Add "British English" option in language selection
taking consideration how much the ST needs to work on however, I see this as a small unnecessary thingWouldn't this technically be done by No support unless optional, translators?
I don't think adding another language would fix that. This would be extremely nice. I find it annoying to be bugged by my spellcheck every time I write “colour” “honour” or “defence.”
Support, it's not much work and it would stop British people from being nagged by US English spelling (as they aren't used to it)
I personally use “grey” myself

Not a dropdown with english, they just show right next to each other since that is how it is with Spanish
Espanol (Espana)
Espanol (Latinoamericano)
Speaking of the 2 Spanish variants, there's 2 variants for Spanish, why not have 2 English variants.
However, the 2 English variants are mostly the same, but the 2 Spanish ones aren't.
In conclusion, I do not know whether to support or not.

I'm not here to influence your vote or anything, but I'd say go for support. A lot of people, not just the British, learn King's English (please do correct me if King's English is different from UK's English), rather than the US' English, but it also comes down to preference. Some prefer one dialect over the other, and some use it interchangeably. Though seemingly minor it does help with inclusivity and is relatively convenient in some situations. Most notably, the In conclusion, I do not know whether to support or not.Color tag. As I'm writing this, despite growing up with color, it feels more natural to type colour and it's minorly inconvenient to have to type color just to have to use a bbcode tag.
I'm relatively certain most of what I just said did not make sense and my comprehension really sucks for a native speaker.

The amount of times I've typed in “Colour” instead of “Color” and had to go back and edit the tags is insane.

Well, it's also a suggestion, and it'll get more attention here, so I think it's good for now. This suggestion goes in Translating Scratch.

This suggestion is completely useless. British English and American English are 100% mutually intelligible, so there would be absolutely no reason whatsoever to implement this suggestion. It would be a complete waste of time.

Perhaps I can give y'all a sense of how it feels to be BOTH British AND American.
So, the fact that Scratch English is only in American English is not morally right. There should be a possible way to change it. Some people perceive it useless, but it makes differences. Spelling and structure of both English is a bit different, and teachers usually don't like these differences to be affected in school. You might think right now this is unrelated, but actually lots of people who uses scratch are currently in school, and are very affected in scratch towards to school. If you are not, that is normal. It doesn't mean everyone is though.
In another perceivance, it shows discrimination towards the British and America, but that is actually just an exaggeration. Some of the British don't care, but the spelling can confuse them a little bit, especially Canadian spelling. Canadian spelling can be identified in the mixture of American English and British English. For example: some Canadians use the “z” instead of “s”, but adds the “u.”
To be honest, this topic is more of a debate instead of a suggestion, because lots of British wants this change, and some don't mind. Some people perceive this as discrimination, and some people perceive this as hardly any change.
My side is neutral honestly. American English only in scratch could possibly confuse some students who aren't American, but it really shouldn't confuse. This can be seen as discrimination again, but there is no dispute towards America and Britain. The year is 2023, not 1812. Again, I'm neutral.
If some of my points you find are exaggerative, that's not my opinion; it's the fellow people of Earth.

Exaggeration like that really isn't a nice attitude to hold towards British English people. They aren't the same, and many words are spelt differently. It can be very annoying to be spell-checked every time I write “colour” “honour” and “humour” and this that big of a “waste of time” as you say, because it can be very inconvenient for some people. This suggestion is completely useless. British English and American English are 100% mutually intelligible, so there would be absolutely no reason whatsoever to implement this suggestion. I mentioned how spell-check is not impacted by site language settings earlier here. This suggestion is completely useless.
Both British English and American English (importantly noting British English because it's not) are not useless. Both versions of the language are both important and are needed, otherwise, how would this website be used by Americans and British English people?

That's true, but however, both are completely different in symbols, the way are spoken, etc.
This is the most biased post I have ever encountered and seen to British people among Americans.

No support. British English can easily be understood by Americans, and vice versa. For example, I occasionally slip up and say “color” instead of “colour” and yet people still understand what I meant when I say “color”. Whereas if I somehow managed to type “色” instead of “colour”, then people who don't understand Japanese would be confused at what I meant.
