i'd like to wait for sun's answer before we solidify too many of our plans, but if you'd like something to do, here are some things you're welcome to brainstorm -

- we have an overarching how to train your dragon theme - what specifically would we like to do with this? our campers will, of course, be learning to train their dragons - where are they in the world of httyd (berk?), what's going on in this world, and what challenges (if any) might they encounter along the way?

- matching pfps! i imagine they'll involve dragons in some regard - how would we like to do these, and who is going to be responsible for creating them? (or even better - an icon creator for them)

- cabin aesthetics, banners, thumbnails, and the like are all things i would like to design – if you have any thoughts on these, and let me know <3

- word count systems! if you have access to google sheets (strictly for inputting numbers, we wouldn't be chatting there), a shared word count studio has generally been the easiest way to do this in my experience

- aaand potentially a cabin trailer? this is another thing i would be happy to put together, and could potentially be a very collaborative project ;D

because we are in very different timezones, it would be helpful to get a general idea of when we can both be online, and do our best to make those times happen! delegating is going to be our friend over the next few months, and i'm hoping we can make a habit of working on individual bits and pieces of things on our own so that we can spend more of our time together putting it all together and just chatting and having some fun together <3

So! Theme ideas! As I was saying, I think it would be cool to make a theme more inspired by How To Train Your Dragon. So that would mean it probably wouldn’t take place in the world of Httyd. Of course, we totally could place it in Berk and that would be fun as well! I thought it might be cool to have a project called “the hatchery” or something similar where campers could choose their dragons after completing a basic milestone like reaching 500 words or completing three dailies. I also thought that maybe they could “level up” their pfp? That might be too complicated but it would be cool if it worked.

As for Google sheets, just let me know! Were you suggesting we have one cabin-wide word count studio?

I would absolutely love to have a hand in the art and aesthetics side of things as well.

i think i would like to keep to the world of how to train your dragon (there's a lot of potentially easter eggs hehehe), though where and when we'd like to set fantasy is something we could definitely play around with! it doesn't necessarily have to be in berk - though i do like the idea of a viking village (we could be vikings!!) ;D

another thing you mentioned was an academy – what if we were to call our cabin fantasy flight academy (edit - or perhaps how to train your dragon will do, for the sake of cabin thumbnails)? i think it would be fun to have a bit more adventure beyond the academy itself - throughout the session, we could introduce different activities as lessons in dragon riding and training their dragon, and what they learn could build towards their ability to face some sort of conflict near the end of the session, if that makes sense ✨

(i should also note that we should wait for a yes or no from sun before becoming too attached to any of our ideas <3)

as for the hatchery, that sounds awesome! if you'd like, we could tie that too matching pfps – since you mentioned you'd like to be a part of creating fantasy's art and design, would you be interested in drawing them this session? :0

i also really like the idea of leveling up pfps – i agree that it would be a bit complicated and require some work on our part, but i think it would be both fun and worthwhile! if we involve dragons in our matching pfps, one thing we could potentially do is have our dragons almost “grow up” throughout the session – and as the grow, we could perhaps add things like horns, spots, and toothless's alpha glow?

i am suggesting that we have one cabin-wide word count studio – sharing responsibility for everyone's word counts has generally worked out better in my experience, and it keeps everything in one place!

Now that you mention Easter eggs, the word of Httyd sounds good to me. I love the name you came up with, fantasy flight academy. Maybe the academy could be near a Viking village (perhaps berk) and one of us could be a Viking? That might actually make for a fun dynamic - one of us is a rough-and-tumble Viking and the other is super academic XD So, something to consider!

Also, I do think that if we did an academy we would still have adventures outside it, maybe even dealing with some characters from the series!

Your idea for the profile pictures is amazing! Again, I’ll add more thought to this after school, but I’d love to do something like that.

