Weekly for SRC!
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first weekly! Let's get started!

Part 1:
Quick, look to your left! The first thing you see, write it down. Now, find a book starting with the first letter of that thing. For example, the first thing I saw was a hat. So, I might choose something like Harry Potter or the Hunger Games. Read at least 50 pages of that book.
Now, write a short summary of what you just read. What do you think will happen next? What could the characters do better? What would you do if you were in the story?
Use a forum to write your summary in. If you don't know how to make one, directions are here:
How to make a forum:
Since you are in a forum right now, simply scroll up and you'll see a thing saying “Discussion Forums >> Things I'm Making and Creating >> @dolphin786's writing thread” Click on “Discussion Forums”.
This will take you to the main forum page with all the different topics like Collaboration, Show and Tell, etc. Find the one that says ‘Things I’m Making and Creating’ and click on it. Then in the corner there is a purple button that says “New topic”. Click that and you have your own thread! Name it something like “SRC writing” or “@username's writing thread” or whatever you want! Then you can make posts and stuff.
Note: You might want to bookmark your thread, so you don't have to go to the Discussion Home every time to get it.

Your summary should be at least 50 words. Have fun, be creative! Here's an example:
Weekly 1, SRC.
Part 1:
My object was a hat. I read 62 pages of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Here's my summary:
On Harry Potter's birthday, Dobby the house-elf visited him while the Dursleys had guests over…
Enjoy! This segment will earn you 200 points for your cabin!

Part 2:
All right! You started reading a book and even wrote a summary! For this segment, find another item in the room. This time, you are going to find two books that both have or connect to that item in some way. For example, if this time the see my cat snoozing on the bed, I might choose Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate and Warriors by Erin Hunter, for both have cats.
However, if the cat does not have a real impact on the story, then that is not valid. For example, in Baker's Magic by Diane Zahler, Master Bouts has a cat name Kaatje, and the characters do talk about her, but she doesn't influence the story very much, therefore reading Baker's Magic would not be valid (sadly).
After you've chosen them, read at least 25 pages of each. Thoughts? Opinions? How are they different? Similar? Where do the cats (or whatever your object is) fit in? Write all these thoughts down in your forum.
Example:
Part 2:
My object was a cat. I read 32 pages of Crenshaw and 26 pages of Warriors: Into the wild. In Crenshaw, the cat is an imaginary friend. In Warriors
They are similar because…
They are different because…
I liked…
Yup, just list your thoughts! There are no limits, though I would appreciate if you didn't just put one word.
This segment will earn you 150 points for your cabin!

Part 3:
Welcome to the final segment! Great job for making it this far!
Previously, we have done reflection on your favorite books. But our opinions are different- today you are going to read 30 pages of a book of your choice to someone! (Examples of who you can read to: a parent, a younger sibling, an older sibling, your cat, etc.) Choose your book and person (or cat), and get reading! It can be any book (even one you wrote yourself) and you don't have to do it all at once- take your time, stretch it over a few days. Ask them how they thought of it when you finish!
For proof, simply say something like:
Part 3:
I read 32 pages of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl to my cat. I read until Chapter 7 (Charlie's birthday).
That last part is the proof part of it- include a sentence saying something like “I read until when Veruca Salt fell down the rubbish chute”.
This segment will earn you 150 points for your cabin!

Checklist
Congrats! You finished the weekly!
You earned:
200 points from Part 1
150 points from Part 2
150 points from Part 3
500 points in total!
To get your points, comment this in the Main Cabin:
"Weekly Challenge done for _______ Cabin! +500 points. Link to proof"

Great job everyone! <3 Hope you had fun, keep reading, and Scratch on!

Weekly for Storm Cabin:
Part 1:
When I looked to my left, I saw the hard-wood floor. So I chose Harry Potter, one of my favorite books.
Summary (74 words):
I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, from page 1 to page 57, from when Voldemort murdered Frank Bryce to when Harry is asking Ron why he is calling his owl ‘Pig’. Harry had convinced his uncle that he could go to the Quidditch Wold Cup, and now he is at the Burrow. Of course, before traveling by Floo Powder, Fred dropped Ton-tongue toffee for Dudley to eat (and got in trouble).

