We can roleplay/write a story here together if you want. I think we'll have a lot of fun with this.

Hi! So one thing I've done before is roleplaying original character(s) from a story, before it got shut down it was really fun! So we could do something like that, pick 1 (or more) characters from one of our stories, and then throw them into some situation together and see what goes down?

For example, if say, Shannon Messenger and Susanne Collins were going to do it, then for some reason, idk, Katniss and Peeta and Keefe and Sophie were all lost in the woods and met each other, and then had interesting conversations/adventures in character?

I feel like I'm bad at explaining it xD. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes it works less well, depending on the characters.

OR we could make some new characters and give them something to do together. Honestly don't care, all roleplaying is fun. But if we're making new characters it would be fun to make them an interesting dynamic.

Alright! I have a trio from one of my high fantasy stories that I like to use, so we could do that if you have a couple fantasy characters you want to play? (I feel like it's a little easier if they're from the same genre, then we don't have someone constantly explaining what a toaster is or stuff like that)

btw when I say high fantasy I just mean that the entire book is set in a different, magical world, like the lord of the rings/wings of fire/wingfeather saga, while low fantasy is set in our world (with magic) or has someone travel from our world to another, like KOTLC, harry potter, percy jackson, etc.

They way we did it before was basically just that the characters get dumped into this empty room or void, and then they have nothing to do but talk to the other characters, which works well if basically all we want them to do is talk to each other (and occasionally fight each other xD). Or we could do something simple like they just got inexplicably yeeted into the woods and now they're just walking around the forest, which gives oppurtunities for some cool actiony stuff.

