Counseling Studio?
I have seen many Scratcher's quit because of fighting/drama going on on their programs and profiles. This really saddens me because some of them were really good people. So me and a few of my friends started this counseling group where people can go and get help. Maybe the Scratch team could add like an instant support chat with the Scratch Team or something if someone gets bullied.

Counseling Studio?
That is a wonderful idea!
I think the scratch team should implement it.

Well, any sort of fighting on Scratch really should be reported instead of continuing to feed into the conversation (which we often find makes things worse, based on experience). That's why we added flag/report buttons, and even a “Contact Us” link that can be found at the bottom of every Scratch webpage.
One of the concerns regarding galleries/studios designed to give help to those who have encountered mean comments on the Scratch website is they often become public repositories for reports (and having reports public can often lead to nasty rumors or more fights). Another concern is that it sometimes the gallery/studio ends up becomes an unintentional substitute for the report system and the reports are not being seen by administrators. That's a problem for us - the last thing we need is for drama to become worse and/or for drama to go unreported.
On top of that, each case is different - it's a little harder to trust that the person over the internet is qualified to do counseling. (And even sometimes the Scratch Team encounters cases where involvement of a parent or teacher is needed).
The intention is good, but I'm not sure if the counseling aspect and studio theme is the right way to go here. A better idea might be to have a collection of projects explaining what to do if one encounters a mean comment or project on the Scratch website.

I understand how these kind of studios can become a place for people to bully other people, but even with those projects explaining what to do with a mean comment or project, people might not report it. Perhaps you could add a couple more moderators? I don't think a couple more mods would hurt. Even with more moderators, we still need users to report the disrespectful/inappropriate material so mods know where to looks.I understand how these kind of studios can become a place for people to bully other people, but even with those projects explaining what to do with a mean comment or project, people might not report it. Think of it this way - you can increase the number of emergency responders available, but they can't help anybody if no one phones in when an emergency occurs.

Yeah, get what you mean. But wouldn't more mods on the site, when they're going through programs and stuff at least decrease the chance of bullying?Even with more moderators, we still need users to report the disrespectful/inappropriate material so mods know where to looks.I understand how these kind of studios can become a place for people to bully other people, but even with those projects explaining what to do with a mean comment or project, people might not report it. Only if the current mods are burned out and overwhelmed. At some point, the Scratch website will likely to get bigger and then we'll need more mods to sort through reports more quickly (we do scheduled check-ins with mods to determine if that is needed).Yeah, get what you mean.
