Continue flying past the tribe
Was this tribe really one to trust? You shook your head and gilded over the kingdom. Your stomach was killing you, but you had to keep going… your eyelids started getting heavy…
It was like you were floating through a cloud, back with your family before the war started, sinking through the blazing hot sand… falling to your own demise. The wind blew against your temples and ears, and you could see the mountains below!
It was a great view, with the mountains getting closer and closer…

Continuation: Arriving at the SandWing tribe
Slowly, the kingdom forms in front of your eyes. It was nothing like before; the lack of the bustling crowds and excited SandWing dragonets playing was a shock to your eyes. Why did you agree to this?
To your left was the SandWing stronghold, shimmering and glistening like before. The guards dragged you in through the doors, probably to meet Burn. You could remember a lot about the stronghold, and bad memories of it flooded your brain. What if she recognized you? She had to… you must've been the only one who had abandoned her during battle so cruelly.
Staring at the floor, the guards took you through many halls until you saw the talons of an enormous dragon with yellow scales that shone like the horizon. Slowly, your eyes inch up the dragon until you see it. Burn. She looks unrecognizable, with scars and burns all over her face, and a particularly extreme burn under her left wing. She glared at you. Her eyes had no speck of white in them; they were pure black.
“This is Cacti, your majesty,” snarled Scar, gripping you in the arm. Drought stepped ahead and mumbled something to Burn.
Burn inspected you cautiously. “Why don’t we just kill them?” She grunted.
Drought mumbled again. Burn laughed. “You?” she clenched her teeth. “Let’s see what you got.”
Bewildered, you didn’t know what to do until Drought nudged you. “A duel with Burn. She might ask you to join her army. Don’t worry, she’s not going to kill you. Hopefully. ”

Fight Burn in a duel
Burn cracks her knuckles and breathes fire at your face, cackling. You dodge her just in time and claws outstretched, get ready to snap her bones. She ducks and fire is blasted into the side of your face.
Rolling over, you pant. She’s clawing towards you crazily. There was no way you were going to beat her, and you had already made her mad enough she might kill you. It was too late to quit… which tactic will you choose?
a) both of you get a sword/dagger
b) keep going without weapons

Refuse to fight Burn
“Um…” you stutter. “I don’t think I’m ready for a fight…”
Burn looks unaffected. “No?” You see Scar sighing and Drought shaking his head furiously in the corner.
“Perfect.” Before you can blink or make a run for it, Burn quickly lunges at you, and slashes your throat, laughing. You shriek, not in pain, but in shock.
Burn curls her tail. She throws herself at you again, and you pant, struggling for air. This couldn’t be. They were just going to let her kill you?
You furiously struggle against her strong talons. Burn pins you down.
She stabs her tail down on your heart. You breathe heavily, vision going fuzzy. You close your eyes, and the last thing you see is Burn’s murderous expression…

Fight each other with swords and daggers
TW!!!! Blood, fighting (if uncomfortable with, skip to the end)
Spinning around, you pick up a long sword on the stand behind you, and Burn swipes up a dagger and darts.
Burn flings two darts at you, one narrowly sniping your shoulder. You wince and leap up with your sword. Burn jumps and stabs you with the dagger, right in the arm, and blood splatters all over the place. Gripping your wound, you fall to the ground and yell. No one speaks a word. No one is shocked.
“Pathetic,” Burn spat. “What potential lies in you?”
“Finish them off!” Scar chanted. Burn raised her weapon, but you rolled away. Picking up one of Burn’s darts swiftly, you throw aimlessly at what seems to be Burn. You can’t see much from all the blood in your eyes.
She swings her tail, but you get up, shaking.
You throw your dagger at Burn blindly. It stabs her right in the shoulder. Burn shrieks, and lunges at you. “Nice try,” she hissed, pouncing. “Guards!”
Several SandWing guards surround you and pin you to the floor. Drought’s voice sounds bewildered. “I thought this was a chance to find a new member of the team?”
Out of the corner of your bleeding eye, you see Burn glaring at them as the guards chain you up. “If you want to support this midget, do so. You’ll be in the same position they are in.” Her eyes turned back to you, indifferent.
The guards stretch your arms and head to fit into the chains. Stumbling, you are dragged to a dark place, voices of moaning, hurt dragons echoing off every corner.