Part 2:

Daily for JWC - The Silver Trio - 695 words.
I chose Harry Potter (obviously) Here's a quick scene from the 7th book (only it happens at Hogwarts, with Ginny, Neville, and Luna (it's from the perspective of Ginny). Is that okay? If so, enjoy!

I managed to skip detention with the Carrows again. Which might have not been a good thing- the only reason it happened was because they were distracted by Michael Corner, who tried to set free a first year who was chained up.
“Polyjuice.” I said to the Fat lady, who swung open and let me in.
I scanned the Gryffindor common room for Neville. He was by the fire. I came up and sat.
Neville looked up gleefully. “Ginny! Skipped detention?”
“Yes,” I said, gazing into the fire and rubbing a gash on my cheek, and tossing my long red hair out of the way. “Listen, I've got an idea. Get Luna right away.”
Neville nodded, and took out his fake Galleon. Minutes later, we were huddled outside our common room.
“We need to steal the sword of Gryffindor.”
Neville looked aghast; Luna thoughtful. “Why? Isn't it in Snape's office?”
“Yes…” I said. “But listen. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were left things by Dumbledore. A deluminator, the Tales of Beadle and Bard, a Golden Snitch… and the sword.”
“But the sword is in Snape's office.”
“Exactly. The Minister refused to give them the sword. And… you know what I told you… that Harry slipped to me that they were going to go finish of… V-Voldemort. And Dumbledore probably wanted them to have a sword for a different reason than just a keepsake, right? It must be important to their, you know… mission.” I looked at them hopefully. “I don't know how we're going to get it to them once we get it, of course, but it's better than letting Snape have it.”
Neville grinned. “When do we do it?”
“Tomorrow night.”
And so, Seamus Finnigan levitated Nifflers into the Carrow's windows to cause a distraction (Lavender Brown also suggested letting Cornish pixies loose, having learned in their second year how… interesting… they were).
Neville, Luna, and me approached the stone gargoyle that lead to the headmaster's study. “Uh oh. What's the password?” Neville muttered.
"Reducto!“ I said, and the gargoyle disintegrated into ash.
We carefully climbed up the stone staircase. I opened the door.
”Snape keeps things so dark.“ Luna said cheerfully, pointing her wand at the shades, which lifted so we were able to see.
”There it is!“ I pointed my wand at the glass case, which shattered (”Finestra!“) and grabbed the ruby-encrusted hilt. (”Thieving from the headmaster!“ one of the portraits muttered disapprovingly.)
Shocked at what we had done, and how easy it had been, we started heading down the staircase.
”Ah,“ said a voice. Snape appeared out of the shadows. ”Detention, Weasley, Longbottom, Lovegood. Tomorrow, at exactly six, Hagrid's hut. Don't be late.“ The bat wrenched the sword out of my grip. ”And don't try it again, it'll be worse.“ And with that, Snape swept up into the office.
”Well,“ Neville said on the way to the common room. ”It's a wonder we didn't get sent to the Carrows.“
”Now Snape is going to have higher security.“ I said, defeated.
”Detention with Hagrid won't be that bad though,“ Luna said lightly. She looked encouragingly at me. ”Don't worry, we'll keep fighting. We've got each other.“ Luna headed off to the Ravenclaw common room.
”Polyjuice.“ I said dully to the Fat lady, and we were greeted by yells and cheers. ”Did you get it?“ ”Everybody, they broke into Snape's office!“ ”Even if they didn't… Ginny, Neville, and Luna, you are the next Golden Trio.“
Neville smiled. ”No, the Golden Trio is still out there. I reckon they're up to something, y'know?“ I nudged him hard.
”Still,“ Lavender smiled. ”You guys are keeping us- Dumbledore's Army- going. And when the Golden Trio arrives… we'll kick the Carrows out!“ There was roaring and applause at this.
”You guys are like the… Silver Trio!" Seamus put in.
I smiled and went up to the girl's dormitories.
Later, I still couldn't sleep. Was Harry thinking about me? Or maybe he had met some veela or something… well, I was thinking about him.
I smiled and turned over. Luna was right; we would fight until the end. After all, we were the Silver Trio.

