Limit How Many Times You Can Be Featured/Trending (revised so no name/shame)
So most of this post is focused on trending, so… yeah.
There's a BIG problem with the trending page. It's that a lot of the same users are on the trending page that make the same type of generic games. I think these spots deserve attention to games that are actually good instead of projects that are generic. (also, this “wave spam” trend is really getting under my skin)
The limit should be 3 projects trending per user per 2 months.
The limit should also be 3 projects featured per user, but I am flexible with this because there isn't a problem with featured projects right now.
Trending has “healed” a little, but in general it's still hell.
And guess what?
They know it's for fame.
Edit: Got the image reuploaded with censors. Thanks to @Clippy-Cat for preserving the image.
Edit: Here are the limits proposed by other Scratchers. If you agree with one, please include one in your reply. (+ equals support and - equals a change; as of 10/8/24 limits may be changed)
LIMTS:
@RecessFailsOffical - 3 projects per user per 2 months on trending. 3 projects per user ever.
(ill add more later)

This is actually a pretty good idea but per user is a bit extreme. People could easily create more accounts and abuse the system. What about one project on trending per week? Or two weeks. I don't see a problem with the featured limit though since people typically don't get featured a lot anyway.
probably a dupe but scratchdb is down

Check trending right now. Just click explore and go to games. Tell me what you think. (and look at the users that are trending in #games)

My point still stands. If the ST decided to limit the amount of times you can appear on trending, there will be World War III.

Perhaps 3 projects per user per month? Lifetime isn’t very fair

3 projects PER MONTH. that is absurd, if you get one featured project that is all you should get. because if i have 10 featured projects, 9 of those projects could have been somebody elses. Perhaps 3 projects per user per month? Lifetime isn’t very fair

What's wrong with that? If a certain user consistently makes projects people like, and they get on trending, how is that Scratch's fault? It's the community's decision on what projects they choose to view, love and favorite, so why punish the creator? There's a BIG problem with the trending page. It's that a lot of the same users are on the trending page.
I don't think there's a problem with the trending page (other than tag spam), if many people likes a project and it gets on trending, just because they happen to be from the same user often doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to get on trending. Reply to this post, sincerely, and tell me that there isn't something wrong with trending right now based on the image.
How would this even be determined? I'm on trending spot #1 in a very obscure search bar, does that mean I only have 4 spots left? Would this be for the #games, #art etc first pages or any page? Too ambiguous, with no clear area where it would count and wouldn't count. And again, what's wrong with being on trending multiple times? The limit should be 5 projects trending per user, which might be a stretch by itself.
People rarely get featured twice, let alone 3 times. The featured system is fine as it is, and changing the featured system is rejected regardless. The limit should also be 3 projects featured per user, but I am flexible with this because there isn't a problem with featured projects right now.
7.16 Change the types of projects to be featured
The Scratch Team has a list of types of projects they are looking to feature in the Propose Projects to be Featured studio. Such a list has existed for years, and the Scratch Team is happy with the kinds of projects they have been featuring. While some Scratchers are unhappy with the types of projects being featured, it is ultimately up to the Scratch Team to decide what to feature.
As others have stated, users will likely make alts or use alts to bypass this regardless, I see no provident reason to change the trending system as it is now.

I think this should at the very least reset itself every once in a while. Otherwise, the trending page loses it's realism to show what's trending.
In real life, if Taylor Swift's songs are on the billboard charts two months in a row, she's not going to get a limit of five total months.

Thats almost physically impossible, while not an exact rule, the ST tries to not feature the same user's projects one after another (idk where the quote is, but ik it was from that suggestion about preventing the same user from being featured multiple times)3 projects PER MONTH. that is absurd, if you get one featured project that is all you should get. because if i have 10 featured projects, 9 of those projects could have been somebody elses. No need to investigate whether the user has been on the front page or if it’s an alt account, as the Scratch Team has tools that let us do this easily. This implies that they don't intend to feature users twice currently.

This should be changed to "Limit 1 project per person in trending at one time (Until next refresh) That will give more opportunities for other people while not imposing unfair restrictions to people that make quality projects.
This is wrong. People take a long time to make these games. If it is fairly liked, loved, and viewed then it is not the creators' fault. He/she has no control if people view it or not.
I think these spots deserve attention to games that are actually good instead of projects that are generic.

This would be better, my only concern with it is that you can scroll through hundreds of trending pages before stopping, which would definitely not work. I could see this working. We need less people like (saved the moderator time by not naming names, but everybody knows who I'm talking about anyway) hijacking the trending page. I'd say the limit should be one every three months though. Ans to clarify, this would be the main categories like all, games, and art etc? I'd assume that if something was in all and another category (like games) it would only count as one, right?
If this is true, I agree with this suggestion. Tired of seeing platformers that are just lazy art strapped onto an engine, probably a remix of the first one and the assets mixed around.

Alright, I think it should be 1 featured project per 3 or 4 months maximum. 3 for a lifetime just isn’t that fair tbh.
And I say 1 project trending per month max instead of 3 per two months max.
Edit: Allow me to revise my previous statement.
1 featured project per 5-6 months.
1 project trending per month.