I'm really into star stuff (not astrology) so forgive the star-related themes here loll xD
btw, do you want to include age or does that not matter much? c: Do you also want to include like a 1-2 paragraph history of how they were born, family history, etc?
I think it would be an interesting plot twist if our characters don't know each other. I feel like we could do a lot of plot development there and with their relationships. (IM SO EXCITEDDD xD)
~~~~~~
(Both have the ability to develop Astrokinesis (ability to metally manipulate star power) when they are of age (age will be revealed later))
Character 1: Estella Solaris // loves the night sky and the unique stars // can call upon the power of the stars in the night and the power of the sun during the day // star-gazing and taking long walks // girl // straight black hair, olive skin. teal eyes** with spots of Starlight embedded into them. No one can see this except her family ~ introverted with strangers, extroverted with family and friends //
Character 2: Atlas Sirius // enjoys hammering down on Starling metal to make powerful weapons (blacksmith, basically) and enjoys fencing with close friends // can manipulate the power of the stars during any point in the day and bring them to land (by shaping them into a weapon of pure Starlight) With heavy concentration, can also create small stars with blinding light // boy // dirty blonde, pale white skin, amber eyes* ~ Extroverted with friends and strangers, introverted with family (family issues kinda guy) //
Star stuff actually works really well because my trio has a weird star connection too!
Age doesn't matter that much so long as they're about the same range, mine are (usually) pretty young tho 11, 13, 13 but I might make the decision to have them after their main storyline, where they'd be older, so maybe tell me your characters ages and I can fit mine around that?
Yes ofc they don't know each other, we gotta have all the tension of new people and getting to know each other!
And yeah let's do some backstory, but here's my trio just with the form:
Character 1:
Kaylani (Kay) // hates traitors/fake people/betrayal. A lot. // amulet allows her to turn invisible // spending time with people close to her, fun athletic stuff, mischief (sometimes) // girl // Long, wavy black hair, deep brown skin, purple eyes, athletic build. distrustful of new people (and can be kinda a jerk sometimes…), but extremely loyal to her friends. This is bc her old best friend betrayed her - distrustful, sarcastic, kinda a jerk to strangers / extremely loyal and protective of found family/friends //
Character 2:
Luca // loves games and storytelling (he's the most childlike) and his friends, hates conflict and suffering, worries A LOT // amulet allows him to manipulate electricity/lightning // playing/storytelling // boy // spiky red hair, very pale skin, scattered red freckles everywhere, icy blue eyes, skinny/small build. Very friendly, but also nervous so he seems shy, has weird people issues, panic attacks, nightmares - all of these problems caused by an unfortunate accident involving his powers. He now refuses to use them or wear his amulet. - kinda scared of strangers, but also friendly at the same time, it's hard to explain / loves family and friends like crazy and doesn't want anything bad to happen to them - He's basically just a very very sweet (and traumatized) kiddo //
Character 3:
Xander (Xan) // … trying to figure himself out. Likes learning and fighting, dislikes injustice/people being jerks // amulet basically just makes him a supersoldier (extra speed/strength/etc) // learning about people/cultures, training (?) // boy // Black hair, light brown skin, strong/broad shouldered (but not like absurd, just vaguely jock-y if that makes sense?) been training to be a soldiery person from a young age, trying to find his own identity seperate from what his jerky sorta-father-figure wants him to be - diplomatic/polite approach to strangers / learning how to have relationships with family and friends //
Aren't I so nice to them? They have such happy easy lives…. oh wait nevermind. I'm an evil author mwahahaha /j.
anyways, a little info on the powery/star part, they're basically called ‘Laost’ (and they're kinda that trope of the one person with special powers whose gotta save everyone from the evil emporer but I promise they're more interesting than that-) anyways, legend has it that Laost are ‘fallen stars’ but that's not exactly right, maybe we could make some connection with the star magic you have tho - that'll be interesting to see how it plays out - and their powers come from these ‘amulets’ they have which are basically just gemstones on necklaces, but yeah they can only use their powers when they wear those.
And depending on what point of their arc they're in they have slightly different personalities bc, y'know, arcs and development.
bwahahaha why do I feel stupid trying to type out an explanation of them xDD
AND YES THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME :000
YESS SO EXCITED. I totally agree with the amulet idea part! I was kind of thinking about 15-16 years old for my characters.
and I love being a ‘'good’' author loll :3 hehehe.
I'm going to write up their backstories now, unless you want to give me any extra info/ideas?
Sounds good, honestly that makes it a little easier for me, I just make it so that this rp occurs after all their major story stuff went down, so if yours are 15/16 then Xan and Kay could be 15 and Luca 13.
haha most of the time I'm an evil author I just heap trauma on my characters mwahahaha.
Maybe include a bit about how the magic systems work in their world, because I feel like that's one of the most complicated parts? And I'll get to work on backstories/magic system for mine.
okay I'm very awkward and can't explain myself so hopefully this makes sense, but what do you wanna do for limits? or trigger warnings? like of course everything'll be scratch friendly and appropriate and all, but is there anything specific you wanna avoid? and for like, v!olence, what for that? obv nothing over the top, but if we'd be talking about like, a war or a fist fight or something, would that be alright? I mean I know we both like the hungergames, so up to like, that level is probably fine for both of us, and I know this's kinda a weird question and you'll probably say smt like it's fine, but I feel like it's just important to know what both of us are comfortable with going in. /genq
