The Adventure Across Pyrrrhia: Wings of Fire | Choose Your Own Adventure in forums :)

The Adventure Across Pyrrhia: a Choose Your Own Adventure gift from the hosts of TWOFF (the wings of fire fanclub)

Travel across Pyrrhia to each of the tribes… unless you’re dead before you make it there.

14 endings; 34 different stories.
7 deaths; 7 happy endings.
Every choice you make is vital.
Can you find all the endings?

Notice: This CYOA correlates to the real Pyrrhia map. A lot of locations in Pyrrhia had to be intensely studied just to write this! If you have any trouble deciding which tribe to go to, you can always look at the map here https://wingsoffire.fandom.com/wiki/Map:Pyrrhia

Also, I advise you not to skip to different forum pages and spoil it for yourself.

Trigger Warnings: (they are very small and NOT detailed)
Falling from high place, homicide (NOT detailed at all), blood, fighting

Backstory
You are a Sandwing named Cactus at the time of the SandWing Succession. 3 years ago, you angered Burn by abandoning her during a battle. Now… you have to hide… and find a way to fix this.
You are currently hiding in an oasis in the desert, south of the kingdom, not too far from the Scorpion Den. Your fake name is Cacti.

You wake up groggily; it was just another day in your hut. Another day that will lead to another on and on for the rest of the war. When will it stop? Sighing, you snatch a camel leg from a shelf.
All you can do is hope that Burn won't be the next queen. If they found you… the thought lingers in your brain every single draining minute.
It’s been 15 years since Queen Oasis died, and the only thing preventing you from dying is the war. Once a new queen was selected, was it all over?
Would your life ever continue?
Silently gnawing on your camel leg, you run over your to-do list in your brain. But there wasn’t anything to do today. Or any day. Hiding is your one job.
Bang.
You freeze mid-chew. You glance at the door, eyes wide.
Bang.

a) hide
b) prepare to fight
c) open the door and talk

Hide from the intruders

Hyperventilating, you leap from your camel leg and bury yourself in your moss-bed. It couldn’t be Burn. Stifling a squeal, tears blur your vision. A pounding in your chest is about to make your heart burst, and it’s heavier than an earthquake… you see your talons trembling.
Bang.
You can’t see anything. Was that the sound of your door? Footsteps. Shuffling dragons storm in, their swords and daggers clanging against each other. You cover your mouth, struggling. They grunt bluntly to their companions. They must be planning to search through your stuff. Sweat slides down your scales.
“There’s nothing else here,” huffed a male dragon. “Let’s move,” he grumbles.
Footsteps.
Gripping your mouth, you stare at the nothingness in front of you, eyes wide. A few minutes pass and you decide to crawl out, legs shaking like crazy. They took all your food stock, but not much more. Luckily, you had nothing to hide—in your den, at least. You glanced at your reflection in your supply of water. Your claws had cut some areas around your mouth. Other than that you looked okay; except for the fact that someone might think you’d stepped out of a volcano.
Hold on… does it feel a little hot in here?
Listening close… the crescendo of crackling echoes in your hut. The crackling of fire. This was a dragon’s doing.

a) leave your hut and fly away
b) interrogate the arsonist(s)

Prepare to fight intruders

Throwing down the camel leg, you grip your tail. You hurriedly look around to find any sharp object you can use—but there wasn’t any except for a few dry pieces of camel leg. You snatch them up and spin around to open the door.
There was a blur of yellow, but you thrusted your tail barb into the face of a dragon. A groan of pain, and you realized what you did.
Six pairs of eyes stare at the body, and lock into yours. They all draw their weapons, and fire dances out of their furious mouths.

a) fight back
b) give in

Open the door and talk to intruders

Not peeping a sound, you stumble towards the door, shaking, and thrust it open. Seven dragons and seven swords and daggers face you. They’re Burn’s warriors.
Did they remember you? You couldn’t remember any of them, since it had been five years of isolation. Even if they did, they would still capture any innocent distant dragon…
“Wait! I’m just a dragon lying low away from the war! I couldn’t find my way back! Please…” You back away from the weapons they drew. They eye you with suspicion.
“Name?”
You open your mouth, but a dragon shoves you away. “Doesn’t matter.” Five dragons follow him, searching through your stuff. The remaining dragon waits for an answer. Even if they couldn’t remember your face, they’d remember your name. You scan your memory for unused names. Of course, you couldn’t use your real name.
“Cacti. I’m—“
“Your name is really Cacti? How did you get here?” He panted gruffly. His weapon was still raised.
“I w-was fleeing from the war with my f-family five years ago,” you could hear your voice shaking as you lied. “And lost them in the process. I couldn’t find my way back, so I built a nice hut here in the middle of the desert and survived.”
His eyes squinted. His companions walked back to the entrance and they grumbled to each other. You stare, hopeful.
“Would you like us to bring you back to the tribe?”

