I know Arch Linux is very small, around half gigabyte fresh from pacstrap (mainly because it is pretty bare bones, and that's an understatement) are there any linux distro thingies that are smaller than windows because im gtired of windows taking a quarter of my hard drive

Arch is really small, but it's not the simplest thing to set up even with archinstall. I used Manjaro before, and it's actually very good but it's probably pretty big sowhats a small but good one(#257)Most of them.

Search up “Tux in the ring”. It's a video where Tux (Linux mascot) and a random butterfly (Window$) are in a boxing match.

The smallest I know of is are there any linux distro thingies that are smaller than windows because im gtired of windows taking a quarter of my hard drive Tiny SliTaz which can be as small as 800 KB but it's only usable though a live USB and meant for older computers
The 2nd smallest is Zorin_OS which is about 15 GB and is actually installable

I assume you meant 15MB? -snip-
The 2nd smallest is Zorin_OS which is about 15 GB and is actually installable
Because I have Linux distros that are a whole lot smaller than 15GB.

They probably did mean 15 GB. Zorin OS is definitely not lightweight, debian is around 10 GB. DSL is the smallest usable distro I know of at ~650 MB.I assume you meant 15MB? -snip-

EDIT: the forum filter replaced part of the name with a *, i didn't know it could do that.

hmmm, I'm gonna install arch on a old chromebook, this should be as straightforward as it was my last install!
Cue me opening up the laptop to remove a screw just so I could wipe the hard drive after two hours of troubleshooting

Day 2 of doing LFS:
When ppl say that this is “the hardest distro to install” what they really mean is that it's the most time consuming. The only “hard” part I've encountered so far is partitioning and mounting as the book doesn't have a copy-paste command for it (plus I already installed arch so I knew how to do it) It's been fun so far tho! Makes me appreciate that we do most of this automatically now cuz I am so tired of typing
tar -xvf somepackage
cd somepackage
./configure
make
make install
cd ..
rm -Rf somepackage
Over and over again

Day 3 of LFS:
Most of the time spent on this is testing the packages I'm installing, because I'm doing this of an old computer it takes a VERY long time to do anything. I mean hell, testing GCC took up most of my time yesterday (like the whole afternoon) but because I gotta help with Holliday stuff (and I'm very burnt out) I'll be taking a three day break before starting back up again on this beast of a project
