And YouTube comments are already full of comment bots. So maybe Scratch could have comment bots if this would be implemented. But unlike YouTube, Scratch may terminate these comment bots.

Scratch has kinda been having comment bots, but the problem would get worse if they implemented this

Note that the thing that makes Youtube Shorts or Tik Tok so popular is that they recommend content based on the user's interests. Out of >164 million projects on Scratch, most are low quality and don't suit a user's interests. Any method that relies on projects being curated by the Scratch Team, or how much users engage with the project (loves, remixes, etc.) will basically be a duplicate of the front page rows.

jokes aside, this would not be a good idea. It would promote the “social media” aspect of Scratch, when Scratch isn't even (meant to, even though it absolutely is unfortunately) be about fame. Scratch is meant to teach people how to code, or help people make projects. “Shorts” would just contribute to the terrible oversaturated content we already deal with on the platform, which I don't think would be good for Scratch.

Must be shorter than 5 minutes. Perhaps add a remix button on the short. Must be a video like project for it to qualify. Anyways, support! Younger kids would want to see short projects!

That's where I land as well. Not all projects have a definitive runtime to the end. So the idea of a “short” really only applies to the subset of projects that do - which the system has no knowledge of.