I’m not a huge fan of the thumbnail, mostly because it actually uses the logo, but we could model ours after that or make a new one. (Or we could you that one! I don’t mind.

yayy sounds good then! personally, i think all of us being vikings would be a lot of fun – roleplaying as vikings could certainly make for some delightful cabin bonding, and we could always have some dragon nerds among us if you'd like <3 one of the reasons i love how to train your dragon is because it has a lore of fun dragon lore, especially in the first movie, and i imagine it could be put to some entertaining use if one of us wanted to!

ooh yess i love the idea of somehow incorporating the original characters! perhaps instead of having a particularly formal academy, we could stick to something a bit more informal – learning through experience with the guidance of whatever role we choose to take on? we could potentially formally be village chiefesses (or a chiefess and heir if you'd like?) acting as mentors of a sort, or we could be something else ahahaha - just an idea :>

Hi! I am home from shool *misspelling completely intentional* and ready to write something a bit longer! I've put together some of the ideas we have and some new ideas of my own to come up with this, so let me know what you think of it. (I'm not sure if this will be helpful, but I'm just trying to construct our current ideas into something tangible. Any of these ideas can be scrapped, this is just a very loose suggestion)

Fantasy proposed storyline draft:
A group of students near a viking village are beginning dragon training. The village elders traditionally train the young ones, and so they will be instructing the group. The dragon training academy (I'm going to stick with the name “Fantasy Flight Academy” for now until we decide on something else) used to teach young warriors how to fight dragons, but now is used for training them. (You know the dragon training Hiccup does in the first movie? That's kind of what I was thinking- I guess they repurposed the building XD) The students will receive their eggs at the hatchery and go on missions with their “class” to learn flying, dragon diets, etc.

So, does that sound close to or far from what you were thinking? I'm just trying to use this as a tool to get us on the same page.

storyline things - for the most part, that sounds pretty good! it ties well into the idea of a cabin centered around dragon training, and i like the idea of us being elders! i think a village itself would be a more vibrant setting for a cabin - storylines are important, but cabin theme itself can also be a lot of fun to play with ✨ i like the idea of using the old dragon fighting training idea, but i would like to advocate against formally naming the place where they learn to train their dragons – what we call the cabin doesn't necessarily need to be a part of the cabin itself, and you can think of it more as a book or movie title hehe

that sounds pretty good to me! i think my ideas of dragon training are generally a bit more informal than yours, and i also think i would like to put more emphasis of the day to day life of our vikings – it makes for some cool theming if little things, like qotds! i would also advocate against formally naming the place where they learn to train their dragons – cabin names are a bit like book or movie titles in the sense that they tend to describe the story as a whole, but aren't necessarily relevant to it hehe

i meant that i personally like the look of the logo in the thumbnail, but i also see what you're saying about branching away from the fandom itself – fanfiction cabins are pretty neat for the fact that you have a lot to work with ;D

pfps - would you be up for drawing some sort of a draft pfp for yourself? i'm curious to see what you have in mind <3 one idea could be for one of us to have a night fury and the other to have a light fury - they fit well with our nicknames, though it wouldn't account for sun

speaking of which, i was thinking we could stick to being a duo, should sun decline – let me know if you have any thoughts otherwise <3

as for design, from experience, it actually makes a lot more sense to do it the other way around – cabin thumbnails are generally the first thing people see and the first thing we need to set up for our cabin, so it's generally a better idea to start with a thumbnail and branch out from there in order to create a sense of unified design and consistency, if that makes sense? <3

one more thing – is there anyone you would like to be allies, enemies, or potentially siblings with? i've already asked adventure and script to be allies, and i'd prefer not to have a sibling, but i'd be open to it if you really wanted too :>

edit - sci-fi has asked if we'd like to be siblings – thoughts? i was thinking of maybe being allies instead

I like what you said about cabin names, that makes a bit more sense. However, I still think that maybe giving it a name other than HTTYD would be a good way to keep it a separate story -kind of like sci-fi last session?

With the design: that’s interesting! I wouldn’t have guessed that but it matters sense. That way you have a reference point for your other designs.

I was wondering- does who you’re siblings/allies/enemies with matter in the storyline? What exactly affects that? The genre, the leaders?