a) refuse
b) accept the offer

Fly away from your burning hut

A hole begins to sprout in your burning hut, forcing some of it to start collapsing. Busting the door open, you stretch your shaken wings and take off swiftly. You’ve almost forgotten how to fly. Looking back over your shoulder, it was a good idea to flee; several SandWings that had searched your hut were now surrounding your hut; taking no notice of you. But what direction do you go? Many dangers lurk in any tribe, in any corner of Pyrrhia… which one was the safest?
You assumed that the southeast approached the rainforest. Northwest flew over the SandWing kingdom to the IceWings. Ruled out was the southwest as it led to the dangerous volcanoes—you couldn’t survive there. Northeast led directly to endless mountains and the SkyWing tribe.

a) go southeast
b) go northwest
c) go northeast

Go southeast

Using the sun as a guide, you glide southeast, a smile spreading on your face as you soared.
Some time passes and you realize it is night time. Looking down, you realize you’re flying right on top of a mountain range where Jade Mountain is located, and see some grasslands ahead. You settle for a nice cozy spot in the sand and bury yourself in it. For the next few days of travel, this is how you sleep at night. Every day, you keep looking behind you, worried that someone is chasing after you, but every time no one is.
After a while on the third day, your wings are giving way little by little, and you’re unsure if you can take it anymore. Without water or food for three days, you’re slowly dying from starvation.
Suddenly, you spot patches of green below you. Gasping in awe, you realize they’re trees. This had to be the Rainforest Kingdom. You pause and wonder if you should land there. On one hand, you’re tired. Aren’t RainWings lazy fools? On the other hand, who knows what dangers lie in this unknown place? RainWings barely make contact with the outside world. Who knows what they’re really like? And if they don’t even have food?
You pant, hungry and tired, having starved yourself for days. You have to make a decision quickly.

a) land in the rainforest
b) continue flying

Go northwest

Using the sun as a guide, you glide northwest, a smile spreading on your face as you soared.
Some time passes and you realize it is night time. Looking down, you realize you’re right over some weird SandWing den apart from the tribe. Unlike your little hut, it was bustling with dragons, a walled city. You’ve never heard of this place before. Was it supposed to be a secret?
You settle for a nice cozy spot in the sand and bury yourself in it, dangerously close to the mysterious city. You close your eyes, dreaming of your home…
You open your eyes to complete chaos. Noises ring in your ears, and you yawn. Then you scream.
Several scrawny SandWing dragonets are peeking over your body. They look curious. “Who are you?”
You leap up from your lying position and run in the opposite direction, straight into a whole entire SandWing city. Bustling crowds, accommodations aligning the streets, happy dragonets playing—did you somehow time travel, or was the war over already?
The dragonets stare. “What are you doing?” One squeaks. You realize you’re stuck to the ground, looking at the city. “Where am I?”
“The Scorpion Den. Don’t you know? Don’t you live here?”
You cocked your head. “Are you guys… all living here? Hiding from Burn?”
“That creepy wannabe queen? My mom told me about her,” one dragonet said.
Soon, you realize they are all hiding from the war, like you, except they built a city instead of running off. Criminals and families of all types live here. As you lived in the stronghold your whole life, you have never heard of this place before. You discover that it’s an extravagant city to live in. But is this your forever home?

a) stay living here
b) keep flying northwest

Stay in the Scorpion Den

Why leave when there are so many others like you right here? The city was beautiful and chaotic. It was perfect right here. It was about time to settle down.
You live your future as a popular chef, honing roasted camel legs and fried giraffe necks. On the journey, you even managed to make some friends, such as Thorn. When she became queen, everyone was astonished.
In the peaceful circumstances, you managed to find a partner, and have two clever dragonets who get along well, and to you, are riveting. You live in the happy Scorpion Den until you die calm in your sleep, surrounded by your family.

