SWC Megathread || March 2023

Daily 3/4
“It's been a few days since SWC started - hope you got the chance to get to know your cabin and give Starr lots of cookies ;D Imagine a character (either one of your own creation, or from a story you like) in your cabin. Would they get along with your cabinmates, or would a messy mango fight ensue? How might their personality react in that environment? Write at least 250 words for 100 points, and share your writing for an extra 50 points.”

If Annabeth Chase were to join the Dystopian Dynasty cabin, I’m pretty sure our storyline would go really fast… Being the daughter of Athena, Annabeth’s intelligence and wisdom are beyond her years, giving her a definite advantage in selecting the next choice in the storyline. She’d be able to figure out what was in the campers’ best interests to complete the end goal, therefore proceeding to move the things along quite quickly.

As for the overall relationships and cabin atmosphere, Annabeth would probably be the mature one of the group- taking charge, providing extensive motivation, and always encouraging more writing from everyone. She personally would complete all the dailies and weeklies to the highest standards, and take it upon herself to make sure everyone else does the same. She wouldn’t always be active because of school, however when she was, lots of words would be added. Annabeth most likely would not partake in much of the chaos, though she would fight valiantly to return Reese’s soul, freedom, and veins, as well as protecting Moonlit from kidnapping.

During cabin wars, she’d probably write the most words, and send the most wars (perhaps surpassing Moonlit :eyes, especially to our dear enemies Horror and Poetry. Mostly Horror, as she’s very defensive and does not tolerate kidnapping… (/lh- horror yall are awesome despite the soul stealing <33) Annabeth would most likely keep tabs on all the cabins and their wars, knowing exactly when to attack- ahem, war- them. Perhaps school deterred her from extensive activity, but during those certain Saturdays she would be online as much as possible.

March 4 daily:
300 words
Disclaimer: This is a really weird story that makes zero sense at all.
I open my eyes, surprised to find that I'm surrounded by grass. Pushing myself up off the ground and wiping off the dirt, I realize what I'm wearing. Instead of my normal skirt and sari, I'm wearing black pants that cling to my legs and a soft yellow short sleeve shirt. I look around. All I see is grass and a few plants for miles. Not knowing where I am or what happened, I take a few cautious steps forward. After walking for a while, I come across a pale man wearing similar clothes as I am. He's pushing a strange machine that looks like a cart with a shovel in it. “What are you doing?” he demands, “Get off my fields!”. I frowned. I had never heard this language before, but somehow I reply in the same tongue. “I'm sorry, sir, but may I ask where we are?” He gives me a strange look, but then replies with the same angry tone. “You're on my farm!” I'm surprised. “Really?” “Yes! I already said that! Now, who are you and what are you doing? I will only ask one more time.” I understand why he's angry, but give this strange man a look anyway. “I am the goddess Sita, and I am thousands of years older than you! Treat your elders with respect.” He looks at me weirdly. I feel anger start to rush through me. “Who? Never mind. Just leave.” I raise my eyebrow. “Do you know who you're dealing with right now?” He scoffs. “A delusional little girl?” I'm fully prepared to get rid of this nuisance. But before I can respond, my eyes seem to open for a second time and I'm looking at my husband's worried face. I realize I'm wearing normal clothes again. “What happened?”

choosing Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom
————————————————–
Today, our daily focuses on an ex-cabin's genre from a few sessions ago—Mythology! Choose a creature, god, or other character from ancient mythology and write about them interacting with the modern world for at least 300 words—hopefully it won't make your hands too thor ;) This daily will earn your cabin 300 points, plus an additional 100 for sharing.

My ears pick up on something in the distance. A father yelling at his child due to some grades. The child is weeping over the yelling and grades. My heart instantly fills with concern and sadness for the child who I do not know, and I want to hug her, but it must be done in secret. Or at least after the dad leaves. No one deserves to be yelled at just because they aren't smart enough. I creep towards the window, peering into the girl's bedroom. She's sitting on her bed, and her dad is standing in front of her. He continues to yell and blabber on for many minutes about the child's failing grade in a math class. I shake my head in disappointment. Distance Learning had been hard on everyone- so of course the child's grades were falling! And algebra online- oh gosh, I can't even imagine that. That sounds like a form of torture used in Tartarus. Finally, after what seems like hours but in reality is just a few minutes, the father shakes his head in disapproval and leaves. He glances out the window and I duck, careful not to be seen. He doesn't and walks out. I poke my head back up and knock on the window, grabbing the girl's attention.
“Hey,” I whisper as she opens the window. “Can I come in?” Wiping back multiple tears, the girl nods and lets me enter. I plop down on the bed, sighing as the bed takes over from my legs. “What's your name?”
“Mia,” the girl cries softly.
“Hey, hey, Mia. It's okay. I'm Athena,” I comfort. Her eyes widened in excitement and shock, but mainly fear.
“Oh no! Are you going t-to disown me?! For failing algebra?” she asked.
My eyes widened and I shushed her. “No, no!” I say. “I know it's hard, but you can get through it. I will never disown someone who cares as much about learning as you do.” I hug her.
Mia smiles and wraps her arms around me tightly.
“Thank you,” she whispers. “Thank you.”

Daily #5

I did Hades and Persephone! This is also inspired by / based on Lore Olympus, an epic webtoon based on Mythology <3

Hades fiddled with his suit. Persephone was drifting along next to him, with that airy walk she had, her dress floating out beneath her. She looked completely lost in her own thoughts. Like usual.
It was beautiful. She was beautiful. And it’s not that Hades didn’t like it, exactly- he just wished someone would compliment him and how good he looked in blue. And how the hell could he make Minthe jealous if his date was doing… whatever she was doing? Looking off into the distance, or something? Just generally being Persephone, he guessed.
She took his arm - a jolt of pure electricity shot through him at her touch, taking his breath away (he immediately cursed himself for being so pathetic) - and lead him excitedly over to the drinks table. She had spotted Artemis. Meaning she would talk to her. Meaning he would have to talk to her as well, meaning he would somehow have to explain what a goddess of spring was doing was the king of the underworld.
He winced, suddenly unsure of himself, remembering the last time they were both at a party. That didn’t go well. Except that was where they first met, he supposed, so it can’t have all been bad.
He wondered if she still had that jacket he leant her on that first night.
Why am I so… sentimental now? He gritted his teeth. You’re the god of the underworld Hades, start acting like it for god’s sake!
At least his brothers weren’t here to mess everything up this time. He was determined to have a good night - and to leave with his reputation intact, his date intact, and his heart intact as well. And then he could go home to his dogs. He was looking forward to that.
Unless he went home with Persephone instead.
His heart started beating, a drum inside his chest. He and Persephone weren’t dating. She probably didn’t even want him. They were friends, they were going to this as friends (Were they? He didn’t even know at this point) and if she didn’t want to be anything more than that he wouldn’t push her. There had only been that one comment mentioned in passing - but she wouldn’t seriously want to be his queen, would she? Why would a goddess of spring want to rule the underworld? Why would someone like her want to be with someone like him?