A new place, a new world, never before. For never explored.
Down, go down, down deep.
Very strange, very odd.
Even to you, yet you venture onward.
Never ending, forever winding, always dark, yet ever so glorious. Excitement. Eternity.
Tall, long, wide, deep, whole. And hole. Go down. Up. And explore. Live. Find. Hope.
Under, over, below, above, in. And out. Jubilation and sorrow flow in your veins.
Ready, steady, and go. Entangle, enlarge. Wild, free. This is where you are meant to be.
Enjoy.

ADVENTURE

Word war with OliveWhisltes - 191 words

The sun rose over the palace; it's yellowish-orange walls reflecting off the hot, gooey moat. I walked nervously down the crumbly drawbridge (it was made of feta), which had just lowered itself. The king requested my presence at sunup, and many said he was more spicy than Pepper Jack. This could not be good.
Being a Swiss myself, it was a journey getting from Swisszerland to Cheddar Kingdom (yes, the king named it after himself). But I've heard that King Cheddar would get terribly angry when he didn't get what he wanted. But of course, what would he want from a young mail-carrier like me?
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to sign up for Messenger… but what choice did I have?
I address the guards clearly “Um, hello? The king called me to come. Can I enter?”
The guard gave a gruff nod, and I wasted no time.
The king was waiting for me when I entered. “You're late.” he accused.
I rolled my eyes. “I'm sorry, Your Cheesiness. What do you want me here for?”
The king scanned me. “You're the Messenger of Swisszerland, are you not?”

Word war with –Artsy_Girl–! - 272 words

Once upon a time that was not very long ago, in a land not very far away, something very strange happened. It was creepy; it drove people out, people whispered, people talked, and not one stayed. No one came back to Zreetown again. Most came to Perchance. My town. If you must know, I hate crowds, and suddenly our quiet town neighboring the “Ghost town” of Zree was full of people- loud, annoying, gossiping people. I don't have any folks myself; they all died of a disease I never found out, when I was an infant.
I usually escaped the crowds whenever I could, but I knew I couldn't forever. What had happened them made them come? What had happened to Zreetown?
One afternoon, I went to the small bakery on the corner of 21st street, owned by a young woman called Marcy. She was a quiet sort of girl, with light brown hair and was so thin it looked like a gust of wind would blow her away. I've always liked her; she seemed to understand.
The shop was empty when I entered (not like I expected anything else- everyone goes to Bane's Bakery on Main Street) and rang the bell on the counter. Marcy appeared.
“Hi,” I said, breathless from running. “I'd like a loaf, Marcy.”
Without a word, Marcy put a loaf of bread into a bag and handed it to me, giving a swift smile.
I handed her a few coins and was almost at the door when I slowly turned and said. “Marcy… where are you from?”
Marcy looked frightened for a minute. Then- “Zree.”