I'm good loll. no triggers or limits, yeah I'm working on the magic system for my world. Are the amulets systems the same tho? if so, could you send a sample of it so I can incorporate that way I don't royally screw smth up o.o
lol yeah that was mostly me overthinking everything anyways–
Honestly, no one really knows how the amulets stuff works, it's kinda stereotypical in some ways but I like it– basically some stars ‘fall’ and then the laost just… show up wherever they need to be raised, with their amulets. Then they grow up and eventually learn to use their powers, and at some point in their lives they'll have the oppurtunity to protect Laoa (that's their world basically) from some big problem (like a war, or an evil emporer, or idk maybe even a huge natural disaster, something). Also, the amulets can be passed down to a descendant of the Laost.
I'm not sure about other magic but it is there… um… I spend a lot more time thinking about these characters/plot stuff than about the actual magic systems of the world, which I should probably figure out at some point xD
They don't really have to be that connected tho, each of them kinda has their own magic but the characters could find connections when the magic is actually being explained/in action? It seemed like your magic was mainly star related, so maybe that's the tie in? That all the magic kinda comes from the stars, it's just percieved/used differently?
Backstories:
*going to do first person in a diary form just for fun
** And I figure why not incorporate hints of God here because we're Catholic and it adds a sense of mystery to everything
*** well it seems we were going in the same direction so just read through this and tell me your thoughts or to make any tweaks to magical systems cause it's kinda chaotic (and I'm going to shower soon in case I disappear for 2 hrs or smth)
Estella (15 years old, present-day):
Age 12-
Today's a special day. More for my family than me. The amulet of Starling has been passed down through each generation. One for the female, one for the male. Each of the amulets is separate from each other, which means they are not in the same family. Each amulet has a different name depending on the family it's passed down from, but all the amulets are called Laost, for the name symbolizes their special connection to the stars. On the female or male's 12th birthday, their family amulet is passed down to them. The family's oldest ancestor then trains the children for their Quest, only known to the Maker of the Stars, who is not of this land. The Quest could be singular for one person or joined with others. No one ever knows until their day comes by the mark of the–
“Stella!” a voice shouts. My mother. She always expects so much from me. I'm used to it. But it bugs me today. I suppose I'd rather have a sense of independence. I pull on my amber-colored tunic and my brown boots. I check my hair in the steel mirror once more and walk out of the hut.
My family is small. I know this fact. But it seems like there are many more people today. It's dark out because the ceremony is always done at midnight. The time when the power of the stars is the strongest. There is a pathway made of people and my family at the very end in a circle. When I get to them, I stand face to face with Grandfather Neptune. Our Ancient of the family, who will be training me in these next couple years of my life.
The family circle closes.
“Today,” he begins, “marks the start of Estella Solaris' Journey. In the light of this night, I bestow upon her the amulet of Starling. Passed down from generations since the beginning of time, the Maker now grants her the power of many generations of the past and of the future. To guide and to protect. To lead and know.”
He says a prayer, only passed and known to and through Ancients.
He steps closer and brings the amulets to my neck. The dark turquoise jewel reflects my face. Determined. Older.
“Today, you become part of the Starling tribe.” He says to me.
Grandfather then snaps the cord around my neck. I look up to the stars and smile. The stars are shaped like a heart. Like I have a protector within the stars.
Atlas (age 16, present-day):
Age 13 (13 is on purpose instead of 12) -
I hammer down on the Starling metal. There are many types of star-made metals, but Starling I find is the easiest to handle, although my uncle, the greatest of star-smiths, cannot mold it to a shape. Tonight will be a special night, I've been told. It was supposed to happen a year ago. But the amulet didn't accept me. The legend is that it clasps to the next generation on its own. But when Grandfather Aster tried to snap it around my neck, it did not respond. They say it happens every other generation. The amulet believes I am immature. It will be proven wrong this year. As the full moon rises, signaling the near of midnight, I put away the hammer and my weapons and change into my teal-colored tunic and silver boots. I am usually confident, but there's fear in me. And doubt. I keep wondering if the amulet will reject me and has done so because of my father and what he did. The reason he's gone. I try not to think about it because it angers me. How could he leave my mother and me on our own?
I've been through the ritual before. After I walk down the path, the circle forms and Grandfather does the prayer and sayings. He brings the amulet to my neck. I see my reflection in the familiar turquoise gemstone. I shiver at the memory of a year ago, but I push it away. I am strong. I glimpse Grandfather's face. He is a stoic man, but he is my Grandfather. That is why I see the concern beginning to form at the memory of last year. But I have trust in the Maker. When Grandfather snaps the amulet to my neck, I freeze. I hear an unfamiliar click. I breathe out a breath I didn't realize I had held and look to the sky. I see the stars in the shape of a heart. My Maker loves me and protects me and the stars tell me this. A peace I have never felt settles into my soul. Despite my past, there is a future for me.
Okay, I have to get ready for school and go to bed soon, so I'll write my backstories out in the morning and I'll be going offline soon but:
(note: Lukayxan is just what I type when I mean the three of them)
first of all, something that's really cool is we basically went the same place on one point without even mentioning it – in the story Lukayxan are from, there are kinda 2 cultures with 2 deities, Laoa and Karr, Xan is raised Karrn so he thinks of Karr and Kay and Luca are raised Laoan so they think of Laoa, but they're actually the same– both Laoa and Karr mean ‘Maker,’ so it's just each country's name for the same person, coincidentally probably the same as the Maker your characters have.
