14th Daily (Rewriting Book Endings): January 14th, 2025
Prompt: ‘For this daily, all you need is to read a book. Well, you also have to write, of course ;D Is there a book that you wish you could change the ending of? Maybe the love triangle didn't go the way you wanted it to, or maybe someone died, or maybe the city got taken over by the villain. The possibilities are literally endless. For this daily, we're going to be rewriting that ending. You can make it however you want! Just make sure you write 350 words to claim 300 points, and an extra 100 points if you share proof! Have fun!’
Word Count: 418
Note: I’ll be rewriting an ending in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! (*SPOILER* warning for The Hunger Games!)

Today, I’ll be solving the mystery of what really happened to Lucy Gray Baird when she fled from Coriolanus Snow at the end of the book and telling the story a bit from her perspective… (although yes, I do like that Suzanne Collins ended the story on a cliffhanger, I think it was very clever to allude to her still being a mystery <3)
Lucy Gray stumbled through the forest pines, gasping for breath. But she couldn’t stop running or she’d be caught de@d in her tracks by Coriolanus Snow. Boom! Another shot rang out in the so far quiet forest. Boom! Boom! She kept running.
“Lucy Gray!” Coriolanus yelled, “Lucy Gray!”
Lucy Gray ducked behind a tree. She could hear him now, how had he caught up to her? She had to think of something to do to divert him quickly. Afterall, she’d been in the arena, and she knew hiding couldn’t help her forever. Boom!
She froze. He was closer. She inched out from behind the tree, and glanced briefly at wherever the sound was coming from. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was even worse than he appeared, crazy as he was right now, and she knew lying would only lead to more lies. Wouldn’t it? She trembled, trying to forget how he saved her life in the arena. Was it just for his own gains the whole time?
Lucy Gray blinked tears from her eyes. She wouldn’t cry for someone who only cared about themselves. And certainly not someone who lied to her face. She ran out from her hiding spot and nearly tripped over a log. Boom! Every shot sounded like the cannon fire at the start of the hunger games.
10, 9, 8… she kept on running, 7, 6, 5… I’m not in the arena, I’m not in the arena! Every step further from Coriolanus was a step further from the Capitol. She dropped his mother’s scarf. Another few steps ahead. She kept running. Maybe she’d make it to District 13, she laughed to herself. With all the lies that had already been told, she thought it’d be no wonder if it were covered up and told to be a lie after the dark days, anyways.
Boom! Boom! Boom! She could hear Coriolanus’ screams, but she couldn’t care less. He had no empathy for her, why would she for him? He was trying to hit her. She couldn’t run anymore. She ducked behind another tree, and she looked up, closing her eyes and breathing in and out.
She opened her eyes as the shadow of a bird flew between the branches up in the leaves. Mockingjays. She smiled slightly as she began to sing, “Are you, are you, coming to the tree?”
Sooner or later the birds began to whistle along with her, and she continued running until she made it to District 13.

15th Daily (Tubular Poems): January 15th, 2025
Prompt: ‘Today's daily is super fun and easy, too! We're taking today to focus on poetry. All you have to do is complete at least 3 of the following tasks using at least 200 words in order to claim 150 points! Share your poems for an extra 50 points. But here's the catch- all of your tasks have to include the word “tubular”. Haaaave funnnn! ;D
1. Write an acrostic poem
2. Write a sonnet
3. Write a haiku
4. Write an ode
5. Write a limerick’
Word Count: 217

Acrostic Poem:
Tubular turtles lounging on the beach.
One jumps into the water, it’s Gurtle the turtle!
The turtle, Gurtle, swims to the land of SWC.
And somehow ends up in the land of JWC.
Little silly Gurtle, how mischievous a turtle.
Link-stealing, and mango eating.
You wonder how he arrived in JWC.
(+51 words!)

Limerick Poem:
Tubular turtle Gurtle eating links and mangoes on the beach,
Sits up from his beach chair and gets up to preach
‘Thank you SWC, but I must confess,’
‘I never made such a horrible mess.’
‘Such as eat the tubular mangoes or the links!’ Gurtle screeched.
(+46 words!)

Haiku Poem:
Tubular turtles
But only Gurtle eats links
As he eats mangoes
(+11 words!)

Ode Poem:
Oh Gurtle the turtle,
May you always be tubular,
And may you always eat links,
Or mangoes when you can.

For Gurtle the turtle,
You are totally tubular,
When you decide to invade camps,
Other than SWC.

Because the writer couldn’t bother,
To think of any more ideas,
Other than something about turtles,
And something about tubular Gurtle.

