Edit: I'm not saying to exactly use the AI image. Maybe just shift the SC sprite to kind of look like it.

Yeah, the benefit of the current Scratch Cat sprite is that it is “simple” — if someone wanted to play around with the Scratch art editor, they can use the Scratch Cat sprite to do so, and the current sprite has a low number of parts to it, so it's easy to play around with it. This is especially important considering that the Scratch Cat is the first sprite that most newcomers see and have access to.

I don't see why this is needed. The sprite is simple and cute enough, it's easy to code with and animate. A photo, especially the one you provided would look quite weird, and you already know how i feel about AI

+ The Scratch cat is so integral to Scratch's image, I doubt they'd change it now

I'm sort of on the fence about this suggestion. The Scratch Cat that you suggested with AI prompted like everyone else pointed out looks… off and out of place, in my opinion. I never had a good feeling about AI and auto-generated images and sprites.

this is very subjective, personally I think Scratch cat is already cute.

I don't think this is needed, the Scratch Cat is already very cute!

Fun fact: they tried using a four-legged version of Scratch Cat in pre-3.0 (nicknamed “Cosmicat”), but was removed in favor of a design more similar to the 2.0 cat.