Keep fighting without weapon
You were never good with weapons—plus, it would’ve been more dangerous to have Burn holding a knife in your face.
Snatching your tail, face scrunched in a position between scared and disgusted, you lunge towards Burn. She gives a nonchalant grunt and you feel an appalling burn. Your tail was being burnt to a crisp by Burn’s flamethrower mouth. A scream escapes from your mouth and you nearly poison yourself with your own tail. Complete silence. No one speaks a word—no one is shocked.
“Pathetic,” Burn spat. “What potential lies in you?”
“Finish them off!” Scar chanted. You get up quickly, wincing from the terrible pain that shot through your every vein. Your fire shoots right into Burn’s ugly face.
The silence was ringing in your ears. “I knew it,” a voice whispered. “You thought you could fight me.” A face pushed through the smoke, gray and red, and you noticed an additional amount of blisters on Burn’s cheeks. She grabbed a dagger, and you found yourself backing up quickly.
“Excuse me, your majesty.”
The fiery look in Burn’s eyes faded as she snapped her head towards Drought. “What do you want, scoundrel?”
“This dragon has found a way to burn you. Imagine how useful they would be in battle.”
Burn flickered her tongue. “True, Drought. But I’m the queen here. So shut your mouth or you’ll end up like them.” She looked at you and squinted for a while. “You look… WHO IS THIS?!”
Everyone jumped back. Burn scowled.
“This is Cacti, your majesty,” one of the guards hissed.
“Hmmm…” Burn hissed. “They look familiar.” She studies you closely. “Out of my years of fighting, I never saw a rookie burn me before.” She flicked her tail.
You try not to mention that you used to have years of battle experience before you left her.
“Imagine what you’ll do when you have proper training.” She flicked her tongue. “You, show them where new soldiers train.”
Drought obeyed her orders and told you to follow them.
“Good job,” he said. You nodded. Perhaps you should get some scars just in case Burn ever recognized you…

Continuation: In the Dungeons
You hiss at the bars, and try to squeeze through them, unable to. A dragon next to your cell snarled.
“That won’t help,” they said. You couldn’t see their face, only their silhouette. Their voice sounded feminine.
“Who are you?” You were shocked by your angry attitude.
“I want to know what you’re doing here,” The mystery dragon responded.
“I angered Burn,” You responded, gripping the bars. “What about you?”
“Prisoner of war. I fought with Blister,” The dragon responded. Their shadow lingered and you tried to tilt your head to see them.
“Were you a good soldier?” You ask, struggling with the chains. Not that you cared, really. You were just bored.
“I was one of the best.” The dragon said. “Such a shame that I’m here.” You hear a sharp clanging sound. “Where are you from?”
“An oasis.” You said, not exactly telling the full truth. “What’s your name?”
“Arroyo. You?”
You sighed. “Cactus.”
You didn’t even know who you were anymore. Were you the brave, shy Cactus who revolved around staying put in your hut, or were you Cacti, a prisoner who had fought Burn?
“Welcome to the dungeon, Cacti.” Arroyo said.
You smiled, then realized that Arroyo probably couldn’t see you. You curled up and slept on the dungeon floor.
You woke up, light pouring in from your cell window. In the daylight, you were finally able to see what Arroyo looked like. She had pale yellow scales, with a few golden scales scattered around her. She was peeking into your cell, beckoning for you to come to her.
She hushed you and whispered. “I’ve been looking for someone to escape with for a long time. All of the other prisoners are fools. Are you ready?”
You know you could make a foolish choice here. If you accept, you could die. But if you stay, you rot.

b) say no

Land in the IceWing Kingdom
You land in the IceWing Kingdom, getting hit with a blast of cold air. In the distance, you see a looming fortress. Not exactly very inviting.
You walk to the biggest door and knock. A SandWing, pale and golden, opens the door with a fur coat on.
Blaze’s lair. You hug your wings.
“What do you want?” The SandWing gruffed. He was wearing a fur coat.
“I wanted to talk to Blaze,” You improvised, teeth chattering.
The SandWing narrowed his eyes. “Why?”
You clawed away some hail on your forehead. “I have news. About Burn. Please,” You cried.
The SandWing narrowed his eyes. “You look familiar. What’s your name?”
“Cactus,” You said, deciding they needed to earn your trust with your real name.
The SandWing hissed and his eyes widened. “YOU!”
You stepped back, having war flashbacks of everyone you hurt.
“That’s why your face was so familiar,” the SandWing snarled. “Cactus. Your name is an insult in my family.”
“What do you mean?” You asked, panicking.
“Don’t you remember?” He huffed. “You killed my brother. My best friend. I had always wanted to seek revenge if I ever had the chance.” The SandWing lunged towards your throat, and you collapsed.