Waterfall's First Weekly :OOO

MAJOR WIP NOT DONEEE

quick thought about time traveling just to boggle your brain because it left mine confuzzled - hmmm: technically if you go back in time to change something, you won't end up in the spot that you were in to want to go back in time and change it, meaning that you never would've changed it in the first place. :o But if it's the same as it was in the first place, then you'd go back in time to change it, and so on forever. now there's a paradox for you to think about.

Also there's a really cool tv series called “What If” that shows what would've happened if _____ happened in the marvel universe, like black widow became captain america instead of steve rodgers, etc but it actually is really cool and has this cool comic style, but I'm way too off topic soooo…

aaaanyways here's my timelines weekly -

Part One: Butterfly Effect:

note: this section is based off of a story I've written
I'm making nora get killed by the soulless :> yay fun getting to kill off main characters who were supposed to be the protagonist hehehehe

Scenario One: Cole rushes to Nova, but then gets killed mwahahaha so the aunt has to try and save everybody but i'm not writing that part

“Cole, RUN! I'll be right behind you.” Nova distracted the being by running towards a house. It seemed to be after her, not Cole. She reached for a nearby baseball bat, but didn't make it. The being, whatever it was, dragged her back. Nova desperately tried to grab onto a tree, but the branch snapped. Poking at the being, she tried to pry it off of her, but to no avail. The last thing Nova ever saw was the creature's eyes - soulless eyes, piercing into her, taking her spirit from her, even though her body was still on the ground. Her mind was still there, but her spirit gone. But then, it all faded into a cloudy blue haze. Nova was dead. The monster dissipated, having done it's job, returning to wherever it came from. Cole rushed over in horror, trying to shake Nova awake.
“Nova? NOVA!” His eyes started to well up, his best friend for years, gone. Just like that. But what was that thing? Cole suddenly heard a faint hiss behind him. He whipped around, grabbing the branch out of Nova's hands. He jabbed the soulless monster, and ran. But he too, was taken, because he had seen too much. Both Cole and Nova, the secrets that they knew of the soulless, killed.

Back in the mysterious world, Aunt Grace started to worry about Nova. (because she cares more than all the other relatives loll)
“Uncle Caster, aren't you a little worried about Nova? She should be back now to report if anything happened today.” Aunt Grace paced back and forth.
“Oh, I'm sure she'll be fine, she's a strong girl, whatever.”
“Caster, she's your daughter!” Aunt Grace stopped pacing to stare in awe at Uncle Caster. Uncle Caster just lit his pipe and took a puff.
"Adopted daughter. And before you say anything about me smoking, it's not bad for the tree. You just made that up because you don't like it.“ Uncle Caster walked out, leaving Aunt Grace staring at him.
”What?! And no, I did NOT make that up, besides, it smells terrible.“ Aunt grace sighed, and fanned the air in an attempt to get the smell out. ”Fine. If he won't show any concern, I'll go there and check on her myself. It's been a while since I've seen Earth anyways, it's good to be caught up. Besides, not like anyone here will miss me.“ Aunt Grace used her pearl, and was left back on Earth. She walked around, frantically searching for Nova, until she finally found her and Cole, dead on the ground. She gasped in shock, and noticed the unmistakable blue marks on them, bleeding. ”Oh no. This is worse than I ever could've imagined. And nobody back at home will help - I've got to do this myself now."

Aaand Aunt Grace has to save the world instead of Nova /or/ Cole, but I'm not going to write the entire story soooo-

Scenario Two: He rushes to Nova and finds the pearls in her pocket, Accidentally activating them. He now has to do what Nova's job was, but alone.

He whipped around to make sure it wasn't waiting for him. It wasn't. But what am I supposed to do with my dead best friend's body? he thought. He couldn't tell anyone, because absolutely nobody would believe him. In fact, they would all probably call him crazy and assume that he murdered Nova. He picked Nova up and checked for one last sign of a pulse. Nothing. But as he put Nova back down, three shiny pearls fell out of her pocket. What were those? Cole looked around and decided to keep them. They were the last memory he had of Nova now. He threw one up in the air to catch it, but it didn't come back down. It hovered in mid air, and Cole looked up in surprise. Then bright light started to come out as the pearl cracked open. Cole covered his eyes, and was frozen in shock, although he realized he probably should be running. Suddenly, the light disappeared, and he heard the serene chirping of birds through the silence. He looked up to see a massive tree. He took a deep breath and walked up to it, knowing it was his only option. He knocked on the door, yes he knows it's a door now because I have no other way, and after a minute, a lady came out and answered it. Upon seeing him, her face fell.
“Who are you? And why are you here?” She says, clearly on her guard.
“Uh, I'm Cole. So my friend was just killed by a magical creature, and then these pearl things fell out of her pocket. So I picked one up and tossed it, but then it got really bright and I ended up here.” Cole gasped for breath. The woman's face turned even paler.
“Yes yes, you must come in. I'm Grace, by the way. And the girl you're talking about - she wouldn't happen to be named Nova, would she?” Cole's head snapped up.
“Yeah, Nova! How do you know her?” Grace sighed.
“I'm her Aunt. And I need to tell you why Nova was on Earth, and what that creature was doing.” Aunt Grace fills Cole in on everything, and Cole confirms her story. I'm not writing that part out because yeah.
“You must now take on the task that Nova so bravely died for. Good luck.”

Scenario Three: He tells his parents, but they don't believe him. Aunt Grace still got worried and went looking for her, and they meet each other and realize the situation. Then Cole and Aunt Grace have to save the worlds.

He whipped around to make sure it wasn't waiting for him. It wasn't. But what am I supposed to do with my dead best friend's body? he thought. He couldn't tell anyone, because absolutely nobody would believe him. In fact, they would all probably call him crazy and assume that he murdered Nova. He picked Nova up and checked for one last sign of a pulse. Nothing. Cole decided that he had to tell his parents what had happened. Surely they would believe him, they're his parents! Cole was still uncertain of what to do with the body, however. He left it there and ran home.
“Cole, you know what we've said about slamming the door!” His mother said.
“Yeah, that's not important right now, okay?” Cole panted, catching his breath.
“Yes, we have to talk about your math grade, Cole.” She said sternly.
“No, it's even more important than that! Nova's been murdered, and I saw it!” Cole's mother was stunned.
“What do you- Is she- We have to call nine one one!” Cole's mother frantically raced towards the phone, but Cole got there first and blocked her hand.
“NO! You can't do that.”
“Well why, honey? We have to report murders!”
“… Just listen to me, okay?” Cole told his mother how Nova had died. And he told her all about the mysterious monser.
“Honey, you must be dealing with a lot. There are no magical creatures! I'm calling nine one one.” Cole quickly had to think of a lie.
“No, I was uh, just testing to see how you would react. Clearly you wouldn't trust me, but I wouldn't trust that crazy story either. Nova's fine, she's alive, and you have nothing to worry about - that's why I told you not to call nine one one. Uh, anyways, I'm going out for a walk!” Cole ran out the door, leaving Cole's mother speechless.
“Wait, what? Cole, you and I need to have a serious talk about it, this is not something to joke around about!”
“Uh huh!” Cole ran back to where Nova had died. “Oh, what am I supposed to do now?” Suddenly, a woman showed up behind him.
“Excuse me, who are you?” Cole jumped up in surprise, and tried to cover the body behind him.
“Uh, I'm Cole.” The woman stepped around him towards the body. “Wait, uh-” but she had already seen it. “I can explain!”
“Oh, no need to explain, I already know everything.”
“Wait, don't call nine one one! Trust me, you don't know what happened here, I saw it!”
“Believe me, I know exactly what happened. A soulless monster killed her, right? I'm Grace by the way, I'm Nova's aunt. Now I'm afraid we don't have much time, and a very big explanation to give. And you and I are going to have to take over Nova's mission.”

