Option to hide/show block definitions in editor

Hi!

I'm working with 6 years old students. In most activities I create my own blocks to make some things easier to them. I would appreciate an option to hide block definitions at the editor, since children feel confused when they see a lot of things on the screen that have not sense for them, and it's difficult for those children to focus on what it is really important in each activity.

In Snap block definitions are not shown in the editor, and this abstract ferature of blocks is more suitable at some early stages of introductory programming.

Could this feature be added to Scratch?

Bye!

This is a nice idea. I support it.

Sounds good! I'd say have a checkbox next to the custom block in the “More Blocks” palette to hide/show the definition block.

Like on a project by project thing where it only appears if the box is checked on the project? Or a user by user thing?

I support the former (the first), but there should be still an option on the project.

I want to do the same thing as Sawady. I create blocks to hide complexity from young students. The block definitions are confusing to the kids.

Cool! What are some of the blocks called? Also, support. Snap! has it but is more complicated than Scratch (because of lambda, ASCII etc.)

support! I spend more time just organizing the code than actually coding, and it really irks me when I have to add more room for another script. I really wish the block definitions were shown in a separate window like in snap!

This is a really good idea. It makes code more organized and easier to understand. Some of my projects have a lot of custom blocks, and it would benefit from this feature.

Necropost, but this helps with uncluttering projects. For example a hash function or base64 encoder can be hidden to declutter projects.
