Whenever the filter is checking a comment in a non-English language, translate it to English first
^^ Doing this will help improve the moderation for people who don't know English, and will help make maintaining the filter much easier for the Scratch Team.

Whenever the filter is checking a comment in a non-English language, translate it to English first
Iirc Google translate deliberately tries to not translate things into swears wherever possible

Iirc Google translate deliberately tries to not translate things into swears wherever possibleThen they could use something like Yandex translate, which is much more trustworthy because:
- if anyone tries to hack them in their home country (Russia), then the hacker has broken the local laws
- not spyware
- at least it's not stealing tanks like a Ukrainian military officer
- previously the default translation service that was supplied by App Inventor

however, many swear words in other languages, when translated to english, makes no sense, because its the context behind the words and not the words themselves that are offensive (for example, the chinese swear “your mom's” sounds innocent, but indicateds somethings pretty bad)Iirc Google translate deliberately tries to not translate things into swears wherever possibleThen they could use something like Yandex translate, which is much more trustworthy because:

None of these are good reasons why the filter should use Yandex, but okayIirc Google translate deliberately tries to not translate things into swears wherever possibleThen they could use something like Yandex translate, which is much more trustworthy because:

(Latin American Spanish speaker here btw)
Swears in other languages mostly don't have a direct translation to English.
A translator would do a good job for the first one (maybe), but a HORRIBLE job for the second example. There is no perfect translator sadly, so this would be very hard to do.
Swears in other languages mostly don't have a direct translation to English.
For example, patu a Spanish swear word, directly translates to the b|word.
But, penchi maerdi, another Spanish swear word, directly translates to “I pinched pee”, but roughly means the f|word.
The swears' vowels are switched around for obvious reasons

(#3)Yes because hacking is legal in every other country
if anyone tries to hack them in their home country (Russia), then the hacker has broken the local laws
(#3)Oh really?