March 5, 2023

“Remind me again how this is supposed to work?” Lynne asked. “I still can’t believe you dragged me into this.”

“Just relax,” I said, trying to sound as convincing as possible. If I was going to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. “What’s the harm in trying?”

“Uh, have you not heard about all those myths of people using the Kumi Stone?” Lynne grabbed my arm so that I was facing her. “There’s a reason why we know so little about it. Everyone gets corrupted by the powerful magic.” I could see the urgency in her eyes, and I so wanted to believe them.

But everyone was turning against me and I had little options left. I wasn’t even sure who I could trust and who I couldn’t. It would be really good if I had some sort of leverage.

“Come’on Lynne, you know those are probably just old tales. The real reason why those dangerous stories exist is so that people won’t seek out the Kumi Stone. Besides, we’re already here.”

“Next time you try to drag me into one of your crazy antics, mind actually telling me what it is more than 5 minutes before we’re there?” Lynne asked, annoyance in her voice.

“It’s not like you would’ve come if I did,” I shrugged. Despite how nonchalant I was acting, I was actually shaking. But I didn’t want to concern Lynne anymore than she already was. That girl had enough stress to last 3 lifetimes.

I took a long deep breath, trying to rid myself of any nerves. Before I could think to regret my decision, I stepped into the temple and hurried through the row of columns before me.

It was actually really easy to access the Kumi Stone. There weren’t any actual guards to monitor the temple, only a protective shield that was powered on 24/7. Despite the lack of security, the Kumi Stone was actually incredibly well protected. The temple was hidden through an ancient enchantment lost to humantime, and the only way to breach the magic protecting the temple was if you had the key.

Which was where Lynne came in. Being friends with a descendant of a legendary mage has its perks.

The temple looked like your average religious temple. It looked very Roman, with mostly white stone and ornately decorated steps. It was rather small, with a triangular roof. Some of the ancient stone was eroding.

Lynne quickly followed me into the temple, and we reached the Kumi Stone once we entered the first room. I gasped when I saw it. It was a lot smaller than the pictures online showed. It was a deep aquamarine and shaped like a rhombus. The stone looked so smooth, I couldn’t imagine it having a single divot.

I took one step and then Juno promptly stopped me.

I expected this to happen. Juno was my nemesis, for lack of a better term. I never particularly liked her to begin with, but after she used Lynne for her own selfish desires and then tried to kill her, my feelings turned into hatred. Beside me, I saw Lynne stiffen and turn a little pale. Juno frowned at the two of us.

“You really think you can get away with this?” she scoffed. “You puny mortals stand no match against me. You may have evaded me once, but at that time you were under the mercy of Vulcan. This time, you won’t be so lucky.”

Juno opened her hand and a scepter appeared in it. I could feel a lump forming in my throat. The scepter was long and gold, with a bulb shape at the top. I barely began to register the fear shooting through my legs before I felt a loud whack and blacked out.

SWC Megathread || March 2023

Weekly 1
~~~~~
Short Story 1
One day Skita was sitting in class like she usually was, taking notes diligently. Everything was normal that day. Boring, but albeit normal. Her brother, Hualin, was dozing off. Again, not surprising. Somehow, her brother managed to mess everything up again.
Skita wasn’t exactly sure how Hualin managed to confuse two completely different chemicals, but he did. Skita knew that he could do well if he actually tried. His geography skills were proof of such. That was what annoyed her the most. The fact that Hualin never tried. She wasn’t exactly sure why though.
Then all of that sympathy melted away when he proceeded to blow up the work station Skita and him were working at, and blame it on her.
And that’s how her grade dropped down to a C.
Short Story 2
Skita’s spirits dropped almost immediately.
It was weird how much one grade could shake you. She knew she could still bring her grade up. Still, that didn’t stop the gnawing feeling of disappointment in her stomach. She felt like something dark was clawing away at her insides.
Skita had tried to talk to the teacher about it, but he was as stubborn as ever and she knew she was never going to get anywhere talking to him. She tried to get Hualin to confess, but he begged her not to because he was already on the brink of failing. Skita attempted to rat him out anyway, but again, the teacher didn’t listen.
That’s what started the train of dark thoughts in her head. That’s how she ended up dissatisfied with herself and her life. That’s how she felt that she could never be enough no matter how hard she tried.
That’s how she ended up running away from home.
Short Story 3
Skita went forward with newfound determination. She knew that if she didn’t bring her grade up fast, there would be no saving her near perfect GPA. Chemistry was a difficult class, with lots of high point grades and harsh grading.
Skita began to study as hard as she could, even more than she had before. She would spend her evenings engrossed in chemistry books, and do practice problems on the weekends.
Weirdly enough, she found herself loving it.
The connections between the elements of the periodic table, the wonders of molecular bonding, cool chemical reactions, it all began to fascinate Skita.
She decided to pursue chemistry as a job and became one of the most well respected living chemists.
Short Story 4
Hualin felt so bad for what he did to Skita. She had worked so hard her whole life, and now he was messing her up. But the two of them both knew that Hualin couldn’t afford a bad grade in chemistry. As much as the two disliked one another, Skita wasn’t about to let Hualin fail.
Still, Hualin was overcome with guilt, and dropped out of school as a result. He thought that he would only hold Skita and his family back, and decided to move away.
~~~~~

Plot point one:
Hualin accidentally mistook one chemical for another. Upon mixing them up, there was a small explosion and fire. His sister, Skita, who was working next to him at the same table, got her project destroyed. The entire table and area around it was burnt or smelled bad. Luckily, the two were wearing the appropriate safety equipment and no one was hurt. However, both of them were banned from using potentially dangerous chemicals for the rest of the year, much to Skita’s dismay. When the teacher asks them what happened, Hualin begins to explain that there was an accident. The teacher scolds the two and says they will both get an F on the assignment due to negligence. Hualin is appalled and says that he did nothing wrong. The teacher believes him and mainly punishes Skita.