Since they thought it’d be funny,
To reintroduce an old SWC mascot,
Instead of actually putting in much effort,
Because they didn’t have much time to write.

Oh Gurtle the turtle,
I hope you always get blamed,
For eating links and mangoes,
Because you are still one of my favorite mascots.

16th Daily (In My – Era): January 16th, 2025
Prompt: ‘We're focusing on you today! As you probably know, Taylor Swift made the term “in my ____ era” popular. Today we're going to talk about what era you're in! Take whatever era you're in- maybe it's speech, music, sports, cats, etc- and write about it. What is your era? What do you do? How do you act? Are you proud of their era? Write about it! To claim 100 points, write 200 words! Get an extra 100 points for sharing.’
Word Count: 227
Era Chosen: Filmmaking Era

If I had to decide any era that I would be in, I’d probably be right now in my filmmaking era, since I’m doing a lot involved in filmmaking right now and I’m currently working on, (not only a book that I’ve debated remaking an audiobook series on Scratch), but another little script for a miniseries I’ve been wanting to create for a while. Along with that, I’ve also been working on a short little mini film called The Tale of the Tunnel, (abbreviated TTOTT), which is based on one of my first short stories that I ever wrote. Filmmaking has always been something that I’ve really enjoyed doing, and so I’ve taken up more opportunities to improve this year in filmmaking, directing, acting, and writing scripts this year, because I want to improve different aspects of my filmmaking skills. I really hope to share some more of my work sometime in the future too, maybe on Scratch!
That being said, there are a lot of old stories I’ve started and I’ve been meaning to maybe get around to writing, (or rather rewriting), again, (such as a bunch of ideas I’ve had like The Glow, The Seven Trials, The Red Hour, Sunfall, and numerous others). But right now, I’m mostly focusing on just my book series, my short film TTOTT, and my miniseries script that I’m writing.

18th Daily (Haircut Scenes): January 18th, 2025
Prompt: ‘Characters change–that's practically the core of every story we write about them! Can you think of a dramatic moment showcasing character development in one of your favorite stories? Maybe they've done something they swore that they'd never do, or they finally open up to another character. Today, you'll be writing your very own dramatic character change moment–but! there's a catch… the character must cut their hair as their moment ;D it's up to you to come up with the reason this is significant; maybe it's an act of rebellion or maybe it's simply a symbol of a bigger change happening inside. For whatever reason, write 350 words of a dramatic haircut scene for 300 points–and you can earn yourself 50 additional points if you share proof!!’
Word Count: 352

Note: This is sort of based off one of my own experiences in real life! xD

Lizzie bites her lip as she holds up the school scissors to her long, wavy brown hair. Just a few more inches. It’s so satisfying when it falls to the floor. “Lizzie!” The teacher shrieks.
Snip! Too late. Lizzie sulks back into her chair. The teacher continues, “We don’t cut our hair in class!”
“Why? It’s so satisfying! Look, my hair is so short!” Lizzie runs her little hand through the now extremely short side of her now uneven hair.
Lizzie’s classmates giggle, and she grins. The teacher rolls her eyes, and says in more of a sweet tone, “Lizzie, could you please hand me the scissors?”
“Do you want me to do it for you?” Lizzie asks earnestly.
“Do what?” The teacher frowns.
“Cut your hair for you?” Lizzie raises her eyebrows and smiles.
“No- no thank you Lizzie!” The teacher tries regaining their temper, “No, Lizzie, you have to understand, I wasn’t asking for the scissors back so I could cut my own hair! I was asking for you to return them to me, because you should not be cutting your hair in class!”
Lizzie drops her eyes to the floor, “Oh. I’m sorry miss. Does my hair at least look good?”
“Of course not,” the teacher seethes.
The class laughs. Lizzie’s eyes begin to water. “I didn’t mean it like that,” the teacher sighs.
“What did you mean?” Lizzie wipes away tears.
“I mean, you need a professional haircutter, okay?”
“But I can cut the other side myself!”
“No, I mean, Lizzie you’re in kindergarten, and while you’re in class, you shouldn’t- you can’t, cut your own hair, do you understand?”
“Why?”
“Because, Lizzie! It- honestly honey, just ask yourself that question in a few years. I promise you-”
Snip! Lizzie beams, “There! Does that look any better, Mrs. Jones?”
“Yes sweetie,” Mrs. Jones forcefully smiles, “it’s looks so much better-”
“Here you go!” Lizzie hands over the scissors to Mrs. Jones.
“Thank you,” Mrs. Jones sighs, “please don’t cut your hair in class again, okay?”
“Alright, Mrs. Jones! I will!” Lizzie laughs and smiles.
“Brilliant,” Mrs. Jones groans.