Daily! - 563 words
I should not have been fiddling in the garage that night. Or the night before. Or for the last three years.
It's just that, well, I like building stuff. Stuff like rocket ships and flying cars and a toothbrushing machine. For the last year I've been trying to make a time machine.
It looked a bit odd- a tall box with loose screws and buttons everywhere, along with a bit of purple gum (purple's my favorite color). It wasn't much, but it was as best as a 13 year old girl could do.
But what if it works? I thought. That would show Lara and Polly and Mary and the other girls from school that I'm not such a black haired, shy, weirdo.
Of course, what would Mother say? What if I wouldn't be able to come back?
I grabbed a flashlight and stepped inside the small, cramped space. It was pretty simple- there were two buttons- one said ‘Go’ in painted letters and the other said ‘Home’. You click ‘Go’ to go somewhere and ‘Home’ to return. I don't know how to make it so you can choose where you are going.
I closed the door, and pressed ‘Go’.
Absolutely nothing happened. Was this going to be a fail, just like all my other inventions?
I jabbed ‘Go’ again. “Go, go!” I muttered.
Nothing happened. I sighed, reaching to open the handle. Accidentally, I pressed the ‘Go’ button with my elbow on the way.
The box lurched. Then nothing happened.
I sighed again and opened the door.
The air was misty. I could just make out a huge castle through the fog. “Oh!” I cried. “OH! It worked!”
I was so dumbfounded and mystified and shocked and perplexed and bewildered and surprised, I remained calm and started through the grass.
The castle was surrounded by a huge moat. Something seemed to snap in the murky water, and I took a step back.
The drawbridge was lowered, but immediately raised as I approached.
Then I heard a noise. i looked up and saw a man in armor on the top of a tower and yelling something I couldn't understand. Until he raised his crossbow.
“Okay, okay!” I called. “I'm leaving don't worry, I didn't mean to cause harm-”
“What's goin' on?”
“An intruder! Just outside the gates!”
“Feed 'im to the crocodiles!”
Crocodiles? Okay, that was probably what was in the moat.
I ran as two armed and armored men came charging from the castle. They stopped dead when they saw me.
“Purple!?” one howled.
"On'y royals are allowed to wear purple, miss!“
”Who d'yeh think you are?“
”Let's take ‘er to the dungeons! Do yeh think the queen would be fine with tha’?"
I didn't stick around to find out.
Making my way back to the time machine, I threw the door open and hurried in.
Wiping sweat form my rippling jet black hair, I made for the ‘Home’ button- I was done with this adventure. Before I'd even reached it, the whole machine gave a lurch. Wildly, I looked down and saw elbow had pressed the ‘Go’ button.
I carefully looked around. Was I still in the medieval times? It was impossible to tell; it was pitch black inside the box, with only my flickering flashlight for company.
Hesitantly, I opened the door.

I'll add more later!

Word war with ReadWriteSing! - 222 words :0

I poked my beak. It was time to get out of this dark space. Finally, I was out in the sunshine. My vision was hazy. My parents cooed and flapped their wings, making the bundle of sticks we were in shake. I crawled out of the blue speckled egg.
It was good to be in the world.
-
I tapped my toe impatiently on the ground. What was taking her so long?
Finally, my mother came swooping into the nest, carrying a fat worm in her beak.
My younger sister, Jo, scrambled to get it first. She beat me to it. Oh, well.
-
I stood on the edge of the nest with Jo. She jumped first, chirping madly as she fell. My mother softly whispered encouragements. I jumped of too.
The wind howled, the tree shook, Jo managed to get back to the nest, and I fell.
I flapped my wings. Harder. I stayed in midair. Then I wobbly flew upward to the nest. It was a start.
Days later, I soared. I glided. I dived. I was flying!
-
I accepted one last worm from Mother. Then I flew off. I left. Hopefully ready to fend for myself.
-
But I wasn't. I got into this mess. I'm trapped there is no hope.
-
I try. I fly. I fight. But my efforts become nothing.

Author's Note:
It's a bird, if you haven't already guessed.
:sob: I was just getting to the good part when my timer rang
Hope you enjoyed… maybe I'll continue it /j

I am a tortoise. I live in a small burrow under a hill, and hardly anyone pays any attention to me.
That is, until one day, a hare overheard me saying in the morning, after a nice long hibernation “Ah! What a beautiful day! I feel really… fast!”
As you know, he challenged me to a race, and got distracted, allowing me to win.
But now… well, everybody celebrated my victory. I got a trophy and a banquet of flowers (which were delicious) and, well, fame, mostly. Even humans like you know me. But the old hare… not so much.
I wanted to be friends. So what if I won the race- it was just a small thing, so what if I won, we are both famous now (though him not in a good way) and we shared interests. But no.
Maybe he refused, white with anger and shame, because now he was mocked everywhere he went? I wish I hadn't won the race- it made me feel responsible.
And there was another thing… we were friends, when we were children. But we got in a fight and never made up.
One day, I passed the hare in the park. “Hey, how's it going?” I asked nonchalantly.
He stood up. “You just won ‘cause you were lucky,” he whispered. “If we tried again…” he looked sideways at me.
-
Three days later, the race course was all set up. Me and the hare lined up at the starting line. Thousands had come to see; banners read ’REMATCH! WHO WILL WIN?' and ‘HARE V.S. TORTOISE’.
Finally, the fox who was refereeing shouted "Three… two… one… GO!"