Plot point two:
Skita is very upset by the recent turn of events. She immediately yells at Hualin and berates him for throwing her under the bus. Hualin argues that this was never his intention. Skita is still incredibly frustrated with him and goes home to complain. Their parents are definitely not happy with Hualin, and ground him for a month. However they don’t want Hualin to fail the class, so they tell Skita to get the teacher to bring up her grade, but not at Hualin’s detriment. Skita, while spoiled and bratty, knows that she will be able to bring up her grade if she continues to do well in class, so she reluctantly agrees. The next day, she goes to the teacher and explains that it was a mere small human error that caused the explosion. The teacher tells Skita that he will move her grade up to a C, which Skita is still not happy about.

Plot point three:
Hualin feels incredibly guilty from the situation, and spends the next week trying to make it up to Skita by doing her chores, buying her things, writing a heartfelt apology, etc. There is a clear rift between the siblings and Hualin knows that it is his fault. He knows that if he wasn’t already failing, he would not have to burden Skita, and hates himself for not getting good grades. Skita is also moping, being mad at Hualin, her parents, and the teacher. Skita gets her grade up fairly quickly, though it takes some work. She goes to the park and cries.

Plot point four:
Hualin knows that everything is his fault, but he has no idea how to make it up to Skita. He considers trying to turn himself in, but he knows that that will just upset Skita and his parents, and by extension Skita herself. Hualin wishes he could talk to her and ask her what he can do, but he suspects that Skita will never forgive him. Despite the competition between the two, Hualin cares about his sister and follows her to the park. When he sees her crying, he tries to console her and opens up to her about his feelings of self-hatred and disappointment towards himself. Skita opens up to him in turn and she says that she still cares about him.

Plot point five:
Hualin promises Skita that he will try his best to make it up to her. Skita assures him that it’s just one grade and that she can easily still get an A. Still, Hualin decides to surprise her by taking her on an exciting trip to the town square. The siblings never really went to the town square before, as all the things there were sort of expensive and Skita and Hualin’s family was in the lower middle class. However Hualin treats Skita to a wonderful day in the town square and the two assure each other that no matter what, they will still be siblings.

Summary: Hualin has a lab accident, causing Skita to get a bad grade. This upsets Skita, who is trapped between satisfying their parents and getting revenge on Hualin. Hualin feels very guilty, and tries to make it up to Skita by traveling back in time. Skita manages to sneak with him, and the two open up to each other while fixing everything.

- Hualin has a lab accident due to his negligence. A small fire is started and a portion of the classroom is destroyed. Hualin and his desk mate, Skita, get a bad grade. Hualin pleads that he did nothing wrong and is spared. Skita is not.
- Switches to Skita, she goes to complain to their parents. They punish Hualin harshly, but tell Skita that it is what it is. Skita knows the event isn’t too bad, but is more frustrated at the fact that her parents aren’t 100% on her side.

They can, however, fix the grade that their teacher put for them. Their teacher will not notice because he doesn't really pay attention.
- Skita helps Hualin sneak onto the teacher’s computer and change the grade, and the two have a heartfelt conversation while they are at it. Their sibling bond deepens a little. Skita explains that she forgives Hualin, but she still doesn’t like him very much. Hualin explains that the feeling is mutual. Skita smiles and the two live out their lives.

Story:

Hualin

Something that I would like to stress is that I’m not that bad of a student.

At least, I think so.

I’m not so bad at a lot of things. I’m well rounded in all sports, and I’m an expert at geography (the only subject my sister, Skita, sucks at). Still, it’s no secret that I’m not star child that my parents dreamed I could be.

They kept sending me subtle hints to try more, like: “Y’know, if you studied really hard, you could be the best student in arithmetic.” It honestly annoyed me so much. I just wanted them to leave me alone and not push me so much. I probably would’ve ended up a better student if they hadn't pushed me.

Skita and I were twins. A lot of people think it’s cool to be a twin. I can assure you, it isn’t. I thought it was cool at one point too. But firstly, we’re fraternal, which means we can’t play any of those fun twin switching games. And secondly, we’re roped into everything together. And I mean everything.

All the boring extracurriculars Skita wanted to do, my parents forced me to join as well. I still get flashbacks of Nature's Explorers club from our younger years. I think I managed to get like 50 bug bites in one sitting.

I was also taking the exact same classes as Skita. I was dozing off in Physical Science as usual, not really paying attention to what I was doing. Which was unfortunate considering I was holding a very potent chemical.

And of course I proceeded to spill said chemical into my flask and start a fire.

Luckily, I woke up really quickly. The heat from the fire combined with the yelling of my sister caused me to wake up and panic. The fire was actually spreading really quickly and I had zero idea what to do. So I ran to the opposite side of the classroom.

Skita expertly grabbed the nearest fire extinguisher and put out the fire, but not before the fire had effectively burned the table we were sharing and our experiments to boot. Nevertheless Ms. Ilaran was not very happy. She spent a solid 20 minutes lecturing Skita and I. She gave us both a bad grade on the assignment, which honestly wouldn’t have really mattered either way for me because I would’ve ended up butchering my experiment some other way. But to Skita, it was basically a death sentence.

Despite the obvious distaste in our relationship, I still felt incredibly bad for her. I ended up spending the whole rest of the day contemplating what to do about the situation. I knew that her grades sort of regulated her self worth, and I didn’t want me to be the reason she felt so bad.

There was only one thing I could think of to possibly fix this. So I headed straight to the library after school.

Skita

My life, all in all, is not very exciting.

But failing your first lab assignment of the year was definitely not what I wanted instead.

And it was all Hualin’s fault.

My parents weren’t happy about the situation either. They grounded Hualin for two months and made him do a lot of chores around the house. That made me feel a little better. Emphasis on little.

When I went to Ms. Ilaran the next day to advocate for myself, she told me that I should’ve regulated the situation better, and not let any dangerous chemicals next to fire. But how was I supposed to know what Hualin was doing? I’m not his babysitter. The whole situation infuriated me so much that I ended up crying in my room about it. Not a very good look if I’m being honest. But it did feel good.

Then I saw Hualin heading to the library, and decided to follow him.

There was no reason in particular. I was just curious, and if he was doing anything illegal, I would get to catch him in the act. I was actually secretly begging the Hualin to be doing something he wasn’t supposed to so he could get punished more. It’s not like he goes to the library just cause.

When I rounded a corner, I saw him reading a book that looked like it would shatter if you touched it. It was ancient. And he seemed to be muttering a passage from the book.

The next thing I knew, I had traveled back in time.

Hualin

I’m not gonna lie, I did not expect the book to work at all.

Not many people knew about that book. I think my dad is really the only one. So I guess that was why I had never previously heard about a time traveling spell. The only problem was that Skita had gotten pulled into the spell with me.

Luckily, we both managed to agree on a plan to fix the whole mess that had happened yesterday. It was too late to stop the fire from happening itself, so we decided to just alter the grades Ms. Ilaran had put in for Skita and I. Ms. Ilaran wasn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. I was positive that she wouldn’t notice. Besides, it would bring my grade up a little.