Stay in the Mudwing Kingdom
You saw a crocodile wading in the swamps. You quickly leap on it, too overcome by the desire to fill up your hunger. To your surprise, you were able to strike it.
You quickly ate the crocodile, when you heard footsteps. You instinctively jumped, then ran to a mangrove tree where you hid.
Five MudWings walked to the location where you were. They were whispering intensely.
“We should leave this place,” The first MudWing whispered. She was the biggest of them all, with dark orange scales and pale brown highlights.
“We can’t,” the second MudWing hushed. He was a fair-toned MudWing, with freckles of orange along his spine.
“We’ll be fugitives,” another agreed. She was almost identical to the second MudWing, except she had freckles of yellow-brown along her spine.
“So?” The fourth protested. “We’ll die if we don’t leave.” He was the second biggest dragon with mostly dark orange scales, except for the occasional grayish-yellow scales scattered on his body.
The fifth one started crying, and the fourth MudWing tried to comfort her. “It’s okay, Salina,” he said. “Everything will be fine.”
“Delta,” The second MudWing said to the first one. “We can’t just abandon Queen Moorhen.”
“Did you not hear what I just said?” The fourth one snapped. “We will die. Clod!”
“It’s better to be loyal than cowardly,” The third one said.
“And it’s better to be alive then dead, Ecru,” The fourth one hissed.
“Delta,” Ecru pleaded to the first MudWing. “We can’t leave.”
“We absolutely can!” The fourth MudWing snapped again.
“Pecan, please calm down.” Delta calmly. “Although he does have a point, Ecru. We could die. And I, as the BigWing, refuse to let any of you perish in battle.”
“But-” Clod stuttered. “But-but Delta!”
“Enough,” Delta said, not unkindly. “We will leave. In the morning.”
They kept prattling. You decided to walk towards the MudWings. They jumped at the sight of you. You take a deep breath. This wasn’t one of your best ideas. “Take me with you.” You said, pleading.
“I-I-why?” Delta asked. “Why were you listening to us? Who are you?”
“I want to help you,” You answered, ignoring the other questions. “Please.”
Pecan hissed. “Suspicious.” Salina whined, and he tried to comfort her again.
You could tell the MudWings wanted no harm. “Where are you from? Who are you” Delta asked, studying you.
“I fled. From Burn.” You responded. “I’m Cactus.” You trusted them with your real name.
Delta stared at you for a long time, then finally said, “Okay. Come to our home. We’ll leave in the morning.”
“What about now?” You suggested hopefully. You were afraid of some of the MudWings recognizing you if you stayed, even for one night.
“Maybe now…” Delta glanced up, dreamily. “Okay. We’re leaving.” She spread her wings, and the rest of the MudWings, and you, followed her.

Fly to the SeaWings
Flying to the SeaWings was safer. What if someone from the Mud Kingdom recognized you and turned you over to Burn? They are allies, after all.
You flew to the Sea Kingdom, knowing you had no idea where to go. The SeaWings had a Deep Palace, under the sea, a place that you couldn’t go as you can’t breathe underwater. There was also the Summer Palace, above land, but no one knows where that lies.
You flapped your wings as fast as you could, with two talons carrying the bag of food. You had to try, now that you’re replenished with energy.
You flew over small islands, wondering if you should land there, when a spear swooshed by you.
You look down, paranoid. Several SandWings were gathered around the island, with tents set up everywhere. A dragon with black diamond scales glared up at you.
Blister, you thought nervously. Another spear shot past, almost hitting your ear.
You yelped and quickly landed. The SandWings instantly surround you, one pointing a spear to your throat. You lean back, scared.
The dragon with black diamond scales walked towards you. “A SandWing,” she purred. “What are you doing here?”
You hesitated, the spear getting closer and closer. Should you lie or tell the truth?
a) tell the truth
b) lie

Attempt to escape dungeon
“Yes,” You immediately said. “Of course. I’d do anything to escape this place.”
Arroyo nodded, and grinned. “Wait until tonight. Then I’ll put my plan into action.”
“Your plan?” You asked, hesitantly. Could you really trust Arroyo? You just met her.
“Yes,” Arroyo hissed and glared at you. “Keep your voice down. Just wait until tonight. I’ll tell you everything then.”
You nodded slowly, and Arroyo turned, and walked back. You did the same, and paced the perimeter of your cell. You hoped you wouldn’t regret this. Rotting and dying here kind of seemed better than being tortured by Burn, now that you think of it.