Keep flying northwest from Scorpion Den

These are all criminal families. Hiding from the war, like you. But Burn’s warriors are on your tail, and you can’t put the whole city in danger. Besides, weren’t you on the run?
Taking off secretly, you regret your decision a bit. But the past is in the past anyway. You shiver. Why was it so cold? Then you realize. IceWings. You couldn’t survive here. Why didn’t you stop for some food at the Scorpion Den?
Starving, you look around and spot a fortress. Hopefully it was abandoned. Gathering your courage and skidding on the slippery, icy ground, you observe your surroundings. You weren’t used to the cold here.
You hold your breath and knock on the door of the fortress. The air almost stood still, and you were about to open the door yourself when… bang. Two annoyed SandWings, holding spears, opened the door. You felt your heart drop to the bottom of your chest. This was where the SandWings that were allied with Blaze were staying.
“Who are you?” The pale female SandWing on the left asked.
“I’m… I’m…” You hesitated, not daring to back away. “I’m…” Should you use your real name?
The two SandWings exchanged looks.
One poked you with her spear. “Come with us.”
You reluctantly follow the two SandWings down the hallway from a respectful distance. You see paintings, and scavengers. Your heart pounds.
Eventually they lead you to another SandWing, dressed with jewels and rings. This must be Blaze.
“Your Majesty,” the SandWing on the left bowed. “We found this lone dragon out.”
“Hmm…” Blaze studied her claws and squinted. “Who are you?”
“I’m Cactus,” you blurted without thinking. “I want to join you.”
“Where are you from?”
You hesitated. You wanted to earn her trust. “Burn. But I left her.”
Blaze jumped, and the two SandWings hissed. “Burn is bad,” the SandWing on the right whispered. You gulped.
“So you’re a disloyal dragon?” Blaze questioned. “Are you a spy?”
Panicking, you blurt, “No! Burn was just a terrible, controlling freak. Leaving her was a good thing. I assure you I’m not a spy…”
“It’s alright,” Blaze waved her hand, being the oblivious dragon she is. “You can join us.”
The two dragons behind you look bewildered. “We’ll keep an eye on her, your majesty.”
The day you walked out of the fortress was the best decision of your life. After that, you worked with Blaze until the end of the war before returning to your lone oasis.

Go northeast

Using the sun as a guide, you glide northeast, a smile spreading on your face as you soared.
Some time passes and you realize it is night time. Looking down, you realize you are flying directly over a huge mountain range, with no end in sight. Since you were still relatively close to the desert, you bury yourself in a nice cozy spot in the sand and close your eyes. For the next few days of travel, this is how you sleep at night. Every day, you keep looking behind you, worried that someone is chasing after you, but every time no one is.
After a while on the third day, your wings are giving way slowly, and you’re unsure if you can take it anymore. Without water or food for three days, you’re slowly dying from starvation.
Suddenly, you see the SkyWing tribe below you. They were fierce supporters of Burn, and their queen was more bloodthirsty than the whole tribe combined. But you were starving, and dying of dehydration. Surely they’ll be convinced by your fake excuses?

Land in the SkyWing tribe

Stretching your wings, you land on a flat surface with a shriek. Nostalgia racks your brain. The SkyWings… you had been there to watch Burn fight in the arena, but you had never competed in the arena yourself. You hadn’t fought in a long time. Would you win?
Speaking of which… Scarlet wasn’t the nice dragon type. Even if you did win, Scarlet would’ve likely killed you instead.
You ignored your doubts, and decided to land, where the main entrance to the castle lay. Taking a deep breath, you decided to knock. A guard wearing stone armor answers.
“Who are you?” The guard gruffed. He was a burly SkyWing, with amber scales and a yellow undertone. You hesitate and use a fake name.
“I’m Cacti.” You hiss. “I need water, please.”
The guard laughed. “SandWing! Hah! Where are you from?”
“I’m a supporter of Burn. I fled from a war. Please, I’m starving and thirsty.”
“Fled? You’re a fleer? You abandoned Burn instead of staying by her side?” The guard hissed, sticking a weapon under your nose.
“I was going to die if I didn’t, please…”
The guard stepped back. “Well now you WILL die.” The door hit you in the face and you collapsed.