It was after school hours, and Ms. Ilaran was just about to leave for the day. My plan was to distract her while her computer was still open so that I could change the grades in the gradebook, and then we would just leave. It was pretty simple in theory. Hopefully we could pull it off.

Skita walked up to Ms. Ilaran and asked if she could go investigate to kids who were fighting. Just as they disappeared at the end of the hall, I darted into the classroom and ran to the computer. Luckily, it was still on.

I knew I had little time before Skita and Ms. Ilaran would come back, so I quickly opened the gradebook and navigated through the tabs, finding the class I was in. After a couple presses of the backspace key and alteration of grades, I closed out of the tab and ran out of the classroom. Skita and I had arranged to meet outside the school on the left.

Two minutes later, Skita arrived. She seemed pretty calm considering we just violated a lot of school rules. I never knew she had a rebellious side to her good-two-shoes persona. I liked this look on her.

“Everything is done,” she said, smiling at me. “Thank you. For attempting to help me. I know you really didn’t have to.”

“I’m just surprised you weren’t going to rat me out.”

“Honestly, I heavily considered it. I think you’re starting to rub off on me a little. For the record, I forgive you for your really stupid and idiotic mistake.”

“Yes I know, it was very stupid.”

“But I still don’t like you very much,” Skita said, giving me a disapproving look.

“Fair enough,” I conceded, “should we go home?”

I know Mum says never to swim at night. I know the waves are dangerous, even deadly. I know if I scream for help, no-one will come.
But I still do it.
The water is refreshing on my pale skin, and the moonlight reflects off it, clean and bright. Immersing myself in the cool waves, I can forget the daytime's troubles, my failed friendships and stacks of undone homework. It's just me and the ocean.
A slight ripple hits me. Alert, I scan the surface for a disturbance, immediately catching a glimpse of a spark. Why would there be fire here? I swim towards it to investigate. Another ripple, this one stronger. It nearly pushes me back. More sparks. There could be a boat. There could be fireworks. There could be a rock with matches on it.
A burst of flame spirals across the water, creating a wave that pushes me back a meter.
I squint in the bright fire, trying to work out what this is. The fire towers over me, as big as a tsunami. I stand there, awestruck, letting the waves wash over me. I pick out a wing-shaped flame, a foot, a beak.
A great caw washes over the ocean, fire like feathers spreading its wings. It's glorious, a huge eruption in the darkness. The phoenix shoots up, sending huge waves across the sea. In graceful speed, it glides over the water, closer, closer. I push my feet off the sand and swim towards the shore. My arms burn. I can feel its deadly flame burning on my back. I push myself further from this frightening, glorious creature. I can feel its heat scorching me through the darkness. It dives closer. Closer. Terrifyingly close.
With elegance to rival a dancer, it whisks me into the sky, its beak holding my head with a powerful grip. I scream.
My phone is on the sand, kilometers below me. So is my towel, my bag, everything. I should have listened to Mum through all the lectures on the dangers of swimming at night, stories of friends and classmates, tales of horrific news headlines… Bet she wouldn't have thought of this.
“What are you doing?” I whisper, more to myself than the phoenix.
Its voice is a beautiful song of bass notes. “Giving you the ride of your life.”
It stops midair, wings lifting to make itself float to the ground. Slowly, the phoenix lands on the sand, claws digging into it. Its beak releases me, and it turns, leaving me staggering to the ground. As I whip around, I catch fiery wings beating silently into the sky.
I turn back to where I was, seeing my towel in front of me. My bag and my phone are there too. Picking up my phone, I immediately text Mum.
“Guess what just happened.”

(Daily: March 5)
(Words: 856)

Today, our daily focuses on an ex-cabin's genre from a few sessions ago—Mythology! Choose a creature, god, or other character from ancient mythology and write about them interacting with the modern world for at least 300 words—hopefully it won't make your hands too thor ;) This daily will earn your cabin 300 points, plus an additional 100 for sharing.
Circe

Helios had temporarily lifted her banishment to Aeaea. That meant that she would be able to leave Aeaea. Circe wondered how long she had resided on the island. She didn’t bother to keep track of time— she didn’t need to, but in hindsight, that would have been a good idea. However, she’s torn between whether or not she should leave. Circe decided that she should—it would be nice to see mortals differently. She was tired of meeting mortals via them being washed up onto her island. Circe grabbed a few herbs and stuffed them into a pouch fastened to her waist.
She woke up, squinting her eyes against the bright sun. She looked around and realized that she was not on Aeaea. How did she even get here? Where was here? Surrounding the odd mass of what seemed to be metal was water. Judging from where they were, Circe assumed this was a boat.
The boat lurched, and suddenly, she felt the urge to throw up. She stuck her head out of the side of the boat and emptied the contents of her stomach. Everyone was probably laughing at her. She muttered a few obscenities in Greek, directing most of them at her father. A man sitting next to her pulled the little girl next to him a little closer. She closed her eyes, a pitiful attempt at trying to go back to sleep.
What seemed to be hours later, Circe could see land. She was so glad. The little girl next to her had been pulling Circe’s hair non-stop. She wanted to summon her lioness to fend the child off, but the lioness had passed. Slowly, the boat approached a harbor. As the ship docked, people prepared to get off.
People stared at her. She supposed that she didn’t exactly fit in. Well, her outfit didn’t. Everyone around her was wearing some sort of odd clothing and shoes. Meanwhile, Circe stood there barefoot in a very plain tunic.
“Are you okay?” someone asked from behind her. Circe pointed at herself, confused. “Yes, you,” they confirmed.
“Do you know where I can get clothing?” she inquired. The person pointed toward a huge metallic mass.
“Umm, okay,” she replied, making her way toward it. There was a sign on it. It said “Mall” in large black letters. Circe stopped at what she assumed was the entrance. The door slid effortlessly open on its own. What matter of sort of sorcery was this? She noticed that most of the “Mall” was transparent. She looked around, searching for stairs.
Her eyes caught on something that resembled stairs. The stairs were moving up, and the people were stationary. That was strange. People usually walked up the stairs. She moved toward the moving stairs. Circe carefully put one foot on the moving stairs, but the stairs were moving faster than she anticipated. Yelping, she grabbed the railing, which was also moving, and put her other foot on the step. Someone gave her a strange look.
The whole “Mall” was brightly illuminated by something that was not the sun. Circe found a room that read “Clothing Store” and entered it. Looking around, she picked out a piece of clothing that loosely resembled a tunic and a pair of sandals. She walked up to the front. She assumed this seemed to be where she would pay.
“How much is this?” Circe asked the person there.
“Twenty-four ninety-nine.” the man replied. He did not look much older than Circe. She handed him twenty-five drachmas. The man looked at her oddly.
“What?!” she exclaimed.
“Twenty-four dollars and ninety-nine cents,” the man enunciated. What the heck were dollars? She only had drachmas on her.
“If you don’t have the money, I’ll have to ask you to put the clothing down and leave the premises.” the man said, annoyed.
“Excuse me?! Do you know who I am? I’m Circe, daughter of the sun god Helios. If you don’t let me buy this with my drachmas, I’ll ask him to stop pulling the sun!” she exclaimed. Circe could not believe she had brung her father into this. It was all a bluff. Why would her father listen to her?
“Again, please leave the store if you are unwilling to pay,” the man said, raising his voice. Frustrated, Circe grabbed a handful of herbs from her pouch, shoved them into his mouth, and forced him to swallow. Muttering a few words in Greek, the man abruptly transformed into a pig. She was semi-surprised that it worked—she hadn’t turned anyone into pigs since Odysseus and his men. She quickly changed into her new outfit and left the place.
As she walked through the doorway, an alarm went off. She did not doubt that her stolen goods had triggered it. She picked up speed and crashed right into a girl eating a whole mango as if it were an apple. The girl dropped the mango, shouting obscenities at Circe.
She should have just stayed on Aeaea. The gods were probably having the time of their lives watching her steal clothing. Steal clothing, of all things! She flipped the probably-watching Helios off.