:sobs: timer just rang at the good part

Toys ʚїɞ SWC Writing Comp Entry ʚїɞ 1031 words <3

Have you ever wondered what happens to your toys when you are away or asleep? Do your dolls just keep staring blank stares? Do your action figures stay in their appropriate places, or move, talk to each other? And if they do, why don't we ever notice?
In this story, you will find out.
-❀-
“Eliza! Where are you!?”
Eliza dropped her doll on the ground with a thunk. “Oops,” she said. “Coming, Mom!”
Her mother appeared in the doorway. “We are leaving soon. Are you ready?”
“Yup!' Eliza said excitedly. Sometimes eight-but-almost-nine-year-olds can get very excited. ”I wanna make a sand castle!“
”We'll be there for a week. You will probably have time to build many sandcastles.“ Her mother smiled.
”Oh, boy! At the beach for a whole week! Yes!“ Eliza grinned, pumping the air with her fist.
”Come on now, get in the car.“
They left the room.
At first, there was absolute silence in Eliza's room. Nothing happened. And nothing continued to happen, even as the blue minivan outside gave a puff and zoomed off to the beach. The pink toy car stayed a pink toy car. The pink wallpaper stayed pink. The pink unicorn stuffed animal stayed a- you know what I mean.
But then, minutes later, slowly, miraculously, the doll Eliza dropped sat up.
She was a very pretty doll, with a lacy pink dress and earrings and long blond hair in a braid and a mundane and frozen smile. Slowly the frozen smile turned into something else. Her face showing relief and exasperation, she stood and called in a tinkling voice ”I think they've really gone! For a whole week, too! Though I do wish she wouldn't throw me like that.“ The doll straightened her braid.
A stuffed frog on the shelf jumped down and croaked ”Really, Jessie? Stop complaining, you know that I-“
”Ah, don't start that again, Croakie.“ A tiny race car tumbled by the crayon drawing on the wall and landed on the fluffy pink rug. ”We know that Ellie never plays with you-“
The pink stuffed unicorn on the shelf said ”Really, Zoom, you claim the girl has owned you ever since she was two and you still don't know that her name is Eliza?“
”Ellie, Erin, Emma, Eliza, who cares.“ Zoom said. ”See if I do, Sparkler.“
”It's Sparkles!“
”All right, all right,“ said Jessie smoothly. ”Do you realize what this means? The girl and her parents are gone for the whole week! We have the whole house to ourselves!“
By now, all the toys were up and about, moving from their stiff positions and stretching. At Jessie's words, they all started buzzing excitedly.
”Oh, I've always wanted to see the kitchen!“ said a stuffed raccoon. ”I want to get outside this pink room once and for all!“ A wind-up duck said. A jack-in-the-box squealed ”Let's go!“
”Wait!“ said Sparkles, climbing down from the shelf nimbly. ”We must be smart about this. I know we can play day and night, but what happens when they come home and everything's out of order?“
”You worry too much!“ A ball rolled for the open door. ”C'mon, everyone!“
”I agree with Bounce!“ ”Let's go!“ ”Time to explore!“ And the toys all left the room. Sparkles followed (a bit eagerly).
Down in the kitchen, some toys were playing volleyball. Bounce was in the center, waiting to be thrown. A net was made from a cut plastic bag strung across on two pencils. The toys were deciding the teams. It took a while.
”I get Maysie, Lee, Jessie, Squishanella, Croak, Star, and Bernicortionalifoltonica!“ The stuffed raccoon (named Furry) shouted finally.
A dog with roller-skates, a toy bulldozer, the doll (Jessie), a can of Playdough, the frog, a star plushie, and another doll who was muttering ”It's Bernicortionalifaltonica, not Bernicortionalifoltonica! How dare you!“ all joined Furry on one side.
”Oh, come on Bernie, stop complaining.“ Maysie rolled her eyes and almost slipped on her roller-skates. She picked up Bounce and served. The ball zoomed around knocking all the pots and pans and silverware over and shouting ”Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
Meanwhile, another four toys had dragged out a chess set and started playing. But it turned out they didn't know how to play and ended up throwing the pieces at each other.
A lone stuffed platypus had climbed into the washing machine and was now whizzing around inside. ”Yay! This is fun! I wonder why Eliza doesn't have a roller-coaster-machine in her room!“ Hearing ”fun“ and ”roller-coaster-machine“, some other animals lined up outside, waiting for a turn.
Some were simply causing chaos: A squishmallow named Leonard, who was a lion with a rainbow mane, was swinging from a chandelier (”Yippeeeee!"), the jack-in-the-box was spilling cereal all over the floor, and a mischievous yellow ball of fluff called Katie was taking balls of stuffing from the sofa (she had broke it open) and was the throwing them at the TV, evidently trying to break it.
The toys were going a bit crazy with their new privilege to roam the house as they pleased.
As you can imagine, when Eliza and her family came home, happy from their vacation to the beach, they were met by chaos. The toy's secret was out. And, even though Eliza never told a soul about the toys coming alive, the rest of the toys in the world heard about it, as the story went from house to house, toy to toy.
-❀-
Now Eliza is 43 years old and has four children, but to this day she has not told anybody about the secret. However, the toys know. The story of the naughty toys became a kind of fable, a legend, telling the toys, reminding them that they must not let their owners know the secret.
Because your toys are indeed alive, and now you know it. So please keep quiet and don't tell anyone.
But know, in your heart, when you play with your stuffed animals and toy cars, that you are not alone.

