How can I make high quality projects?

Hi, if you see my projects, you can tell I'm a pretty basic scratcher. I just don't know how to make really good projects. I've tried making a platformer before but it backfired

. I'd appreciate tips on how to make games like platformers. Also, please don't give me links to You tube because it doesn't work on my computer. Thanks!

In general, just experiment with different project styles and practice a lot. You will slowly get better at what you want to create by practicing it a lot.

Also, if you want to make something that looks high-quality, try using the scratch editor (or an art program if you have one) to draw graphics for it. Things tend to look more “high quality” when they have good graphics quality.

Regarding making platformers specifically, here’s a tutorial on making one by griffpatch_tutor. It’s here on scratch and I feel it might help you. Just remember to give credit where credit is due.

I've been on this site since I was 10 years old. I am currently 15

I have a major addiction to sweet tea and draw a crap ton of stuff in my free time (not all of which is scratch appropriate). I post whatever I want to on the main site and mostly manage the collaborations directory and answer questions in QaS on the forums

I have over 2000 posts lol, a huge chunk of them being from when I was 11-12 during the height of COVID

here are simple steps to make good projects

Try to make a generic platformer
get bullied for making one by 1k posters
make original games
try, try again
BECOME the 1k poster and stop the cycle
never look at any tutorial and do as the lego masters are hired, through patience without assistance
you are now getting 1 million views congrats

this works for me
but i didn't get last step
high quality means different things

scratchers on the forums from 10-500 posts have at most, a 7 short sentence span for replies. if you cant keep your posts in this range, then dont act suprised when someone asks for simplified version

make small but positive changes to your style, etc (they all add up!!)
eventually you might care enough to start planning out your projects
also, don't force yourself to come up with ideas. the best way to come up with a project idea is to let it come to mind without any prompt