LET'S GET STARTED

Aphrodite spat out dust as she looked down at her very-bad grazed knees. Huh, not bad for a fall from Olympus.
And a thought hit her.
First, where was Olympus?
Second, why was she hurt? Gods were IMMORTAL.

She looked around at the lights of many cars and streetlamps. People carried different things like baskets or flour bags on their shoulders and walked. Their skin, as she realized, was definitely darker than most, and she wasn't being rude. It made sense to her as she saw a sign in a foreign language until she decoded it.

India?
India?!
BUT I WAS JUST IN OLYMPUS MINUTES AGO?!

She looked down at her red dress, now torn in many places. She snapped, like usual when she wanted a new dress, but nothing happened. Infuriated, she snapped multiple more times until she looked like an idiot in the park and people started to stare at her.

Aphrodite mentally groaned, imagining how smeared her makeup might be and the mess her hair was. But nobody seemed to mind. It was all a Get things done your way or don't at all kind of mood, and she didn't know whether she liked it or didn't.

A few hours later she stumbled over a woman and a child. She was starting to get tired of Indians. When she asked for help, they looked at her, said something in probably Hindi, and because she couldn't understand she mimed that she couldn't speak any Hindi. This, apparently, seemed a bit rude to them and they walked away. Maybe she had mimed something wrong.

'Why are you alone so late?' asked the woman in a fairly good accent. Aphrodite almost fainted in relief. ‘English?’ she asked hopefully and the woman nodded.

The girl and her mother took Aphrodite home, and as a week passed by the girl grew very close to the god. So close that Aphrodite started to tell her stories about when she was a god, hidden behind the lie that she had read them all in the Percy Jackson books.

'AND THEN DO YOU KNOW WHAT ODYSSEUS DID?!' Aphrodite said, building the suspense as the kid rocked back and forth. ‘You’ll get to know that after dinner.' she said, bopping her nose and then running out for dinner.

Aphrodite, for the first time, found out that love was not only in marriage but friendship and family. And for some reason, the skies rumbled every time she thought about it, and the clouds cleared a bit.

While eating their mac and cheese, Aphrodite suddenly said, ‘I don’t know what I could have done without you guys. Thankyou, really.' And as the mother smiled, something happened to Aphrodite. Her fingers started turning into golden dust.

The girl looked mildly confused while the woman looked extremely shocked. Aphrodite bent down to the girl and whispered. ‘I’m Aphrodite.'

And as the girl squealed in excitement and the mother still stood in awe, Aphrodite returned back to Olympus where Zues was happy with the result of his punishment.
But that's another story.

Daily, Mar. 5th

Layla picked up the phone as it rang. “Hello, Shorewood Police, what’s your emergency?” she asked, reclining comfortably with her feet on her table.
“…”
“Hello?”
“Shorewood police? What a ridiculous name! I say the people of this generation do the strangest things!” they responded.
“Oh, no ma’am, that’s just the name of our station. My name is Officer Layla Jenkins.”
“Officer? OFFICER? What kind of name is that!?” The woman sounded manic.
“No, ma’am, that’s…. Never mind. Tell me, what’s your emergency?” she said tiredly. She heard her muttering about the nerve of this generation, and sighed.
“Well I’ll tell you what my emergency is!” the woman cried. “My daughter ran away, again!!”
“Oh, so you’re the person who has been calling for the past year that her daughter keeps running away!” she said accusingly.
“Well last time I checked, that wasn’t a crime!” Layla thought she heard the crazy woman mutter, ‘yet’. Taking a deep breath, she tried to get to the point.
“Would you please tell me where your daughter was last? And what time did she run away?” she asked as patiently as she could.
“She was at my house, and she runs away every fall and comes back during spring!” the woman said rapidly. Layla raised an eyebrow.
“Okay…. Do you know where she runs off to?”
“My BZZT brother Hades’ house!”
“Hades…?” Layla stifled a laugh. “And what is your daughter's name?”
“PERSEPHONE!” the woman burst into tears. Layla could imagine her tearing at her hair and beating her breast like a gorrila.
“Okay ma’am, we’ll dispatch a group to your area soon.. What is your adress?” Layla asked.
“I just sent it to you,” the woman said, and just then, Layla’s phone rang.
“How.. How do you have my number?” Layla asked shakily.
“Never mind that, just come soon!”
“Okaaay, can I have your name please?” she asked
“Demeter.”

Eros landed with an explosion of sparks and fire, a spectacle that almost didn’t suit the human world surrounding him.

He stood instantly, snuffing out the flames licking his sleeves. As everyone around him sprinted towards the landing site, marveling at the fireworks, he walked away slowly, trying to find out where he’d landed.

The human city was not much of a marvel to him. The streets were black and dirty, signs too bright for his eyes. And most of all, it was too loud, the hubbub of the walking humans filling the air.

Eros wondered how they did it—walking around so nonchalantly when they knew that their lives would end soon, or maybe just at that moment. He shuddered at the thought.

Then he remembered his mission, which he should have been focused on. Aphrodite’s words still echoed through his ears. Find that girl and make her fall in love with the vilest creature on this earth.

It was simple enough, and Eros toyed with thinking of who he would make her adore—perhaps a sewer? No, it had to be something that could never love her back, something that would make her look absolutely ridiculous.

He approached the building, where what seemed like the whole town was gathered around. There were chants of the name Psyche, and multiple flowers were thrown against the walls.

For several minutes Eros waited there for the girl to make an appearance, but nobody turned up. He sighed and willed himself to turn invisible, then flew up to the window. He willed the wind to blow the curtains, and then he saw the most beautiful girl he’d even seen.

He could understand why Aphrodite was so angry at her. He nearly mistook her for a goddess as she paced around the room.

As his heart started to beat faster, he felt himself, like he was struck by his infamous arrows, falling for this girl. He could not go through with it.