Continue flying from the SkyWing tribe

A glimpse of the tribe and you turn around sharply. The SkyWings… you had been there to watch Burn fight in the arena. She won, and killed her opponent. Obviously.
Now you didn’t even know which direction you were heading, but anywhere away from that tribe is best. Just the thought of Queen Scarlet made your brain rack.
But it was cold, you were starving, and your wings were tired. It was unexpectedly cold. You shiver and fly as fast as you can.
Why was it so freezing? You look down, trembling, eyelids drooping. A sheet of white covers the land in front of you. IceWings.
You slap yourself awake and hear your stomach rumbling, empty. Faced with another choice again.

a) Land in the IceWing tribe
b) Keep flying

Go outside and talk to arsonists that are burning your hut

A hole begins to sprout in your burning hut, forcing some of it to start collapsing. It had to be those soldiers that did this, but you decide to go talk to them anyway. Busting the door open, you look around to find the seven SandWings surrounding your hut. They were burning it to the ground, probably thinking no one was in it.
“Wait!” You shriek. Seven sharp pairs of eyes make their way to you. They approach you rapidly and one guy with a scar on his cheek grabs your neck. You don’t want to attack them—they’re too strong.
“Scar, calm down.” A voice behind him approaches and the dragon puts his hand on Scar’s shoulder. Scar let go of you, huffing. “Name?”
“Um…” you search your mind for fake names, knowing they’ll recognize your real name. “Cacti.”
“You live here?” Grunted Scar. “We were inside it a second ago. Were you hiding?” He gripped a dagger and grinned menacingly.
“Uh… no. I was actually just out hunting for food, then noticed my hut was burning to the ground. I fled from the war five years ago, and couldn’t find my way back.” You hope he couldn’t detect the tremble in your voice as you lied. “I just built a nice hut for me here.”
The dragon behind Scar pushed him away.
“Drought—“ Scar argued.
“I’m the leader here, if you forgot,” replied Drought. “Where’s your family?” He didn’t seem as psychotic as the rest of the dragons. You shrug.
“You want to see them again? Well since your hut is in flames, why don’t we bring you back to the tribe? We must—your house is practically gone.”

Fight back to the intruders

You don’t exactly know what you’re doing, but you know you’re going to end up dead. Backing away, you pick up a camel leg and fling it at one of the warriors. He resists, ignoring it like it was a feather. Their weapons shine in the light, and they come charging towards you, laughing; not happily, but like a maniac as flames shoot out of their mouths.
You back away, limbs shaking. “Please…” You know you aren’t able to fight them, but you let out a blast of fire. This just makes them more angry. They’ll take you back to Burn… or slay you right at this moment…
They close in on you, and darkness pulls down your eyelids…

Give in to the intruders

Dropping to the floor, you stare at the ground while they do their job of restraining you and bringing you back to Burn.
“Why don’t we just kill—“ one with a scar on his cheek began to say, but another jabbed him in the arm. They muttered something that sounded like they were gonna bring you back to Burn.
The journey northeast was relentless. The warriors monitored your every move, kicking you a few times a minute. You were thinking about asking them for water when you noticed the guy with a scar on his cheek eyeing you concerningly. You made eye contact, and he pulled you slightly away from the others. “You know we’re only keeping you alive because that dang Drought over there thinks you’d be useful to Burn.” He said in an undertone, and clenched his teeth. His piercing eye contact with you was petrifying, and you had to look away. “I don’t know how he thinks you have potential.
“Make a single move, and you’re gone. Got it?” You nodded frantically, lump in your throat.

Refuse to go back to the tribe

Your eyes shift from dragon to dragon. “Um…” you sigh. Going back to the tribe sounded great, getting to see if your family was alive and all, but what if Burn or someone else recognizes you? “No thanks. I do like it in my little hut, you know,” you grinned awkwardly, voice shaking.
The dragon in the front doesn’t hesitate. “Alright then, suit yourself.”
A dragon with a scar on his cheek eyes you suspiciously. His pointed eyes are incredibly sharp. “Drought. Just think about it.” His eyes were still on you. “We could just kill this fellow,” he whispered in an undertone.
Drought jabbed him in the arm, but he seemed unaffected. “Scar, stop.” He turned to you. “You know, we could really make use of you. What are you doing with your life, out here in the wild desert? We could have a new supporter of Burn, maybe train you to be a warrior—“
“Woah, hold up, hold on,” you back away. “You’re getting a little carried away here. I like it in my little hut,” but then you catch the look of Scar, a murderous urge in his eyes. All of them, even Drought, had deadly looks in their eyes. “Um… okay then?”

