Clickteam Fusion 2.5 vs GameMaker: Studio

Just recently got Clickteam Fusion 2.5 on Steam since it was %66 off. From $100 to about $33 is a great deal! (As of right now, it is 50% off) Anybody else have Fusion 2.5?

If you don't know about Clickteam Fusion 2.5, it's basically like a more advanced Game Maker.(Now that I have GameMaker Professional Edition, I know that's false.)
Fusion 2.5 is the engine Scott Cawthon (Creator of Five Night's At Freddy's) who did indeed spend around $700 for the developer edition, android and IOS exporters, and probably a few more stuff. The community of Clickteam is decent, the developers do contact users also. Some games on steam were also created in Clickteam Fusion 2.5 like The Escapists, Five Night's At Freddy's, which have both indeed made front page of the steam store, and there are more listed in the description. So far I've spent around 75 or so hours on it (according to Steam), so I've learned a how to do the basics of a lot. I recreated PONG, and it was pretty fun doing. You can't build for Mac or Linux, but I believe they are planning on doing it for Fusion 3.0… But you can get the Flash exporter, and flash can be used on browsers. It definitely takes a while to get used to, it isn't that appealing to the eye at first, but after a while you might start to adapt to it, and love it more. It's definitely a good head start before programming. (I take this back too)

~
UPDATE 1:
I'm now trying out game maker, one difference is game maker has less limitations, less complicated, and it's own scripting language language too. I'll post a comparison after I buy it.
Take a look at this - Minecraft Classic remade in Game Maker. I'm pretty sure that would take a long time to remake in Fusion since it's all just Drag and Drop.
Once I finish playing around with game maker and after I buy it, I'll remove this thread and compare both.

UPDATE 2:
GameMaker: Studio definitely wins. I've bought GameMaker: Studio Professional Edition on the website, and not only do I get the license key for the software, I get the steam key too, after waiting a painful 2 weeks. I've barely touched Javascript but I believe the syntax is the same as GML. It's not too different from C# for me, so that's great also. GameMaker made things easier for me, the only hassles are the editors (Script editors, Room Editors, Image Editors). It's said that the developers have to rewrite the whole software again to fix the editors. Not sure when they will do it. The only up side about Fusion is you can do more application stuff but that's also a downside since it's mostly just Windows controls and stuff which looks unappealing. Still have lots to learn anyways.

Remembered seeing FNAF on the ClickStore before it became popular on YouTube. Never expected it to get this far.

I have been making this game for exactly one year ever since I've managed to buy the software. Other thread :P It is a side-scrolling shooter similar to both the Metal Slug and Halo series.

Here are some screenshots of the current build

Alpha Main Menu. I have added some things in the settings menu to enhance gameplay for different people. Singleplayer button currently has Load Game and New Game options.

The current test room for the game. A variety of weapons and abilities are scattered around the room, as well as several NPCs. (They do nothing at the moment.)

The player activating one of the abilities on a single-tile platform. Yes, I am making this game HARD.

Download

I'm surprised somebody here knows this program!

Nice
I just bought GameMaker so far it's better than Fusion IMO. Fusion is much more complicated due it only being visual drag and drop programming when GameMaker provides both drag and drop & scripting. Also Fusion is more limited.

Anyways good luck on your game.

A message to everyone - I'm currently looking for a pixel artist!

I just got yesterday! I did the tutorial and it turned out good. Now I am currently making a game called World of creation similar to minecraft or roblox, I just started it making it though so there's not much things to do know. You can only walk , jump , land on platforms , and respawn so far.

I know somebody else that bought Fusion 2.5 just like me. Once he got GameMaker he bought it and never touched Fusion 2.5. Just like me.
I'm already planning to go on steam greenlight soon with my new game made in GameMaker, already bought the $100 Steam Greenlight fee. Fusion is nothing compared to GameMaker.. It's now just sitting in my steam library… collecting dust… sigh..

I don't suggest anybody gets Fusion 2.5 anymore.. I highly suggest you try both the free versions of Fusion 2.5 and GameMaker first, then compare them.

Also remember, Fusion 2.5 makes you make $400 for the developer edition, just for licensing and to make MDI applications basically.
GameMaker Pro is only $100, they only make you pay more for modules to export onto phones and such, just like Fusion 2.5 makes you pay for exporters.

GameMaker is cheaper and less limitations. I do encourage you to try GameMaker, as you can get started in the coding/programming world. I've learned the basics of C# before using GameMaker, I've used Monogame/XNA and GameMaker took me about 2 weeks to get used to, now I'm working on my first game to go on Steam Greenlight.

I think I've tried Stencyl. It's like a more advance Scratch. Don't really see any popular games made with Stencyl out there. Stencyl is for 2D games, pretty sure there is no 3D support.
Stencyl does not officially support 3D games, although pseudo-3D and isometric games have been built.
No Multiplayer support either, seems like a very limited software, and it would take a lot of complications to achieve 3D or multiplayer, not saying it's impossible, just very complicated and very time consuming if you're looking for either of these. Then again if you are looking for 3D support, at least Fusion 2.5 has a little 3D support, definitely not recommended, you're just better off going with Unity3D or something like that. GameMaker does have 3D support, and networking. Knowing C# networking will definitely allow you to make servers for your game which has been done in GameMaker. Also this is a child's toy compared to either Fusion 2.5 or GM:S.

Then again, we're talking about Stencyl here, not really serious if you're looking to develop games for the market. Not saying it's impossible, if i knew more about Stencyl I could probably support my argument more.

How can you make the perfect project on scratch but use a little bit of blocks or a lot of blocks. I really like using the costumes and the space bar. It is really fun to make project s but I made some boring ones though. I am not

I don't like C++, I prefer C# instead, and yes I know you can use C++ to make extensions, but it's extra work for me which I'm not interested in.

I have used both, and honestly I think that GM:S is better for the advanced user. I used Clickteam Fusion 2.5 when I was beginning, and made some basic platforming games. I also one more engine to add just for fun, Construct 2.

You can use the GM8 Skin in Studio just change it in the preferences. I hate when Yoyo changed Marks skin, looks terrible, black and green or black and orange html. They said it didn't look professional enough lol

Clickteam Fusion 2.5 vs GameMaker: Studio

Guys I think Game Maker is better because it is used widely. Sometimes when I use Clickteam, I get confused very quickly. If we want to make real games by coding and putting on effort on it we use Game Maker. Clickteam is for those who are new to programming. However, expert coders choose GameMaker because in Game Maker, you can also make 3d Games with awesome FPS and many more things. I also prefer scratch to those who are new and want to learn basic programming.I am not so good in scratch but I prefer GameMaker as a better option.

And that is why Game Maker is more popular and powerful than Clickteam Fusion 2.5.
