Support!

Yo, I'm Noelle!

I'm a 19 year old trans girl (she/her) who doesn't use Scratch much anymore.
Still pop in from time to time though, so don't be scared to say hi!

That is what the report button is for. People can comment that regardless of if it's stickied or not.

True!

If I said no support highlight this from “Hi” to “AWESOME”:
Hi this isThink about your suggestion, was it going to benefit a majority of scratchers, did it have cons to a specific group, was it fully based on YOUR opinion, did you put some thought into the idea, simply forgot to read the sticky, has little pros, no purposeful reason, was there something wrong with scratch? If any of these apply to you think about your post, either revise it or close it.AWESOME
If I said support highlight this from “Hi” to “COOL”:
Hi I think this isDo you think you could add to your suggestion, or do you wish to keep it the same? Doesn't matter as long as people support it!!COOL

Before anything, tell me why people would need this.

I know the “people don't usually read the description” part, but remember, if you have a big

WARNING: READ THIS FIRST

(see, caught your attention didn't I)

sign and have the most important instructions written first they're going to read it.

If they're not going to read something written on the side of the project they're not gonna read it under it either.

The word “Support” would work too.

Moving on, back to the original topic.

What if people decided to sticky the comments that praise the project instead of actually having something useful? To give a false idea that the project is better than it actually is.

Yeah, Alberknyis is right. that's definitely a problem with stickied comments.

But if they're posting a comment they might see it. And if the stickied comments were actually above the box for leaving your own comment, it would probably be great.

Here's a solution to people who don't read Notes and Credits: just delete their comment and put a warning that you will in the Notes and Credits.

Problem is, lots of people don't comment.

Have a look at the ratio of project views to the number of project comments.

On average (took me a while), there are seven views to every comment.

So one out of eight people don't comment on the project.

And that's just being nice. Remember that comments can be made by the same person. So the ratio of people that view but don't comment goes even higher.

On the other hand, people——-

Sorry, don't bother with that.

If there are some important instructions some missed, he's going to ask in the comments what they are.

Which means scrolling through the stickied comments.

Nothing to do here.

Quoting people out of context in order to make you look better even if they didn't say anything about the thing (or quoting someone with something they didn't say) if false advertising. Please don't do it.

You can't change the size of notes and credits text. If you could, your idea would work. At the moment, it doesn't and hasn't.
If someone's going to comment, like I said in the OP, it's way more likely that they're gonna look at a marked post a the top of comments than small text on the side.

Advertising your project in your comments is fine, as long as you don't advertise on someone else's project. It's like putting at the start of the project a screen that says “This project is amazing!”. No one would complain at that.

Stickied comments would be sending the message to commenters. I don't think you get the point of this at all.

Important questions would probably get stickied… and how many stickied comments do you think people would use? Probably not more than 2 or 3.

If you're gonna not support, you need to say it outside of your signature.

Do you realize my point then? Because quoting people to make yourself look better is exactly what can happen with stickey'd comments. You see?

Depends on how you arrange information, like I said.

You see, if you take advantage of the fact that the text on the side is the first text they will see, all you have to do is

MAKE IT STAND OUT

And they'll shift their attention to anything you've written on the side. Simple.

And since when does stickey'd comments prove to stand out more than text placed right next to the project?

Of course it's fine. I never said anything against it.

I have no idea what “sending the message to commenters” means.

This, however is what you said about stickied comments.

Unlocked wrote:

The new option would be “sticky”, and it would make the comment always stay at the top of the comments section, and maybe also have something that says “stickied”.

And I'm assuming it's still that way.

Why would questions get stickied? And you heard of advertising or f4f spamming? Those guys don't just do it “2 to 3 times”. What would stop them from adding more?

Hint: Limits

Unlocked wrote:

Ah, that signature is for everything in the suggestions section. A bit hard to explain. Basically, I find that 99% of the suggestions are not exactly thought that far… So as for now I've decided to become a critic.

Support! The number of people who comment on my projects or profile asking me how to change project thumbnails to gifs or how to follow Kaj every day is too high! I need something more than project descriptions to get their attention.