19th Daily (Double Lives): January 19th, 2025
Prompt: ‘Most stories have a protagonist and an antagonist or a hero and a villain. Perhaps it is a superhero fighting a supervillain, a school situation with a bully, or enemies in war. Now what would happen if these enemies had double lives, where in one they were friends and in the other, they were at each other's throats. Write a story of at least 350 words about two characters with double lives, who happen to know each other in both lives, yet have completely opposite relationships in each life. Perhaps it is a superhero and a supervillain who are college roommates, who hide the secret of their crime fighting or crime doing life. Or perhaps the boss they hate is their best friend over the internet. The options are numerous! Complete this for 300 points for your cabin. For an extra 50 points, share your story in the comments!’
Word Count: 385

Note: For this, I definitely took inspiration from Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and the whole idea of dissociative identity disorder (DID), and explored the concept of feeling like you’re waking up in the wrong body every day, in the wrong place.

I had the strangest feeling that I somehow lived in two places at once. I’m not kidding. Because whenever I woke up, I’d end up in a different, but yet somehow oddly familiar house with no clue in the slightest how I’d ended up there. One, somewhere in the quietest countryside I’ve ever even seen, and the other in the center of the largest city in the country. And everytime, I wake up in a totally different body.
It’s always been a mystery to me. I wake up one morning, and go to school, the teachers always asking me where I’ve been, and by this point they assume I’m just skipping when I can assure you, I’m. The next morning, I’m filing files in the dullest, grayest, most boring office ever doing the most mindless task, and for what point? I’ll just end up in a different body the next morning. Doing the job of a student. While the next morning I’ll be back, doing whatever dull job I for some reason need to do in the office.
And yet, the same person is always there. In my other body. One morning, they’re my school teacher, and the next, they’re interning in my office. Somehow, they’re always there. Somehow, they’re always here. Either they’re an enemy, or they are me. It’s the weirdest thing, and it scares me that I haven’t found a way to just wake up in the same place on the same day in the same body… like why is someone in my body?!
This morning, I choose to sleep in. When I wake up, I stuff my face underneath my soft downy pillow and shut my eyes, pretending I can’t hear anything. I can’t hear my alarm clock blaring at me to get up. I can’t hear the cars outside my window honking in the crowded streets. I can’t… I slowly take the pillow off of my head and scan the room in anxious anticipation. I was here yesterday. No, I was here yesterday!
I jump up out of bed and rush to the window. It’s the quietest street in the world, in the quietest countryside in the world… I turn around slowly as the room turns into my office worker’s bedroom. Well, now I’m officially in two places at once.

20th Daily (Video Games): January 20th, 2025
Prompt: ‘Video games are all the rage these days. Whether it is on a console, a phone, or a computer, very few people have not played an online game. Today, we are going to combine the joys of writing with the entertainment of a video game. Write a story with a video game as the key component in your writing. Perhaps it's the setting of the story (have you ever wanted to live in Minecraft?) or a game that plays the central aspect of the plot, a video game must be a major part of your story. Write 250 words for 100 points, and an extra 150 if you share ❤️’
Word Count: 315

Note: Yes, this is inspired by Jumanji. <3

“I found an old arcade machine in your uncle’s attic, and thought maybe it’d be a good idea if we check it out,” my older cousin, Duncan, exclaims.
I frown, crossing my arms, “I don’t think that’s the best idea.”
“Why not?” He laughs.
“Because my uncle doesn’t want us going up there, he says it’s off limits,” I sigh.
“Oh, come on Reese! It’s just an old Pac Man arcade game,” Duncan makes for the ladder up to the attic.
I groan, and follow suit. It’s not like I’ve not been desperately bored out of my mind today, anyways. We have no plans and haven’t done anything yet, and it’s almost 2:00 in the afternoon. Imagine, we get sucked into a video game or something. That’d be funny.
As we reach the top of the ladder, Duncan scans the attic and bolts off into one corner and out of eyesight. I don’t know why my uncle’s attic is so huge, but even I’m terrified I could get lost in here. It’s also freezing, too. “Found it!” Duncan calls back to me.
I drag my feet over to where Duncan is. He’s always been more of a video gamer than I’ve ever been, but Pac Man should be easy enough to play. “Do you have any spare coins on you?” Duncan asks me eagerly.
I shrug and search my jean pockets, “I have a Pac Man pin from 1980. Heh, that’s rather ironic.”
“That could work,” Duncan grins as he inserts the pin into the arcade machine coin slot.
That’s when the world started glowing, and everything seemed to start getting, well, oddly and strangely pixelated. In one quick flash, I glanced around my uncle’s attic, and to my surprise, Duncan was more pixelated than he’d before. Uh oh. “Welcome to 1980s Pac Man, now, who’s ready to play, run away from the ghosts?!

