there are lots of discourage suggestions
discourage support for reasons in op
discourage idk i saw a dupe too lazy to find
but there is a big problem
what does discourage mean?
an announcement, a warn, a close?
these are too vague, so I propose to either close them fully or change them to a specific solution that does not need accuracy questions

scratchers on the forums from 10-500 posts have at most, a 7 short sentence span for replies. if you cant keep your posts in this range, then dont act suprised when someone asks for simplified version

What if a “discourage” suggestion is clear on what “discourage” means?

among_us1w2 wrote:

That doesn't really require Scratch Team intervention, does it? Just ask the OP of the suggestion for clarification on how the discouraging should be handled.

This is my forum signature! On a forum post, it is okay for Scratchers to advertise in their forum signature. The signature is the stuff that shows up below the horizontal line on the post. It will show up on every post I make.

I was a Scratch Team member from May 10th 2019 to October 29th 2021.

Now, for Discourage Support in OP, hte last few sentences describe it perfectly. I feel as though “Discourage” suggestions should be permitted, as long as its in good faith and provides an outline in how it may be discouraged.

when i see title of suggestion i should be able to formulate what the suggestion mainly is.
add a popup when open forum: good title

The title is meant to be an overall view of it. The post itself is what you base your post on.
Posts should not necessarily cater to those who won’t read them.

I'd say that the only thing I would do is encourage them to not say “discourage” and actually explain how

Misconceptions about the Scratch Room

* Low floor: It should be easy to climb in and get started with Scratch - even for Scratchers who have no experience programming. - This does NOT mean complex things shouldn't be added. Making the ceiling higher or the walls wider doesn't make the floor harder to get on.
* Wide walls: Scratchers should be able to make all kinds of things with Scratch - not just animations and games, but news programs, science experiments, things we can't even imagine. - Wide walls means that some things that may be unconventional or odd or “useless” at first glance may still be worthwhile to add, because some people may find them useful for making new unique things.
* High Ceiling: Even though it's easy for someone who is new to programming to get started with Scratch, it should still be possible to make complex stuff. - Although the floor is there, many forumers just look up at the ceiling rather than thinking about the floor. They say “this would be too complicated, new Scratchers wouldn't understand it” without considering the fact that it can be worked up to with the handy floor we have.

But seriously, you kinda are doing the same things those suggestions are.
How will we discourage the discourage suggestions?

A bad title does not mean a bad post. If I made a shop on the requests forum, and titled it “art” (all lowercase) would the quality of the product be worse? Or, if there was a shop titled “things” would you read the original post to see what the “things” were?

I feel like this is a good idea - ‘discourage’ suggestions do literally nothing, considering you either ban something or don't - no one is going to listen to discouraging.