I wasn't expecting you to give them amulets but I think it's pretty cool that you made them Descendants - Lukayxan aren't, they're the first people to have their amulets, but they've met descendants before so it works just fine for your chars to be - they just handle it in a different way then the Descendants I've seen before - which is cool, and makes sense because they're two seperate groups of people, so ofc they'd create their own traditions. It all seems to work fine to me tho, and obv this is a very cool culture you're creating!
I think you're characters would definitely be from somewhere else than mine… probably just another area/country/etc. (Just because ofc they have their own traditions and culture) Overall that works fine tho, we just need a reason for them all to be in the same place at the same time.
Anyways, talk more in the morning, bye!
I have volleyball practice later, but I just wanted to start figuring out some baseline things when we begin our RP.
Questions and Notes/Guidelines –>
1: Which POV are we writing in? (Do we each want to write in different POV's or consistent on both sides of the aisle, so to speak)
2: Do we want to do a character or paragraph (probably preferred actually, watching characters is a pain) limit so we each have equal amounts of writing and take turns or does that not matter much?
3: We should make sure to have a parenthesis in the beginning or end of each post so we can communicate ideas or plot twists & plans while we continue the story.
4: Obviously no chatspeak, bc (lol) who would want to deal with translations xD
5: Make sure to follow Scratch Guidelines and respect each other's opinions if we don't feel comfortable going a certain way with the story.
6: Once you post your backstories and I'm back from practice (I'm leaving at 6:00 PM PST btw), we'll talk about how to start it since, as you mentioned earlier, we need a reason for our character to be in the same place at the same time
7: PLEASE share any other ideas. I love collaboration and I am really interested in hearing what you have to say or how you'd like to start out the story. TEAMWORKKKK for the WINNNN!!! xD
Alrighty, you're not gonna be back for a while but this is basically a little backstory for each of them, and then a quick summary of the other important stuff that goes down–
Kay was raised mostly by her village ‘wise woman’ (kinda like the ancients you're ppls have probably); and was kinda a weirdo/outcast because, well, she's this random kid with no family except the kinda crazy-magic-old-lady so yeah. Anyways, her best friend was Mica, and he was the only one who knew that she had an amulet. Then these bounty hunters showed up, and he sorta betrayed her and turned her in to them. But she ran away, spent a while travelling around on her own, until she met Luca.
Luca was kinda just raised by the entire village, he's just a sweet kiddo and everyone loved him. He was pretty sick as a baby for some reason, and uh… not sure exactly how this works but he's… 2 years younger? than he should be? (cough weird stuff that I did because I needed him to show up at the same time as the other two and also be younger than them so uh yes–) Like technically he's fifteen but he's physically and mentally 13… okay anyways moving on– He was kinda shy, but had a great friend named Mia. Life was actually pretty amazing. Untillllllll he wore his amulet for the first time, got a giant power overload, and effectively destroyed his entire village and everyone in it . Oh but for some reason Mia survived so that this guy could show up and kill her– um yeah so then he was travelling around on his own, until he met Kay.
Xan got the short straw. Anyways, he was ‘raised’ by this guy called the General… bc I didn't give him a name…. anyways he's basically just been a soldier since he was a little kid and never had a family or friends. Anyways, a while later some stuff went down and he almost k!lled Kay and Luca, but instead he got shoved into a river, then after Kay saved him (she didn't want to, Luca insisted) he pretended he'd lost his memory so that they would let him stay with them, they ended up becoming friends. And then later he betrayed them. Kay was very happy about that. Anyways.
So a lot of stuff happens, but the super quick version is: they meet, they end up in this place called Mountain Village (yes it's a village in a mountain… eventually it'll get a better name just bear with me here xD) and make some friends, then they get betrayed/captured and go to the General's fortress place, Xan decides to desert and frees Lukay, later they all get caught by these Resistance people, but end up befriending them, then they end up in a village full of Descendants, and then… (totally not a giant plot hole here cough cough) eventually Luca gets like… controlled? um anyways and makes a bunch of shadowy monster things, lots of fighting, then Luca blasts away all the shadowy monsters and dissapears and they all thought he was dead, and thennnnnnn um everything gets fixed. Anyways, that's my story thanks for listening——
lolll why do I feel like it sounds stupid when I try to explain it asdfasdf
Questions and Notes/Guidelines:
1: Which POV are we writing in? (Do we each want to write in different POV's or consistent on both sides of the aisle, so to speak)
I think it would work best if we both wrote in third person objective? Just to limit confusion since we both have multiple characters?
2: Do we want to do a character or paragraph (probably preferred actually, watching characters is a pain) limit so we each have equal amounts of writing and take turns or does that not matter much?
I feel like it doesn't matter too much, but try to keep them generally simaler lengths?
3: We should make sure to have a parenthesis in the beginning or end of each post so we can communicate ideas or plot twists & plans while we continue the story.
Sounds good, yep! Usually how I do it is just anything that isn't part of the rp goes in (( ____ ))
4: Obviously no chatspeak, bc (lol) who would want to deal with translations xD
Yep, that'll be simplest… it'll get difficult if we gotta ask for clarifications every five minutes xD…
I don't use a lot, but I apologize in advance because I'll definitely be in a rush and forget at least once.
5: Make sure to follow Scratch Guidelines and respect each other's opinions if we don't feel comfortable going a certain way with the story.
