I ran into a problem once there as well, so I support increasing it to at least 10k.

I wonder if there's limits to other stuff too, like project descriptions…

There are limits to project titles, project descriptions, studio titles, studio descriptions, comments, usernames, AM's, WIWO's, and etc.

Back to the topic. The limits are used to prevent spam and people from misusing the spaces. Without the limit, the servers will be in big trouble.

It's kind of brief, but you would probably get into a bit of trouble if you wanted to put in over three times the amount of information; why would we need this much information? There may be a lot of rules, information, or/and members of your studio that you may want to put in the description, so there probably wouldn't be a lot of room for ASCII or Unicode decoration in the description. The description is probably supposed to be a quick way to know more about the studio, but linking to projects because of the character limit may not be the most efficient. Project descriptions probably don't have a character limit, so why do studios have a character limit? I think it should be increased to at least around 10,000-20,000.

The same as the studio limit

With increased room, individuals may stuff the description full of nonsensical or spammy information, making the site look messy. Longer descriptions would be harder to police for the Scratch Team, especially if they include rule-violating content. Depending on how Scratch is built, really long descriptions would potentially make pages take longer to load or lead to formatting glitches (especially on mobile). Others would argue that user/player data might be placed into a project, studio comment section, or even a Google Doc link, rather than changing the Scratch infrastructure.
