Ehh, I feel like this could turn Scratch into a more ‘social media oriented’ direction than it needs to be, no support
And? Scratch should just turn into a social media website centered on programming, that is what almost everyone sees it as. If Scratch isn't social media, it wouldn't have:
- Comments
- Hearts
- Favorites
- Follows

bumping this cuz I already made a similar topic to this
this is what I wrote in the first post of the topic that I made:
I have a suggestion for Scratch. Maybe the website could make a recommended page either as part of the home page or a separate page itself. It would work a lot like the recommended page/homepage on YouTube, which uses an algorithm to suggest video recommendations based on other things you have watched and/or liked. The hypothetical Scratch algorithm would work in a similar way, recommending projects similar to projects a Scratcher has viewed, loved, and/or favorited.
This could benefit Scratch through helping unseen Scratchers having their projects seen. The YT algorithm sometimes recommends videos that are similar to what you've watched and liked, but aren't that popular and/or seen. This algorithm is sometimes the cause of popularity for an unseen YouTuber. If this was applied to Scratch, it would benefit both the project viewer (by seeing projects based on their project interests) and the project creator (by having their projects seen by others and perhaps making them popular).
I hope this suggestion is accepted! If not, I'm okay with that.

A) How would Scratch detect whether you like content? Not everyone bothers to press the love or favourite button. Would this be a sort of algorithm similar to what TikTok has?

B) I support this, but I don't think it will be implemented because it adds nothing to the educational value of Scratch. That is the reason why an indicator that shows when a user is online and when not was rejected. It would allow people to see more projects, and they can learn from these projects.

How would it work? Would it suggest projects based on their tags, or which users have viewed them?

The trending page and the homepage already aren't that reliable. If it works like the YouTube recommended page, then there will probably be a lot of issues

I have a good algorithm…
1 project of a tag/keyword that is in many projects you've loved/faved (besides category tags).
1 random RATED FE project.
1 project of someone you follow.
