developers please download and install Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. The “express” version is free.
N-O!
I would rather use the GCC compiler!
Yeah…. GCC with C#?

I'd be happy to help, I have Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012. If you need it, my github username is lolzballs.

Another thing, if people don't have a visual studio license, they can get the express version for free. Also, are we making a Metro app, or a classic Windows desktop app which is “Windows 8 Style”(kinda like the github for windows style)?
Metro.

Remember when I looked like this? I still do.

Wouldn't it require just a text editor?
You still have to use VS. What's the big deal? You can get VS Express for free.
And it will be fully compatible with surface, because you can't download from websites, only the app store.
Can't do that either with HTML5.
Yes, but you can put it on a free website server.
AND it wouldn't require the user to download VS
*sigh* THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE METRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember when I looked like this? I still do.

Should I rename the topic? People aren't getting the purpose of this.

Yes, a metro app can be coded in HTML5!

What's the big deal? Metro apps are coded in HTML5, but you will need to get the compiler to compile the app. Using visual studio for this is better as you do not need to setup the compiler.

So let me explain this to you guys.
You have 2 options when making a metro app. One is, the layout is in XAML, and the programming is in C#/C++/VB. The other is, the design is in HTML5 and the programming is in JavaScript. Get it now?

I can help, I have Windows 8 and Visual Studio Express for Windows 8, and a developer license.
However, I would only be able to program it in HTML5/Javascript as I don't know C# either. (I do recommend the HMTL5 version)

I would like to be a developer. I have win 8 with Visual Studio 2012 professional. I also know C#.
Oh yay! How much C# do you know?
Quite a bit, but I wouldn't consider myself an expert.
I'm not sure if you guys realize this, but in order to make a win 8 app, you need a dev license and those are really expensive.
What? I have a developer licence and it was free.
