Are Dropbox links allowed in comments/level descriptions?

Context: I occasionally post MIDI files for people to make custom music with. I used to post the links directly from that site but I can't do that anymore. This is the one cloud storage site I can think of that's free to use & probably wouldn't get me banned

(And yes this is a continuation of one of my last posts. Also, I can't post MIDI files in Scratch itself so that's why I'm asking)

sorry if this was a stupid question

It should be fine as long as what you're uploading and sharing here is appropriate for the site.

no, ST doesn’t have enough time to check every file

They will only check it if the comment has been reported, which shouldn't happen if what they are uploading is appropriate. If it is reported anyway, the ST should see that it's a MIDI file, and nothing else.

No. There are too many files

I thought it wasn't but I can't find anything against it. The Scratch Team was endorsing it back in 2015. I would say no, though, because it's a lot of work for them to check all of the files so I doubt it's allowed.

It may be allowed, since Dropbox doesn't have collaborative editing features like Google Docs/Slides/Sheets/etc

Keep in mind that what people define as “appropriate” can vary. There are many cases where inappropriate projects that don't follow the guidelines don't have any moderation action against them because no one reported them(due to their belief that the project is appropriate when it in fact isn't).

Whether something is reported or not cannot be a clear definition of whether it is appropriate or not, due to false reporting and lack of reporting.

To add to that, I agree that the ST probably won't check the file itself. However, as we can expect sharing a link to a file to be a rare occurrence, it is possible that they may, if having the time, check the file. We can't tell for sure whether they know what a MIDI file is or whether they can play it, but it is possible that if all these factors are true they can check the file, see it's appropriate, and move on.

However, that chance is very unlikely.

Sorry for necroposting, but i wanna say something

ST can probably actually view MIDI files. Their PCs (if it's windows, most likely) have the built-in Windows Media Player, which supports midi, and by default,if it sees a .mid or .midi file,it'll play using it. Media Player/Groove Music doesn't actually support it,so if you wanna view midi files on Windows 10 or 11,they must use the legacy app. Simple as that. Unless if it's Linux or even Mac where you must find the media player app that supports midi.