17th Daily (Allies or Enemies): January 17th, 2025
Prompt: ‘What would happen if you were to set foot into your ally's cabin? What about your enemy's? Today we're writing about it! Write two short stories about going into your ally and your enemy's cabins. These two stories must be at least 200 words each and 400 words total in order to claim 300 points! Have fun! Share your piece for 100 extra points!’
Word Count: 450
Ally Cabin: Joker
Enemy Cabin: Adventure

Note: Yes the short title I chose for this is a reference to The Crane Wives! xD <3 (also this was finished late 1/21/2025 ^^’ - and yes, it does happen during Cabin Wars )

JOKER
Soft jaunty music and footsteps echo through the Joker Cabin as I step inside a red and white striped tent. “You made us lose 750 points during Cabin Wars,” a voice states annoyedly from behind me.
I whip around to face a girl wearing a top hat and a bright red tailcoat glaring at me, “We’re supposed to be allies? Right?”
I shrug, “Well, siblings fight sometimes.”
“That doesn’t help the situation,” another girl groans as they step out of the shadows.
“Okay, but to be far, I wasn’t the one who warred you. It was another person in our cabin. Some of us campers didn’t have a choice in whether or not we went to war with you, or not,” I sigh.
“You still didn’t do anything to help,” the girl in the top hat and tailcoat crosses her arms.
“Yeah, and most of us were sleeping, it was super unfair,” the other girl frowns.
I try to think of another excuse, “Well, we were sleeping too and you went ahead and warred us again.”
“After you warred us!” One of the Jokers rolls their eyes.
“So why are you here, then?” The other Joker groans.
I sigh, “I come to make amends.”
“We’ll only make amends once you’ve lost a war too,” one of them says spitefully.
“Yup, come back to us once you’ve lost a war,” the other agrees.

ADVENTURE
As I step in the Adventure Cabin, the fragrant smell of the jungle draws me in closer, and closer through the dense forest. Once I hear something crunching on leaves among the plant life, I clutch my bow and survey the scene. Nothing but trees and green as far as I can see from where I am. I inch closer to the bush slowly, pointing at wherever the crunching sound seems to be coming from. More crunching from behind me. I flick around to face, oh, just a turtle. ‘What’s a turtle doing in the jungle?’ I mutter.
“He’s probably a stowaway from another cabin,” a girl appears behind me.
“Either that, or another camp,” another girl smiles cheekily.
I grin. “What are you doing here?” One of the girls asks.
“Phantom wants to do another cabin war with you guys again,” I sigh, then smile awkwardly.
One of the girls sighs and puts her arms across her chest, “Really? We already finished up with one war just a few minutes ago. One of your cabinmates was already here.”
“We already wrote 5,000 words,” the other girl points out frustratedly.
I back away slowly, “Sorry! I’ll just- oh wait, I’m kind of lost.”
The Adventurers smirk. “Maybe we should war you,” one of them grins.

21st Daily (Incorporating Art): January 21st, 2025
Prompt: ‘Writing and art are two very similar topics, and many of the themes in each of them blend into each other. Today, take a piece of art and use any part of it, the theme, the emotions you feel when you look at it, the characters, and incorporate it into your writing! You can claim 300 points for this daily if you write 350 words, and an extra 50 if you show proof! How do you interpret art?’
Word Count: 361

Note: This story is inspired by The Starry Night painting by Vincent Van Gogh. <3

The sky is gorgeous, almost like a painting, right now over the quiet town. Standing on the edge of the midnight blue hill that slides down into the valley where an array of little fairy lights blink in the sky above makes it all the more mesmerizing. The wind carries the dewdrops of an artist’s dream along with the passion just above the horizon line, in swirls of different shades of blue. A tall fuzzy bush stands high, like the world’s tallest skyscraper, cutting nicely into the display of colors. Part of me wonders how I got here.
And then, I realize I’m on the outside of such a pretty scene, staring at a place that I’d love to actually be. Analyzing the artwork of such a wonderfully talented artist, trying to determine what they meant by this piece. It’s just beautiful. Celestial. And then, I recall that I’m writing a book about astrology and this could definitely help inspire me. A million strokes of a brush, a million interpretations.
If I look at it upside down, what could I see? If I look at it from a distance, what can I see? If I look at it from the side, would the painting vanish entirely? Leaving just a blank wall, and a couple of ideas floating around in my head? There are so many different ways to view it.
I position myself to the side of the painting, staring at it head on. An infinite void of absolutely nothing from this angle, becomes almost the equivalent of peeking into another universe when you look at it from the front. But in the terms of a book, you have to look in so many different angles, different directions too. You can’t look at it in always the same light. I put a hand over one of my eyes. Interesting. I take my hand off of my eye, and put the other hand on my other eye.
“Come on, Penelope, let’s go you’ve been staring at the painting for hours, in such creepy ways,” my sister groans, snapping me right back to reality.
Oh right. It’s almost after hours in this museum.