Accept the offer to go back to the tribe

You couldn’t say no. I mean, finally seeing your hometown, your family (if they’re alive), and friends after five years of being alone? It was tempting.
“I suppose. I would be glad to go back to the tribe.” You grin awkwardly at the warrior. You made an excuse saying that you never found your way back.“To see my family and friends again, I guess that would be great.”

Land in the rainforest

The rainforest may not be the best place to land, but your life was more important. You descended downwards exhausted, and almost crash landed from your lack of sleep. The rainforest was muddy and loud. You spot a centipede crawling on the floor, and question whether to eat it or not.
After continuing to walk for a few ten minutes, relentlessly searching for food, you realized that this was pointless. All of the animals here looked poisonous. In this area, there were no ripe fruit on trees or no fruit at all. There was not a single drop of water in sight, but you still hear the pitter platter of it.
You unravel your wings, just to feel something touch you. You close your eyes, dreaming of your hut…

You wake up on some hard platform, blinking rapidly. Rainbow dragons surround you—-they had to be RainWings. “Never seen this type of dragon before,” You hear them say. “Looks weak, and hungry.”
“Where am I?” You groan. Having a bunch of dragons stare at you while you sleep makes you a bit uncomfortable. Your eyes could barely open fully, and you couldn’t get up. You started dozing off again before snapping awake. Wait, where were you? You can’t seem to put your finger on what you were doing before.
“In the rainforest, where else?” says a bright pink dragon, frowning. “Who are you?”
You decided to trust them with your real name as you were semiconscious. “Cactus,” you rasped. “Food?”
The rainbow dragons looked at each other, concerned, and one grabbed a pinkish-green fruit, and gave it to you. You didn’t hesitate to peel the fruit and eat it. At the moment you didn’t really care if it was harmful or not. “Are you a RainWing? Who are you?” You mumbled, face stuffed.
“My name is Sparkling,” says the pink dragon. “And yes, I’m a RainWing. We’ve never had another tribe here before. I’ve heard of them… you’re a NightWing, correct?”
“No!” You bolted upright. “I’m not a filthy NightWing. I’m a SandWing.”
“Oh right, I forgot about that one.” He yawned. “Oh, it’s almost sun time.”
“What’s sun time?” You asked.
He yawned and started leaving. “Sun time is when we rest when the sun is at its highest. You clearly have a lot to learn.”
You continued your life living in the rainforest being cared for by the RainWings, and even started to develop their strange habits like sun time. When the war ended, you still decided to stay in the rainforest. They were growing onto you.

Continue flying over the rainforest

No. You couldn’t just give up so quickly… you’ve never liked the RainWings. Perhaps it was better to find another location to stay.
Batting your wings, you feel a lump grow in your throat, and swallow it. You needed water, quickly.
As you push through the terrifying winds in the air, you realize you’re traveling all across Pyrrhia. The MudWing palace was right ahead, but it’s not like you were going to drink mud or from a swamp or something. You’ve never been there though, but there’s surely fresh water and food there, right? A while longer of flying and you are going to die of starvation.

Land in the MudWing kingdom

Your life was more important. You had to get food. You quickly land in MudWing kingdom, grimacing from the squishy mud. You look around and spot a weird shape looming out of a swamp. You instantly jump on it, hoping for food.
Turns out, it was. After a nice hit with your tail, you now have a meaty alligator in your hands. You quickly swallow it, your heart burning. Food! At last! The alligator meat swished in your mouth, with a mild, sweet taste.
Soon enough, you feel full and hydrated. You still have half an alligator left. You quickly craft a bag using the swamp plants, stuffing your leftovers in it. You lie down, resting. Everything was fine. You had food.
You suddenly hear a squish. And more squishes. Footsteps. Your eyes popped open. It was the MudWings.
On one hand, you might be able to pull some sharp excuses and stay with fresh food everywhere. Or, you could just fly to the SeaWing kingdom, fierce supporters of Blister.

a) stay
b) fly away to the SeaWing kingdom