Author's Note:
idk why i chose this for my entry; it's one of my more goofy pieces, but all the same, hope you enjoy!

I think they're writing a thread of their daily thoughts. Maybe just quote or react to them, idk.

Daily ʚїɞ 664 words

I bolt through the forest, keeping an eye out for the you-know-whats. Over the river, past that big oak tree, under the moldy log, past the flower field, and a little more through the bushes…
I skid to a stop by a large mushroom. Actually, large is an understatement. The mushroom is 13 and a half feet tall. And it has a window and a door.
I open the door without knocking. “Li!” I cry, bursting in.
My best friend, a sly red fox named Lianna, turns to look at me. “Willow!” she runs forward and hugs me.
“When did you get back?” I ask, sitting wearily at the stump table. “I only just found out.”
Li hands me a cookie. “Last night.” She takes one herself. “What has the forest been up to?” she looks at me. “You'd know, poking your nose everywhere as you do.” Her eyes twinkled.
I laugh; it's true- I know everything that goes on here… well, almost everything.
My smile fades a bit. “Oh, the usual. That hare- Skip- challenged Blossom for a rematch. I don't get why hares want to race with tortoises anyway. And the ol' butterfly- Flutter?- saw a human cut down a tree, gave her fright. And…”
I fall silent.
“And…?” Li prompts me.
“That's why I wanted to talk to you so fast. It's…”
Just then, Li's mother walks in. “Ah, hello Willow, how are you?”
“Good, thank you Mrs. Raiens.” I say politely. “How was the East Side?” I ask the question I had not yet asked Li.
“Oh, wonderful. Lianna loved the mountains, didn't you, Li?”
I noticed Li's smile became rather fixed. “Oh, yes.” she looks at me, scared. “Wonderful.”
“Well, I have to go see Mrs. Sprout, I going to trade some soap for eggs. Good day, Willow. And Lianna, don't forget to clear the table.” Mrs. Raiens left.
“Still going to move, then?” I ask bitterly, even though I know it's not her fault.
“Just thinking.” She won't look at me. “Just went to check a place out, one with less humans.” Li changes the subject. “What were you talking about, then?”
“Oh, right.” I feel foolish that it has taken me so long to say so- I kind of lost the dramatic effect (but hey, with her mom there…)
“Li, I think… the're coming.”
“Who?” she asks, though it dawns on her face the worst possibility. The you-know-whats.
I just shake my head, and her fear is confirmed. “Do you still have it with you?”
She nods, and takes a napkin out of her pocket. Tucked inside it is a glistening white stone. I reach out, but Li jerks her hand and the stone falls to the floor. That's right, the Magic Stone falls to the cold stone floor. With a loud thud.
I'm quicker, so I reach it first. I scoop it up and inspect it. “Hey,” I say slowly.
“I'd better put it back.” says Li shakily.
“Li,” I say, worried. “Look at it.” She obliges.
“Hey, there's a scratch on it.” Li sighs.
"Li, this is made from diamond. Stone can't scratch diamond.“ I indicate to the hard stone floor.
”What do you mean?“
”I don't know.“ I rack my brains. Then, suddenly, I throw the Magic Stone onto the floor, and, despite Li's screams, stomp.
It shatters.
”Willow!“ Li shrieks. She falls silent. ”I trusted you.“
I shake with anger as she continues.
”You've been working for them the whole time! Now they will come back to power!“ She looks wild. ”I trusted you!“ She said again. ”We're friends!“
”No, Li, listen. Diamond can't break like that. It's a fake."
~
We bolt back, through the bushes, past the flower field, under the moldy log, past that big oak tree, over the river…
I stop dead.
In his palm, the stone.
There they are. I told her. They came, the know-know-whats…
The Big Bad Wolf Pack.

