How Do You Remix Your Own Project?
I have seen people do it before. Unless my eyes are wrong, but that's not the case cause my eyes are perfectly fine. TELL ME!!! I'm trying to update my SPhone to 2.0 and it's killing me to not just put everything in the backpack and make a entire new project…

Go to “File” in the menu bar, and click on “Save as a copy”. That will create a copy of the project in your “My Stuff” page.

How Do You Remix Your Own Project?
Aha! An ST member has responded on the subject of self-inflicted remixes!!
This question has gotten a lot of play in the past year and is duplicated in quite a few forum topics (search the forums for "remix your own project“ to see some/most of them). To make matters worse, none of those topics gives a real solution to how to create a true remix (other than having a second ”remix“ user account, but that comes with its own difficulties). By ”True" remix, I mean one that is included in the remix tree. Save As is only a substitute–not even a workaround since it doesn't produce the desired result–and therefore not quite an answer to the actual question. See the thread at this topic for the most in-depth discussion I found.
CheddarGirl: Can you or another ST member tell us how a project author can create a true remix of their project that shows up in the remix tree under their normal user name? Is there a way for you to broadcast the question to the whole ST team?
(NOTE: This is not a necropost according to the definition of “necropost” about halfway down this ScratchWiki page.)

On Scratch you can remix projects, you can add any ideas to make it better or you can just modify it if you want to change it. In a remix you have to change at least 5 things in the original game. the remix is not to be used in advanced. For more information ask @Cole-_- or @scratchteam

This information is not correct - it's not the number of changes you make that makes it a valid remix - it's just important that you use your own ideas. Remix away

Here's a technique that I believe does what you are asking. Sign out of Scratch. Now, navigate to your own project that you want to remix and click on the See Inside button. Then, click on Remix and sign in as yourself. This will create a remix of your own project.
Since this method is so non-intuitive, I can only assume that it is not a feature that was actually designed in. It does seem to me that there might be a place for the self-remix as many people do build on their own creations - and it might be nice to reflect this in remix record. Possibly it is not included as a formal feature for fear of people using the technique to game the What the Community is Remixing row on the front page.

Thanks, Paddle2See. That method was proposed on the other topic about self-remixing and I was very encouraged when I saw it. When I tested it, though, it appeared to go to the original project as if I had simply clicked {see Inside} while logged in. I will test again and look deeper.
Gaming the system statistics is definitely a possibility. Would be easy to spot the fanatical self-remixers, though (see the second post on the topic HERE).

Okay. I got the same result this second time.
I logged out, navigated to the project page, clicked {See Inside}, clicked {Remix}, got a login box, logged in, added “2.0” to my project's name, did a “Save Now”, and went to the project's page.
The remix Tree shows one project and it's named with the 2.0. it appears that all I have achieved is an edit to the original project.
THIRD TRY: Same as above but did a “Save As” instead of “Save Now”. This only created a copy of the original project (as expected). Nothing but the new copy in the Remix Tree.
Am I doing this correctly? This non-intuitive work-around would be fine if it worked. It's a bit complex, but I only plan to remix on major revisions so it would act as a deterrent to doing it frequently. I think it would be interesting and useful to have ready access to past project versions that were stable and packaged up nicely. I would even be very willing to go through the few extra steps of a Captcha-type process now and then to be able to publish major revs and alternate versions of essentially the same project.

Okay. I got the same result this second time.OK, when I follow the same procedure, it's immediately at the point I've back signed in that I see the orange “remixing…” banner appear at the top of the editor. Then the new project loads (i.e. a copy is made - a remix - of the original).
I logged out, navigated to the project page, clicked {See Inside}, clicked {Remix}, got a login box, logged in…
I don't have to “Save Now”, “Save as” or change the name in any way…

Which browser/OS are you using? (I'm using Firefox v26 on OSX.)
My guess would be that your browser (or Flash?) isn't continuing the remix ‘command’ once you've signed in again, so you stay right at the original project. (What I see happen, after the orange “remixing…” banner appears for a second or so, is that the current project page vanishes, to be replaced by a new project loading screen - so I see the remix load up as a completely new project.)
I presume remixing another user's project works fine for you, right…?

I get no loading screen. Thanks for checking.
Chrome and IE on Win7 both return to the original project. Firefox with Adobe Flash 11.9 did the same. (I even updated Flash before trying.)
Any Windows users able to do this remix method?
Even so, seems that relying on what appears to be an artifact of a particular combination of software is dicey for a feature that's in such high demand.

How Do You Remix Your Own Project?
I know how to ACTUALLY remix you project. It is very similar to what Paddle2See said, and basically uses the same method that you use when following yourself. Do these steps EXACTLY as it says or else it won't work.
1. Sign into a different (like a test account) account, then go to the project you want to remix and see inside.
2. Open a new tab, and sign into your regular account.
3. Go back to the original tab and click remix.
The project will remix, but then update and realize that you just signed into the other account (your real account) and create a remix under that account. So then you have created a remix of a project you created on that very account!

You can do it. I made a project on it. For proof, look at this remixtree. http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/24308507/remixtree/ Close to what paddle2see is saying.