Many didn’t seem to fully understand the “immortal” part of immortality. Simply, it bound one’s life to the Earth for an eternity, whether they liked it or not, whether they were remembered or forgotten. It left them to choose how they’d like to not really enjoy, but spend their everlasting existence.
Artemis was the goddess of chastity, the hunt, and the moon. Perhaps her name used to be spoken with fear and admiration, but within this generation it was viewed as an unusual choice. Whatever others thought of her, she’d chosen to use this particular Tuesday as a sort of “care day” for herself and her dogs. Nothing far from the other thousand times she’d done it, it was but another opportunity to stock up on supplies for her hunters. Dressed with a tan jacket and jeans, her dark hair braided to the side, she blended in well among the mortals.
Clifford and Bingo, freshly groomed, were harnessed and leashed. The goddess and her two dogs absently pushed a full cart down the aisles of Target, none of them very happy about it. Bingo pushed his nose up against a display of pink tennis balls, looking up at his owner with anticipation. Clifford stared at him judgingly, trying to remind him that he was a tough hunting dog. Artemis shrugged.
Soon, they found themselves at the checkout line, the conveyor belt beeping mournfully.
“That would be 67 dollars and 87 cents.” the cashier announced, watching her place the cash onto the counter. She counted it, a sort of silence falling between them.
“33 cents short.” the cashier sighed. “I don’t have any change on me, but you could always place something back.”
Artemis cursed, but nonetheless reached for her pockets. Manifesting a couple cents of change into existence was easy enough. She felt a gentle gap on her back, and turned around to be face-to-face with a blonde, high-school age girl. She placed 2 quarters into her hands.
“Thanks.” Artemis said, her face relaxing.
“Hey, no problem.” the girl replied, smiling as she finished checking out a couple items herself. They walked to the exit of the store together. “Your dogs are adorable by the way. Can I pet them?”
“Of course - they’re named Clifford and Bingo.” they were wagging their tails as the highschool girl scratched them behind the ears.
“I’m Aya, by the way.” she grinned, standing up. “I live around here, maybe we’ll run into each other again someday.”
“I’m Artemis,” Artemis introduced, a faint smile flickering over her lips. “And yeah, I hope I’ll see you again eventually.”
Yet deep down, she knew that she and her hunters wouldn’t be running into the same town again for maybe a good century, when Aya was long dead. As she watched her walk in her own direction, she almost pitied the human lifespan.

I Attempt to Write About Eldritch Abominations Despite Hardly Knowing Anything About Them - Daily 3/5

Ka’s’L’k made an attempt at opening their billions of eyes, but only opened two. They felt puny and helpless, like a human would if they suddenly became a tired fly buzzing desperately out of the way of a flyswatter.
They sat on the floor in what looked like a bedroom, surrounded by a circle of sand and candles. It felt so wrong to see in this strange way, with only a limited view and only of certain wavelengths. They were so used to being able to see all, everywhere, constantly. Having omnipotence. But now…they hardly knew what planet they were on. They still knew some things, though. Like the fact that they were now in a human body, with a human mind that had used to belong to someone else.
In front of them was another human wearing blue clothing, looking expectantly at them. They…she was beaming with joy. “Jackie? Is that you? Did it work?”
An answer was expected, wasn’t it? Ka’s’L’k could speak now, in human form. They had to answer, and find out how this had happened later. But then again, perhaps the two were related. They opened their one-tongued mouth, swallowing the non-toxic liquid that was saliva. “No.”
The human looked…confused. A simple emotion, compared to the complex ones that formed over an endless eternity that Ka’s’L’k knew well.
“What? How? I couldn’t have pulled this book out of my psycho grandma’s attic and set up this culty summoning circle for nothing, could I? Tell me it worked. Tell me you’re Jackie.”
“No.”
“Well then, who are you? Did I accidentally bring some random punk back from the afterlife?”
“No.”
“Can you say anything that’s not no?”
“Yes.”
“You’re being very difficult, you know?”
“Yes.”
“Can you give me a name? You’re obviously somebody.”
“My name is Ka’s’L’k and I’m an eldritch abomination from beyond the edges of reality. I believe you may have messed up your ritual.

March 5th Daily

Anubis groaned, writhing and twisting as he tried to get out of… wherever he was. The giant snake paused and leaned against his containment, getting a feel of the place. Everywhere was a bit rugged, with what he confirmed was crumbling dirt surrounding him. As his eyesight adjusted to the dark, he was sure. He was buried. Apophis roared with irritation. The gods thought they could stop him with this. What a joke. He chuckled to himself and started to rise to his full height. Surprisingly, he didn't immediately break out ‘Ah, so they used a spell’ He put more pressure on the rocks, smiling as some finally came loose and broke free of his prison.

***

The streets were busy with traffic and people trying to get to their destinations. A random pedestrian paused as they felt the sidewalk shift under their feet. More people felt it, and everything went to a standstill, only to turn into unbridled chaos as a giant snake rose out of the road.

***

Apophis continued to slither through the city, the many buildings giving him quite a headache. Everything was giving him a headache, and he hated it. Apophis decided he'd only be satisfied if he destroyed one of these settlements and chose a café right in front of him. A person unluckily enough to be in his sight was his first target. With nothing else to do, they threw the pastry they were eating at Apophis, who caught it in his massive jaws. The snake turned it around in his mouth. He never had a reason to eat, but this was much different from the food in Egypt. He swallowed, raving for more of it and tears off the wall of the café with his mouth, lunging for the many displays, throwing aside everything in his path. He grabbed a mouthful of doughnuts and licked his teeth in satisfaction. He can destroy the sun later, but right now, he needs to have more of these delicacies.

March 14th Daily

The woods brimmed with life, a cacophony of noises surrounding me as I attempted to travel through the Silent Woods. What irony the name has for a place like this. With a grunt, I adjusted my bag so it was securely on my shoulders, at the same time using my walking stick to navigate the bumpy dirt road, years of no maintenance shown with the amount of vegetation creeping unto it. The trees surrounding me created dapples of light, and I breathed in the air, thankful for a moment of peace.

“We'd probably get to our destination if you walked faster.” I wrinkled my nose in annoyance as I looked at Bea, a fennec fox hybrid who decided to accompany me at a point in my journey.

“My mom usually said to always enjoy life. Won't it be wrong if I disobeyed her?” Bea rolled her eyes and kicked a pebble, the small stone bouncing at least 5 times before stopping.

“So you'd rather take it slow than trying to save Life?”

“That's not what I said!”

“And I interpreted it. I hope you remember it's the only reason I'm here, otherwise I'm leaving.” Bea adjusted the scarf covering her neck, ears slightly bending as a gust of wind blew past us. There was now an awkward silence. None of us dared to break it, and our small talk ended, until night came. It seemed like the Silent Forest wasn't for irony after all, as all the chattering from earlier had disappeared, shadows and silence replacing it that threatened to swallow us whole.

“Still want to take things slow?” Bea asked snarkily and I sighed, too bothered to even answer. She started humming, an unspoken tale of tragedy and hope. It was creeping on my nerves and I hugged my staff tighter.

“Maybe you could stop?” I asked.

In response, she glared at me. “It's the only thing keeping me sane right now, I'd prefer not to.” And she continued.