Word War with Cat_Lover4132! ʚїɞ 233 words

“Kate!” I yell down a long, dark tunnel. No answer.
I look around. I'm trapped. In a dark room, yes, with a panel in the wall, leading down to a dark tunnel. But I'm also trapped inside myself.. How could this have happened? Just by choosing…
That door.
At first I thought it was a mistake, but Kate realized the truth. "Someone's bewitched it,“ she whispered. ”It was meant to be."
That's probably why she was taken.
So, it seemed, someone wanted us to get here. Doors usually take people where they want to go, not their doom (okay, fine, there was that time in the principal's office…)
The door was supposed to go to, well, somewhere… new. Of course, this was new, but not at all good.
So I take a deep breath, and start down the tunnel.
The tunnel slopes downward, getting more darker as it goes. I find a match in my pocket and light it. At least some comfort there.
This place used to be an old hotel…but now, it was full of creeks and creeps and ghosts and… magic. I hate to admit it, but it's definitely magic that brought us here.
“Kate?” I yell again, and my light grows steadily dimmer. The tunnel now steeply slopes downward.
I look for

Daily for SWC ʚїɞ 442 words

I look out over everything I had known for so long. The purple hills, the squishy trees, the friendly land, the odd animals, the mangos.
I feel like I have known this place forever, though I haven't.
I remember my five-year-old self living on planet Glooptron, asking my father “Why, Papa, why? Why do we have to move?”
I remember his answer: “This place isn't safe anymore.”
I didn't know what he meant, but I had to leave my friends and my home anyway.
But when we arrived here, it was different than I expected. My five-year-old self made friends immediately.
I doubt I can do that now.
And even worse, when I ask my father the same question I asked him years ago, well, I didn't really get a straight answer. Stuff like “You can't have anything you want in life,” and “Let's try to start new,”
I don't want to leave Mangoville. I don't want to leave planet Glimmernus at all.
When I ask “Where are we going?”
“A new planet,” Mother wouldn't look at me. “It's called Gornollas.”
My heart flipped. “Gornollas?” I croaked.
“Yes,” she said, still avoiding eye contact.
“But… why?” I ask, my voice more tinier than I meant it to be. “Isn't it… like… really, really far from here?”
She didn't answer, but I knew it was true. Gornallas is millions of miles away, and I know nothing about it.
And I don't like surprises.
“Hazel!” My father called. “We're leaving!”
I slowly get up and walk over to our ship. Our house is all packed up inside (thanks to a new techno-shrinking-thingy-device.)
My hair falls over my face, hiding my tears. My hair is reddish-purple with a streak of green- and still, I look more like a human than anyone else.
I know my parents aren't punishing me, taking me from the place I- and they- love most. But they're strict, so “No surprise!” when my mother glared at me.
“Hurry, Hazel, we need to leave.” She looks around, making sure no one is watching (she needn't worry- we live four miles away from the nearest town.) She doesn't want anyone to know we're leaving.
~
Sobbing days later, we are almost there.
I suppose there isn't much to talk about traveling. I told myself to get a grip, but more tears just slid out.
With a thud we arrived.
When the door opened, I tried to gasp, but no sound came out.
I tried to laugh, but my throat was constricted with shock.
I tried to hug my parents, but my limbs wouldn't move.
Here we are.
Home.
