Bahaha, just saw your post, Summer. Sub-sort completed (to the best of my ability), and we'll get working on those QOTDs soon! I added a couple more to the canva per Snowy's ideas, and added a quick idea of my own in the comments of the slide <3

Cool! I think we should invite sooner rather than later, but I’ll wait for your go-ahead

Firstly, aaaaa, Summer, these profile pictures are amazing. I’m going to have to change mine once I get back this afternoon! Seriously, thank you so, so much.
About the campers: I’m all good with my WCG! Somehow you put my preferences in my WCG without me even saying anything, haha. I’m okay with inviting whenever, but I do think sooner rather than later is a good idea, so that way campers can bond and ask questions before July begins.

Alright, everyone, this is the signal. It's time.
You are free to start sending out your invites.
This is my welcome draft, but since these are your people, your totally free to word it however you'd like. Just make sure you include links to the cabin, your WCG, and the ‘lab reports’ (cabin guide + storyline update thread), which can now be found here!
Hey ____! My name is Poppy, and I'm so excited to welcome you to the Science Fiction Laboratory for the July 2024 session of SWC. Head over to our cabin ( https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/35225531/ ) to introduce yourself and chat with your fellow campers. After that, come pop over to my word count group ( https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/35289002 ) and confirm your pronouns and your word goal for the month! From there, we'd love it if you could check out our cabin guide/storyline thread for the month ( https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/768816/ ). Let me know if you have any questions! I can't wait to have an incredible month <3
Remember to invite them to curate the cabin and your WCGs!
Ahh, I'm so excited!! I've had such a great time planning with the two of you. I've said it a million times and I'll say it again- we've got an all-star team right here. Onward to July!

Sorry too- I’m at camp and it’s way busier this year than last year (plus forums were down for so long). If someone wants to draft something for the storyline (like in the cabin guide thread) this is probably about the time to start doing that ^^ let me know if you have time or are interested- if not I can always jump in to help <33

Hi! I’m going to my cousins’ place tomorrow morning, and I’ll be there for two days. Probably won’t be super active then, but I will get on whenever I can, at least to just check in. As for the storyline, I can try to draft/start something in the car before I arrive, if that’d be helpful!

It seems that our whole team has been- and will be- pretty inactive this month. Maybe we should find a way to simplify our storyline, while still having one? Here’s what I propose:
Now: Alert several volunteers to post their sickness message in the cabin.
As soon as possible: Post a project (preferably, so campers can comment when they complete experiments) for experiments. These could be things like “Write 500 words” or “Complete two dailies.” Tasks like “Complete a weekly” could count for more experiments. We should probably keep the count low. 20 experiments?
Goal reached: Release the journal (probably a project again for the same reason), with 5 slightly more difficult experiment-like tasks to get the combination. Then, once they get it, our storyline is done. They read the journal and “discover thw truth.”
If that’s too much: Cut off the journal part. It’s cool but perhaps unnecessary. Once we reach the experiment goal, we could just say we found a cure. It’s simple, but that’s a good thing if we’re not going to be online enough for a hands-on storyline.
Whatever we decide to do, we should start soon.

Ok, I agree- just between you (Summer) being at camp week one and me at camp this week (and it being so much busier than last year, which was super unexpected), and all of the forums and scrashing, it’s been rough.
I think the first one sounds good. I can work on the project soon! I’m travelling all of today, but after that I’ll be way more active ^^

MLT time! I love these <3 Couple of ideas-
- most likely to break all the beakers in the lab
- most likely to find the cure in three days
- most likely to get infected and still be fine
- most likely to cure the disease on accident

Alright, I think today is the day to notify about a third of the volunteers to post their message, and I’ll start working on the thumbnails/descs for the experiments and labs. I’ll try to get as much as I can done today, because I just found out that I’m having surgery tomorrow (nothing serious, I promise- it’s unserious enough that I completely forgot it was happening, and the healing period is pretty much only going to be about 24 hours).
This works for everyone I assume?

I'm fine- it's just getting my wisdom teeth out XD I swear I'm fine- like I said, I literally forgot about it until like midway last week XD
I think I'll be alright- I probably won't be active at all tomorrow (you guys probably don't want me trying to do stuff when I'm all loopy-doopy on painkillers hsdjfhskdjfh) but after that I'll be more active and able to help out. I feel really bad that I wasn't able to be as active last week- I went to the same camp last year and it was way less time-intensive then. I should be able to kick up my activity once school starts up next month (which sounds crazy but it's true hskdjfhksjdf)

I'm going to alert the next 3 ‘infected patients’ to post their comment in the cabin. Once they are up, I'll post the experiments project (I have a messy thumb and desc completed for that, but considering that we're in a rush, I'm assuming it's fine).
Once we get a couple experiments in, I'll ask the remaining three to post their comments. Then, once the experiments are finished and the journal is posted, I'll have us post that we've been ‘infected’. Does this very very rough timeline sound good to everyone? ^^'

Ooh, yes, thank you so much, Poppy! I really appreciate all your work for this <333
And again, wanted to apologize for my inactivity across pretty much all of this session — my mental health has been really bad recently, even more so in recent weeks, and it’s been tough to scrape together motivation and time to do stuff for SWC/Sci-Fi with everything going on in my head and in real life. Anyway, thank you both so, so much for being patient with me and making this cabin work out all the same. You both are the best <3

I feel bad too- my mental health normally dips really low in the summer, but I thought prior to the session that I had kind of grown out of that. Guess not :melting: XD I just do not feel like I've been the leader I wanted to be and I'm really sorry to you guys for not stepping up as much as I wanted to </3
I really wasn't planning on telling anyone this until thank you notes came around, but I'm leaving Scratch and SWC after this session just so I can take time to focus on my health (which I haven't been doing great at as of late) and give myself some more time to tackle some challenges. I couldn't pick a better cabin or team to be my last one. You guys have meant the world to me <3 I've got school starting tomorrow (a travesty, in my opinion) but I should still be about as active as I have been, maybe even a little more. Can't wait for all that we have ahead of us. Let's make this the best final week of the session ever <3

No worries at all, Poppy! Your mental and physical health (as well as life offline) should always come first! You’ve honestly been doing so much, and I’m so grateful for that. You’re an awesome leader, and if you ever need to talk, I’m here <3
Poppy, We’re going to miss you so, so much. You’re an amazing friend, leader, writer, and just person in general, and I’m so glad we got the chance to work together this session — it’s truly been an honor to work with you and get to know you. Take care of yourself <333
