, I LOVE ARCHERY!!!! This is my second year of competing but I'm already killing it! With every practice and competition, I become an even more powerful force to be reckoned with. On Thursday (2/27/25), my coach taught me SO MANY new tips and tricks that today I shot 19 points above my previous personal record. My dad and coaches are SO VERY HELPFUL!!! They have taught me EVERYTHING I know and I owe them all of my success. My four main goals for this archery season is to: Shoot a perfect 50 points, Shoot a perfect 300 if possible, make it to nationals, and HAVE FUN!!! Having fun is one of the main rules in archery and that’s something that I love about it!! My new personal record is 241/300!
I am definitely a bibliophile! Some of my favorite books are Walk Two Moons (Sharon Creech), Keepers of the Lost Cities (Shannon Messenger), The Percy Jackson books (Rick Riordan) and many more! My favorite genres are mystery, fantasy, thriller, historical fiction, and mythology! Before you ask, my favorite type of mythology is definitely Greek or Roman. The books that are on my TBR (To Be Read) list right now are: Keepers of the Lost Cities, Hunger Games, Lord of the RIngs, and Chronicles of Narnia. I have like 50 other books on my To Be Read list but we don’t talk about that.
Band is one of the best parts of my life by far! It makes me so happy and it always gives me something to look forward to. My favorite band activity is easily concerts or pep band! Concerts are SO AWESOME!!! Although we have a Christmas concert and a spring concert at my school, it’s always so fun to play with the whole band and to finally feel recognized! I feel like the band doesn’t get recognized enough for everything they do for the school so it’s amazing when the bleachers are filled to the brim with people just wanting to listen to the band. As for the pep band, it was an amazing experience! It’s actually quite hard to describe because I feel like no words in any dictionary could ever describe how it made me feel. I got to meet so many band kids of all different ages and grades within our school and the seniors made me feel loved and like I belonged among them. Plus we technically got free passes to watch the sportsball (basketball) games. My favorite songs to play in pep band were: Applause by Lady Gaga, Animal by Neon Trees, and Die Young by Ke$ha!
BREAK- IT’S TIME FOR FUN FACTS!!!!
Fun facts:
I’m an all A’s student
I placed fourth in the 2025 spelling bee and am moving on to county on the 7th of March.
This is my second session of Scratch Writing Camp
I LOVE BANANA BALL!!! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! IT IS THE BEST VERSION OF BASEBALL!!! I WISH ALL BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL WERE THAT FUN!!!
I like cookies
Moving on- ✨ drama club! ✨ This is my first year of drama club and I love it SO MUCH! The musical that I’m taking part in is High School Musical and I play the parts and theater kid and skater dude. My favorite songs in the musical are “All in this together” and the audition scene for the theater kids. My favorite part is definitely the choreography because it’s just SO SO SO FUN!!!!
I’m currently listening to Epic: the musical, Linkin Park, Forrest Frank, Josiah Queen, NEEDTOBREATHE, Owl City, Coldplay, Metallica, and Avenged Sevenfold.
My favorite songs are Prodigal and Promised Land (Josiah Queen), The Wisdom Saga, The Vengeance Saga, The Ithaca Saga (Jorge Rivera-Herrans) ANY SONG FROM WICKED, Any song by NEEDTOBREATHE, Heavy is the crown, In the End, and Numb (Linkin Park). SOme honorable mentions are “Roses” “Stick Season” and “Belong together”
My main goal for this SWC session is to give the campers the best session possible! I had the best time ever last session and I just want others to experience exactly what I what I experienced if not better <3 I know it will be quite difficult because of the amount of pure joy I had back in November but I will do the best I can!
“Ah! I’ve been ranting for quite some time haven’t I?” Sage says as you nod, “Sorry, it gets quite lonely over here sometimes. I suppose I shall send you back to your homeland now” before you can reply, you get pulled out of the chaotic dimension.