“Get up,” a low voice woke you up. Realizing that you fell asleep while stressing about your choices, you fumble to get out of bed. Arroyo pokes her snout in your cell. “Let’s go.”
“But what’s the plan?” You whined. She ignores you. You walk towards her, and notice a familiar dragon, poking his nose in Arroyo’s cell. You jumped. “Drought?!” You hushed.
He lunged at you. “Stay quiet! If I get caught, I’ll end up just like you guys, or worse. I’m only doing this to… uh… whatever.”
You squint your eyes. “Aren’t you a guard? How did Arroyo get you to–”
“Exactly.” he replied. “Be grateful, will you?” You heard a clang, and then Arroyo disappeared.
“What about the other guards? Won’t they see you or hear you?”
“That’s why we have to be stealthy. Where’s Arroyo?”
You look around. “You let her out of her cell, idiot. The guards will see her!” You glance at Drought.
“My RainWing friend snuck a few tranquilizer darts from the rainforest. It works pretty well on guards. Arroyo is hacking the security system on the gates. Guards aren’t even allowed to do that, not since some dragon betrayed Burn on the battlefield.”
Drought lets you out and you go to help Arroyo. You’re not sure why she needed you for this mission.
“Thank you,” You said to him. He winked.
“Arroyo, Cactus,” He said. “Follow me. Be very careful.”
He led you and Arroyo to a long passageway, where you heard shrieks and screaming and threats from a particular cell. Eventually, you ended up in the arena, where you, Arroyo, and Drought flew.
You three escaped from the stronghold, and eventually made it to an oasis, the same place where you started, where you, Arroyo, and Drought lived the rest of your lives there.

Refuse to escape with Arroyo
It was too risky. Burn wasn’t going to let you slip through her claws again. Plus, why should you trust Arroyo? You just met her. You would rather rot and die in the prison than get tortured by Burn. “I can’t.” You said. Arroyo studied you.
“Why?” She asked, hostile.
“What if Burn finds out?” You whispered, panic filling your head.
Arroyo flicked her tail. “Well, they won’t. I have a plan.”
You hesitated, then noticed a guard staring at you. He looked as if he’s been listening to your conversation with Arroyo.
“What if the guards kill us?” You asked. “You’re being too reckless.”
Arroyo rolled her eyes. “Says the person who is willing to stay in this crappy prison than at least have a chance to get out. Didn’t I tell you I was a skilled warrior?”
“No.” You backed away. “You can do it yourself, but I won’t join you.”
Arroyo hissed. “Fine.” She stormed, stomping away from you.
Your stomach begins to growl. When was the last time you ate?
You walk to your bed, and acquiesce to your fate. You will live here, and you will die here, for the rest of your life. Maybe you should’ve agreed.
The next day, Arroyo was gone.

Tell the truth to SeaWings
“I fled from Burn,” You admitted. “Her soldiers found out where I was hiding, so I flew. All the way here.” Your voice trembled as Blister leaned closer.
Blister studied you. “And why did you flee?”
“Burn was an evil person,” You said, stuttering in between every word.
“Interesting,” Blister flickered her tongue. “How much can you remember from when you served for Burn? Can you draw a detailed map of the Stronghold?”
“I think,” You replied, trying not to look in Blister’s vicious eyes. Your scales tickled, as Blister regarded you with her blank, black eyes.
“Interesting,” Blister remarked.
She continued to study you, “You would be useful… useful for my army.” She finally hissed out. “Yes… you could tell me all about Burn.”
“Guards,” she ordered. “Fly this dragon to the camp,” she pointed at you. “Train them. Make them draw a map for us.”
“But Blister–” A dragon said, his voice rising.
“Silence!” She ordered. “Go!”
You found the SeaWing Kingdom fascinating. You did all your orders and became loyal to Blister. After the war, you ended up settling there.

Lie to the SeaWings
“I’m-I’m just visiting,” You stuttered. “Enjoying the view.”
Blister’s head tilted and her dark eyes towered over you. “Visiting?” She hissed. “You don’t look like you’re visiting.”
You turned and tried to run away, but the guards blocked your path. You turned back to Blister, who was staring at you with her black, soulless eyes.
“You’re a spy from Blaze or Burn, aren’t you?” She whispered. “I’m not stupid, like my sisters.” Her talons closed on your throat, and you choked for breath.
“No!” You replied, struggling. Blister didn’t let go, and you slowly fade into the darkness.
