Enable Editing of Projects

I know Scratch's policy is Imagine, Create, Share, but I feel like it is too easy to copy and/or steal peoples hard work.

I have no problem with the Remix feature, as it automatically shows the original creator on the project, but the See Inside feature is easily exploitable.

You can easily go into a person's project, backpack all of the sprites, put them into your own project, and post it, since you technically “used your own code”.

It would be nice if people could still see the inner workings of your project, but you could enable if people could edit your project, so people can still see how your project works, but they can't break it or steal the sprites.

You can also download the project to your computer then create a new project and upload the project.

What if a person honestly wanted to get a sprite from a person's project, and they were willing to credit them, but they couldn't get the item they needed because the creator disabled editing?

What exactly do you mean by “break?” As soon as you leave the page (if you edited a project that someone else shared), the changes are reverted.

i feel like this is just another path of restricting editing, which is rejected.
also the way the license is, as long as credit is given it can be used.
if no credit, report and give the reason.

4.1 Disable “See Inside” or restrict sharing
Some users want an option to prevent Scratchers from looking inside their project and using their artwork, scripts, or sounds. However, the core ideas of Scratch are “Imagine, Program, Share.“ By sharing a project on the Scratch website, you are allowing others to see the code and potentially remix or reuse the data inside, as long as they give credit. That being said, please use the Report button on any project that uses content from another Scratcher without giving credit to them. If you do not want other users to see inside your project, then do not share your project on the Scratch website.

Restricting sharing so that only certain users can view the project is also not going to be implemented. It is important for projects to be publicly shared for everyone to see so people can report them if they are inappropriate. Only allowing certain users to view projects could increase the chances of inappropriate projects being shared on the website. ”Unlisted projects,” similar to a YouTube feature, will also not be implemented for the same reason; for more information, see this post. It could also be used for private messaging; for more information, see #7.1 on this list.
the official list of rejected suggestions btw

edit: yeah thinking of it, this is too much like restricting see inside.

Thanks for the link! Since this is rejected, I will close the topic to highlight the answer.