23rd Daily (Apples): January 23rd, 2025
Prompt: ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away! At least, that's how the saying goes. Today's daily is going to be all about apples. There are over 7500 different kinds of apples. For this daily, pick out any kind of apple. Look into its name, color, taste, and characteristics, such as where it is grown, how it is grown, and more. Then, write something inspired by your apple of choice. Perhaps you have a character named Honey Crisp, who has a sweet personality but can be a bit tart at times. Or perhaps you'll write about a strange city where everyone is sour called Smith's Land. Write 300 words about your apple for 200 points, 100 more if you share!’
Word Count: 336

Note: This kind of turned out to be just such like a children’s book fairytale story haha! xD

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, they say. When Red Delicious was born, many would say, “Red Delicious, you’re going to grow up to be just as delicious an apple as your father, Golden Delicious.”
But for years, Red Delicious didn’t want to be just like his father and refused to believe their words. Red Delicious didn’t want to be a delicious apple. As a matter of fact, he didn’t want to be eaten, just like his father had been after he was born. So when he was ripe enough an apple, he fell down from the apple tree and tumbled down the hills until he reached a river. From there, he rolled into the river and was carried downstream until he met another apple, an older apple, Granny Smith, who’d managed to so far go their entire life without being eaten. Red Delicious humbly asked Granny Smith for advice on how he too, could live such a long life without being eaten like his late father, Golden Delicious. Granny Smith replied honestly, “I’ve just been lucky, honey.”
Red Delicious refused to let those be the only guiding words he’d receive, and begged for further clarification, “But, Granny Smith, is there a way to survive without simply luck?”
But before Red Delicious could finish his request, Granny Smith was carried off by a hungry stork and flew off into the distance, never to be eaten again. Red Delicious, shocked and anxious, continued down the river until he reached another apple, Cameo, who simply stated, “I’m only here to make an appearance in this story to break the fourth wall and add more words to this random story that this author is writing.”
And to that, Red Delicious said, “Okay then, I’ll just be on my way.”
But he wouldn’t be on his way because just then something reached down and picked him up, and took a bite. And thus ended the story of Red Delicious, a truly delicious apple just like his late father.

Synopsis: This is actually a poem I wrote for my creative writing class, but I really enjoyed writing it and thought it was something I’d love to share! <3
Word Count: 230

Author’s Note: This is a poem I originally wrote for my creative writing class, where we were sort of tasked to write a repetitive poem about where we see ourselves 20 years into the future. Initially, I was going to write a short narrative for the prompt, but ended up writing this poem because I felt the phrase I’d written that I wanted to repeat was just so much different than explaining where I’d want to be in the future. The further it gets from the time I wrote this poem, the more it’s begun to mean more to me. The world doesn’t quiet itself for you, became more than just seeing what I’d like to have 20 years into the future, and more a poem about resilience and hope for the future, rather than stalling on what is unknown or what has caused me to fail time and time again, and the worries that those same struggles would just hold me back again. Thank you so much for reading this if you have, and I really hope you enjoy the poem! <3

The world doesn’t quiet itself for you
(a repetitive poem written by @HermioneVoiceActress)

The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Though you want things you can’t have,
And you try to catch falling stars,
While dragging your feet through dreams,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Your voice is loud,
But maybe not loud enough,
Drowned out by the beauty of it all,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Your small time hobby,
A few stars and a few goals away,
Pays off when you write your book, and yet,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Though you run into street, after street,
Debating who’ll you’ll meet next,
Struggling to gather your thoughts,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Though you dance through the world,
With a cup of tea,
And a notebook filled with dreams,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
And finally, you reach your full potential,
All the stars finally align for you,
And you’re running with the seabreeze,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Not yet, you think,
Not done yet with your goals,
You keep reaching for the stars,
And the world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Every ounce of strength,
Every pinprick of joy,
You keep chasing the vision further and further,
And the world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
Until at last,
You’re lain to rest,
On a bed of smiles and laughter,
The world doesn’t quiet itself for you.