All of a sudden, footsteps, or rather, hooves of light appeared on the ground, seemingly matching the timing of the song. I looked at her amazed and she shook her head. So it wasn't her, who was it? We followed the tracks, stopping in shock at the glowing ram waiting for us. It nudged its head, further emphasizing with a leg that we should follow it.

“Is Life… trying to help us?” I whispered in awe, loosening the grip on my staff as my fear diminished. “Come on Bea, let's follow it. It could get us out of here.” We then did so, walking for a minutes and occasionally stopping as the ram checked where to go. Then at the next point, it paused longer, looking back and bleating in surprise, running away with no explanation.

“Wha-?” I started, Bea quickly grabbing my arm and running. I was about to complain until I looked behind me. The shadows, they were coming for us. I released my hand, running on my own now as we started to avoid roots and branches.

“We… aren't… going to… make it!” I spoke within gulps, fearing for my life to even stop.

“We.. can! Look! That tree hole. Come on!” In a quick dive, we rolled into the hole, watching as the shadows covered the entrance, leaving nothing but an abyss of black.

With heavy breaths, we stared and contemplated our next time. Tears started to brim my eyes and I clutched my head. “We'll never save Life like this!” I sobbed, hiccups already escaping my mouth. Bea brought out a hand and faltered, leaving me to remember she isn't the best at emotions. Instead, she leaned against the bark, closing her eyes for some clarity.

We stayed like that for hours, tension and exhaustion separating us. The shadows, out of nowhere parted to reveal the lamb from before, pawing the ground with a look of guilt and shame. It seemed like it was shaking a little, like keeping the shadows at bay was too much work.

I gently nudged Bea, and we immediately follow it, glimpses of stars and the moon approaching us as we neared the exit. Yet at the worst time, the ram's power was worn out. It's glow darkened and the little shield started shaking. Now with a time limit, we began running, with me carrying the surprisingly light animal. The outside of the forest got bigger, and the shadows once again started creeping up to us. Bea managed to get out, throwing herself towards the light and encouraging me that I could make it. But Fate was cruel, and the darkness consumed me. I was now in nowhere, my only companion being the glowing creature. My tears resurfaced, and I fell on my knees, rubbing furiously as I opted to give up.

A quiet bleat brought me back to my senses, and directed me towards my staff which was now glowing. Runes littered the land - or area - around it, eventually surrounding me and the goat. With a ping, a flash of light started to blind me, fading as I returned to Earth. Bea turned around and was surprised to see me, a slip of tears being quickly hid and she ran to hug me.

“How did you-?”

“It was the staff.” I stared at the wood item in my hand. “I think, I think Gaz'ue gave me some magic.”

“Wow… Well, I guess we're going to continued right?” She smiled sheepishly, a wide thing that covered her face. I nodded, and turned to pet the ram which was now laying down.

“Thanks Life. We're not going to give up yet.” The ram smiled and faded, and Bea and I continued our quest.

Daily 5: 450 words

How many years, had passed?
Many, thought Fenrir, the wolf. Too many. The landscape was changing, the lakes that surrounded him shifted slightly, and even the little island prison Lyngvi had been had moulded a bit like clay.
Febrile sat there, in his timeless gloom, his furry muscles aching from being bound up in ribbon for so long. He knew he had to get out. At least someday.
But how much time had passed since that day he was tricked, that day he bitten the God Tyr’s hand, the last day he got to see the beautiful landscapes of the outside world?
The ribbon strained against his shuddering body, and are rid noticed a few hairs snap out of place.
Finally. A chance. A sign that he had been waiting for all of these centuries.
It was time to escape.
As time again slowly passed, new things started to happen. Winters had come bitterly long, seeing no end in the years, and no spring or autumn, let alone summer.
Then came days tremors and storms shook the earth like a violent snow globe. Fenrir writhed in his ribbon, unable to shelter from the pouring rains and raging winds.
When the storms quietened slightly, the wolf saw that there was no sun or moon in the sky. They had vanished, only leaving troubled clouds and stars.
Must’ve been Skoll and Hati the wolves, He pondered. They must’ve finally caught up and eaten the Sun and Moon!
Fenrir felt a stab of pure desperation, a pulse of rage to take revenge on those who had wronged him himself; finally gave them the medicine the Gods of Asgard had so deserved.
And he will do himself proud. He will do his father Loki proud.
SNAPP!
Fenrir jumped. His muscles fully extending, allowing him to jump up fully. He stumbled, and barked.
The ribbon collapsed in a bundle of strange fabric beside him.
No way. He had done it. Fenrir, after thousands of years, he had broken free.
Well, no way to just gawk at the ribbon. He had some revenge he would love to take.

The recent news about the worryingly unusual weather in the past few years had stirred the rest of the world, as weather scientists had desperately tried to scramble for answers about this worldwide phenomenon. Must’ve if been climate change, everyone though, somehow.
But no weather forecast could predict the giant, rampaging, almost supernatural wolf that had destroyed everything that very day. His nostrils were snorting fire, in the said rage that had been furiously boiling inside because of the Gods of Asgard.
“FENRIR!” People cried. “RAGNAROK has TRULY come!”
And so indeed. Fenrir thought viciously. And so indeed!

March 5th daily:
383 words, 400 points to dystopian

Banished. Thrown away. That is was has happened to me dear reader. I, Apollo has been thrown away from Mount Olympus to a muddy field. No, I will not allow myself to lie down here while my father glares down at my with his lighting. I stood up and brushed off the dust and mud, slightly expecting it to automatically fall off completely and for my robes to be shiny again. But now, I am wearing black sweat pants and a dirty white t-shirt. Honestly, Zeus has no sense of fashion. I stomped away from the field, shaking my fist at the sky. I shall not let my father enjoy this. I grumbled and hopped onto the back of a horse. It seemed to just be standing there, waiting for me. But the moment I touched it, it whinnied and kicked me off. I fell back onto the ground, rubbing my bottom in pain. Well how was I going to get out of here? I stood up once again and glared at the horse. “Stand still.” I muttered, slowly getting onto it.. … Note to self, do not mount a horse from it's rear. The horse had kicked my with it's hind legs, sending me into a muddy puddle. “Curse you,” I huffed. “STAND STILL!” It stared at me like I'd gone mad and turned around to face me with it's bottom. “How dare you?!” I shouted, smacking the horse with my hand. I clearly had not learned anything. A moment later, I was sprawled on the ground, my face completely white. “Fine.. We'll do it your way,” I grabbed a rope hanging by the shed behind me and threw it over the horses head. My aim was completely off however, just slapping it and falling the wrong way. The horse turned slowly towards me and snarled. I ran. My stubby legs didn't take me very fast with a horse on my tail but I arrived at something red and shiny. It had wheels and seemed like a new kind of animal. I cheered and hopped inside of it and shouted, “Onwards!” I sat there, waiting for something to happen. Instead, the animal started beeping loudly. A large man with a long beard came running out, yelling, “Get out of my car!” I ran.