Poor moonlit the only child It was really fun having siblings last session, but I’m fine with it if you’d rather not!

One last note I wanted to add: I realize I seem rather clueless right now, but I wanted to thank you for taking me under your wing. I’ve never done this before, as you know, but you’ve volunteered to put up with me and show me the ropes, and I’m grateful for that. This session will be an unforgettable and changing experience. Here’s the pfp sketch I promised! It’s very literally a sketch, and I used a reference for the dragon, but I wanted your input on positioning. Ignore the font, that’s just a placeholder. The colors are so that you can tell apart person and dragon.

I don’t really have any thought on allies, I just know we should have some lol, so unless you really want input on that I’ll leave it up to you. (Like I said, I don’t quite understand the significance of who we have as our allies, so if it matters to you then you should pick.)

Now that we have three in the group, did you still want to do night and light furies for the leader pfps? Or perhaps one of us could have a night/light fury and the others could have different dragons? Sun- we need your input on this.

I’m glad our three-day weekends align, now it’s just time to buckle up and survive this last school day! Wish me luck XD

Updated Fantasy storyline draft:
A group of young vikings are coming of age soon, so it’s time for them to begin dragon training. The village elders traditionally train the young ones, and so they will be instructing the group. “Dragon training” used to mean teaching young warriors how to fight dragons, but now they are taught how to train them. (They have repurposed their old dragon fighting arena for this of course.) The students will receive their dragon eggs at the village hatchery and go on missions under the supervision and guidance of the elders to learn flying, dragon diets, etc.

Edit 2: I just learned that only a chief or a son/daughter of a cheif can own a monstrous nightmare :0 (idk if that’s official or if I was reading fanfic but I like it)

allies and enemies are really just for fun (and for cabin wars – loyalty from allies is much appreciated!), and some leaders will ask their friends to be allies while others tend to strategize for cabin wars, if that makes sense to you? in any case, i'll reach out to a few leaders and see if they'd like to be allies :>

pfps - whatever you'd like is good with me! i think it also depends on how you're planning on sharing the pfps with our campers – if you'd like to make some sort of icon creator, it may be easiest for us to also use that, but if you're drawing them individually, then perhaps we could think about having different color light/night furies?


now that we have our full team (welcome sun!), here are some things we should think about and solidify -

- cabin theme! if we are all in agreement with the idea of a how to train your dragon cabin, likely titled “fantasy flight academy”, then i can write up a draft cabin introduction and finish designing a thumbnail! within that line of thought, would we like our storyline to be set in berk, another viking village, or somewhere else entirely? i personally like the idea of a viking village, and i know we also talked about being (not so old) elders of the village mentoring our campers as the learn to train their dragons – thoughts?

- projects! i believe summer has matching pfps covered (you're amazing <33), and both summer and i have expressed interest in other design aspects of our cabin – is there anything in particular that either of you would like to do? i believe both of you affirmed that you would be willing to share a promo for swc – i'd suggest making a plan for those sooner rather than later, and i'd be happy to help in any way i can <3

- word counts! i would like to keep to a single shared word count group for our whole cabin, if that sounds good to both of you? we would use a google spreadsheet to add and keep track of wordcounts :>

- scheduling things! i know both summer and i tend to be available for around an hour before our schools start, sometime in the middle to check in, and after school, usually in our evenings for a longer period of time – if we could get a sense of when each of us will generally be online, that would be great!

as for basic achievements, i suppose that depends on what we'd like to focus on? a few dailies is a good one if we're all up for an atmosphere with some lighthearted leaderboard competition, and i think we could also include something like introducing themselves, answer a qotd or two, and perhaps encouraging them to reply to each other's intros and qotds to get to know each other somehow? i personally think having a sense of community is really important to having a supportive and encouraging cabin :>

I like the idea of some lighthearted competition! Perhaps the achievement could be answer two qotds and two dailies? Or should it be more? (I finished a test early in class so I have freetime hehe)

Also, about the promos, I’d like to do it after i see the thumbnail and some basic cabin design outlining.
